Greetings Soleira
Relaxed, I sat by the river and let my legs dangle in the cool water. It was a beautiful day. The sky was almost cloudless, and the sun was beaming down on Konoha with pleasant warmth. I enjoyed the chirping of the birds and the gentle breeze that played with my short hair. Whenever I went to the river, I enjoyed being here. This environment was just so beautifully peaceful. You could hear nothing but nature and...
„HAPPY BIRTHDAY."
A loud voice rang out from behind my back, startling me so much that I lost my balance in surprise and fell into the river with a loud splash.
Panic overcame me and I frantically kicked my arms and legs to keep from going under. It wasn't deep, but I was very afraid of the fast water. Even though I was supposed to be able to do it. This was one of my greatest weaknesses. I could not swim. Father had never taught me because he didn't feel it was important. Panic crept up inside me and clung to my heart like an icy claw.
Then a strong hand grabbed my arm and pulled me out of the flood waters. „Hey Tora. Oh man, I'm so sorry about that, believe it. I had no idea..." Worried, Naruto looked at me as I crawled ashore in front of him. Shakily, I sat up and shook my head. „Well, you couldn't know. I mean, really, anyone my age can swim. But my father ... he never taught me. You know we didn't maintain the best relationship," I said huskily. The blond nodded. „Yes, it's still shocking though. If you like, I can teach you," he said. „You'd do that for me?" „Of course. I'll help you where I can. And when I'm Hokage one day, I'll also make sure you get your place in the village and your father pays for what he did. Belive it." Cheering up, he beamed at me and curled a smile at me.
„Thank you, Naruto," I said.
„Now for the reason I'm here in the first place. We have your birthday to celebrate, after all," he grinned. Oh, that's right. My birthday. Thirteen years I become today. So, three years have passed since I ran away from home and eight weeks since I met Naruto. Yes, time passes faster than some could see. It's a pity actually. Some moments I would have liked to hold on to and never let pass again. But maybe you had to let them pass, so that you could experience something even more beautiful. And I could really say that I had many great moments together with Naruto and would still have. I was sure of that.
„Hey Tora. Are you drifting off again? I didn't just want to wish you a happy birthday. After all, what would a birthday be without a present?" Puzzled, I looked at him. A present? For me? Was that a joke? Naruto seemed to enjoy my stupid face because he grinned broadly and reached behind him. Captivated my eyes followed his movement, I wanted to absorb every second and never forget. My first gift in years.
„Close your eyes," he demanded, and I closed them, even if with reluctance. There was a soft rustling sound, then silence and I felt him set something down in front of me. „There, now you can." Carefully, I opened my eyelids and saw...
A cake. A somewhat wonky, but still complete chocolate cake. I couldn't help it, my jaw dropped. Had he made it himself? My counterpart grinned widely. „Tadaaa. My first homemade chocolate cake. Really proud of it. But Sensei Iruka will have a fit when he sees the school kitchen." Slightly embarrassed, he scratched his head. I didn't care about the school kitchen. Faster than the blond could look, I was around his neck. "
„Thank you.'' That's the nicest gift you could have given me. I'm so happy."
Laughing, we enjoyed the, admittedly, really good chocolate cake. I enjoyed the feeling of letting the sweet chocolate melt on my tongue. Naruto had no idea what he had given me for a huge gift. In my eyes there were two. Once the cake and on the other hand, the fact that he had baked it himself. When we were finished, I could not help it and fell a second time around the neck of the blond. Yes, the day would still be wonderful.
In the afternoon we sneaked into Konohagakure. By now, I had almost completely shaken off my fear of moving visibly through the alleys. But still, a spark remained, deep inside me. Not willing to let me have my peace. But most of the time I was in the village, I managed to suppress those doubts. When push came to shove, Naruto would let me go and lead the chasers in another direction. Admittedly, I was really good at running away. I had to be. But invisible. With a visible body, things got a lot more complicated, but it still wasn't impossible.
Together with Naruto I leaned against a house wall and watched the hustle and bustle. The shadow, which sat nearby, hidden behind a fireplace, I did not notice.
Silently he sat there, watching every single movement of the girl who was in the company of young Naruto. Her posture looked relaxed. She seemed to feel confident. Nonchalantly, her arms hung down, her delicate body. But he knew very well that this impression was deceiving. The young thing was tough, had experienced and gone through a lot. That had become clear to him after the many weeks of watching and he began to understand her feelings. At the beginning he hadn't really been enthusiastic about taking care of a child, but things were going to get pretty interesting. He was sure of that.
The sun was already disappearing behind the rooftops when I sat up. It had been nice to watch the hustle and bustle and be among people again. The movement woke up Naruto, who had fallen asleep on my shoulder over time. What a sleepyhead. I shook my head with a grin. Now it was really time for me to go.
„Naruto. I've got to get going. The sun is already low." The Uzumaki nodded slowly and looked at me with a lazy expression on his face. „I think I'm going to bed," he mumbled. „I think so too," I laughed and gave him a quick hug before raising my hand and walking away.
With a smile on my lips, I strolled through the alleys of the village. Already I could see the gate in front of me. But all at once, I could feel a presence behind me. Slowly, my hand slid to my belt pouch and grabbed the kunai. A breath of air, that's all I needed to feel to whirl around in a flash and cross blades with my attacker. But the figure I saw before me made my heart stop. Dark blue eyes looked triumphantly at me. A fire burned in them, so cold and cruel that it just ran down my spine. Grimly, I held on against his immense strength.
„Hello little murderess." I swallowed. „Father."
