It had been a couple of weeks since Chiko was home alone and Roy had his panic attack. Roy was doing his paperwork with Hawkeye watching over him, he thought she was just making sure he did his paperwork but she was actually doing to to keep an eye on him and hope to find out what was happening to him. As he was doing his work the door suddenly slammed opened making him jump along with Chiko who was on his head. "I'm back colonel bastard!" Roy sweatsdrops at this as he looks at Edward. "Ah Fullmetal, great to see you." Edward dropped his report on Roy's desk and sat down on the couch as Roy read through the report.
Ed and Al were surprised to see Hawkeye next to the colonel but shrugged it off. They thought it was adorable how Chiko was reading with Roy, Chiko was like the perfect companion for Roy. After Roy was done reading he looks at Ed and says. "I can barley read it, you need to rewrite it." Ed gets on his feet and yells. "WHAT!?!" His yell pushed back Roy and Chiko as they looked at him wide eyed. "I forgot how good your lungs are Fullmetal. And in any case, I can tell you put allot of work into this but there are spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes as well as-." Edward was having a hard paying attention since Chiko was mimicking Roy and holding up his paws when he mentioned what Ed did wrong. He had to suck in his lips as to not laugh right then and there.
"I know what Chiko is doing is funny but can you please pay attention Fullmetal?" Ed froze at that knowing he was caught while Al giggled at that and Hawkeye was trying to be the mature one but it was hard because it was funny. "In any case, you'll have to rewrite it because I can't give this shit to the Führer." Ed got upset by this and grabbed the paper, then stomped off angrily as Al followed. When the door closed, Roy sighed tiredly and put his hand in his face as Hawkeye and Chiko look at him. "Tired sir?" "Little bit. With paperwork and Ed's anger really takes it out of someone." Hawkeye smiled amused at her colonel as Chiko started petting him affectionately but loses it as she noticed a new bruise on his wrist. She gently grabs it and brings it to her eye level causing Roy to get surprised and stand up trying to get her to let go. "Lieutenant!?" "Let me see it sir."
She said rolling back his sleeve to see a big bruise on his wrist. Roy winced at it, remembering that Monroe had grabbed tight that Roy thought it was gonna break but it didn't. He knew it was gonna bruise but didn't think it would bruise that bad. "What happened sir?" "I, banged it on the way here to work and didn't think it was that bad." Roy said, hoping she'd believe him. 'Please believe my bullshit story.' 'I dont believe him, it's obvious that this was someone's doing but with the way things are between us. Its best not to ask.' "Alright sir." Roy sighed in relief for that but then. "Let me at least put some cream on it." Roy looked surprised when she left to grab some cream. She came back after a minute with some cream.
She put some in her hand and started rubbing it gently in his wrist. Roy winced at the pressure and coolness but sighed in relief that it wasn't hurting anymore. As Hawkeye rubbed the cream into his wrist she had a distracted look on her face that Roy noticed. "What's wrong?" "Nothings wrong sir." "You sure? You seem distracted, like somethings on your mind." "It's nothing." Roy doesn't believe her so he lifts up his hand and grabs a piece of her hair, gently rubbing it with his thumb. She looks up from her task, surprised at her superior officers actions. "You can talk to me about anything, you know that right?" Hawkeye blushes at this and nods. "I do sir, i do."
Roy gently placed his forehead on Riza's and she blushes even more at this action as he places his hand on her cheek and the hand that she's holding gently holds hers. "Sir?" "Roy. You don't need to be formal all the time Riza." Roy had a slight blush on his cheeks as he leaned in a little closer that their noses were touching. "Roy." They slowly begin to lean in as Chiko covers her eyes but peeks a little to watch. Just as their lips were about to touch there was a knock on the door. "Colonel?" Havoc said opening the door as they hastily separated with huge blushes on their faces while covering their mouths embarrassed. "Uh, am I interrupting something?" 'Yes.' They both thought as they calmed down. "No lieutenant. What do you need?" Roy said after clearing his throat. "I have some papers to give to you that the higher ups need finished."
Roy grunts at this and looks annoyed. "Great, just as I'm done and about to take a nap the higher ups decides to dump their work on me because they don't like me." Havoc and Hawkeye hold in their laughter at his annoyance towards his work. He may be doing them on time or even at all, he still hated it no matter what. "Well, I'll leave you with your work sir." "Thank you Havoc." Roy said bitterly and sits back down getting to work. Hawkeye takes her place next to Roy as he does his work, they both thought. 'That was close.' Hawkeye thought with relief. 'So close.' Roy thought disappointedly as he worked while Chiko watched him write.
Roy closes the door to the building tiredly, then he realizes that it was raining. He groans in annoyance as Chiko hides in his hair, knowing that her master is exhausted. Roy places his hand on top of his head and starts running to his car, he unlocks the car and opens it. He gets inside and sighs in relief that the day was over, until he realizes that he wasn't alone. "Yo." He slams his head on the wheel and groans in annoyance. Ed and Al had sunk into his car. He took a deep breathe and sighed, he slowly lifts up his head and opens his eyes looking at the brothers. "Ed, Al. What're you doing in here?" He said through his teeth as he was not in the mood, he was tired from paper work and his wrist hurt like no one's business and to make the day even worse, it was raining.
"I'm sorry colonel Mustang we were gonna get a hotel but it started to rain and brother thought it be best if we stayed with you." Alphonse said looking apologetic causing Roy to sigh and exhale from his mouth closing his eyes saying. "A little heads up would have been nice but I'm not really in the mood to snap." Ed and Al nod as Roy started the car, driving to his house. When they got there, Ed and roy changed into some comfortable clothes as roy made dinner. Ed was at the table working on his report because the first one was trash according to Roy, he was using a pen and was using a dictionary. After dinner was ready, Roy placed Ed bowl in front of him, avoiding the papers, then placing his bowl in front of his chair. Then he grabbed a bowl of nuts and placed it on the table as he sat down Chiko made her way to the bowl and started eating, Roy ate as well. When ed was finally done with his report and pushed them aside and started scarfing down his food.
Roy and Chiko stared in amazement at the pace he was going before continuing to eat. After dinner, they went to the living room as chilled. Roy was on the couch reading a book, Ed and Al were on the floor reading about the philosophers stone to restore their bodies. As Roy read, he looked out the window to see that the rain had stopped but there was still something falling. He looked at the two teenagers and said. "Guys." They looked up from the work as Roy nodded to the window. "Look outside." They got up from their place and went to the window, they gasped in shock. It was snowing outside. "Wow! Haven't seen snow in ages!" "Yep. It sure has been awhile." Roy chuckled at their curiousness and looked at it with a smile on his face.
He was worried about Chiko for awhile but she had climbed down from his hair and sat on the ledge of the couch, staring at the falling frozen water in awe. 'Guess she's never seen snow before either.' "Do you think it'll pile up brother?" "I sure hope so! That'd be great!" Chiko squeaks in agreement as Roy chuckles at their childlessness but he wouldn't have them any other way. After reading, Roy was too tired to go up the stairs and just slept in his recliner as Ed slept on the couch while Al read on some of their research. Before Roy knew it, he fell asleep with Chiko sleeping on his head peacefully.
Ed slowly woke up to birds chirping and Sun light, he opened his eyes and sat up. He rubbed to sleepy from his eyes and looked around the room, he saw that Roy was sleeping in his chair with Chiko on his head sleeping so cutely. He had never seen Chiko sleep and it the most adorable thing he has ever seen. Alphonse was reading on the floor looking through their research, Ed stretched and gave out a big yawn. He looked out the window and his eyes widened in shock.
Roy was sleeping peacefully on his chair with Chiko on his head when he heard Ed scream. He jerked awake with his hands in a snapping pose as Al panicked while Chiko let out a squeak and was wide eyed. "What's wrong!?" He asked as Ed looked at his companions with a huge smile. "The snow piled up!" Their eyes widened at that and went to the window where Ed was. Sure it enough, the snow piled on the ground and it was still snowing. Ed let out a laugh and said. "It's so beautiful!" "Yeah!" Roy chuckled at the childlessness, especially when Chiko started hopping on his head.
Ed changed into his clothes and went outside, jumping into the snow. Roy watched as Ed and Al made a snowman, he just chuckled at their antics. He laughed when Ed fell over trying to lift up the ball of snow and topple all over him. Chiko had moved to his shoulder and was looking at the snow in awe. She had stars in her eyes as she looked at the snow. Roy smiled at her and asked. "You wanna join them?" Chiko looked at him with hopeful eyes as if asking 'can I?' Roy nodded and Chiko started hopping up and down squeaking. Roy chuckled and they went back inside to get dressed.
Roy came out with his uniform and coat on while Chiko had her scarf and booties on. He looked at the two teenagers and said. "Got room for one more?" Ed and Al looked at Roy and saw that he was in his uniform. "Uh, yeah but aren't you going to work?" Roy chuckled and shook his head while saying. "I do but i was wondering if Chiko could join you. This is her first time seeing snow." "Oh! Of course colonel but are you sure your okay with this? I remember reading that Shikigami owners are protective of them." "I don't mind. I left Chiko before. Once with Hawkeye, once alone but that doesn't mean I don't worry." Ed smiled and said. "Don't worry colonel, we'll keep an eye on her."
Roy smiled and placed his hand near Chiko so she can climb on and passed her to Ed. Roy waved goodbye as he walked away, with the others waving as well. After Roy left, they got back to work on their snow man. Chiko stayed on Ed shoulder watching. Al placed the second part on as Ed placed snow around it so it wouldn't fall with Chiko helping out. Al thought she was so cute with her little snow wear on, as did Ed. After they were done they got started on the head, after that was done Al put it on top. Al started placing snow around the edges with Chiko's help, it was honestly adorable seeing Chiko pat snow into the edges.
The brothers and Shikigami admired their work and were proud of themselves for their snowman. Ed went inside to get a scarf, a hat and a carrot with Chiko while Al grabbed two sticks and rocks. It took Ed longer because he was having a stare down with his arch nemesis, milk. After glaring at it for ten minutes and Chiko sweat dropping at that, he finally grabbed the carrot and went outside to see Al had already placed the sticks and rocks on their snowman. He was just waiting for his brother to come back from, where he guessed right, glaring at milk. Ed and Al placed the scarf and hat on while Chiko, with the help of Ed and Al, placed the carrot.
After they were done, they decided to have a little snowball fight. During the fight, a stray snowball hit Chiko and knocked her to the ground. Ed laughed and was about to throw a snowball but stopped when he noticed his brother was frozen in place, looking at him with fear. "Al is everything alright?" Slowly Al held up his hand towards Ed trembling while asking. "B-brother? Where's Chiko?" He blinked in confusion and said. "What do you mean? She's right-." He stopped looking at his shoulder, seeing that it was empty. Ed and Al screamed in horror in realization that they lost Chiko. "WE LOST CHIKO!" Ed and Al started looking through the snow in search for her. "Oh man! The colonel will kill us and feed us to black Hayate!" "She couldn't have gotten far! We just need to look where the snowball landed and will find her!" Just then something moves from the snow and they looked and saw a familiar looking fluffy Shikigami popping out of the snow.
She shakes the snow off her head and looks up at them confused as they sighed in relief. "Oh. Thank goodness, I was sure we'd be barbecued for sure!" "Yeah." Chiko didn't know what was going on and just tilted her head in confusion.
At the office, it was a slow day for Roy. Hawkeye was over his shoulder like usual as did his work, Havoc was think about a girl he had met, Breda was eating a sandwich, Falman was doing some work, fury was playing with Hayaye and Monroe was think on how to hurt Roy now that he was alone. "Hey boss, where's Chiko? She's normally with you." Havoc asked looking at the colonel. "She's at home with Ed and Alphonse playing in the snow. Apparently she's never seen snow before and I wanted to have some fun." "Aw! That's very sweet of you colonel." Roy gave fury a half smile and nodded before getting back to work as Hawkeye glanced at him with a small smile on her face. She loved that he was dedicated to Chiko and how they enjoyed each other's company.
After the whole Chiko scare, Ed and Al decided to not to a snowball fight again and just laid in the snow doing snow angels. They had a fun day today, they just wish Roy was here to play with them. Then it would have been perfect, as Ed started at the sky suddenly someone blocked his vision. "How're you doing down there?" "Colonel?" Roy smirked and asked. "Did you boys have fun?" "Yeah! We had loads of fun!" Ed said as Al got up from laying down and looked at Roy saying. "There was one incident where we nearly lost Chiko but we found her." Roy looked at Al and said. "Thank you for taking care of her you guys." Ed got up from the ground and looked at Roy saying. "Don't worry colonel! We won't let anything happen to Chiko."
Roy looked shock for a moment before smiling and said. "Thank you guys." "Your welcome." "How was work colonel?" Al asked curiously, they knew that without Chiko Monroe would take the advantage and hurt Roy but he smiled and said. "It was a slow day today, nothing I can't handle and no nothing bad happened." Ed and al didn't look convinced but Roy looked at them reassuringly and nodded. Ed and Al sighed in relief and Ed was about to hand Chiko to Roy but noticed she was gone. He started to panic and looked for her, until Roy felt something on his knee and looked down to see Chiko climbing up.
Roy grabbed Chiko and looked at Ed asking. "Is this what your looking for?" Ed stopped what he was doing and saw Chiko on Roy's hand. He sighed in relief that she was okay. Before he said anything else, he shivered a little and held his arms for warmth. "Are you getting cold brother?" "Yeah, I am. We played so hard that I didn't even notice." Roy chuckled and said. "You wouldn't survive in Briggs but oh well. Let's get inside for some hot chocolate." Ed cheered at that and they got up to go inside. Roy noticed their snowman and said. "Nice work on the snowman boys." "Thanks! But it wasn't just us, Chiko helped to!" "Yeah. She helped put snow around the edges and put the carrot on, granted we helped with that one but she did help."
Roy smiled and patted Chiko looking at her saying. "That's my girl alright. Let's go inside." After they went inside, Roy made hot chocolate and dinner. He had picked up some books for Alphonse to read that he might like. One was a book about cats, one was mystery and the other was a romantic novel that Al had been talking about reading for awhile while he got Ed some books on alchemy. "Thank you colonel for the books." "Yes thank you sir!" Ed and Al said, liking their presents. Roy smirked at that and nodded saying. "Your welcome boys."
Roy was done cooking and put the food in the bowls, he had made stew for dinner. He was surprised to learn that Ed had gotten the household things for the snowman instead of Al and found the milk still there, maybe he finally learned not to always throw things away. 'Sheesh.' Roy thought in his head as he placed the bowls down. He gave Chiko a small bowl of seed to munch on while they ate and Al read. After dinner, the four decided to call it a night and headed to bed. Roy sat in the bath thinking as Chiko paddled around, clearly enjoying herself. 'Monroe didn't get me per say but he did do something to my drink, I felt my bones sag and I had felt weak again. Whatever he's been giving me, it's making me worried.' He was snapped out of his thoughts when he heard Chiko squeaking, he looked at her and she did a back flip in the water. Roy smiled and said. "That was so good Chiko, I'm proud."
Chiko smiled at that praise and paddled towards Roy, who in return cupped his hands under her and lifted her up. "I love you Chiko." She squeaked as if saying the same thing. They get out, get dried and dressed then get into bed. Roy slept on his side with Chiko sleeping on the pillow next to him and thought to himself. 'I promise Chiko, i will never let anything happen until the day I die.' He promised and closed his eyes, going to sleep.
