On New Island, Mewtwo and the Dark Echo moved onto the next stage of their plan. The invites to their island had been sent out. Now, it was time for a test to sort out the more worthy Pokémon Trainers.

"ThE sIgNs HaVe BeEn SeNt. NoW cOmEs ThE tEsT oF sUrViVaL. ThE vIcToRs: ThOsE wHo PrOvE wOrThY oF tHe JoUrNeY." The Dark Echo says

Mewtwo raises his right-hand and it glows with a purple aura. He then waves it around in a circular motion.

The Dark Echo teleports outside and hovers over the palace atop the tallest spire. Glancing up, the wraith-like being could see dark grey clouds forming above the island. Using the darkness, the Dark Echo adds it's evil power to the ritual, spreading it's bony hands out as they glowed with a black-red aura. The blue sky darkens and the bright yellow sun disappears within the clouds.

Elsewhere, in the jungles of Guyana, South America, Mew was resting peacefully inside a large bubble when it sensed a massive disturbance in the Pokémon World.

"Mew." Mew says as it opened its eyes

Floating up to the surface of a lake, Mew bursts out of it's bubble and takes off into the sky to investigate the strange activity.

Back on New Island, both Mewtwo and the Dark Echo continued building up their storm as it slowly grew in strength, becoming more and more violent with each passing second. Mewtwo sat on his throne, still waving his hand around as he did his part.

Outside, darkness swirls intensely around the Dark Echo, growing larger in strength until it was the size of the whole island. The sky was now black as night with dark grey clouds blanketing the entire sky, and the waves grew rougher and higher. Dark blue electricity sparks and crackles in evil phantom's hands. Raising it's hands to the dark sky, the Dark Echo unleashes an immense, massive wave of lightning into the sky, which expanded far out across the sea in all directions, adding on to the already violent storm, making it a dozen times more dangerous.

The Dark Echo lowers its hands and gazes out at the storm as numerous lightning strikes flash across the sea with the deafening sounds of crashing thunder. The task was now complete. All that left to do was wait until the time was right.

"LeT iT bEgIn." The Dark Echo says in a dark, demonic voice with it's glowing red eyes

Devon, Ash, Pikachu, Misty, and Brock arrive at Old Shore Warf just as the storm rolls in. Running as fast as they could, they head towards the Pokémon Center just ahead of them, covering their heads as they move to escape the rain.

Inside the Pokémon Center, dozens of trainers and their Pokémon sat around in the lobby, each having gained the same invitation as our heroes. They were all waiting to board the ferry to New Island, but the storm outside proved to be quite the obstacle, especially since New Island was out across the sea. Both humans and Pokémon were getting restless. On one side of the lobby, a Ratticate and a Kingler got up in each other's faces, growling and hissing at each other.

"Ra! Ra! Ratticate!" Ratticate growls

Kingler hisses at Ratticate, snapping it's large crab claws menacingly. Both of their Trainers stood nearby, trying to get their Pokémon under control.

"Chill out, Ratticate! Calm down, please!" Trainer 1 says

"Kingler, cut it out! Save your energy, will you?!" Trainer 2 says

There were many kinds of Pokémon in the lobby with their Trainers. A Scyther stood calmly with it's Trainer over here. An Eevee wagged it's tail happily infront of it's Trainer over there. A Nidorino ate it's Pokémon food as it's Trainer hand feeds it from a plastic cup. A Spearow stood perched on it's Trainer's left-arm. An Ekans hisses in content as it's Trainer pets it's head.

"Officer Jenny, please report to the Ferry entrance. Officer Jenny, to the Ferry entrance please." The Pokémon Center's PDA system announces

The Keyblade Wielder and the Pokémon Trio soon enter the Pokémon Center through its automatic doors, and they dry themselves off from the rain. Devon shook off his jacket and his pants, Ash shook his arms, Pikachu shook his small body, Misty took out some napkins from the right-pocket of her shorts and uses it to dry off Togepi's head, and Brock wiped his head dry using his right-arm.

"The weather was so nice out before! Togepi's totally soaked!" Misty groans

"I can't believe how fast the storm came up!" Brock says

"Well, that's what happens when you're close to the sea. Take it from me. I speak from experience." Devon says

As he said this, Devon looked back at all times that he had been in stormy weather in his life. There were some bad storms that he had dealt with back on Destiny Islands when he was living with his Aunt Kathey and Uncle Richard, even when he was with his friends, Sora, Riku, and Kairi, but those were just normal weather. Then, he remembered the dark storm that consumed Destiny Islands when it fell to the darkness, and the one that nearly destroyed the Pokémon World. Those storms were usually the work of evil beings like Lord Thanatos, the Dark Keyblade Master. Could he be here? If he was, could he be responsible for this storm? Or could it be something else? Something far worse?

Devon's mind was soon taken off these questions when he and his friends glanced over to the left, seeing a large crowd of Pokémon Trainers gathering one side of the lobby. Three Trainers stood at the front of the crowd. Their names were Corey, Neesha, and Fergus.

Corey was a confident young man who was proud of the strengths of his Pokémon, but he was also impulsive, always trying to take charge of the situation.

He had black, spiky hair, tan skin, and green eyes.

Corey wore an orange jacket which had a grey shield-shaped patch on his right-side, and a red, blue, yellow sword emblem patch on his left. On his lower body, he wore orange pants, black-yellow sneakers, and carried a green waist bag strapped behind his lower back.

Neesha was a calm, approachable young woman who carried herself confidently, though she doesn't show off. She also had a streak of determination just as well as any Pokémon Trainer.

She had auburn hair, fair skin, and blue eyes.

Neesha wore a sleeveless top which was pale blue at the front and violet on the sides, a Pokéball charm necklace, khaki pants, white-orange slip-on shoes, and carried a orange-yellow backpack.

Fergus was a young man who presented himself as a tough Pokémon Trainer. Like Corey, he, too, took pride in his Pokémon and he deeply cared for them.

He had brown hair, tan skin, and dark brown eyes.

Fergus wore a light blue tank top and dog tags around his neck, brown fingerless gloves, red-yellow strap sneakers, and carried a dark blue backpack.

They, like many of the other Trainers in the Pokémon Center, had recieved their own invitation from the world's greatest Pokémon Trainers. But unfortunately, their trip to New Island hit a snag as Officer Jenny stood infront of the crowd, blocking the ferry entrance.

"What?! Cancelled?! The ferry's grounded?" Corey says

"So we can't go to New Island?" Trainer 3 asks

"But I've got to go! I've got an invitation!" Neesha says

"Me too!" Trainer 4 says

"Yeah! So do I! What's the big deal? It's just rain." Trainer 5 says

"It's more than just rain! We have the harbor manager right here, and she says this could be the worst storm ever!" Jenny says

Officer Jenny turns to the harbor manager on her right as she takes a step forward. Her name: Miranda.

Miranda was a spiritual woman who was well-versed in ancient legends, and believed firmly in destiny.

She had long blue hair, a fair skin complexion, and blue eyes.

Miranda wore a blue dress, silver fish-hook earrings, and blue heel shoes.

"Listen to me. If you want to hear the will of the sea, listen to the harbor Wingull. But there's no need. Listen to these waves. I have never seen such a hurricane like this in my life." Miranda says

"Is it really that bad?" Jenny asks

"I grew up near this harbor, and I've never experienced a storm like this. The prophets have predicted the return of the Winds of Water. For years I have prayed that mankind would never witness that deadly storm ever again." Miranda says

"Isn't that just a legend?" Jenny asks

"There are ancient writings that tell of the storm wiping out all of humanity, save but a few Pokémon, and their sorrow, the waters of their tears, somehow restored the lives lost in the storm." Miranda says

Devon, Ash, Pikachu, Misty, and Brock make their way to the front of the crowd as Miranda speaks.

"But there are no Pokémon tears today. Just waters which no one can survive. Not only that, the storm is directly over New Island, far out to sea. Which is why I cannot, in good conscience, allow any of you to wander into such danger." Miranda says

"You heard her. The ferry to New Island is cancelled. No exceptions." Jenny says

Fergus steps forward, determined to go to New Island by his own way of travel.

"Well, I'm going to New Island anyway! All my Pokémon are water-types, and they're great swimmers! We'll just swim over to that palace, no problem!" Fergus says

"I warn you! The waves will be savage! You will never make it!" Miranda warns

"And besides, if you tried that stunt and your Pokémon got hurt, you'd be out of luck because we had to close down the Pokémon Center!" Jenny says

Devon and Ash move past Corey and Neesha as Officer Jenny said this.

"The Pokémon Center's closed? How come?" Ash asks

"Because the nurse in charge of the center disappeared a week ago." Jenny says looking at Ash

"Any idea why a Pokémon Nurse would suddenly go missing? Did she get kidnapped or something? Its not like she could've just wandered off." Devon asks

"No. She just vanished without a trace." Jenny says looking at Devon

The police officer glances back at the crowd, asking everyone, both humans and Pokémon to keep a lookout.

"And if anyone sees her, please contact me right away." Jenny says

Officer Jenny gestures her left-hand to a missing-person poster on her left, which had a head shot photo of Nurse Joy on it.

"There's a picture of her on the missing-person poster right over there on the wall." Jenny says

Brock walks up to the poster of Nurse Joy, looking dreamy eyed.

"Wow. She's cute." Brock says

As he stared at the picture of the Pokémon Nurse, Brock couldn't help but feel as though he had seen her face before.

"Huh. She sure looks familiar. Haven't I seen her somewhere before?" Brock says

Despite Officer Jenny and Miranda's warnings, some Pokémon Trainers, including Corey, Neesha, and Fergus, were determined to travel to New Island. This was their only chance to challenge the world's greatest Pokémon Masters, and they weren't going to let a vicious storm stop them.

Corey flies off from the port on the back of his Pidgeot, taking to the sky, dodging lightning bolts as they strike dangerously close. Fergus takes out one of his Pokéballs and throws it into the air, sending out his Pokémon, Gyarados. The large sea dragon dives into the water, and reemerges, letting out a loud, mighty roar with lightning flashing behind it, illuminating its form. Fergus jumps onto Gyarados' back and they swim out into the open sea. A Trainer jumps onto his Fearow and they fly off into the sky, following Corey's example, while another Trainer takes to the water with his Kingler.

As both Trainers and Pokémon head out, Officer Jenny runs out to stop them, holding her hat with her left-hand with Miranda following her.

"Come back here, or I'll place you all under arrest!" Jenny yells

Neesha takes out a Pokéball in her right-hand and throws it up, sending out her Pokémon: Dewgong.

"Dewgong!" Dewgong howls

Neesha jumps onto Dewgong's back and they dive down into the water. They soon leap out into the air and dive down again, jumping wave after wave as they swim out into the raging storm. Another Trainer followed with his Scyther, holding onto it's blade-arms.

"Come ba-Ah!" Jenny exclaims

The fierce winds blows Officer Jenny's hat out of her grip and it flies off into the dark, stormy sky.

"I knew we couldn't stop all of them. Some trainers have no fear." Miranda says

"Huh?" Jenny says

"They wouldn't have come if they knew they would be stopped. They are Pokémon Trainers. Adventurers. To them, this is just one more challenge. They follow their hearts. That is what sets them apart and will make them Pokémon Masters. Good luck to all of you." Miranda says

Officer Jenny and Miranda watch as the Pokémon and their Trainers set out on their journey to New Island, to their destiny. Across from them on their left, Devon, Ash, Pikachu, Misty, and Brock run out onto the port, equally determined to make their own journey to New Island.

"The world's greatest Pokémon Trainers are out there across the sea, waiting for us, waiting for me! Let's use our Pokémon and get over to that island!" Ash says gripping his right-hand in determination

"Pika!" Pikachu says mimicking Ash as he gripped his right-paw into a fist

"Ash, we don't have any Pokémon that can cross such an angry sea. They can't possibly handle giant waves like this." Misty says looking on her right

Ash thought about what Misty said. The only Water-type Pokémon he had was Squirtle, and he wasn't sure if it was strong enough to handle the violent waves of the sea. He didn't want to admit it, but Misty was right about the storm and their Pokémon.

"You're right..." Ash sighs in defeat

"Pika Pika..." Pikachu sighs in defeat

Devon looks at Ash on his right, seeing the disappointed look on his and Pikachu's face, and felt bad for them. This was his chance to achieve his dream of becoming a Pokémon Master, it meant everything to him, but with no strong Pokémon to carry them safely through the storm, they were stuck on the port. He crosses his arms and looks down as he tried to think of something.

"Hmm... There's gotta be some way to get to that island." Devon says

Suddenly, a Lapras-shaped pedal boat sails into the port with the Team Rocket Trio on board, disguised as sailors, wearing white sailor uniforms, and reflective shades to hide their identities.

"The waves may be against us. But who cares? Yeah, who cares? Just grab the wheel. We hail from the churning waves of Cinnibar Strait!" Jessie and James sing together

"Sing it out!" Meowth says

"When trouble pays someone a call." Jessie sings

"That's when we rush to give it our all." James sings

"That far horizon's got our name. We'll never be the same!" Jessie and James sing together

Devon held an awkward expression and sweat-dropped when he saw the strange sailors and their Pokémon-shaped boat while Ash, Pikachu, Misty, and Brock were glad to see them.

"Coming? Well, it'll cost you." Jessie says

"But if ye tell a good tale, we may just take you anyway." James says

The Pokémon Trio were thrilled as they now had a way to cross the sea.

"All right! Take us!" Ash exclaims happily

"Pika! Pika!" Pikachu exclaims happily

"You know, that boat has such great timing." Brock says

"Hmm... Yeah... A bit convenient, ain't it?" Devon says raising his right eye-brow

As the Pokémon Trio proceed to board the boat, the Keyblade Wielder stared at the sailors with suspicion. He noticed that two of the sailors had red and blue hair, and the third sailor was a talking Meowth. It they were who he thought they were... Unfortunately, Devon didn't have a choice as he was clearly out-voted by the three Pokémon Trainers, and he joined his friends on the boat, stepping onboard.

With the Keyblade Wielder and the Pokémon Trio onboard, Team Rocket set sail on their Pokémon-shaped boat across the open sea, beginning their voyage towards New Island. The eyes of the mechanical Lapras shined brightly like headlights in the dark storm as the waves rocked the boat back and forth. Meowth was stationed at the front of the boat, acting as Captain. Brock and Misty sat together in the first row while Devon, Ash, and Pikachu sat behind them in the next row. Jessie and James sat at the rear of the boat, singing together as they paddled the vessel with their legs.

"Fits us to a tee. Riding the briny sea. Custom-built for three. Riding the briny sea. Fits us to a tee." Jessie and James sing together

As the Team Rocket paddled the boat, Misty looks back at Togepi as it's head poked out of her bag.

"Stay in there for a while, okay, Togepi? Everything's gonna be alright." Misty says

"Pi." Togepi squeals

Listening to it's Trainer, Togepi hides back in the bag while Misty looks around at the boat, concerned for the safety of her friends and herself.

"Is this boat really safe, bobbing in all these waves?" Misty asks

"Uh, is that really a trick question?" Devon asks

"It's just like taking a bath." Jessie says

"Wet at first, but soon, you'll take to it." James says

"Captain! Isn't it about time?" Jessie says

"Aye-aye." Meowth says

Meowth glances down at the controls of the boat infront of him and he smiles with a chuckle.

"Heh heh. With one click." Meowth chuckles

Meowth pushes the button and the boat instantly goes into turbo as the two jet motors are activated. Everyone screamed and held on to the railings of the boat as it immediately picked up speed, jumping up and down over the waves. It was a very bumpy ride as the heroes were lifted out of their seats with each jump.

After five jumps over the waves, the boat takes off over a very large wave as everyone screams, holding on for dear life. The mechanical Lapras flies airborne for at least ten seconds of airtime until it dives underwater, dragging the group with it. Team Rocket's disguises are washed off by the current as Meowth floats back past Devon and Ash to Jessie and James.

"I've heard of being wet behind the ears, but this is nuts!" Meowth says

"It's you three!" Ash exclaims

Ash gurgles and holds his breath, forgetting that they were underwater. The Lapras-shaped boat resurfaces and the heroes face Team Rocket as they were now exposed.

"Team Rocket!" Misty exclaims

"I should've known there was something fishy about them." Devon says

"Yeah. Besides the way they smell. It's about time you guys showed up." Brock says

"What are you doing here?!" Ash asks in a demanding voice

"Ha! Prepare for trouble, what a thing to say!" Jessie says

"And make it double!" James says

"Forget the motto! We've gonna have to wait-" Meowth exclaims

Another huge wave throws the boat high into the air and everyone is thrown out into the sea. Team Rocket falls out first, then the Keyblade Wielder and Pokémon Trio fall out afterward, becoming separated from each other. Being submerged underwater by the waves, Misty takes out one of her Pokéballs and sends out one of her Water-type Pokémon: Staryu, the Starfish Pokémon.

"Hyah!" Staryu grunts

Staryu swims over to it's Trainer and Misty grabs hold of her Pokémon as it pulls her up to the surface. Brock was up on the surface himself, alone and completely helpless against the violent sea since he had no Water-type Pokémon of his own, being a Rock-type Trainer and all.

"Ash! Misty! Devon!" Brock calls

A large wave crashes down on Brock, sending the Gym Leader down under the water. He soon reemerges above the water with Misty, holding on to Staryu.

"Where's Ash and Pikachu?! Where's Devon?!" Misty asks

"I don't know!" Brock says

Another wave crashes down on the two Gym Leaders, forcing them underwater. Devon, Ash, and Pikachu reunite with Misty and Brock, using Squirtle to swim through the water as they held onto Squirtle's shell. Ash grabs hold of Misty's left-hand and the group rise up to the surface, gasping for breath.

"Guys! Stay together! It's our only chance!" Devon shouts

"Pika!" Pikachu says

A third waves crashes down on the heroes, forcing them back underwater, but they quickly swim back up to the surface. Staryu and Squirtle battle against the rough waves and high winds, carrying the heroes through the vicious sea.

As the heroes traverse across the waves, a loud rumble of thunder attracts Devon's attention, causing him to look up at the dark sky as lightning flashes overhead. Staring up at the storm, the lightning reflected in Devon's eyes, discharging multiple forks of electricity, and Keyblade Wielder found himself lost in his visions as they appeared in his mind.

"DaRkNeSs WiLl RiSe. ThE hEaVeNs WiLl PaRt. PoWeR wIlL bE uNlEaShEd!"

First was the night the Celestial Realm was invaded by the Forces of Darkness. The black sky flashed with dark blue lightning and rumbled with loud thunder while humans, dragons, and saurians in Starlight Town fled in fear, screaming in pure terror as their beloved home was destroyed left and right, burning in flames and collapsing into rubble. Bolts of lightning strike down on some of the buildings, sending many chunks of stone large and small flying, crushing and killing the poor souls unfortunate to be within close proximity of the blast. The smoke and dust of the collapsed buildings Devon's vision as he snaps back into reality.

Squirtle and Staryu jump off a large wave and fly through the air, diving into the water. Swimming underneath the waves, the Water-type Pokémon dodged the underwater rock spires, shifting left and right as they carried Pikachu and their human passengers. Squirtle and Staryu swim underwater for three minutes until they come up to the surface again, allowing the heroes to breathe for air. Another flash of lightning and more visions appear in Devon's mind.

"LiFe Is FrAgIlE. In ThE eNd, OnLy DeAtH rEmAiNs."

Lord Thanatos stands above the citizens of the Celestial Realm in the grand plaza of Starlight Town, wearing his black cloak while riding on the back of his black dragon, Ragnarok. Standing alongside them were villains that Devon did not recognize. A man with a red cybernetic eye. Another man with deathly pale, decayed skin, wielding a bony scythe. A demonic humanoid with a large mouth full of razor sharp teeth, and spikes and long blades extending from his arms. Two women who stood together. They looked beautiful, yet sadistic. One carried a ring blade behind her back with her right-hand, and the other carried two black sai at her waist. A tall, large humanoid creature that looked like a cross between human and dragon with four arms, and a muscular body. A dark human-like entity with glowing green eyes and grey, decayed skin. And a massively tall, muscular humanoid creature that looked like a pure monster with dark grey skin, an exposed ribcage with a glowing heart inside, bony spikes protruding from it's elbows, and blade-like tentacles extending from it's back.

Lord Thanatos stared down at the terrified inhabitants with his glowing red eyes and a murderous, sinister grin.

"SHALL WE BEGIN?"

Each of the villains mercilessly killed and slaughtered those unfortunate to be in their sights, using whatever weapons they had at their disposal whether it was blade, tooth, or claw. It was a complete bloodbath. A horrifying genocidal massacre. Each kill worse than the other. The plaza quickly filled up with dead bodies whether they were broken, mangled, chopped up, burned, melted, skinned to the bone, or destroyed beyond recognition. Lord Thanatos stood by and watched as his Forces of Darkness commenced with their slaughter. A bolt of lightning strikes down from the dark sky, blinding Devon's vision as he returns to reality once more.

Squirtle and Staryu jump off another huge wave and dive into the water with a big splash. Fighting the underwater currents, the two Pokémon swim through the water for an additional two minutes, dodging more rock spires until Squirtle speaks to Staryu.

"Squirtle! Squirtle!" Squirtle says

"Hyah!" Staryu grunts

The two Water-type Pokémon swim up toward the surface, knowing that Pikachu and their human passengers needed to breathe for air. But before they could reach the surface, Devon winced his eyes tight and grunted in pain.

"Hmmph!" Devon grunts

Intense pain went through Devon's mind, causing him to lose his grip on Squirtle's shell. Ash, Pikachu, Misty, and Brock looked back in shock.

"Devon!" Ash exclaims

"Pika!" Pikachu exclaims

The Keyblade Wielder clutched his head with both hands and kicked his legs as he twisted and turned wildly in the water as the current dragged him down deeper. His voice was muffled and he gurgled with large bubbles escaping from his mouth, wasting a lot of air.

"BURN THIS WORLD TO THE GROUND. LEAVE NOTHING STANDING. LEAVE NONE ALIVE."

All the previously mentioned visions ran through Devon's mind bindingly fast all at once while Lord Thanatos's maniacal laughter echoed in his head. In addition, new ones appeared in Devon's mind. The citizens of the Celestial Realm fled in terror as Heartless, demonic creatures, zombies, werewolves, monstrous mutants, and every sort of nightmarish creature imaginable hunted them down, killing every innocent creature in their path, adding to the worldwide genocide.

"In LiGhT, tHeRe Is OnLy WeAkNeSs... OnLy PaIn... OnLy DeAtH..."

A flash of lightning strikes down, obscuring Devon's vision as it changes to the Keyblade Graveyard. Devon watched in horror as his parents and his friends, Terra, Ventus, and Aqua suffered at the hands of Lord Thanatos, Master Xehanort, and Vanitas. Shara suffering an intense electrical assault from Lord Thanatos as he electrocuted her with a powerful dark lightning blast through his right-hand, enough to make her skeleton illuminate. Ducar screaming out in agony in the Keyblade Graveyard as Lord Thanatos choked him with his left-hand and dug his other hand into his chest. Terra exploding with darkness as he screamed out in anger while facing Master Xehanort. Ventus restrained by Unversed as Floods coiled around his body while Vanitas, unmasked, stares down at him with a sinister smile. Aqua falling back first into the black depths of darkness.

"LeT tHe PoWeR oF dArKnEsS... sInK iNtO yOuR sOuL!"

Countless screams echoed in Devon's mind, adding on to the insane torture. As all this went on, Lord Thanatos' voice slowly grew deeper, darker, and more demonic until the Dark Lord of the Shadows himself was laughing in Devon's mind, tormenting him endlessly.

Ash, Pikachu, Misty, Brock, Staryu and Squirtle emerge to the surface and they gasp for air. They had made it through their rough journey and were now floating within the eye of the storm as everything was calm and quiet. Then, the Pokémon Trio immediately remembered Devon, who was still down underwater, not knowing that he was experiencing a violent mental assault.

"What happened to Devon?!" Misty exclaims

"I don't know!" Ash says

Deeply worried for the Keyblade Wielder, Ash looks down at Squirtle, leaving it to him to rescue their friend.

"Squirtle, you gotta save Devon!" Ash exclaims

"Squirtle!" Squirtle says nodding his head in understanding

The blue turtle descends back underwater and swims down towards the Keyblade Wielder, who was quickly drowning. He had lost his ability to swim due to the overwhelming pain coursing through his head and his movement got slower and slower until he felt limp. As he slowly sank deeper in the water, Devon's form briefly changes into a faint image of his mother, Shara, before changing back to himself again. Devon saw Squirtle swimming towards him, but his vision became blurry and he soon blacked out, succumbing to the pain in his head and the lack of oxygen. Squirtle reaches the Keyblade Wielder and swims under his right-arm, pulling him back up to the surface using all his strength.

Up above, the Pokémon Trio float about in the water, looking around in deep worry, wondering where and when Squirtle might surface. Already a few minutes has passed with no sign of Squirtle or Devon.

"Pikachu..." Pikachu says in a worried voice

"Oh, where are they?" Misty asks

Suddenly, a bunch of bubbles appeared in the water, causing the Pokémon Trio to gasp and look to their left. Soon, Squirtle emerges from the water with Devon's head and upper body resting on his shell with his arms spread out.

"Oh no!" Misty gasps

"Devon!" Ash exclaims

The heroes swim over to Squirtle as they check on Devon with Misty and Brock on his right and Ash and Pikachu on his left. Ash smacks his right-hand on Devon's back to try and help him breathe again.

"Is he okay? Please don't tell me he drowned!" Misty says in a panicked voice

"Come on, Devon! Breathe!" Ash exclaims

Devon slowly regains consciousness and he coughs out the sea water from his mouth. He splashes his left-hand in the water and coughs out some more. It took Devon a full minute to catch his breath as he rested his head on Squirtle's shell, wheezing and panting heavily.

"Ugh! Huh! Hah! Man... That's... the third time I've nearly drowned." Devon groans

"Devon, are you alright?" Brock asks

"What happened back there?" Ash asks

"Ohh... I don't know, guys. I just... felt this overwhelming pain in my head, like an invisible drill piercing my brain. I thought my head was gonna explode. Ngh..." Devon groans

Ash, Misty, Brock, Pikachu, and Squirtle cringed at the image as they pictured it in their minds.

"Ouch." Ash winces

"Pikachu." Pikachu says in agreement holding his head with his paws

"Oh... Sounds like it really hurts" Misty says

"I'll say. That must be really painful." Brock says

"But that's not all. I saw all these horrible images and visions. You guys don't wanna know what I saw. It was torture." Devon says

"Did this ever happen to you before?" Ash asks

Devon nods his head yes.

"Yes. It's happened before. Several times. I don't know why. I just... can't really explain it." Devon says

Ash, Pikachu, Misty, Brock, and Squirtle gasped and stared at Devon in shock. They had no idea he suffered this much. And if the visions he saw were as bad as he said, then it was best they did not know. Pikachu glances off and his ears perked up when he saw something up ahead.

"Pika!" Pikachu says

Everyone follows Pikachu's and they saw it as well.

"Hey! Look!" Ash says

Ahead of the heroes was their destination: New Island, standing directly under the eye of the storm with the light of the full moon shining over it. On the island stood a large black palace with a tall central spire and multiple shorter spires surrounding it. Each of these spires had large fans, which spun slowly in the wind.

"That's gotta be it. New Island." Devon says

In the skies above, Mew flies over the clouds with the moon glowing in the starry night sky. It was getting close now to the disturbance it felt earlier, and it was stronger than ever. The legendary Pokémon gazed down as it sensed the disturbance coming from down below. Something was under those clouds. Something evil. Something dark and terrifying. Whatever it was, it was immensely powerful, beyond anything that a Pokémon was capable of. Curious to investigate, Mew flies down into the clouds, following the disturbance as it grew stronger.
