Night has finally fallen on the mountain of Farthen Dûr as the Varden braced themselves for the imminent attack by the army of Urgals, who were now closing in on the dwarvish capital city of Tronjheim. The city was now sealed off, leaving just the collapsed tunnel as the only entrance for the Urgals. Hundreds of lanterns were fixed atop poles and stuck into the ground, providing a pool of light that glowed like the evening sun. Fires blazed along the rim of the tunnel's roof with huge cauldrons of pitch heating over them. It was another defense trap that now waited for the monsters.

The sound of the horns continued to fill the air as warriors ran to their assigned positions along the terraces, bridges, and towers. Battalions were split into groups with Ajihad and Nasuada stationed in the center on a terrace. Hrogthar to their right. Jörmundur and Orik on the left. Arya was also on the right between Ajihad, Nasuada, Hrogthar, and their warriors. And surprisingly, Murtagh was also among the Varden's forces, having been released by Ajihad and given a chance to prove his good intentions. He was stationed with Arya's battalion, armed with his hand-and-a-half sword and his longbow. Ajihad was now armed for battle with a breastplate and an ivory-handled sword. Nasuada was also armed in a similar manner to her father. The leader of the Varden looked over to the dwarf king on his right and nods his head at him while he nods back. He then nods his head to Orik and Jörmundur on his left, who both returned the nod.

While everyone else was on the ground, Eragon, Devon and Saphira stood high up in the dragonhold at the mouth of the cave, gazing down at the valley as they waited to make their grand entrance.

Eventually, a loud pounding sound came from the blocked tunnel, announcing the Urgals' presence to the Varden.

"Ready the archers!" A human warrior shouts

All eyes were now set on the tunnel as everyone stared over at it. A few human and dwarf archers ran and got into position along the ditches near the tunnel, aiming their bows and crossbows at the large pile of rubble. The warriors stiffened. Grips tightened on weapons. No one moved and no one breathed. The pounding got louder and louder by the minute.

Eventually, the tunnel explodes, sending the rubble flying. The Urgals emerge out of the caves, and they all roared with savage war cries, charging into the valley. And with that, the battle begins.

From the dragonhold, Devon, Eragon, and Saphira watched as the battle rages below them. Then, Eragon turns right at the armored dragoness while Devon turns left, and the two boys gaze up at her with Eragon asking his dragon a question.

"I need to know, Saphira. Why me?" Eragon asks

"You choose a leader for his heart." Saphira says

"But I'm not without fear." Eragon says

"Without fear, there cannot be courage. But when we are together, it is our enemies who should be afraid." Saphira says

"Then, are we together, Saphira?" Eragon asks

Eragon draws Zar'roc from its sheathe and holds up the sword as light travels up the crimson blade to the tip.

"As one?!" Eragon asks

In response, Saphira opens her jaws and from between them erupted a great tongue of orange flame, illuminating the dragonhold with its fiery light, while Devon and Eragon watched with big smiles on their faces. Finally, Saphira was able to breathe fire. Now, she was a true dragon.

"We'll take that as a yes." Devon says

Saphira stands tall with a proud smile on her face as she glances down at her Rider and the Keyblade Wielder. Devon and Eragon turn and gaze back out to the ongoing battle down in the valley. Devon stretches his right-hand out and summons his trusted Keyblade: Soul Calibur in a brilliant flash of blue light, which illuminates the cave even more so than Saphira's fire, and swings it over to his side. The heroes were now ready to join the fight.

Down in the valley, the Varden's warriors fought hard against the Urgals as the tunnel's entrance became flooded with combat. Soon, Ajihad gave out a signal to the few men who stood above the tunnel across from him.

"Now!" Ajihad shouts swinging his sword forward

At his command, the men pushed the cauldrons and they tilted on their sides, pouring scalding liquid down onto the Urgals near the tunnel's opening, who howled in pain, arms flailing. Torches were thrown onto the bubbling pitch, and an orange pillar of greasy flames roared up, engulfing the Urgals in an inferno. Similar fires were lit by each battalion. Although the flames burned dozens of Urgals, it did not stop them as more chambered out of the tunnels over their burned brethren. Behind the palisade, the first row of archers pulled on their bows and fired. The deadly swarm of arrows ate through the Urgals' ranks. Their line wavered, threatening to break, but the Urgals covered themselves with their shields and weathered the attack. Again, the archers fired, but the violent creatures continued to stream onto the surface at a ferocious rate. The opposing army formed a solid mass of bodies that stretched endlessly from the tunnel.

The Urgals dashed against the rows of stakes, covering them in slick blood and limp corpses as the ranks of the vanguard were crushed against the posts while a cloud of black arrows flew overhead at the crouched defenders. Momentarily foiled by the pickets, the Urgal horde milled with confusion, but more war cries were raised again as they surged forward. The momentum carried the Urgals through the stakes, where a line of pikemen jabbed frantically at their ranks, trying to repel them. They held briefly, but the ominous tide of Urgals overwhelmed them.

Suddenly, a loud roar soon fills the air, which echoes all across Tronjheim, causing Ajihad, Nasuada, Hrogthar, Orik, Jörmundur, Arya, and Murtagh to look up toward the dragonhold. Devon and Eragon were now on Saphira's back, ready to take off into battle.

"Into the sky! To win or die!" Eragon says

"We fight as one!" Devon says

With that said, Saphira leaps out of the dragonhold and takes to the air. Tucking her wings in, the armored dragoness descends in a steep dive down into the valley.

"Fire!" Eragon shouts

Spreading her wings open only several feet high from the ground, Saphira opens her mouth and breathes a long stream of flames on the Urgals down below, setting them ablaze.

"Yeah!" Eragon hollers with excitement

"Whoo!" Devon whoops equally excited

The Varden's warriors raised their weapons high into the air and cheered for Devon, Eragon, and Saphira as they flew overhead.

Saphira soon drops down onto the valley and leapt into the fight, diving into a whirlwind of noise and blurred action. With her jaws and talons, the blue dragoness tore through Urgals left and right. She stomps her right-paw down on one Urgal infront of her, swings her tail at two more Urgals behind her, and grabs another Urgal with her jaws, shaking it around for a bit before tossing the dead creature aside. From Saphira's back, Eragon parried a hammer blow from an Urgal chief on the left with Zar'roc, while Devon parried a sword blow from another Urgal on the right, protecting her vulnerable wings. An Urgal bowled over a wounded dwarf and hacked at Saphira's front right-leg. His sword skated off her armor with a burst of sparks. Eragon smote him on the head, but Zar'roc got stuck in the monster's horns, and was yanked from his grasp. With a curse, he dived off Saphira and tackled the Urgal to the ground. He jerked Zar'roc out of the horns and stabs the creature dead through his chest.

Devon was still on Saphira's back, swinging his Keyblade down and stabbing at any Urgal that attacked them. He looked over at Eragon on his left as he continued killing Urgals with each swing from Zar'roc, then saw an Urgal charging at him from behind with its double blade. Devon stood up on Saphira's saddle and leaps toward the monster. Eragon had just killed an Urgal with a stab to its chest, causing the humanoid creature to grunt and fall dead to the ground, and he turned around to see the charging Urgal heading straight toward him. Just as it was about to reach him, Devon leaps into action and knocks the Urgal away from Eragon with a flying kick through his extended right-foot. The Urgal rolls across the ground, eventually stopping on its left-side, but immediately got back up and charges at Devon, yelling angrily. Soon, the monster swings his double blade down at the young teen, who instinctively blocks the attack, holding Soul Calibur horizontally right above his head. Devon and the Urgal were now engaged in a blade lock with the Urgal pushing his weapon down on Devon using his brute strength, but the clash was brief as Devon pushed back and shoved the double blade away to the left. He then strikes the Urgal with a right slash, cutting across his body. The monster grunts and swings his bladed weapon with a left slash in an attempt to slice the Keyblade Wielder in half. Devon quickly ducks down and counters the attack with a right-side kick to the Urgal's ribs, a right uppercut slash slicing upwards on the monster's body, and a reverse roundhouse slash to the head, making the Urgal flip over and fall to the ground. Two more Urgals rushed at Devon from the front, and both swinged their swords at him. Devon held his crystal Keyblade above his head and blocked the swords as they came down on him with strong force, which nearly brought him down to his knees. The clash lasted longer than the last one, at least for six seconds until Devon slowly pushed up against the Urgals. He soon shoves the monsters back, delivers a wide right slash to both of them, and kicks them away with a splitting jump kick.

Devon, Eragon, and Saphira reunited with each other and observed the different battles that raged around them. To their left, Orik hewed Urgal necks with mighty blows of his battle axe. On their right, Arya leapt past the lifeless body of an Urgal and swung her sword down at another one, only to be caught by the Urgal's blade. She swung it away to the right and quickly cuts down the creature with a left slash across its body and a right slash to his throat. Another Urgal charges at Arya with a war cry and swings his sword with a left slash, only to be blocked as Arya swung her sword and caught the blow with an overhead strike, putting them both in a blade lock. Murtagh fought near the elf princess as he swung his sword angrily, cutting through every defense. And infront of them, Ajihad cuts an Urgal with a right slash across his body, then grabs the creature and wraps his left-arm around his head, using him as a human, or Urgal shield against three more Urgals that attacked him. With a swing of his sword, the dark-skinned man cuts the war-like creatures down, then twists the neck of the Urgal in his grip, killing him. On Hrogthar's side, three Urgals attacked him and his two dwarf guards, while they jabbed their weapons to fend off the monsters. Murtagh saw this and switched to his bow after killing an Urgal. Deftly, he nocked three arrows onto his bowstring and released, killing the three Urgals and saving Hrogthar and his guards. The dwarf king looked over at his savior and nodded his head in thanks while Murtagh lowered his bow and nodded back.

Soon, the battle became too chaotic for Devon, Eragon, and Saphira to continue on the ground. And so, the two boys quickly climbed up into Saphira's saddle and the blue dragoness takes flight, rising above the armies and giving the trio much needed respite from the madness. Eragon's breath trembled. Every fiber of his being thrilled with energy, making feel more alive than ever before. The same could be said for Devon.

Saphira circled in the air long enough for them to recover their strength, then descended toward the Urgals, skimming the ground and approaching from behind, where their archers were gathered. Before the Urgals realized what was happening, Eragon lopped off the heads of two archers, Saphira disemboweled three others, and Devon shot down three Urgals with blue magical blasts of light through Soul Calibur. The dragoness took off again as alarms sounded, quickly soaring out of bow range. They repeated this tactic on different flanks of the Urgal army. Saphira's stealth and speed, combined with the darkness of the night, made it impossible for the Urgals to predict where she would strike next. Eragon used his bow whenever Saphira was in the air, but he quickly ran out of arrows. The only thing left in his quiver was his magic, which he wanted to keep in reserve until it was desperately needed. Devon switched Formchanges and used Soul Calibur in its Crystal Bow form, shooting between one and three light arrows for multiple shots, even an occasional explosive arrow, which decimated the Urgal ranks in large, bright explosion of light. As an addition to his arsenal, Devon also used magic arrows, each of certain elements and color. Fire arrows were red and traveled in a trail of flames before hitting their group of targets, unleashing fiery bursts on impact and setting Urgals ablaze. Ice arrows colored ice blue flew in trails of frost, dissipating in bursts of ice on impact and freezing many Urgals. And lightning arrows colored yellow, which traveled and sparked with lightning bolts, detonating in bursts of electricity upon impact and electrocuting dozens of Urgals until they were dead.

The fighting continued from one endless hour to another. The Varden and the dwarves were exhausted. And just when things couldn't get any worse, the Imperial Army arrives with thousands of soldiers descending down from the western slopes of the valley. Although the entrances and passageways to Tronjheim were sealed off, the army had somehow found their own way into the valley. Lord Drazor and Durza stood up on the edge of a cliff high above the city with two soldiers behind them, watching as their army marched into battle. Durza was now garbed in black armor with a long snakeskin cloak billowed around him.

Saphira flies over the Imperial Army and breathes her fire down on the soldiers, setting hundreds of them ablaze. Durza grunts angrily as he saw this, and began chanting a dark spell, stretching both hands out towards the battlefield.

"Anori Draumr abr Sundavrblaka..." Durza chants

As Durza conjures up his evil spell, all the charred, dead bodies of both the Urgals and the imperial soldiers that Saphira had set ablaze turned to smoke and ash and gathered in the center of the battlefield.

"...it ator Virliger!" Durza chants

Then, a huge, black cloud of smoke and ash erupts high into the air and a large, shadowy bat-like creature soars out from the cloud, letting out a demonic roar. Durza laughs maniacally in a sinister tone as the evil creature flies up to him and Lord Drazor.

Back down in the valley, the fighting continues as the Varden was now fighting both the Urgals and the imperial soldiers. Murtagh was moving across a bridge to help Hrogthar on his side of the battlefield when an Urgal came up and attacked him. The humanoid monster swings his double blade down at Murtagh, but misses as he leans over to the left, striking the wooden railing of the bridge instead. Murtagh quickly cuts down the Urgal and was about to move when he saw three soldiers move onto the bridge ahead of him, blocking his path. He was about to turn around when three more soldiers moved onto the bridge and ran toward him, preventing him from going back. Murtagh was trapped. Devon, Eragon, and Saphira down toward the scene and they saw Murtagh and the soldiers on the bridge.

"Look! There's Murtagh!" Devon says

"He's in trouble! Time to return the favor!" Eragon says

Saphira swoops down toward the bridge and turns upside down. Devon and Eragon swing their weapons at the soldiers on both sides of the bridge as they pass over it with Zar'roc on the left and Soul Calibur on the right, saving their friend. Murtagh looks up at the trio as they rise back up into the sky with a smile on his face.

"I guess we're even!" Murtagh says

Devon and Eragon look back at Murtagh and smiled as they heard this, then focused on the battle at hand as they continued flying.

After watching the battle for long enough, Lord Drazor and Durza ride their Sundavrblaka into the sky with the shadowy creature's form illuminated by the full moon behind them. The Sundavrblaka spreads its bat-like wings and descends into a dive towards a wooden tower where several of the Varden's archers were positioned. The archers fired their arrows at the two villains in a huge volley. Durza stretches his left-hand forward and creates a dark barrier which shields him and his dark beast from the arrows. Lord Drazor steps up next to the Shade on his right and dark flames envelopes his right-hand as he holds it up. Using a Dark Firaga spell, Lord Drazor brings his hand across his body and thrusts it forward, launching a dark fireball through his open palm at the tower. The fiery dark projectile flies fast in a straight path toward the tower and condenses into a huge black-violet explosion on impact, destroying the tower and killing the numerous archers that were on it. Devon, Eragon, and Saphira notice the explosion and they fly around to confront Durza, Lord Drazor, and their Sundavrblaka.

"Come! Taste the blood of your dragon!" Durza yells

"Let's finish this!" Eragon yells

"Once and for all!" Devon yells

Saphira shoots a large fireball from her mouth at Durza, who simply blocks it with his right-hand. The Sundavrblaka tries to bite the trio, but Saphira flies down and dodges the attack and Devon and Eragon both stab the underside of the dark creature as they fly underneath. Zar'roc had no effect on the shadowy beast, but Soul Calibur seemed to have more of an effect with the Sundavrblaka letting out a pained howl as the crystal Keyblade cut through its underbelly, leaving a blue trail of light in its wake. Devon and Eragon turn and look back at the evil beast as Lord Drazor and Durza fly back around.

"Well, that's a creepy looking beastie." Devon says

"What is that thing?" Eragon asks

"Dark magic." Saphira says

Coming back around, Lord Drazor's hands sparked with dark blue electricity. He cups his hands close together and conjures up a ball of dark lightning into a single point between his hands. The Dark Knight spreads his hands apart and arcing streams of electricity surges in between them. With the heroes dead in his sights, Lord Drazor pulls his hands over to his right-side, then thrusts them forward, shooting a powerful, streaming blast of dark lightning.

"Incoming!" Devon exclaims

Saphira quickly looped around and skimmed the crater walls, narrowly evading the electric blast as it misses her tail, blasting away a large chunk of rock and stone in a huge explosion, leaving behind a large crater on the inner walls of the mountain.

"Closer, so we can reach Durza's heart!" Eragon says

"This time, rip it out of his chest!" Saphira says

Saphira flies higher into the air, then loops around into a dive, heading straight for the Sundavrblaka. The shadowy beast flies up to meet her head on. Within moments, they smash into each other with Devon and Eragon grunting from the impact. Saphira bites down on the right-side of the Sundavrblaka's head with her jaws but inflicts no such damage to the evil creature. The Sundavrblaka flips Saphira over with its head and the armored dragoness hangs onto the back of the shadowy creature, going for Lord Drazor and Durza, who stood and stared at her, not blinking even as she roars loudly at them. Durza draws his sword, which was long and narrow, manifesting it into his right-hand through dark red flames, and both he and Lord Drazor leap up with a somersault, dodging Saphira's jaws as she lunges forward to bite them. Then, Duzra strikes Eragon with a somersault slash, his sword smote heavily across his back, cutting through mail and skin. Eragon screamed as pain blasted through him. Saphira falls off the Sundavrblaka and was now in freefall with her riders still on her back. The dark creature dives down after them, opening its large mouth, which was full of sharp teeth. Saphira breathes fire at the shadowy beast's face, but that doesn't stop it and the Sundavrblaka clamps its jaws down on Saphira's neck, punching through her dragon armor and piercing her neck scales. The blue dragoness squeals out in agonizing pain while Devon and Eragon watched in horror.

"Saphira!" Eragon screams

"No!" Devon screams

"Hear her scream!" Durza yells

Desperate to free herself, Saphira curls her large body and swings the large mace on her tail at the Sundavrblaka, striking the right-side of its face, but the attack had no effect. Eragon stabs the beast with Zar'roc several times, but even that had no effect. Devon watched all this in shock until he gripped his left-hand into a fist, his shock replaced with anger. He stabs the shadowy beast in the head with Soul Calibur, and the Sundavrblaka finally releases the dragoness, letting out a pained roar of its own. Saphira pulls away and breathes another stream of flames on the shadowy creature's face, her helmet pulled off in the process. As she does, Devon jumps off Saphira using Flowmotion, and lands on the back of the Sundavrblaka behind Lord Drazor and Durza. The two villains turn to face the Keyblade Wielder with Lord Drazor summoning his Dark Keyblade: Fear's Shadow and Durza chuckling evilly, while Eragon and Saphira fly away to a safe distance. Devon grunts angrily and grips Soul Calibur tightly in his hands as he got into battle stance.

As Devon engaged in his fight with Lord Drazor and Durza, Eragon looked down at Saphira, deeply worried about her condition after taking such a blow.

"Saphira! Your hurt!" Eragon exclaims

"Don't worry about me. Keep your mind in the fight." Saphira says

On the back of the Sundavrblaka, Devon blocks a downward strike from Lord Drazor, holding Soul Calibur over his head, then slightly jumps over to the right as Durza attempts to stab him with his sword. He swings Fear's Shadow away to the right and counters the Shade's attack with a high left front kick to the head and a reverse roundhouse kick again to the head, knocking Durza back. Lord Drazor comes back at Devon with a right slash, an upward slash, and a downward slash, but the young teen parries his blows and counters with a right slash to the Dark Knight's chest, knocking him back as well. Grunting in anger, Durza hurls a dark blast through his left-hand at Devon, who deflects the attack with a swing of his Keyblade, sending it flying up towards Eragon and Saphira. The dark blast nearly misses by inches behind them and explodes on the crater's inner walls.

To see more of what was going on down below with Devon, Eragon uses his magic to see through Saphira's eyes.

"Skulblakas Ven!" Eragon chants

Now looking through Saphira's eyes, Eragon looks over on his right and watches as Devon fought both Lord Drazor and Durza, quickly switching between opponents every few second as he parried their attacks, even ducking down and leaning his body away from some blows. Suddenly, his vision began acting strange as the hues in his eyesight switched back and forth between gray and regular.

"What's happening? My vision's failing." Eragon says

"It's not you, but me." Saphira says

Eragon looks over at the blue dragoness as she grunts in pain, suffering from the wounds on her neck.

"This wound weakens me." Saphira says

"Easy, Saphira. We're going to get through this. Together." Eragon says

"I'm losing strength, and Devon won't last long against Durza or that Dark Keyblade Wielder. We must help him." Saphira says

Eragon looks down toward Devon as he continues holding out against the two villains, and he soon comes up with an idea, putting on a determined expression.

"I know what I have to do." Eragon says

Back down on the Sundavrblaka, Devon holds up his crystal Keyblade as he caught the Dark Keyblade: Fear's Shadow, and Durza's sword as they swung down on him, putting the three of them in a blade lock. The clash was very brief as Devon kicked both the Dark Knight and the Shade in the sides of their ribs with his right-foot, then swings a wide left slash at the two villains, only to miss as they both jump back. Lord Drazor rushes back at Devon with a right uppercut slash but was blocked as the young teen held his Keyblade opposite of his. He pulls his Dark Keyblade away and goes for a right slash, only for Devon to parry his blow again.

While Lord Drazor dealt with Devon, Durza turns his gaze toward Saphira and begins attacking her. He hurls a blast of darkness at Saphira, landing a hit to her back where her saddle was, but Eragon was no longer in the saddle, much to the Shade's surprise. Eragon was actually on Saphira's tail, standing on the flat blades of the large mace. Before Durza could realize what was happening, Eragon gave his dragoness the signal.

"Now!" Eragon shouts

With a pained grunt, Saphira swings her tail and sends Eragon flying toward Durza at high velocity. The Rider slams into the Shade, knocking him off his dark beast. Lord Drazor was about to strike Devon with a left slash when he saw what happened with Eragon and Durza, causing him to stop his swing midway. While he was distracted, Devon thrusts his left-hand forward and throws Lord Drazor off the Sundavrblaka with a strong telekinetic blast, sending him falling into the valley. Then, he turns to deal with the shadowy beast. Devon slices down across the length of the evil monster's back with Soul Calibur, leaving a slash mark of blue light in its wake. Then, he turns his crystal Keyblade over and stabs down into the wound, killing the dark creature with a finishing blow. The Sundavrblaka roars out in pain and disintegrates in a flash of light. Devon fell through the air, but he was soon caught by Saphira as she catches him in her claws.

Now in a freefall, Eragon and Durza grappled with each other. The Shade growled angrily as did the Dragon Rider. A hidden reserve of strength suddenly welled up inside Eragon, dredged from the deepest part of his being. All of his pain and rage focused on one word.

"Brisingr!" Eragon chants

Zar'roc blazed with bloody light, heatless flames running along the blade. Eragon lunges forward and stabs Durza through the heart while the Shade screams out in pain and shock.

"That's for Brom!" Eragon shouts

Durza's skin began to turn transparent. Underneath was neither flesh nor bone but swirling patterns of darkness. The dying Shade looked up at Eragon as he smiled triumphantly.

"I expected more." Eragon says

Eragon pulls Zar'roc out from Durza and the Shade let out an unearthly howl. He shrieked louder as the darkness pulsated, splitting his skin. With one last cry, Durza was rent from head to toe, releasing the darkness in his body until he finally disintegrates into dust.

Eragon turns toward the ground and screams as he falls through the sky, but he is soon caught by Saphira. The trio were now descending rapidly toward the ground. Saphira holds the boys close to her chest, turns her back toward the ground, and wraps her wings around her body, forming a protective shield for her riders as they braced themselves for a hard landing. Within moments, they crash into the ground on the outskirts of the valley. Devon and Eragon were thrown away from Saphira as they all bounce up and down on the ground, spinning in the air. Eragon lands flat on his stomach and Devon lands hard on his back, while Saphira skids to a stop on her right-side. It took Eragon a while to recover, but then he looked over at his dragon as she laid not far from him.

"Saphira!" Eragon cries out

Eragon staggers to his feet and hastily limps over to Saphira. Upon reaching the mortally wounded dragoness, he falls onto her neck and slumps down next to her. Eragon looks at his left-hand and saw that it was covered with his dragoness' blood coming from her open wound.

"We did it..." Saphira says

Eragon turns his head left at the dragoness with deep worry clear on his face.

"Saphira?" Eragon says

"Together." Saphira says

"Whatever life there is in me, take it." Eragon says

"Eragon, no." Saphira says

Eragon glances over at the large wound on Saphira's neck and puts on a determined expression. He had already lost Uncle Garrow and Brom. He was not going to lose his dragon. He forces himself up as Saphira continues speaking to him.

"Even you don't have a heart... strong enough for... both of us." Saphira says

In a desperate attempt to save Saphira, Eragon holds his right-hand out and gathers up all his strength as he cast his magic, saying the words of the Ancient Language as he focused on healing the wounded dragoness.

"Waíse... heill!" Eragon chants

Eragon's palm glowed and shined with a blue light as he held it trembling over the wound. The healing process wasn't long as it lasted only ten seconds. He had managed to save Saphira from losing too much blood and he had healed her wound slightly, but that was all he could do with the strength he had. Saphira soon closes her eyes and loses consciousness. And having used up much of his energy, Eragon falls forward on his dragon's neck with half of his body hanging over her and passes out as well.

Just as Eragon passes out, Devon slowly recovers and rolls over onto all fours. Lifting his head up, he looked ahead of him and saw the Rider and his dragoness lying unconscious together. Devon's eyes widened in shock and a horrified gasp escapes his breath.

"Eragon! Saphira!" Devon exclaims

Devon pushes himself up onto his right-knee and slowly rose up onto his feet. But before he could even move toward his friends, a dark blast strikes the ground infront of him and condenses in a huge black and violet explosion, which reflects in Devon's widened eyes. The blast then sends the Keyblade Wielder flying backwards until his back smashes into a large rock and he falls flat onto the ground. The attack came from Lord Drazor, who drops down out of nowhere, landing a few feet away from the downed Keyblade Wielder.

"Misery, pain, and suffering. That is all that consists of your life." Lord Drazor says

Devon slowly pushes himself up as Lord Drazor continues walking towards him and talking.

"It is what you chose. And it is what your parents chose." Lord Drazor says

Eventually, the Dark Knight reaches the young teen as he stood up onto his feet.

"Did the Inheritor ever tell you how your mother and father died? How greatly they suffered? How easily they were destroyed? Allow me to show you!" Lord Drazor asks

Lord Drazor swings Fear's Shadow at Devon with a left slash, who instinctively blocks with Soul Calibur, but then he delivers a strong left body jab to Devon's stomach, causing him to lurch forward. The young teen falls down on one knee, reeling in pain, then looks up to see Lord Drazor swinging his Dark Keyblade down towards him. He immediately rolls out of the way to the right just as Fear's Shadow comes down and jumps back onto his feet. Devon rushes at Lord Drazor and attacks with a thrusting strike but misses as the Dark Knight takes a small leap to the right. He then swings Soul Calibur with a right slash, which Lord Drazor dodges leaning his body back, and a left slash, which was blocked as the Dark Knight held his Fear's Shadow vertically and caught his blow, putting them in a blade lock.

"Your father was the first to die. He was strong, but his power was nothing compared to mine. His pride, his arrogance, and his failures ultimately led to his demise. I can see much of it lies in you." Lord Drazor says

Lord Drazor swings Soul Calibur over and away to the right, then headbutts Devon in the head, causing him to stagger backwards. Next, the Dark Knight sends his right-knee into Devon's chin and delivers a left-hook across the right-side of Devon's face.

"Your mother came next. She, too, was weak, utterly helpless against my power. I remember seeing the fear in her eyes as she slowly bled to death. How she choked on her own blood as the life fled from her body." Lord Drazor says

Pulling Fear's Shadow back, Lord Drazor delivers a strong uppercut slash to Devon's chest, knocking him into the air and sending him flying backwards until he crashes on his back.

"Gaaah!" Devon cries out in pain

The Dark Knight rushes at the young teen just as he rises up onto feet and goes to strike him with Fear's Shadow raised over his right-shoulder. Devon blocks the attack, but he receives another kick to the stomach, which sent him staggering. Then, Lord Drazor punches Devon twice across the face with two left-hooks, and a right-kick to the chest that knocks him down. Devon gets back up, and a gasp escapes his mouth as Lord Drazor swings Fear's Shadow at him with a right slash. Everything moves on slow-motion as Devon leans his body back to dodge the strike. He manages to avoid taking a major hit, but he wasn't fast enough as the sharp tip of the Dark Keyblade grazed his face, leaving a long cut across his right-cheek. Devon stumbles and loses his balance, falling backwards onto the ground on his rump.

The Keyblade Wielder brings his right-hand to his face and feels the wet cut on his cheek with the index and middle finger of his right-hand. He looks down at his fingertips to see them covered in blood, then glances up to see Lord Drazor leaping forward at him with Fear's Shadow raised over his head. Reacting quickly, Devon grabs Soul Calibur, rolls backwards, and hand flips away just as the Dark Knight brings his Dark Keyblade down, and lands a few feet away. Then, he thrusts his left-hand forward and uses a Blizzaga spell, shooting a stream of frost at Lord Drazor's legs, freezing them in ice and holding the villain in place. Devon rushes to strike the evil Keyblade Wielder while he was distracted, but Lord Drazor thrusts his left-hand forward, using a Dark Firaga spell as he launches a black-red fireball through his open palm. The fireball hits Devon in the chest and knocks him down on his back. While the young teen was down, Lord Drazor breaks his legs free from the ice with a strong punch, then approaches Devon as he slowly rises up. He delivers a reverse roundhouse kick to Devon's face, making him spin around and leaving him disoriented.

While Devon was stunned and dazed, Lord Drazor grips his left-hand into a fist and thrusts it forward, hurling a strong electric blast through his fingers at the young teen, which sends him flying backwards until he hits a tree and falls down on his stomach. Dark blue electricity sparks over his body as he groans with blood dripping from his head and mouth. Devon slowly pushes himself up and looks ahead of him to see Soul Calibur laying just a few feet away from him. He crawls over to his Keyblade, fighting the pain all across his body. Just as he places his right-hand on the handle, Lord Drazor's right-foot steps down on it with a crunching sound, causing Devon to grunt and scream in pain.

"Aaaaaah!" Devon screams

The young teen looks up at the Dark Knight as he towers over him, gazing down at the pitiful Keyblade Wielder.

"Pitiful. Still just a child. Weak and pathetic, like your parents. And to think, you give hope those around you, but in the end, it is only false. And this..." Lord Drazor says

The Dark Knight glances back over his left-shoulder at the unconscious Eragon and Saphira behind him.

"...is what hope delivers. Your friends blindly follow you wherever you go." Lord Drazor says

Lord Drazor gazes back down at Devon as he slowly rises back up, using Soul Calibur as a crutch. Before Devon could do anything, the Dark Knight stretches his left-hand out and hits Devon with a Dark Blizzaga spell, freezing him in ice with frost covering his whole body. Unable to stand up, the young teen falls backwards onto his back. Only his head was able to move.

"Since you care about them so much, I will see to it that they all suffer a slow and painful death. One by one, they shall perish before the Dark Lord's wrath!" Lord Drazor says

Devon gasped and his eyes widened with shock. He pictured such a fate happening to all his friends and the thought of their deaths was unbearable. Devon's face slowly turns to anger as he looks up at Lord Drazor with fire in his eyes.

"Now, you can watch your friend and his precious dragon meet their end." Lord Drazor says

Lord Drazor turns around and starts walking toward Eragon and Saphira, intending to kill them. Devon grunts and struggles against the ice. Soon, the Dark Knight stood before the Rider and dragoness and held Fear's Shadow infront of him with both hands. He turns the Dark Keyblade over so that the blade was pointed down at them and slowly raises it up over Eragon. In a series of flashbacks, Devon took the form of Ventus when he was frozen during the epic battle in the Keyblade Graveyard, switching back and forth every few seconds. Lord Drazor took the form of Vanitas as he prepared to finish off Eragon and Saphira, who were replaced by Aqua. Devon struggled as hard as he could to break free of the ice. The pain fueling his rage as he grunted and groaned louder. Eventually, a blue light shines from Devon's body and he was free. Just as Lord Drazor was about to deliver the death blow, he heard the Keyblade Wielder's voice cry out behind him.

"No!" Devon yells

Lord Drazor turns around and saw Devon running straight toward him. Before he could react, the young teen tackles into the Dark Knight, both of them flying over Eragon's unconscious body. Both of them rolled across the ground until Devon rolled onto his feet, grabs Lord Drazor by the back of his neck and waist and throws him away. The Dark Knight rolls up to on his feet and skids to a stop on his left-knee. He then stood up and turned to face the Keyblade Wielder.

Lord Drazor thrusts his left-hand forward and hurls a blast of dark lightning at the Keyblade Wielder through his fingertips. Devon held up Soul Calibur horizontally in defense as he deflected the electric attack, the lightning bolts bouncing off the crystal Keyblade, flying everywhere in multiple directions. A bolt struck a tree at its base, causing it to fall over on its side while another bolt destroys a large rock, blasting it to pieces. And a few lightning bolts struck dangerously close to Eragon and Saphira, missing them a few inches off. Lord Drazor focused more power into his attack, making Devon slide backwards slightly, but the young teen stood firm, fighting back against the dark lightning. Eventually, Devon shoves the electric blast away, sending it back at the Dark Knight as it struck him in the chest and knocked him back, breaking the power struggle. Devon spins Soul Calibur around him and slams the Keyblade into the ground, generating a small earthquake, which also kicked up pillars of rocks underneath Lord Drazor, knocking him into the air for a second until he falls back onto the ground, landing on his back. Then, Devon raises Soul Calibur into the air, summoning a giant meteor that plummets from the sky and crashes down on Lord Drazor, triggering a massive explosion on impact. Devon shields himself from the explosion using his right-arm as the area filled with smoke.

When the smoke dissipates, all that stood before Devon was a crater only a few inches deep, and a pile of rocks, which were all shattered pieces of the meteor. A bladed right-hand slowly emerged from the rubble and soon the Dark Knight rose up with rocks rolling off his body. His cloak had been torn and singed in some places here and there, and few traces of scarring now showed on his armor, more notably on his chest where it was impacted most. Before the villain could recover, Devon rushes forward at Lord Drazor with a charging attack, propelled by a flurry of wind, and strikes him across the chest with a left downward slash, sending the Dark Knight flying backwards. Lord Drazor slams into a rock on his back and falls down on one knee. Devon comes up to him, grabs the villain by the neck of his armor, lifts him up straight, and slams Soul Calibur into his stomach, making him lurch forward. He then proceeds to hit Lord Drazor with five left and right slashes across his body, swinging his crystal Keyblade with both hands. Then, he pulls Soul Calibur back over his right-shoulder and delivers one final, incredibly strong blow to the Dark Knight's chest that smashes him through the rock and sends him sliding across the ground until he slides to a stop. With that, the fight was finally over as Lord Drazor laid on his back defeated. Dark mist seeps off his body and the Dark Knight began to fade away, disappearing into the darkness.

Devon de-summoned his Keyblade and stood up straight, panting for breath, completely exhausted. His muscles were sore and his body ached with pain. The Keyblade Wielder turns around and looks over at Eragon and Saphira as they laid unconscious on the ground.

"Eragon... Saphira..." Devon whispers

Devon hastily takes four steps toward them, but the pain from earlier forces him down to his knees, and he collapses onto the ground, landing flat on his stomach. Pushing himself up, the Keyblade Wielder looks over up at the Rider and his dragoness. Fighting the aches and pains in his body, Devon slowly crawls toward Eragon and Saphira, grunting with each pull across the ground.

After what seemed like forever, Devon eventually reaches them. He places his right-hand on Saphira, caressing her head gently, then looks over at Eragon on his left. A sad expression filled Devon's face as tears flowed from his eyes and he hung his head low over the blue dragoness. Lifting his head up, the young teen looked over at his Celestial Ring on his right middle finger as his hand rested on Saphira's head, the translucent blue crystal glowing with its light. His sadness now replaced by determination. There was still a way he could save Eragon and Saphira. It was very risky given his current state, but he was willing to do whatever it takes to help them.

And so, Devon stood up on his knees and stretched out his hands towards Saphira's head, grunting in concentrated as he called upon the Power of Healing. A blue light emits from his open palms, and they glowed brightly with pure energy, illuminating the area with its benevolence. Eragon and Saphira also glowed with the same light as the healing waves washed over them. Devon's magic was much stronger as his healing powers helped Saphira's skin flow together, sealing up all the wounds on her neck. The healing process lasted for a long fifteen seconds before the light fades away, having finished their work.

Devon lowers his hands, completely exhausted. Then, he fell down on all fours and started gagging and coughing out blood and bone from the brutal attacks he had received from Lord Drazor. Having used up almost all his energy, Devon groans and falls over to the right, rolling over onto his back. Breathing heavily, Devon's vision begins to blur as he stared up at the night sky. He could even hear his own heartbeat as its pace became slower and slower.

In the aftermath of the battle, Ajihad, Nasuada, Hrogthar, Orik, Arya, and Murtagh looked around them at all the destruction. Many buildings were destroyed, and countless bodies littered the valley. The Varden had survived the battle and won a decisive victory against the Broddring Empire, but the cost was heavy. Besides the Urgals and the imperial soldiers, dozens of their own warriors died in the vicious battle. While Ajihad and Hrogthar sent their men and dwarves to help the survivors, Arya and Murtagh began searching for Devon, Eragon and Saphira, but could not find them anywhere. But just as they were starting to lose hope, a streak of light flies up into the air over to the west of the valley, acting like a beacon to attract their attention.

That light came from Soul Calibur as Devon held it up to the sky with his right-hand, using the last ounce of his strength to call for help. Devon's arm falls onto the ground and his grip on his crystal Keyblade loosens up as Soul Calibur disappears from his hand. Devon stares up at the sparkles of light as the slowly hovered down from the sky, reflecting in his eyes until his vision blacks out and he loses consciousness.

Author's Note: Here it is! The Battle of Farthen Dûr! The attack is led by Lord Drazor and Durza, while Devon, Eragon, Saphira, Murtagh, Arya, and the rest of the Varden all fight valiantly against the Urgals and the Imperial Army. The heroes face off against the villains in a fierce sky battle and successfully defeats Durza. Then, the battle turns bloody as Lord Drazor brutally beats up Devon with his vicious attacks until he starts to fight back. The battle leaves Devon weakened, but not before he uses the Power of Healing to help Eragon and Saphira. Only one chapter left to finally finish Devon's adventure in Alagaësia. And to anonymous (guest), I know you mean well, especially with your ideas, and I appreciate them, I really do, but in all honesty, they just don't seem to interest me. Besides, to create another character and add them into the stories I have already would be a huge mess. Not only that, but I've also already got dozens of people asking to create more OCs and it's costing me a ton of stress, which I don't really need. I'm sorry if I crushed your hopes and dreams, but I hope you at least understand. Having cleared that up, let me know what you guys think. No flames please. Hope you guys like and don't forget to review!
