In the jungles of Guyana, South America, a group of four scientists and researchers were embarking on an expedition to find the most rare Pokémon of all: Mew. Leading this expedition was a scientist named Dr. Fuji.
Dr. Fuji was a male human scientist and an expert on cloning research. He had brown wavy hair, brown eyes, and a goatee chin beard. As a scientist, he wore a white lab coat and glasses. Currently, he was dressed in an explorer's uniform, carrying a backpack.
Several Mankey leapt across the trees above the researchers as they walk along the path underneath them.
August 6th,
Today, my colleagues and I will reach the site where an ancient civilization may have created a shrine to Mew, the most powerful of Pokémon to have ever existed, now believed to be extinct.
As the scientists kept walking, they were unaware they were being watched by a curious Pokémon. It was Mew, who was hiding behind some foliage with its blue left-eye peeking through a hole in a large leaf, watching the humans as they passed by.
Giovanni is financing the expedition. When he learned of my work in the field of cloning, he agreed to fund my research, but only if I would try to create for him an enhanced living replica of Mew. I had to agree. All he wants is to control the most powerful Pokémon the world has ever known. I, of course, want something more. Much more...
A beautiful flock of Butterfree fly around the scientists as they continued along the jungle path with Mew following quietly behind them.
"The Mythical Pokémon... Mew." Researcher 1 says
"They say it's extinct, but there have been reports of recent sightings." Researcher 2 says
"Those reports haven't been confirmed." Dr. Fuji says
"Yes, sir." Researcher 2 says
"There hasn't even been a decent photo taken of it." Dr. Fuji says
"Unfortunately, true." Researcher 2 says
The group soon came upon some ancient ruins made from stone, which appeared to have been around for thousands, maybe millions of years. Could it be a shrine to Mew? Or was there more to it than appearances suggest? The researchers step inside the ruins and take a look around. Their eyes soon laid upon an ancient mural carved into the stone wall ahead of them. This mural had runic circles and symbols and Mew.
"It's Mew!" Excavator 1 exclaims
"A Pokémon with phenomenal powers that can cause massive floods, or plant life to bloom, bestowing some of these powers to humankind." Dr. Fuji says
"Is it good or evil?" Researcher 1 asks
"Is it doing this on a whim?" Researcher 2 asks
"No matter what, one thing is certain. It wields great power." Dr. Fuji says
Looking at the mural more closely, Dr. Fuji notices one other thing. Mew was curled around from it's back what appeared to be a large heart-shaped moon in the center of the mural. It was Kingdom Hearts, shimmering with it's holy light, shown by many small lines surrounding it. Also on the mural was the Kingdom Hearts sigil, engraved on the heart-shaped moon.
"Hmm. Intriguing." Dr. Fuji says
"What?" Researcher 1 asks
"This symbol next to Mew in the center of the mural... If I'm not mistaken... it's Kingdom Hearts!" Dr. Fuji exclaims
"Kingdom Hearts?" Researcher 1 says confused
Dr. Fuji steps closer to the wall and places his right-hand against the mural, feeling the Kingdom Hearts sigil with his hands as he strokes the smooth edges.
"Legends tell of an ancient realm that contains untold power and ancient wisdom. Kingdom Hearts was it's name. It was said to have been created around the same time the Universe was born. And it was also said that Kingdom Hearts was the birthplace of all living things in the Universe. Humans, Pokémon, even Mew." Dr. Fuji says
"Incredible..." Researcher 2 says amazed
"Yes. It certaintly is." Dr. Fuji says in agreement
Suddenly, a shadow of Mew appears on the wall, catching the scientists by surprise. They quickly turn around and look up at a hole in the ruins behind them where they thought the shadow originated from, but they saw nothing.
Later on, the group of researchers came together in a tent near the ruins as an excavator came in to show them an ancient fossil they had discovered.
"Dr. Fuji, this is the fossil we just excavated." Excavator 1 says
The excavator sets down a small square glass case on a table and removes the lid for the scientists the get a closer look. The fossil appeared to be a tiny fossilized eyelash with five strands on it, glowing with a brilliant blue light.
"Incredible... It's from the body of Mew." Dr. Fuji says
"That's our theory." Excavator 1 says
"Let's get this back to the lab immediately!" Dr. Fuji says
"If it truly is a Mew fossil..." Researcher 1 says
"Then, we may be able to recreate the most powerful of all Pokémon. And, perhaps, unlock the secrets of life itself." Dr. Fuji says
Unknown to the scientists, they were being watched by Mew, who peeked inside through one of the tent's small rectangular openings. The Mythical Pokémon soon flies off and heads for a gigantic mountain in the distance, which towered above the low lying clouds.
However, there was another being watching them. Hidden in the dark shadows of the jungle was an evil phantom of pure darkness, staring at the tent the researchers were currently inside with it's glowing red eyes. It was the Dark Echo. The shadowy wraith watched as the scientists leave the tent to bring their discoveries back to their laboratory elsewhere in the Kanto region, then fades away out of sight. It's fiery eyes lingered for a bit before they faded away as well.
Bubbles of air float up to the surface of blue crystal clear waters. Its sounds like an echo. A sense, like being in a dream. A feeling of calm, peace, tranquility.
Life. The great miracle, and the great mystery.
Ripples along the water's surface. A reflection of trees, blowing gently in the wind. A voice echoes in the air like a whisper.
"Who am I?"
Since the beginning, all creatures of the Universe, including Humans and Pokémon alike, have searched for its meaning.
"What am I?"
Underwater, beneath the surface, pebbles of rock, smooth to the touch, rest on the sandy floor, bathing in the light of the warm sun. Seaweed waves back and forth, following the flow of water. A creature swims through the water, flying like in the air. It was a Pokémon: Mew.
Many strange and wonderous legends evolved from the pursuit of life's mysteries.
Emerging to the surface, a breathing gasp of air, coming up to a world of beauty. Green trees stretching as wide and far as the eye could see. A forest of untamed wilderness, untouched by man. In the distance, a tall, gigantic mountain, towering high up above the trees, its white peak high above the clouds. Mew flies up into the sky and soars toward the mountain.
"Where am I?"
But none is stranger than this tale of the most powerful Pokémon of all.
"I am ready... to be..."
Elsewhere in the Pokémon World, a Pokémon floated inside a stasis tank of orange liquid in a laboratory. This was Mewtwo, the Genetic Pokémon. He was all wired up to heart monitors, brain monitors, X-rays, thermal readers, and all other medical and scientific equipment.
"Who... am I? Why am I here? No. I am here. That is all. I haven't emerged into this world." Mewtwo says
Mewtwo opens his eyes to look upon the world he was in, emerging from his long slumber. His vision was blurry at first, but it slowly started to clear and he could see Dr. Fuji and the dozens of scientists in the lab through the glass as they stared at him.
"Where... am I? This... This is not the same. Was everything before just a dream?" Mewtwo asks
The Clone Pokémon becomes sleepy and his eyes slowly close, his vision becoming blurry again.
"Why?" Mewtwo asks
Soon, Mewtwo closes his eyes and falls back into slumber. As they observed the sleeping Pokémon, a scientist calls Dr. Fuji over.
"Doctor! Look at this!" A female researcher says
"What?" Dr. Fuji asks
The lead scientist walks over and takes a look on a computer that the researcher was observing. The monitor showed a wavelength of Mewtwo's brain waves, and they were spiking off the charts.
"It's brain waves. They're surging." The female researcher says
"She's right! Let's run another scan!" Dr. Fuji says
"It's mind is racing!" The female researcher says
As he drifted in and out of consciousness, Mewtwo began to see visions in his mind. The first was a mountain, its reflection in the water of a gentle river.
"Those voices..." Mewtwo says
The next vision was a tree, its reflection also visible in the water.
"They're outside..." Mewtwo says
Then, a vision of Mew appears in his mind as the Mythical Pokémon swims past.
"Where I must be..." Mewtwo says
Mewtwo opens his eyes and they glow blue. Cracks began to appear on his tank. Using his psychic powers, Mewtwo bursts out of his tank, causing glass and the orange liquid to fall and splash all over the floor, much to the surprise of Dr. Fuji and the scientists as they turn and gasp. The humans stepped closer as they gazed curiously at Mewtwo.
"It's finally awakened! Mewtwo!" Researcher 1 says
The Clone Pokémon opens it's eyes, acknowledging it's name.
"Mewtwo." Mewtwo says
Dr. Fuji and the researcher on his left shared amazed glances with each other. Mewtwo was able to speak telepathically through the mind. To them, it was an amazing discovery.
"Telepathy." Researcher 1 says
The two scientists turn back to Mewtwo and Dr. Fuji spoke to his creation.
"Mewtwo. That is your name. For years we've struggled to clone a Pokémon to prove our theories. But you are the first specimen to survive. We have given life to you, using the rarest of Pokémon as a basis." Dr. Fuji says
Mewtwo looks over at the mural of Mew and Kingdom Hearts on his left, displayed and preserved in a large square picture frame in the lab. He found the mural to be very interesting, especially the heart-shaped moon. But why? Why was it so interesting?
"That is Mew, the rarest of all Pokémon. Through it's DNA, we created you, Mewtwo." Dr. Fuji says
"Mew... Would that be my parent? My father? My mother? Or am I only a copy? Nothing but Mew's shadow?" Mewtwo asks
"Maybe either or maybe neither. But one thing is certain: You're existence is based on Mew, and you were created to be even stronger, improved through the power of human ingenuity. We used the most advanced techniques to develop your awesome psychic powers." Dr. Fuji says
"Who created me? Neither father nor mother? Then nature?" Mewtwo asks
"In this world, only two things can create life: Nature and human science." Dr. Fuji says
"So I am simply the end result of your experiment. But what becomes of me now that your experiment is over?" Mewtwo says
"Oh, our experiment isn't over yet. It's just beginning. Now, the serious testing begins." Dr. Fuji says
Mewtwo stared at the scientist with an emotionless expression. These scientists didn't care about him at all. They only cared about their research. How could they think so little of him?
"These humans. They care nothing for me." Mewtwo says to himself
The scientists began to celebrate and congratulate each other.
"It's a triumph of science!" The female researcher exclaims happily
"It's proof our theories were right!" Researcher 1 says
"We can continue our research!" Another female researcher exclaims happily
"We should start an even better version!" Researcher 2 says
Mewtwo looked around at the scientists as they celebrate their successes to science, shaking hands and making plans for the next part of their research. Then, he glances down at his hands, which only had three fingers with ball-shaped fingertips, and close them together. In that moment, a vision of Mew flying toward the large mountain appears in his mind.
"Is that my purpose? Am I just an experiment? A laboratory specimen?" Mewtwo asks
Rage began to build up in Mewtwo as he narrowed his eyes and glances back up at the scientists. He would not leave his fate to these ignorant humans. Not if it costs him his freedom.
"This cannot be my destiny!" Mewtwo says
A dark blue aura envelopes Mewtwo and his eyes glowed with the same color as he tapped into his incredible powers. The lights began to flicker on and off and cracks started to appear on the the small tanks throughout the lab. Eventually, those tanks shattered from the intense pressure and the orange liquid inside spills out onto the floor. Dr. Fuji and the scientists turned back towards Mewtwo and their joy instantly turned to horror as he narrowed his glowing eyes. Mewtwo crosses his arms, then thrusts them outward, releasing a powerful shockwave that blasted the scientists away. Two robotic arms grabbed Mewtwo by his arms from above, catching him by surprise.
"Huh?" Mewtwo says
Then, magenta rings, generated from the top of Mewtwo's tank flowed down to contain the angry Pokémon, and electricity surged inside to subdue him. Mewtwo groaned in pain as the electricity overwhelmed him. However, this angered him even more. Growling in rage, the Clone Pokémon thrusts his arms out, unleashing a shockwave that obliterated the ring barrier and the electricity, and destroyed the security systems designed to control him.
Mewtwo unleashes his wrath upon the lab using his psychic powers to destroy it left and right while the scientists screamed and fled. Streaks of purple and blue light streamed throughout the lab, creating a trail of explosions. Targeting a large generator above him, Mewtwo stretches his right-hand out and grabs hold of it using Psychic, ripping it out of the ceiling. Grunting and gripping his hand into a fist, he crushes the machinery into a mangled ball of metal. Destruction wrecked across the lab. Computers overloaded, tanks, valves, and gauges exploded, and electrical systems sparked out of control with arcs of electricity flying everywhere.
Soon, the lab was up in flames and was littered with wreckage. All of the scientists and researchers were killed, except for one: Dr. Fuji. He was down on the floor against the wall, panting for breath. Then, he looks up and saw Mewtwo as he blows the flames away with a swipe of his hands. The Clone Pokémon stared at his creator and he stared back at him with an stunned expression.
"We've dreamed of creating the world's strongest Pokémon..." Dr. Fuji says
Mewtwo starts to glow with a dark blue aura as Dr. Fuji spoke his final words.
"...and we've succeeded." Dr. Fuji says
And with that, Dr. Fuji met his fate as Mewtwo emits a bright blue light and destroys the entire lab in a massive explosion, leaving a black mushroom-shaped cloud in the air.
The lab was built on an island out in the middle of the ocean between Cinnabar Island and the Orange Archipelago. The column of smoke could be seen for miles around. A black VTOL jet with a red 'R' on the side flies onto the scene. Inside was a man with his pet Pokémon, Persian by his side. This was Giovanni, Leader of Team Rocket.
Giovanni was a middle-aged man with a sinister, ambitious personality. His goal: Obtain rare and powerful Pokémon and conquer the world. He had short brown hair and brown eyes. As a criminal mastermind, Giovanni wore a black formal suit with a white long sleeve button shirt with a red tie at the collar and black dress shoes.
It was he who ordered Dr. Fuji and the scientists to create Mewtwo, funding their research project, and he was here to collect his prized Pokémon.
Down below, Mewtwo stood amidst the flaming ruins of the lab, gazing around at the destruction he had wrought, amazed by his psychic powers.
"Behold my powers. I am the strongest Pokémon in the world." Mewtwo says
Mewtwo gazes down at the preserved mural of Mew and Kingdom Hearts, which had dozens of cracks in its glass. Somehow, it had survived the explosion.
"Stronger even than Mew." Mewtwo says
Giovanni's VTOL aircraft descends down on the island and its rotors fans away the black smoke as the aircraft deploys it's landing gear, touching down among the burning debris. Mewtwo hears the engines of the VTOL powering down and turns around to see Giovanni approaching him. The human soon stops only a couple feet away from the Clone Pokémon and gazes upon him with a sinister smile on his face.
"It's true that you may be the world's most powerful Pokémon, but the world has one other powerful life-form." Giovanni says
"Humans." Mewtwo says with a hint of anger in his voice
"Those fools thought you were a science experiment. But I, I see you as a valuable partner." Giovanni says
"Partner?" Mewtwo asks
Giovanni nods his head.
"With your psychic powers and my resources, together we can control the world." Giovanni says
"I do not need your help for that, human." Mewtwo says
"A wildfire destroys everything in its path. It will be the same as your powers unless you learn to control them. I can help you do that." Giovanni says
"How?" Mewtwo asks
"Trust me and I'll show you a way to focus your powers that will make you invincible." Giovanni says
"Show me." Mewtwo says
Giovanni smiles and chuckles in a sinister tone.
Unknown to Mewtwo and Giovanni, they were being watched by the Dark Echo, who observed them with it's glowing red eyes, hidden within the flames and smoke. Soon, it disappears in the blink of an eye as the fires flicker and burn.
Bringing his prized Pokémon back to his headquarters near Pallet Town, Giovanni brought Mewtwo into a tech room that had various computer consoles. Inside, the Clone Pokémon was outfitted into a robotic suit of armor as mechanical arms placed them on his arms, legs, tail, and body with the helmet being the finishing touch. Also, on Mewtwo's body were two large curved pieces of red steel over his shoulders, and on his back were six smaller curved armor pieces to make him look more intimidating.
"You say this armor protects my body, yet it suppresses my powers." Mewtwo says
"Your powers are not being suppressed, they're being focused. Learn to use them to accomplish your purpose." Giovanni says
"After all of this, what do you expect of me?" Mewtwo asks
"It's simple. You need only do what everyone in this world does." Giovanni says
"And what is that?" Mewtwo asks
"Destruction, war, and conquest." Giovanni says
Later on, Mewtwo stood on a balcony with Giovanni in a vast hall that had an army of Team Rocket members standing at attention like an army ready to go to war. Behind the human and Clone Pokémon was a tall black flag with a red 'R' on it, which was the emblem of Team Rocket. Four smaller flags hung down over the balcony.
"The strong will stand victorious." Giovanni says
Over the next few weeks, Mewtwo's powers were put to the test as he performs tasks for Team Rocket, such as capturing rare Pokémon. The Clone Pokémon stands in a canyon as a herd of wild Tauros headed straight for him while Giovanni observes from his aircraft. Stretching his hands out and using Psychic, Mewtwo lifts the Tauros up into the air while they bellowed in panic and flailed around helplessly. They were brought up to the top of the canyon's edge where several Team Rocket members captured them with their Pokéballs. Once all the Tauros were captured, Mewtwo gazes at the environment around him, taking in the new sights.
"Where am I?" Mewtwo asks
When it came to his duties as a Gym Leader, Giovanni pitted Mewtwo against challengers at the Viridian Gym, using his psychic powers to win in Pokémon battles.
The first was a young teenage boy, a Trainer with his Onix. The Rock Snake Pokémon growled as it was ready for the battle, or so it seemed. With a mighty roar, Onix made the first move as it slithers across the battlefield and attacking with a powerful Double-edge, charging into the Clone Pokémon with all it's strength. Mewtwo blocks the attack with Counter, and hurls Onix back over to it's side of the battlefield. The move was super effective since Counter was a Fighting-type move and Onix was a Rock/Ground-type Pokémon. Onix smashes into the walls of the Gym and collapses onto the ground defeated. The battle was over in an instant.
The next match was one against Gary Oak, a Pokémon Trainer, Rival of Ash Ketchum, and grandson of Prof. Oak. For his battle, he used two of his Pokémon to attack Mewtwo: Arcanine and Nidoking. First, Arcanine uses it's Flamethrower, shooting a powerful stream of fire at Mewtwo, but he blocks the attack with Barrier. After that, both Arcanine and Nidoking charged at the Clone Pokémon, running across the battlefield to attack together. But before they could reach him, Mewtwo stretches both hands out and uses Psychic, ensnaring the two Pokémon and lifting them up into the air while they struggled and flailed about.
As he kept Arcanine and Nidoking in his telekinetic grip, Mewtwo couldn't help but ponder on his purpose. Why was he doing this? Capturing other Pokémon? Fighting for a human? He couldn't help but feel he was being used.
"Why am I here? For what reason do I fight?" Mewtwo asks
Once his tasks were finished for the day, Mewtwo put back in his station in Team Rocket's Headquarters and cables plugged themselves into his armor. He stood like a robot waiting to be activated, but he was not at rest. Questions lingered in his mind, plaguing his thoughts.
"Now I fully perceive my powers, but what is my purpose? For what reason do I exist?" Mewtwo asks
The Clone Pokémon soon heard footsteps as Giovanni walked into the room, standing at a balcony above him with his pet Persian on his right.
"To serve your master. You are a Pokémon, a creature used for human purposes. You were created to fight for me. That is your purpose." Giovanni says
Finally, the truth was out. He was being used. Twisted to serve Giovanni like a tool, a weapon. Mewtwo felt betrayed and disgusted.
"That cannot be. You said we were partners! We stood as equals!" Mewtwo says
"You were created by humans to obey humans. You could never be our equal. What other value could you have?" Giovanni says
"Value?! Humans may have created me, but they will never enslave me! This cannot be my destiny!" Mewtwo says
Psychic energy starts to surround Mewtwo as he fell into another fit of rage. The cables in his armor were ejected and destroyed.
"You dare to defy me?!" Giovanni yells
The criminal mastermind holds up a switch in his left-hand and pushes a red button with his thumb. The armor on Mewtwo's hands and legs magnetically came together as binds, and the curved armor pieces closed in on Mewtwo, restricting his movements and restraining him to keep him from escaping. A red aura surrounds the Clone Pokémon to suppress his powers, but that wouldn't stop him. Nothing will contain him. The aura turns blue as Mewtwo rises up into the air to Giovanni's level, much to his shock. Soon, he breaks free of his restraints and stares down the evil human with an angry expression, if the helmet wasn't hiding his face.
"I was not born a Pokémon, I was created. And as an artificial Pokémon, I am not a Pokémon either! My creators have used and betrayed me! So now, I stand alone!" Mewtwo says
The entire building starts to rumble and shake. Giovanni and his Persian quickly make a run for the exit to escape from Mewtwo's wrath as he rose higher in the air. Crossing his arms and grunting in concentration, he unleashes his incredible powers, destroying Team Rocket's Headquarters in a gigantic column of blue psychic energy. Mewtwo flies out of the smoke cloud from the explosion, taking off at fast speed and making his escape. His armor falls apart as he flies through the air, leaving him only with his helmet.
After escaping Giovanni and Team Rocket, Mewtwo returns to the island where he was created. The only place that had any significance to him. Its remains still littered the ground. Mewtwo touches down on the ground near the preserved mural of Mew and Kingdom Hearts and removes his helmet, tossing it to the ground.
"Who am I? What is my true reason for being?" Mewtwo asks
The Clone Pokémon gazes out at the ocean and he saw a vision of the large mountain and the trees that surrounded it. The vision slowly fades away and he looks down at his hands.
"Who asked for me to be created? Who wanted me to be created? I despise everything connected to my creation!" Mewtwo says gripping his hands tightly into fists
As he stood there staring at the ground in anger, a deep, dark, demonic voice spoke to Mewtwo as it echoed around him.
"If It Is PuRpOsE yOu SeEk..." A dark, demonic voice says
Mewtwo's head snaps up as he heard the voice and he looks around in surprise.
"Huh?" Mewtwo says
Suddenly, the blue sky around the island blackens and turns dark. The Clone Pokémon soon saw streams of darkness flowing past him around. Turning around, he saw a large mass of darkness forming behind him. Slowly, the black mass takes shape in the form of a humanoid being. With a black and red flash of darkness, the Dark Echo appears before Mewtwo, hovering only a few feet away, gazing upon him with it's glowing red eyes and it's spectral cloak flowing in the air. It's ghostly body emitting it's black-red aura of darkness.
"...ThEn I cAn GiVe It To YoU." The Dark Echo says
Mewtwo stared at the shadowy wraith and he wasn't sure what to make of it. He couldn't even sense the Dark Echo's power. Something was off. Immediately, he distrusted the evil specter and took a step back. His hands and eyes slowly started to glow with their blue aura, expecting a fight, but the Dark Echo made no move and showed not a hint of fear.
"Who are you? What are you? Are you a Pokémon? Or a human?" Mewtwo asks
"NeItHeR. I aM sO mUcH mOrE. I aM eVeRyThInG... AnD I aM nOtHiNg. DeMoN tO sOmE, aNgEl To OtHeRs. FrOm ThE bLaCk VoId Is WhErE aLl ThInGs ArE bOrN, eVeN yOu, MeWtWo." The Dark Echo says
Mewtwo's expression quickly changed to surprise as he heard the mysterious being mention his name. The glow in his eyes and the aura enveloping his hands immediately went away.
"How do you know my name?" Mewtwo asks
"I kNoW mAnY tHiNgS oF tHe UnIvErSe. It'S hIsToRy, It'S cOuNtLeSs WoRlDs, AlL cReAtUrEs WhO dWeLl WiThIn It'S bOrDeRs AnD bEyOnD. I hAvE wAtChEd YoU fRoM tHe ShAdOwS, aNd I kNoW tHe PaIn ThAt GrIeVeS yOuR hEaRt. A cReAtUrE dEnIeD iT's FrEeDoM tO cHoOsE iT's PaTh. MaDe To Be A wEaPoN, a SeRvAnT oF mAn. SuFfErInG bEtRaYaL uPoN bEtRaYaL." The Dark Echo says
Turning away from Mewtwo, the Dark Echo gazes out at the ocean, sharing it's similar views on humans.
"LeT mE tElL yOu Of ThE tRuE nAtUrE oF hUmAnItY. LiKe YoU, I, tOo, fInD gReAt DiSplEaSuRe AmOnGsT mAnKiNd. BeCaUsE oF tHe HuMaNs, ThEiR wOrLd SuFfErS iMbAlAnCe, CoRrUpTiOn, ChAoS, DiSoRdEr. HuMaNiTy Is An InFeCtIoUs DiSeAsE, a DeAdLy ViRuS, oNe ThAt MuSt Be ExPuNgEd." The Dark Echo says
The shadowy wraith stretches forth it's right-hand and waves it to the right, projecting a black mass of darkness infront of it and Mewtwo. From the darkness came an image, a vision projected through the Dark Echo's power. The Clone Pokémon found himself staring at the vision as he was shown the evils of Humanity.
The first vision Mewtwo saw was toxic waste factories of cities releasing black smog from their chimneys into the air, polluting the air around it, replacing the blue sky with a sickly green and the white clouds a dark grey color. Then, the vision changed showing large sewage pipes dumping sludge and waste into lakes that were home to water-type Pokémon.
"FoR yEaRs, ThEy HaVe PoIsOnEd ThEiR pLaNeT's EnViRoNmEnT..." The Dark Echo says
Next, came a vision of large bulldozers tearing down trees as they charged through a forest, causing Pidgey, Rattata, Nidoran, both male and female, and dozens other Pokémon to flee and cry in terror, leaving nothing but destroyed land in their wake.
"...DEsTrOyEd ThE hOmEs Of InNoCeNt PoKéMoN..." The Dark Echo says
A third vision showed six criminal thugs, all wearing black balaclava masks and armed with firearms, rifles and handguns as they rob a jewelry store. Three of them held their guns at the people inside as hostages while the other three thugs went to work smashing the glass cases containing diamond jewelry, grabbing them, and putting them in their bags.

Then, a fourth and final vision showed an image that made Mewtwo's eyes widen in shock. It revealed a Cubone, an Eevee, a Charmander, a Squirtle, a Bulbasaur, a Sandshrew, a Vulpix, and several other Pokémon locked in cages in a dark room with Charmander's burning tail being the only available light source. Each of the poor Pokémon looked sad and alone. The vision changed as it showed a bunch of Tauros hauling a cart of large, heavy rocks from a mine as some human miners dug it out.
"...WoRsT oF aLl, tHeY eNsLaVe PoKéMoN tO dO tHeIr BiDdInG, sUcH aS tHeY hAvE tRiEd FoR yOu. SoMe PoKéMoN HaVe EvEn FaLlEn To ThE hUmAnS' cOrRuPtIoN, aNd CoNsEnTeD tO tHeIr FaTe. ThEy DiSgRaCe ThEmSeLvEs To SeRvItUdE, lIvInG aMoNgSt HuMaNs As PeTs, SlAvEs, CoMpAnIoNs. MoSt WoUlD eVeN dIe FoR tHeIr PaThEtIc RaCe. ThErE iS nO gReAtEr DiShOnOr. HoW cAn SuCh CrEaTuReS bE cOnTeNt WiTh ThEiR lIvEs?" The Dark Echo says
The vision fades away and the evil phantom turns to Mewtwo and holds it's right-hand up, projecting a small transparent image of Earth as it hovers over it's open palm, slowly rotating counterclockwise.
"ThE pLaNeT's DeClInE hAs BeCoMe IrReVeRsIbLe, AlL iN fAuLt Of MaNkInD's IgNoRaNcE. YoU, MeWtWo, a PoKéMoN, hAvE wItNeSsEd HuMaNiTy'S eViL fOr YoUrSeLf. ThEiR aRrOgAnCe... ThEiR tHiRsT fOr PoWeR... ThEiR mAlCoNtEnT fOr LiFe... ThEiR vErY eXiStEnCe Is A tHrEaT to NaTuRe. ThE oNlY tHiNgS tHe HuMaNs EvEr VaLuE iS pOwEr, gReEd, AnD cOnTrOl. SuCh Is ThE dArKeR sIdE oF tHe HeArT. ThEy DeSeRvE nO sUcH sYmPaThY. HuMaNiTy HaS sEt ThEmSeLvEs On ThE pAtH tO tHeIr OwN dEmIsE, cArInG nOt FoR tHe CoNsEqUeNcEs Of ThEiR aCtIoNs. ThEy MuSt Be MaDe To SeE jUsTiCe FoR tHeIr CrImEs AgAiNsT nAtUrE. We CaN sEe To ThAt." The Dark Echo says
The Earth fades away from the Dark Echo's skeletal palm and the shadowy wraith lowers it's hand, gazing at Mewtwo.
"HuMaNiTy DeNiEd YoU yOuR pUrPoSe In LiFe. It Is OnLy FiTtInG tHaT yOu Do ThE sAmE tO tHeM. WiTh YoUr PoWeR, yOu HaVe A cHaNcE fOr ReVeNgE. WiLl YoU lEt HuMaNiTy Go UnPuNiShEd? Or WiLl YoU oVeRsEe OrDeR aNd JuStIcE?" The Dark Echo says
Mewtwo looks down as he pondered over what he had just been shown. He had already been betrayed twice by the humans, and what he saw now was proof of how evil they were. The world he saw in his visions, the beautiful world he saw in his dreams, they were in danger of being destroyed by the humans. The Dark Echo was right. Humanity had to pay for what they were doing to this world. And the disgraceful Pokémon that served them can share in their fate. If they wish to die for them, so be it.
"Yes... You are right. Humanity is evil! I will do it!" Mewtwo says
Mewtwo and the Dark Echo gaze out to the wide, open ocean, and the world beyond it.
"I will make the humans pay for what they have done to this planet, and purge all who oppose us! Human and Pokémon alike. The world will heed our warning. Humanity may have created me, but now I shall strike back... against you!" Mewtwo says
And so, Mewtwo began his plot for revenge against humanity with the Dark Echo as his guide. But what he did not know was that he was being used by an much more greater evil entity. One with an even more sinister agenda. And when the time was right, the souls of both humans and Pokémon, including Mewtwo, will fall to darkness.
Author's Note: Here it is! The next world is Pokémon! The Dark Echo is back, and unfortunately for Mewtwo, he is now a pawn in his game. Devon is in for double trouble now. Can he save Mewtwo and the Pokémon World from the Dark Echo's deadly grip, or will the darkness consume both humans and Pokémon? For this, I'm combining elements from both Pokemon: the First Movie, and Mewtwo Strikes Back: Evolution. Let me know what you guys think. No flames please.
