The next day, Devon and Harry walk with Ron and Hermione through the school grounds, telling them what they had seen through Tom Riddled diary last night. Harry seemed to believe in what he saw, but Devon and Hermione were not so sure.
"It was Hagrid. Hagrid opened the Chamber of Secrets 50 years ago." Harry says
"It can't be. It just can't be." Hermione says
"Yeah. I'm with Hermione on this one, Harry. I don't really see how it can be Hagrid. He's friends of Dumbledore. He trusts him." Devon says
"We don't even know this Tom Riddle. He sounds like a dirty, rotten snitch to me." Ron says
"The monster killed somebody, Ron. What would any of us have done?" Harry says
The Keyblade Wielder and the Wizarding Trio soon stop and turn to each other.
"Look, Hagrid's our friend. Why don't we just go and ask him about it?" Hermione says
"That would be a cheerful visit. 'Hello, Hagrid. Tell us... have you been setting anything mad and hairy loose in the castle lately?'" Ron says
Unknown to the heroes, Hagrid came up right behind them as Ron said this.
"Mad and hairy? You wouldn't be talking about me, now, would you?" Hagrid asks
"No." The four heroes say in unison turning to the Gamekeeper
Devon, Harry, Ron, and Hermione shared an awkward silence with Hagrid until Devon and Harry noticed something in the Half-giant's right-hand.
"What's that you've got, Hagrid?" Harry asks
Hagrid looks down at his hand and he lifts it up, showing that he was holding a metal garden dispenser.
"Oh, it's, uh, Flesh-Eating Slug Repellent. For the Mandrakes, you know? According to Professor Sprout, they've still got a bit of growing up to do, but once their acne's cleared up, we'll be able to chop them up and stew them. and then we'll get those people at the hospital un-petrified. In the meantime, though, you four had best be looking out for yourselves. All right?" Hagrid says
The four heroes nod their heads in agreement. Hagrid nods his head and he turns around, setting out to his task. As Devon and his friends watched him leave, Neville comes running onto the grounds.
"Hello, Neville." Hagrid greets
Neville runs past Hagrid on his right and approaches the Keyblade Wielder and the Wizarding Trio with a half-panicked look on his face.
"Neville? What's wrong?" Devon asks
"Harry, Devon, I don't know who did it, but you better come quick! Come on!" Neville says
The four heroes shared concerned glances with each other and they quickly follow Neville back into the castle.
Neville leads Devon, Harry, Ron, and Hermione back to the Gryffindor common room and they climb up to the dormitory to find it a mess. A lantern laid on the floor with broken glass everywhere. Books littered the floor. Papers were ripped. And Harry's bed was torn up with the pillows piled up ontop of each other and feathers all over the bed and the floor. Hedwig was perched on the dresser to the right of Harry's bed, gazing over at Devon and the four Gryffindors as they came upon the scene.
"Wow. Someone really tore up this room." Devon says
Devon and Harry move to look through the mess while Ron, Hermione, and Neville watched them. Harry moves his books and stacks them up while Devon moves the feathers away with his hands.
"Do you see it anywhere?" Devon asks
"No." Harry says shaking his head
"It had to be a Gryffindor. Nobody else knows our password. Unless it wasn't a student." Hermione says
"Whoever it was, they must've been looking for something." Ron says
"Well, they found it." Devon says dusting his hands off on his pants
Devon and Harry rise up to their feet, not finding what they were looking for. The Keyblade Wielder places his hands on his waist and let out a sigh, staring down at the mess before he and Harry turned to Ron and Hermione, telling them what was gone.
"Tom Riddle's diary is missing." Devon says
The next day, despite having lost Tom Riddle's diary, Harry continued on with his days at Hogwarts. So far, the disembodied voice had been quiet. Hopefully, the attacks had ceased.
Today was the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. Harry, Wood, and their team were in their tent just outside the stadium, going over their strategy for the game. Behind Wood was a blackboard displaying the pitch with arrow drawn showing the flight paths of the players.
"All right, listen up. We play our game, Hufflepuff doesn't stand a chance." Wood says
Ready for the game, the Gryffindor team make their way out of the tent.
"We're stronger, quicker, and smarter." Wood says
"Not to mention, they're dead scared that Harry will petrify them if they fly anywhere near him." Fred says
"Well, that too." Wood says
As they exit the tent and head toward the entrance to the stadium, Professor McGonagall come out to meet them.
"Professor McGonagall." Wood greets
"This match has been cancelled." McGonagall says holding up her hands
"They can't cancel Quidditch." Wood says with a surprised expression
"Silence, Wood. You and your teammates will go to Gryffindor tower now." McGonagall says
Obeying the Transfiguration teacher, Wood and the rest of Gryffindor team head back to the castle while McGonagall turns to Harry.
"Potter, you and I will find Devon and Mr. Weasley. There's something the three of you have to see." McGonagall says
Earlier that day, while Harry was busy preparing himself for the Quidditch game, Devon rode through the Forbidden Forest with Alura LightHeart and her unicorn sisters as he met up with them. He told the unicorns about what he and the Wizarding Trio discovered from their night with Malfoy and what he and Harry saw through Tom Riddle's diary.
"Do you girls think Hagrid opened the Chamber of Secrets 50 years ago?" Devon asks
"Never! Hagrid would never do such a thing!" Alura says
"It's true. He's as gentle as a kitten. He wouldn't harm a fly." Evelyn says
"Our mother knew Hagrid longer than any of us. She cared for him a great deal. Ever since he first became a student at Hogwarts, Hagrid always had a deep love for magical creatures, including us unicorns. It's just not in his character to threaten the school in such a manner." Stella says
"What about Tom Riddle? Know anything about him?" Devon asks
"Tom Riddle? He seemed to be calm and intelligent, but he was very secretive. Even our mother felt suspicious about him." Alura says
"Dumbledore seemed to think there was something strange about Tom Riddle too. I saw the look he gave him. He must've known something." Devon says
"Well, what about you, Devon? You don't honestly think that Hagrid opened the Chamber, do you?" Silvia asks
Devon shakes his head.
"No. I don't believe it was him. And neither does Hermione. She went over to the school library to see if she could find anything else about the monster. I should be expecting to hear from her soon." Devon says
Thinking back to what he saw in Tom Riddle's diary, Devon remembers when Riddle confronted Hagrid in the dungeons, he tried to kill Hagrid's pet acromantula, which fled past him and Harry in the castle. If he recalled correctly, it's name was Aragog. If it knew something about the Chamber of Secrets...
"Hey, girls. Know anything about a spider named Aragog?" Devon asks
"Yes. He was Hagrid's pet during his time as a student. Why?" Alura says
"Tom Riddle accused him of being the monster that killed the girl when he confronted Hagrid. But he's not, is he?" Devon says
"No. Aragog was harmless given his small size at the time. Hagrid cared for him deeply and he always kept him inside his box. He would never let him leave his side." Stella says
"Even if he was harmless, was he ever capable of killing a human being, or even petrifying them like Colin and Justin?" Devon asks
"Acromantulas are carnivorous creatures and possess venomous toxins, but still, Aragog was only just a small spider in Hagrid's care. His venom probably wasn't even fully developed yet. If anything, the girl would've received only a small bite. Nothing life-threatening. And spiders like Aragog do not have the ability to petrify their victims. They mostly rely on their venom." Evelyn says
"Well, something killed that girl the night the Chamber was opened, and something caused Mrs. Norris, Colin, and Justin to turn up petrified. If it wasn't Aragog, then what?" Devon says
Devon continued on with his ride as he and the unicorns traveled back to Hogwarts. Devon wished he could've learned more about the monster. Hopefully, Hermione found that out.
The Keyblade Wielder and the unicorns arrive onto the school grounds when Professor McGonagall walks up to them with Harry on her left. Devon was confused. Why was Harry with McGonagall? Did she need him for something? Or did something happen?
"Devon." McGonagall greets
"Professor McGonagall." Devon greets
"Would you come with me please?" McGonagall asks
Devon and Alura shared concerned glances with each other, but the young teen climbed down from the unicorn's back, complying with the Transfiguration teacher's request.
"Is something wrong?" Devon asks
"Please. I only ask that you and Potter follow me. There's something you must see." McGonagall says
Devon glances back at Alura and her sisters before he joins Professor McGonagall, walking alongside Harry as they head for the castle. The unicorns watch as they go, each with a look of worry and concern on their faces.
Once they find Ron, Professor McGonagall leads the three boys to the hospital wing.
"I warn you. This could be a wee a bit of a shock." McGonagall warns
The Transfiguration teacher walks over to a medical bed where Madame Pomfrey stood awaiting their arrival. Devon, Harry, and Ron look down at the bed and were shocked by what they saw. Lying on the bed was Hermione petrified with her right-arm stretched out as if she were holding something. The Keyblade Wielder and the two young wizards stared at her frozen form with widened eyes and open mouths.
"Hermione..." Ron gasps
"No..." Devon gasps
Devon walks over to Hermione's right-side and places his left-hand on her bed, wincing his eyes shut in pain. Opening his eyes, he looks over at Professor McGonagall on his right.
"Where was she found?" Devon asks
"Near the library... Along with this." McGonagall says
McGonagall picks up a small handheld mirror, which was set upon the table stand on the left-side of the medical bed, showing it to the boys.
"Does it mean anything to either of you?" McGonagall asks
"No." Harry says shaking his head
The three boys stared down at Hermione's frozen form as they had lost the brains of their group. First, it was Colin. Then, Justin. And now, Hermione.
After seeing Hermione in the hospital wing, Devon, Harry, and Ron gathered in the Gryffindor common room along with the other Gryffindors as they waited for Professor McGonagall. The attack on Hermione proved that Harry was truthfully innocent since he would never attack one of his friends. Soon, the Transfiguration teacher came into the room with a scroll rolled up in her hands.
"Could I have your attention, please?" McGonagall asks
Everyone in the common room direct their attention to Professor McGonagall.
"Because of recent events, these new rules will be put into effect immediately." McGonagall announces
The Transfiguration teacher unfurls her scroll and reads what was written on the piece of parchment.
"All students will return to their house common rooms by 6:00 every evening. All students will be escorted to each lesson by a teacher. No exceptions." McGonagall reads
Once she was done reading, McGonagall rolls up the scroll and looks at the Gryffindors with a troubled expression.
"I should tell you this. Unless the culprit behind these attacks is caught, it is likely the school will be closed." McGonagall says
Having said that, the Transfiguration teacher takes her leave, heading out of the common room. Most of the Gryffindors remained silent while some muttered in disbelief. Each of them had concerned and worried looks on their faces. As they stood in the stairwell to the upper level of the dormitory, Devon, Harry, and Ron turn to each other.
"Guys, we've got to talk to Hagrid. I can't believe it's him." Harry says
"I'm with you on that, Harry. I don't believe it was Hagrid either. He just doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would do something like this." Devon says
"But if he did set the monster loose last time, he'll know how to get inside the Chamber of Secrets." Harry says
"Maybe, but we still don't know what kind of monster we're dealing with, how it's getting around the school, or how Hermione and the other victims got petrified." Devon says
"Well, it's a start." Harry says
"But you guys heard McGonagall. We're not allowed to leave the tower except for class." Ron says
Harry's eyes look off to the right, then looks back at his two friends with an idea.
"I think it's time to get my dad's old cloak out again." Harry says
Later that night, Devon, Harry, and Ron snuck out of the castle using their Invisibility cloak as they moved across the grounds toward Hagrid's hut. Harry was wearing a dark navy blue hooded jacket and tan trousers while Ron wore a dark black and grey plaid shirt and tan trousers.
Hagrid was in his hut with his dog, Fang, making himself some tea when he heard three loud knocks on the door. He closes the lid of his red teapot and grabs his large crossbow, aiming it towards the door.
"Who's there?" Hagrid asks
The Half-giant walks over to the door and kicks it open with his left-foot, but there was nobody outside. Hagrid looks on with a puzzled expression. Was someone playing tricks on him? Or was he losing his mind?
"Hello? Hello?" Hagrid says
Right before his eyes, Devon, Harry, and Ron emerge from underneath their Invisibility Cloak. Once he saw the three boys, Hagrid let out a sigh of relief and lowered his crossbow.
"Hagrid, we need-" Devon says
Devon immediately stopped when he and the two young wizards noticed the large weapon in Hagrid's hands.
"What's that for?" Harry asks
"Oh, nothing. I was expecting... It doesn't matter." Hagrid says
Hagrid beckons the three boys to enter his hut with his left-hand, asking them to come inside.
"Come on in. I made a pot of tea." Hagrid says
Devon, Harry, and Ron enter the hut and stand inside as Hagrid sets his crossbow down. The Half-giant grabs his teapot and pours some tea into a blue and white polka-dotted cup, but he overfills it and the tea spills over onto the plate of the same color. The three boys notice the shakiness in Hagrid's hands and the nervous expression on his face. Was something troubling him? Was it the attacks on the school? Or was it something else?
"Hagrid? Are you alright?" Harry asks
"I'm fine. I'm alright." Hagrid says
"Are you sure? You seem a little on edge." Devon asks
"No, really. I'm fine." Hagrid says
"Did you hear about Hermione?" Harry asks
"Oh, yeah, I heard about that, all right. I'm sorry about her." Hagrid says
"Look, we have to ask you something." Harry says
Harry glances over at Devon and Ron and the Keyblade Wielder nods his head, telling him to go ahead. The wizard boy turns back to Hagrid and asks his question.
"Do you know who opened the Chamber of Secrets?" Harry asks
"What you have to understand about that is-" Hagrid says
Before Hagrid could explain, three knocks are heard at the door, causing the Half-giant and the three boys to look back at the door to the hut. Fang let out two loud barks while Hagrid glances back at the three boys.
"Quick, under the cloak. Don't say a word. Keep quiet." Hagrid says
Devon nods his head and he, Harry, and Ron quickly hide back under the Invisibility Cloak as Hagrid turns to the door. Grabbing his crossbow, Hagrid cautiously approaches the door, wondering who it might be. He opens the door with his right-hand and lets out another relieved sigh. It was Dumbledore, but he was not alone. With him was a portly little man with rumpled grey hair. This was Cornelius Oswald Fudge, the Minister of Magic.
Cornelius Fudge was a British/Irish Half-blood wizard who seemed to be bumptious, good-natured, well-mannered, and eccentric, keeping a calm exterior. As the Minister of Magic, his duty was to ensure there was peace, security, and control in the wizarding community and the Wizarding World.
He wore a pinstriped suit, a scarlet tie, a long black travelling cloak, and pointed purple boots, consistent with his authoritarian figure.
"Oh, Professor Dumbledore, sir." Hagrid says
"Good evening, Hagrid. I wonder, could we...?" Dumbledore greets
"Of course. Come in. Come in." Hagrid says
Dumbledore and Fudge step into Hagrid's hut while Devon, Harry, and Ron observed them from under their cloak.
"Who's that next to Dumbledore?" Devon asks
"That's Dad's boss, Cornelius Fudge, the Minister of Magic." Ron whispers
"Bad business, Hagrid, very bad business. Had to come. Three attacks on Muggle-borns. Things have gone far enough. The Ministry's got to act." Fudge says
"But I never..." Hagrid says
The Half-giant looks over at the Headmaster on his right.
"You know I never, professor." Hagrid says
"I want it understood, Cornelius, that Hagrid has my full confidence." Dumbledore says
"Albus, look, Hagrid's record is against him. I've got to take him." Fudge says
"Take me? Take me where? Not Azkaban Prison!" Hagrid says
"I'm afraid we have no choice, Hagrid." Fudge says
"Azkaban Prison?" Devon asks
"It's a fortress where all bad witches and wizards get sent. Bloody awful place. It's literally a madhouse. Most criminals have died there." Ron says
As the Gamekeeper, Headmaster, and Minister talked amongst themselves, the door to Hagrid's hut creaks opens as they had another visitor. It was Lucius Malfoy., who had a calm look on his face. He was pleased when he saw the Minister of Magic.
"Already here, Fudge? Good." Lucius says
Fang growls menacingly as Lucius stepped inside the hut. Hagrid held an angry expression as he looked over at Lucius, knowing well enough that he was a Pure-blood supremacist. Not wanting to tolerate his presence, the Half-giant demanded that he leave his home.
"What are you doing here? Get out of my house!" Hagrid says with venom in his voice
"Believe me, I take absolutely no pleasure being inside your..." Lucius says
Lucius glances around the hut, coming close to where the three boys were standing.
"You call this a house? Hm." Lucius says
Lucius turns around and faces Dumbledore, setting his gaze on him.
"No, I simply called at the school and was told the Headmaster was here." Lucius says
"Well, what exactly is it that you want with me?" Dumbledore asks
"The other governors and I have decided it's time for you to step aside." Lucius says
Lucius holds up a scroll and hands it to the Headmaster.
"This is an order of suspension. You'll find all 12 signatures on it." Lucius says
Dumbledore takes the scroll from Lucius and holds it in his right-hand.
"I'm afraid we feel you've rather lost your touch. Well, what, with all these attacks, there'll be no Muggle-borns left at Hogwarts." Lucius says
The elder Malfoy turns and looks over at the fireplace, walking close to where the three boys were.
"I can only imagine what an awful loss that would be to the school." Lucius says
Devon felt his blood boil as he stared at Lucius Malfoy, knowing how much he despised Muggle-borns. He wished he could give him a piece of his mind about his prejudiced views right then and there, but he couldn't without blowing their cover.
"I'd bet you'd love that, you lousy, no good, son of a-" Devon mutters quietly
"You can't take Professor Dumbledore away. Take him away, the Muggle-borns won't stand a chance. You mark my words, there'll be killings next." Hagrid says
Lucius turns to Hagrid on his right as he said this.
"You think so?" Lucius asks
"Calm yourself, Hagrid. If the governors desire my removal, I will, of course, step aside. However..." Dumbledore says
The Headmaster steps closer to Lucius.
"...you will find that help will always be given at Hogwarts to those who ask for it." Dumbledore says
Dumbledore subtly looked past Lucius with his eyes, gazing over where Devon, Harry, and Ron was hiding. It seemed as though he was staring right at them and was aware of their presence. Lucius turns around slightly to the right, following Dumbledore's gaze as he wondered what he was looking at. He simply dismisses it and turns back to the Headmaster.
"Admirable sentiments. Shall we?" Lucius says
Lucius walks toward the door and opens it. Dumbledore kept his gaze on the three boys for a small moment before turning to take his leave.
"Dumbledore..." Devon whispers as he watched him leave
Lucius holds open the door for the Headmaster as he leaves the hut, then looks over at the Minister.
"Fudge." Lucius says
The Minister watches as Lucius takes his leave, then glances over at Hagrid.
"Come, Hagrid." Fudge says
Fudge takes a few steps toward the door, then looks back at Hagrid as he just stood where he was.
"Well?" Fudge says
Hagrid looks around the room, speaking out subtly to the Keyblade Wielder and the two young wizards, who he remembered were still in the hut.
"If, uh,... If anybody was looking for some stuff, then all they'd have to do is follow the spiders. Yep. That would lead them right. That's all I have to say." Hagrid says
The Half-giant starts walking to the door until he stops for a moment, remembering one more thing.
"Oh, and someone'll need to feed Fang while I'm away." Hagrid says
Having said that, Hagrid steps out of his hut. Fudge looks over at Fang as he laid on the large red chair. The dog let out a growl.
"Good boy." Fudge says
Fudge leaves the hut and shuts the door. Once they were gone, Devon, Harry, and Ron come out from the Invisibility cloak, stunned by what they heard.
"Hagrid's right. With Dumbledore gone, there'll be an attack a day." Ron says
"Not if we have anything to say about it." Devon says
Harry looks off to his left and notices something.
"Look." Harry says pointing with his left-hand
The three boys look toward the stone wall behind the chair that Fang was laying on and they saw spiders crawling away, going up and out the open window.
"Come on." Harry says
Harry walks toward the door and grabs the large lantern that stood nearby. Devon walks over to Fang and pats him three times on his back.
"Come on, Fang." Devon says
Fang gets up and jumps down from the chair, following the boys as they head outside. Going around the hut, the heroes watch as the spiders crawl down from the window and toward the ground as they head into the Forbidden Forest.
"Let's go." Devon says
"What?" Ron says
"You heard what Hagrid said: 'Follow the spiders'." Devon says
"They're heading into the Forbidden Forest." Ron says
"Ron, this may be our only chance to save Hogwarts, Dumbledore, Hagrid, and the others. It's a risk we have to take. Now, let's go." Devon says
Devon and Harry continued onward with Fang while Ron stood where he was.
"Why spiders? Why couldn't it be 'follow the butterflies'?" Ron groans
Although he was nervous, Ron hesitantly followed his two friends as they followed the spiders into the forest.
Unknown to them, Alura watched as the boys headed into the Forbidden Forest. She had been hiding close to the hut, listening to the whole meeting with Dumbledore, Hagrid, Fudge, and Lucius Malfoy. Now watching the Keyblade Wielder and two young wizards, she knew where they were going.
"Oh no... They're going to see Aragog! I've got to get the girls!" Alura gasps
Turning around, Alura heads off into the Forbidden Forest, going off in a different direction to get her sisters. With the boys heading for the spiders home, they would need their help if they wanted to get back to Hogwarts alive.
The forest was dark and misty as Devon, Harry, Ron, and Fang continued to follow the trail of spiders. While Devon and Harry kept their eyes on the ground, Ron glances around nervously.
"Harry, Devon, I don't like this. I don't like this at all." Ron says
The three boys approached the ridge of a vast hollow and watched as the spiders crawled into a webby tunnel going under the gigantic roots of a large tree. They crouch down and proceed through the tunnel. Reaching the other side, they stand up and emerge into a large hollow. Webs were everywhere, strewn around and above the hollow.
After following the small insects for several minutes, Devon, Harry, and Ron stop and watch as the spiders crawl into a massive hole in the ground. Then, they heard loud footsteps and the crunching sound of branches breaking. A male voice speaks out from the hole, aware of the heroes' presence.
"Who is it?" The voice asks
"Ron, don't panic." Devon says leaning over to Ron on his right
"Hagrid? Is that you?" The voice asks
"We're friends of Hagrid's." Devon says
From the hole slowly emerged a large Acromantula. His name: Aragog. He was roughly the size of a small elephant with a grey and black hairy body and black eyes.
Ron whimpered as he tried very hard to refrain himself from screaming since he was deeply fearful of arachnids. Devon and Harry stared with widened eyes. They had to admit: This was a very big spider.
"You're Aragog, aren't you?" Devon asks
"Yes. Hagrid has never sent men into our hollow before." Aragog says
"We were hoping you could help us, Aragog. It's about Hagrid and the Chamber of Secrets." Devon says
"He's in trouble. Up at the school, there's been attacks. They think it's Hagrid. They think he opened the Chamber of Secrets, like before." Harry says
"That's a lie. Hagrid never opened the Chamber of Secrets." Aragog says
"Then, you're not the monster?" Devon says
"No. The monster was born in the castle. I came to Hagrid from a distant land... in the pocket of a traveler." Aragog says
While Devon and Harry were busy talking with Aragog, Ron looked around nervously at the webs around them. He caught sight of movement, seeing spider legs slinking away. They were not alone.
"Harry... Devon..." Ron whimpers
"Shush." Harry says turning to Ron for a second before returning back to the conversation
"We're sorry for what happened to you, Aragog. All those years ago. Being accused as the monster. I'm sure Hagrid must've been devastated when you fled the castle." Devon says
"But if you're not the monster, then what killed that girl 50 years ago?" Harry asks
"We do not speak of it. It is an ancient creature we spiders fear above all others." Aragog says
"Have you ever seen it? The monster?" Devon asks
"I never saw any part of the castle, but the box in which Hagrid kept me." Aragog says
"And what about the girl? Where was she found?" Devon asks
"The girl was discovered dead in a bathroom. When I was accused of her death, Hagrid brought me here." Aragog says
"Harry... Devon..." Ron whimpers
"What?" Harry asks annoyed as he and Devon turn to Ron on their right
Ron whimpers and points his right-hand up. Devon and Harry look up above them and their eyes widened with shock. Dozens of large spiders descended down from the web-infested trees, each looking mighty hungry as they clicked their pincers excitingly.
"Uh... Well, thank you, Aragog. You've been a big help. We'll... just be going now." Devon says pointing back with his right-thumb
"Go? I think not. My sons and daughters do not harm Hagrid on my command, but I cannot deny them fresh meat when it wanders so willingly into our midst. Good-bye, friends of Hagrid." Aragog says
"Can we panic now?" Ron asks in a whimpering voice
A large spider drops down close to the three boys, drawing their attention. The hungry creature lunges at the boys, but Harry swings his lantern at it, causing the spider to stagger backwards. Another spider lunges at them, only to be sent back as Harry swings the lantern at it, breaking it in the process.
Throwing the broken lantern away, Harry takes out his wand and aims it at the spiders. Ron takes out his wand, forgetting that it was broken, as stands with Harry. Devon summons his Keyblade: Soul Calibur in a flash of blue light and holds it out with both hands infront of him.
Devon stared at the spiders as they clicked their pincers, then glances down at his Keyblade in his hands. A weapon of light such as this would do some serious damage to the spiders. And although they were carnivorous creatures, these spiders were still Aragog's children, his family. Devon closes his eyes for a moment, then opens them up. In a flash of light, he changes Soul Calibur into it's Crystal Wand Form and aims it out in defense.
The three boys stand back-to-back as the colony of spiders surround them, bracing themselves.
"Know any spells?" Ron asks
"One, but it's not powerful enough for all of them." Harry says
"Where's Hermione when you need her?" Ron says
"It's a good thing you boys have us." A female voice says
The Keyblade Wielder and the young wizards looked up and they saw Alura LightHeart and her unicorn sisters standing on the ridge above them. Alura rises up on her hind legs and lets out a whinny.
"Alura! Girls!" Devon exclaims happily
The unicorns jump down from the ridge and land infront of Devon, Harry, and Ron surrounding them.
"Sorry, Aragog, but these boys are with us." Alura says
"We cannot allow them to become meat for your children. Not when Hogwarts needs them." Stella says
"Dinner is cancelled." Valoria says
"You creepy crawlies won't hurt my dear, sweet Keyblade Wielder!" Brianna says
"Leave Devon and his friends alone!" Silvia says
The spiders backed off from the unicorns for a bit, but they soon crawled towards them not wanting to lose their feast. Within moments, the spiders attacked, squealing and screeching as they closed in on the group.
Alura stood up on her hind legs and stomps her fore legs down on a spider that charged at them. Two more spiders crawled toward the female unicorn from the front. Using her magical horn, Alura shoots a bright beam of blue light at the spiders, blasting them away.
Stella picks up a spider with her head and tosses it away, sending the large insect flying. Glancing over towards another spider on her right, she shoots an arctic blue magic blast from her horn as it charges at her. The large creature is hit by the magic blast and is frozen on the spot, immobilized and unable to move.
Valoria rams her head into a spider, then kicks another one away with her hind legs. Three spiders charge at the unicorn from the front as she faces them. With her horn glowing with it's magical aura, Valoria shoots a golden beam of light at the spiders, blasting them away as she sweeps from left to right.
Evelyn aims her magic horn and blasts a spider away with a purple magic blast. Turning to her left, she saw three spiders crawling toward her. Evelyn shoots another magical blast from her horn and it hits the spiders. causing them to shrink until they were the small size of actual spiders. The now tiny insects panicked and let out high-pitched squeals, quickly crawl away from the gigantic unicorn.
Brianna kicks her right-hind leg in a spider's face, kicking her hoof into it's eight eyes, causing it to squeal and stagger backwards a bit. Then, while the hairy insect was dazed, she sits down on the spider, pinning it to the ground underneath her huge rear as it screeched and squealed, trying to get out.
"You're grounded, little spider... under my butt! Tee hee hee!" Brianna giggles
Leila and Silvia both stood together as a couple spiders stalked toward them. One of them lets out a squeal and they all charge at the two unicorns at once. Leila and Silvia's horns both glow with their magical aura. Leila's horn glowed with a cyan color while Silvia's horn emitted a pale blue color. Within moments, both unicorns shoot their own colored beams of light, blasting away the spiders. Silvia stared in surprise by what she had accomplished while Leila jumped up and down, proud of her little sister.
"That was awesome, Silvia! You were great!" Leila cheers
"I... I was?" Silvia asks
"Yeah! Totally, girl!" Leila says
Silvia looks at her older sister and she smiled. The two unicorns quickly turned back to the spiders as more came down.
Devon, Harry, and Ron stood together as three spiders stalked towards them, clicking their pincers. Aiming their wands, the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy cast their spells.
"Arania Exumai!" Devon chants
"Arania Exumai!" Harry chants
A beam of blue-white light shoots out from the two boys' wands, blasting the spiders away, only to be replaced by even more spiders. The large colony soon had the three boys and seven unicorns surrounded.
"I really don't like this." Ron whimpers
"There's too many!" Harry says
"We need to get out of here! Now!" Devon says
The group braced themselves as the spiders drew closer. But before the giant insects could attack, the loud sound of a car engine igniting fills the air. Turning around, they saw the enchanted Ford Angelia drive over the ridge and into the hollow, ramming through the spiders. The car stops a few feet infront of the heroes and it's doors open.
"The car!" Ron exclaims
"Come on!" Harry says
Devon, Harry, and Ron rush for the car while the unicorns kept the spiders away. One of the large insects manages to slip past the unicorns and charges at Ron as he makes it first to the car. Ron gets into the car and shuts the door just as the spider reaches him, only to get it's leg caught in the door. Devon, Harry, and Fang run to their side of the vehicle when a spider charges at them from up front. The Keyblade Wielder quickly aims his crystal wand and casts his spell.
"Arania Exumai!" Devon chants
Soul Calibur shoots out a beam of blue-white light and blasts the spider away. De-summoning his Keyblade, Devon gets into the car with Harry and Fang.
Three spiders charge at the car and attack. One smashes into the left side of the Ford Angelia. Another one jumps down onto the roof and a third drops onto the hood. Alura and Stella turn to the vehicle and they both gasp in shock. The two unicorns move quickly to help the three boys. Stella shoots a blue magic blast at the spider at the side of the car on her right while Alura shoots a bright blue beam of light at the spider above the car. Alura then kicks the third spider off the hood with her hind legs. After dealing with the large insects, Alura and Stella turn to each other.
"Alura! Go with the boys! Get them out of the forest and back to Hogwarts! We'll draw off Aragog's children!" Stella says
"Alright! Be careful, sister!" Alura says
Stella nods her head and she turns to her sisters. She snorts and rises up onto her hind legs, letting out a whinny.
"Let's go!" Stella says
Stella gallops out of the hollow with her other sisters as dozens of spiders pursued them while Alura remained behind with the Keyblade Wielder, the two young wizards, and Fang.
"C'mon, you creepy crawlies! You want dinner, you gotta catch it!" Valoria says
Devon, Harry, and Ron watch as the unicorns disappear into the forest while Alura stood by them.
"They'll draw away the spiders. Now quick! Follow me!" Alura says
The unicorn gallops up the slope where the Ford Angelia came from and she jumps over the ridge. The three boys watch her
"You heard her, Ron. Go! Go! Reverse!" Devon says
Ron shifts the gear into reverse and the car quickly backs up. The Ford Angelia flies out of the hollow and over the ridge while the three boys screamed.
"Whoa!" Devon, Harry, and Ron exclaim in unison
Ron stops the car and the three boys turn to each other, taking a moment to catch their breath.
"Glad were out of there." Ron sighs with relief
Suddenly, a spider emerges from the driver's side and grabs Ron's neck with it's pincers.
Not far from them, Alura saw the spider attacking the car and she gasps in shock. She moves to go and help them, but then three spiders drop down and block her path. Alura rises up onto her hind legs and kicks her front legs, letting out a whinny.
Back in the car, Ron was struggling with the spider, grabbing it's pincers and shaking around to free himself. Harry takes out his wand and aims it at the spider, casting his spell.
"Arania Exumai!" Harry chants
A beam of blue light shoots out of Harry's wand, blasting the spider away.
"Thanks for that." Ron says
"Don't mention it." Harry says putting his wand away
Soon, the boys heard Alura's panicked whinnying and they look ahead to see her kicking her front legs as three spiders surrounded her.
"Alura!" Harry and Ron exclaim in unison
Before Harry or Ron could do anything, a hand stretches out in-between them from the back seat. They both looked back and saw Devon with his right-hand extended out and his palm open. Using his telekinetic powers of the Force, he lifts the spiders up into the air, away from Alura, who gets back down on all fours and watches as the large creatures ascend above her. The spiders squealed and screeched in panic, flailing their legs as they were lifted off the ground. Devon closes his eyes for a moment, but soon opens them and thrusts his hand forward, launching the spiders through the air and into the darkness of the forest.
Alura held an astonished expression on her face and turns back to the car, looking towards Devon, realizing that he had saved her again. Harry and Ron shared similar expressions as they glanced back at Devon as he lowered his hand.
"Bloody hell..." Ron says amazed
"Nice work, Devon." Harry says
"Thanks." Devon says
Suddenly, Devon found himself staring at the ridge and his eyes widened with shock. Harry and Ron followed his gaze and their eyes widened as well. Alura heard clicking sounds coming from behind. She turns around and gasps in shock. Dozens of spiders emerge from over the ridge, clicking their pincers excitingly.
"Oh, boy..." Devon says
Alura gallops toward the car and tells the boys to follow her as she runs past.
"This way!" Alura says
Ron puts the car in reverse again and turns the car around, then shifts the gear to drive as he stomps his foot down on the gas pedal. The Ford Angelia speeds off through the forest, following Alura as she led the way.
The heroes soon head towards a fallen tree where dozens of spiders gathered to ambush them. Alura picks up speed and gallops toward the spiders. Within moments, she leaps high over the tree and the spiders. Landing on the other side, she continues running until she leaves out of the forest. The boys noticed the ambush up ahead. They had to get the car flying, otherwise they would crash.
"Get us in the air!" Harry says
Ron grabs the gear shifter and pulls it down to get the car flying, but it was stuck. They were quickly closing in on the spiders.
"Come on! Pull! Up!" Harry exclaims
"I'm trying!" Ron exclaims
Harry grabs the gear shifter with Ron and they both pull down. With their combined strength, the shifter finally gives way and the Ford Angelia takes flight, lifting off into the air, just missing the fallen tree by inches.
Alura gallops out of the forest and arrives first at Hagrid's hut. She shakes her body off, then looks up to see the flying Ford Angelia appear over the trees. The car descends and crashes down on the ground. Having made it out of the Forbidden Forest, Devon, Harry, and Ron exit out of the car. Fang jumps out and heads back into Hagrid's hut.
"Follow the spiders. Follow the spiders! If Hagrid ever gets out of Azkaban, I'll kill him!" Ron says
The Keyblade Wielder and two young wizards turn to the female unicorn as she trots over to them.
"Are you boys alright?" Alura asks in concern
"Yeah. Thanks for the help back there." Devon says
The four then turn to the car as it's doors shut and watch as it drives back into the forest.
"I mean, what was the point of sending us in there? What have we found out?" Ron asks
"We know one thing. Hagrid never opened the Chamber of Secrets. He was innocent." Harry says
"He was framed." Devon says
"So now what?" Ron asks
Devon and Harry said nothing. They didn't know what to do at this point. With no suspects, no other clues to the identity of the monster, and no location of the Chamber of Secrets, there was nothing that could be done. They had hit a dead end.
Author's Note: Things have gone from bad to worse at Hogwarts... Hermione has fallen victim to the monster. Hogwarts is on the brink of closing it's doors. Hagrid's been taken to Azkaban Prison, an innocent framed for the incident. And Dumbledore has been suspended from the school. Now, it's up to Devon, Harry, and Ron to save them both and Hogwarts. And there's only one way to do that. It's time to venture down to the Chamber of Secrets and confront the evil monster, which shall soon be revealed. The epic confrontation is up next.
