It was another typical day in the office, Roy was in his office with Chiko on his head watching him, Hawkeye keeping an eye on him, Havoc having a cigarette, Breda eating a sandwich, Falman working, Fury working on the radio, black Hayate sleeping and Monroe, doing whatever the hell he does there because the author can't think of anything. So yeah, typical day but this day is different, Roy comes out of the office with Chiko in his hands and says. "Lieutenant?" "Yes sir?" Hawkeye looks at him when he's in front of her, he holds Chiko out to her and asks. "Can you babysit Chiko please? I got a call saying that General Grumman is here and wants to talk, so can you babysit her please?" Hawkeye looks at him baffled for a minute and says. "Uh sure sir." Hawkeye holds out her hands and Roy places Chiko in her hands, she looks at Roy and asks. "I thought Chiko was a boy?" "I thought so to but at the Rockbells she confirmed that he was a she. Now Chiko's really good at not being distracting and will stay quiet for the most part but she does get bored watching you do your work. She'll tell you when she's bored, she'll normally fall asleep while your doing it.
You already know what she eats so that'll be easy, sometimes when I'm doing paperwork I forget one and she try's to get it. It was one time but just in case your getting papers try to make sure she's with you, she's tiny and you won't be able to notice her without seeing her fur. Think you can handle it Lieutenant?" Hawkeye saluted with her free hand and said. "Yes sir." "Good. Now, Chiko?" Chiko looks at him and he says. "I want you to be good for Hawkeye and don't cause too much trouble. I don't know when I'll be back but it'll take awhile, can you be good for Hawkeye?" Chiko smiles and gives a little salute, Roy blushes with a smile and says. "Good girl, I'll see you soon. Everyone back to work." Roy leaves as Chiko waves goodbye, he waved back and leaves.
Hawkeye looks at Chiko and says. "Don't worry Chiko he'll be back soon. I don't When because with Grumman it takes him along time. Maybe when it's time to go home." Chiko gives a sad squeak and looks down, Hawkeye rubs her cheek and says. "Don't worry he'll come back soon, I promise. For now I'll try to not to make you lonely." Chiko gives her a smile and squeaks. She runs up Hawkeyes arm and sits on her shoulder for Hawkeye to work. As she worked Monroe came back from the bathroom and freaked out when he saw Chiko on her shoulder. "Ah! What's the rat doing here!?!" Hawkeye looks at Monroe and says. "Your lucky the colonels not here or else you'd be in trouble and Chiko's here because I'm babysitting her. Got a problem with that?"
Monroe glares at her and says. "Yeah I have problem with it! Animals like rats don't belong in a military establishment Hawkeye!" "I guess your right." Everyone including Chiko looked at her in surprise. "Glad to know we're on the same page." "Then I guess you wouldn't mind bringing it up with the colonel now would you? With everyone present including Chiko?" Monroe froze at that and didn't say anything. "I thought so. Now that your done complaining get back to work private." Monroe clicked his tongue and got to work, while Hawkeye worked she felt Chiko rub her head in gratitude. She smiled at this and gives Chiko a pet getting back to work.
It had been five hours since Roy left and Chiko was getting tired, she let out a big yawn and Hawkeye looks at her asking. "You tired?" Chiko nods and she says. "Well I have to turn in these documents and I can't bring you with me. I'll have to leave you with someone trustworthy." As Hawkeye thinks she hears a someone come in and sees Fury walking in with Black Hayate, she smiles and calls him over. "Hayate, come." Hayate walks over to her and sits in front of her wagging his tail, she grabs Chiko and says. "I want you to guard Chiko until I get back, don't eat her or rough house with her sense she's very small. Can you do that?" Hayate gives Chiko a sniff and barks happily, Hawkeye smiles at him and says. "Good. Go lay down." Hayate lays down on his bed and Hawkeye puts Chiko on him. Chiko looks at Hawkeye and she says. "I'll be back soon but for now Hayate will protect you." Hawkeye stands up and leaves with the papers.
Chiko looks at Hayate and he looks at her, he barks at her and lays his head down. Chiko snuggles into his fur and falls asleep instantly, his fur reminded her of Roy's soft and warm hair. Fury notices that Chiko and Hayate were sleeping with each other, he blushes because of the cuteness and instantly takes a picture of the two of them because it was so cute. He was definitely gonna show Roy this and Hawkeye when they got back.
Hawkeye came back and smiled at the sight of Chiko and Hayate sleeping together, she sat at her desk and started working. During this Havoc and Breda decided to take a break and play chess, Chiko woke up yawning and rubbed the sleepy's out of her eyes. She blinked a few times and saw that Hawkeye came back, she looked at Chiko and saw that she was awake. She smiled at her and said. "Good to see you awake Chiko." She smiles at her as Hawkeye stood up and crouched in front of her with her hand out. Chiko hopped on and Hawkeye stood up then went back to her desk, Chiko was sitting on the desk when she her Havoc say. "Checkmate!" "Now that's not fair you cheated." "I didn't cheat your just a sore loser." "Am not!" "Are to." As they argued Chiko was looking at the broad with interest, she had seen those at Roy's house but thought of it as decoration and now she knows it's a game.
As Breda and Havoc played again Chiko took the time to memorized where the pieces went to but didn't know what their called. She just called them little piece, tower, horsey, weird piece, queen and king. She wasn't dumb she's just never seen chess before until now, after awhile it was getting dark and Roy still wasn't back. Everyone went home except Hawkeye because she waited for Roy, Chiko knew that Hawkeye was getting bored so she signaled her and showed her what she wanted to do. "What is it Chiko?" Chiko grabbed her pencil, picked it up and moved it forward until Hawkeye got what she was wanting.
"You want to play chess like Havoc and Breda were doing?" Chiko smiled and nodded, Hawkeye smiled back and stood up to get the chess game. She placed it on her desk, she placed the pieces in there spots and said. "Pick a color." Chiko looked at the broad and hopped to black, indicating that she'd blend in with white to easily. Hawkeye got out a piece of paper and started drawing on it saying. "I saw you watching Havoc and Breda during their game to memorize the moves but I'm gonna write this just in case for memory purposes." Chiko nodded in agreement and Hawkeye placed the paper next to her and she looked at it.
After awhile Chiko memorized it and they started playing. Hawkeye actually smiled as she watched Chiko move a piece by sliding it.
Roy was walking through dark hallways very tired. 'That took longer then expected, hopefully Chiko didn't cause any trouble then it should be fine but I seriously doubt that.' Roy continued to walk to the office and when he got there, he opened the door and gasped at the sight. Chiko and Hawkeye were playing chess together and it looked like Chiko was about to win. Chiko moved a piece and notices Roy at the door, she got excited and started hopping while squeaking. Hawkeye looked at him and said. "Welcome back sir." "Good to be back. Are you teaching Chiko chess?" Roy walks up to them and looks at the broad. "Yes sir, Chiko seemed interested in it while Havoc and Breda were playing. She wanted to play so I decided to teach her."
Roy chuckles and says. "Well your a good teacher because it looks like Chiko's about to win." Hawkeye looks at the broad and realizes that he's right. "Mhm, your right. Good game Chiko." Chiko smiles and sticks out her paws, Hawkeye looks confused until Roy chuckles and says. "She wants to shake you hand." "Oh!" Hawkeye sticks out her finger and they shook on it. Roy and Hawkeye are outside the office with Chiko on Roy's head, after he locks the door and looks at Hawkeye saying. "Thanks again for taking care of Chiko, she didn't cause to much trouble did she?" Hawkeye shook her head and smiled saying. "Nope she was a little angel. See you on Monday sir." "See you then." They walked out of the building and went home.
After Roy and Chiko's bath they dried off and went to bed. Roy says to Chiko before falling asleep. "Chiko?" She lets out a squeak and Roy says. "Tomorrow is the weekend and I was thinking that we could play chess. I wanna see how good you are." Roy felt Chiko hop on his head giving out happy squeaks, Roy chuckles and says. "I knew that's make you happy, Goodnight Chiko." Chiko gives a squeak and buries into Roy's hair, they both fall asleep into a peaceful sleep.
