After the holidays, the second term of Hogwarts resumed. Winter began to thaw out with the snow melting away on a clear sunny day. Colorful butterflies flew around as Alura LightHeart, the radiantly beautiful Unicorn trotted along the grounds, looking around at the green grass and white lily flowers as they slowly blossomed. Then, she looks over at the Whomping Willow as it shook its large trunk around, shaking off all the ice and snow that covered it.
Early on January, Professor Lupin met with Devon and Harry inside the Astronomy Room in Hogwarts Castle, where ancient charts draped the walls, gleaming spheres of spun glass orbit one another in mid-air, and planetary models and armillary spheres filled the room, as they prepared for their Anti-Dementor Lesson. Lupin was up on a platform on the second level, gazing down at the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy as they stood together on a raised platform at the top of three steps. Six curvy skeletal spine-like candles, three on both sides, stood around the platform.
"Now, are you sure about this, boys? You know, this is very advanced magic, well beyond the Ordinary Wizarding Level." Lupin asks
"We're sure." Harry says
"Hey, what's life without a few challenges, right?" Devon says spreading his arms out
"Well, everything's prepared." Lupin says pointing down to his left with his left-hand
Devon and Harry looked over to their right and before them was a ornate wooden chest with two sets of linear, horizontal locks near the splitting halves of the container. The two boys stared at it for a moment before looking back up at the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher as he descends down the metal stairs on his right, making his way down to them.
"Now, the spell I'm going to try to teach you is called the Patronus Charm. Did you ever hear of it?" Lupin says
"No." Harry says
"What is it?" Devon asks
"Well, a Patronus is kind of a positive force, and for the wizard who can conjure one. it works something like a shield with the Dementor feeding on it rather than him. But in order for it to work, you need to think of a memory." Lupin says
"But let me guess. Not just any memory, right?" Devon asks
Lupin sits down on the wooden chest.
"Right. A very happy memory, a very powerful memory. Can you do this?" Lupin says
"Hey, I'm all about happy memories." Devon says
"Very well." Lupin says
Lupin stretches out his right-hand and points his index and pinky finger at the boys.
"Close your eyes." Lupin instructs
Devon and Harry both do as instructed and close their eyes. The Keyblade Wielder took a deep breath and exhaled.
"Concentrate. Explore your pasts." Lupin says
Rising up from his seat on the chest, Lupin slowly circled around the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy.
"Do you have a memory? Allow it to fill you up. Lose yourself within it. Then, speak the incantation, Expecto Patronum." Lupin says
"Expecto Patronum." Devon and Harry chant in unison
"Very good." Lupin says
Ready to begin, Lupin walks back over to the chest and stands behind it on the right, placing his hands on it.
"Shall we? Wands at the ready." Lupin says
Devon stretches out his right-hand and summons his trusted Keyblade: Soul Calibur in its Crystal Wand Form, while Harry took out his wand in his right-hand, pointing it straight out. Lupin gestures his right-hand from right to left infront of the chest and the linear locks slide away, unlocking the chest. He looks up at Devon and Harry, pausing for a moment as he stares at them, and the two boys nod their heads.
And so, Lupin lifts the upper half of the chest and a Dementor rises out, hovering infront of the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy. Harry points his wand at the Dementor and speaks the incantation to cast his spell.
"Expecto Patronum!" Harry chants
Nothing happens. All the candles around the platform all blow out as the Dementor looms closer to the boys. Harry tried to speak the incantation again, but he started to feel weak.
"Expecto... Expecto... Expect..." Harry says weakly
Just before he blacks out, Harry heard his mother's voice again as it screamed and echoed in his mind.
"Harry!" Lily's voice screams
Devon catches Harry in his left-hand as he falls backwards, then looks back at the Dementor. His eyes narrowed with determination and he points his crystal wand at the dark creature, speaking the incantation loudly with power in his voice, which filled the room, as he cast his spell.
"Expecto Patronum!" Devon chants
In that moment, a thin wisp of silver-blue escaped from the tip of Devon's crystal wand, then it shoots forth in a bright burst of vapor with a deep whirring sound, projecting an incorporeal Patronus which shields him and the unconscious Harry from the Dementor. Lupin was very pleased by what he was seeing and he laughs excitedly. Lowering his wand, Devon forces the Dementor back into the chest and closes it shut.
"Ha ha ha ha ha! Bravo, Devon! Well done! Well done! Truly spectacular!" Lupin chuckles
The Keyblade Wielder smiles and nods his head. Then, he and Lupin their attention to the unconscious Harry in Devon's arm.
"Oh! Harry!" Lupin says
De-summoning his crystal wand, Devon grabs Harry from under his arms and sets him down gently on the platform with Lupin's help as he came around from the left. Kneeling down over the wizard boy, Devon holds his right-hand over Harry's head and uses the Power of Healing to help him recover. A blue light emitted from Devon's open palm, glowing brightly with pure energy as healing waves washed over Harry with glittering white sparkles, which made magical twinkling sounds. The process lasted for only 6 seconds until Harry slowly regained consciousness, opening his eyes and seeing the light fade from Devon's hand.
"Here we go. Come on. Sit up. Deep breaths. It's alright." Lupin says
Devon and Lupin both slowly lift Harry up, helping him sit upright.
"I didn't expect you to get it on the first time, Harry. That would have been remarkable." Lupin says
Lupin reaches into the right-side of his suit and takes out a wrapped up chocolate bar, giving it to Harry.
"Here. Eat this. You'll feel better." Lupin says
Harry took only a bite out of the chocolate bar and sighed.
"You'll be happy to know, Harry, that Devon mastered his very first Patronus Charm on his first try." Lupin says
"Really?" Harry asks surprised
"Oh, yes. You should've seen him. It was most, most impressive." Lupin says
Harry looks up at Devon on his left and rises up onto his feet, looking at his best friend with a smile.
"Congratulations, Devon." Harry says
"Yes. You must feel very proud." Lupin says
"Thanks, guys." Devon says
Devon and Harry look over at the wooden chest that continued the Dementor while Lupin walks around the platform, lighting the candles back up with his magic by running his right-thumb, index, and middle finger along the black flick.
"That was one nasty Dementor." Harry says
"Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no. That was a Boggart, Harry. A Boggart. The real thing would've been worse. Much, much worse. As a matter of interest, what were you thinking? Which memory did you choose?" Lupin says
"The first time I rode a broom." Harry says
"Well, that's not good enough. Not nearly good enough." Lupin says
Lupin turns around after lighting the last candle and looks at Devon, wondering what memory he used to power his Patronus Charm.
"Devon, perhaps you can help Harry. What memory did you choose?" Lupin asks
"Well, it's not exactly a memory, per se. It was more like a thought. A happy thought." Devon says
"And what did you think of?" Lupin asks
Devon puts his hands in his pockets and walks to the front of the platform, gazing up at the gleaming spheres of spun glass, the planetary models, and armillary spheres as they floated about in the air and orbited one another.
"All of my friends, my family, standing together on the beaches of Destiny Islands. Sora, Riku, Kairi, Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Draxon, Roxas, Naminé, Hayner, Pence, and Olette. Terra, Ventus, and Aqua, my missing friends reunited with us. My companions, Luna, Spyro, Cynder, Hiccup, Astrid, Toothless, all my friends from Berk. I thought about them, seeing their smiles, being there with them." Devon says
The Keyblade Wielder pauses for a moment and places his right-hand to his Kingdom Hearts chain necklace, touching the blue crystal heart before continuing on.
"And... I also saw my mother and father, Shara and Ducar, alive. Seeing their faces, knowing how extremely proud they were of me, how much they all loved me, and how our hearts connected with each other." Devon says
Devon turns around to his left and faces Harry and Lupin with a happy and determined look on his face.
"Me, my parents, my friends, all of us, standing together... like a real, true family." Devon says
Harry and Lupin felt touched by Devon's words.
"To me, that sounds like a very good thought. Family and friends are truly what makes most people happy. If I were you, Devon, I would cherish that in my heart always." Lupin says
Lupin looks at Harry on his right, hoping that he was inspired to choose a better memory for his Patronus Charm.
"Harry, I assume that helped provide you with some inspiration on your next memory?" Lupin asks
Harry looks down for a moment in thought, then looks over at middle the skeletal spine candles on his right near the metal stairs. He approaches it and carefully touches the flame on the candle slightly with his left-index finger.
"There's another. It's not happy, exactly. Well, it is. It's the happiest I've ever felt... but it's complicated." Harry says
"Is it strong?" Lupin asks
Harry turns around to his right and nods his head.
"Then let's give it a try. You feel ready?" Lupin says
Facing the chest once more, Harry puts on a determined expression and points out his wand, ready to go again.
"Just do it." Harry says
"You got this, Harry." Devon says patting Harry's left-shoulder twice with his right-hand
Devon steps away to the left of the platform and Lupin opens up the chest again, releasing the Boggart Dementor into the room. Harry aims his wand at the hooded creature and speaks the incantation.
"Expecto Patronum!" Harry chants
Again, nothing happens. Still aiming his wand, Harry speaks the incantation again with more power in his voice.
"Expecto Patronum!" Harry chants
Just as with Devon before, a bright silver-blue burst of vapor shoots forth from Harry's wand with a deep whirring sound, projecting an incorporeal Patronus, which shields him from the Boggart. Lupin was very pleased by what he was seeing. Not only did Devon succeed in conjuring the Patronus Charm, but now Harry did as well. With a big smile on his face, Lupin laughs at the triumph.
"Yes!" Lupin says
Lowering his wand, Harry forces the Boggart back into the chest and closes it shut. Harry wobbled over to the right and leaned against the white marble column as he recovered from using the spell.
"Well done, Harry! Well done!" Lupin says
"I think I've had enough... for today." Harry says
The Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and professor all sit down on the stairs of the platform with Harry on the right, Devon in the middle, and Lupin on the left.
"Yes. Sit down. Here, eat this, it helps. It really helps." Lupin says
Lupin gives Harry some more chocolate, which the wizard boy gladly accepts, taking another bite.
"Just so you know, Harry, I think you would have given your father a run for his money. And that is saying something." Lupin says
"I was thinking of him... and Mum. Seeing their faces. They were talking to me. Just talking. That's the memory I chose. I don't even know if it's real, but it's the best I have." Harry says
Devon looked at Harry next to him as he said this. Then, he looked down at his necklace, feeling the smooth, translucent crystal heart with his right-hand and wondering if what he chose for a happy memory was even real.
Two months later in March, Devon, Harry, Ron, and Hermione walk together out of the Clock Tower and across the courtyard as they head put to meet with Hagrid down by the Black Lake, hearing about Buckbeak's case with the Ministry of Magic after the incident with Malfoy near the start of the first term. Ron and Hermione weren't exactly on speaking terms since Ron's pet rat Scabbers was missing again and he blamed Hermione's cat Crookshanks for his disappearance, believing he had killed his rat.
On this day, Harry wore a black long-sleeve shirt with his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, black trousers, and grey shoes. Ron wore a brown long-sleeve sweater with blue and white stripes on the front and a blue stripe on his upper arms, brown pants, and brown shoes. And Hermione wore a white hooded jacket with black stripes on her upper chest and waist, her shoulders, and wrists and three black eagles on her jacket, two in the front and one in the back. She also wore tan jeans and black shoes.
"Beautiful day." Hermione says
"Gorgeous. Unless, of course, you've been ripped to pieces." Ron says
"Ripped to pieces?" Devon asks
"What are you talking about?" Harry asks
"Ronald has lost his rat." Hermione says
"I haven't lost anything. Your cat killed him." Ron says
"Rubbish." Hermione says
"Devon, Harry, you've seen the way that bloodthirsty beast of hers always lurking about. And Scabbers is gone." Ron says looking right at Devon and Harry
"Well, maybe you should learn to take better care of your pets!" Hermione says
"Your cat killed him!" Ron says
"Did not." Hermione says
"Did." Ron says
"Didn't." Hermione says
"Did too!" Ron says
"Hey, hey, hey, guys!" Devon says
Just before walking onto the wooden bridge, Devon moves infront of Ron and Hermione and places his hands on their shoulders, stopping the trio.
"Enough, alright? Scabbers will turn up eventually." Devon says
"As what? A bloody carcass?" Ron says
"I'm sure Scabbers is still alive, Ron. Like I said, he'll turn up." Devon says
"Thank you, Devon. At least someone believes me." Hermione says
"Now, come on. We got to go check up on Hagrid." Devon says
And so, the Keyblade Wielder and the Wizarding Trio continued walking together, moving across the wooden bridge as they went to meet Hagrid down by the Black Lake.
At the Black Lake, Hagrid stood with his feet deep in the water while he tossed large rocks with his right-hand, making them hop skip far out along the lake's surface with just four or five skips. The Half-giant wore a brown fur suit with a pale blue shirt underneath and an orange-yellow polka-dot tie. Behind Hagrid, Harry sat on a rock on the right with Devon while Ron and Hermione stood on the opposite side. Also with them was Alura LightHeart and her Unicorn Sisters. Alura, Stella, and Brianna stood near Devon and Harry while Valoria, Evelyn, Leila, and Sylvia stood close by to Ron and Hermione.
"So, how'd it go, Hagrid? The hearing?" Devon asks
"Well, first off, the committee members took turns talking about why we were there." Hagrid says
Hagrid tosses a flat rock and it skips far out over the water with five skips.
"And then I got up and did my piece, said how Buckbeak was a good Hippogriff, always cleaned his feathers. And then, Lucius Malfoy got up. Well, you can imagine. He said Buckbeak was a deadly and dangerous creature who would kill you as soon as look at you." Hagrid says
"I wouldn't be surprised if Daddy Malfoy had the same experience as Little Malfoy Jr." Devon says
"And then?" Hermione asks
The Half-giant tosses another rock before continuing on.
"And then he asked for the worst, did 'ol Lucius." Hagrid says
"They're not sacking you." Ron says
"No, I'm not sacked." Hagrid says
Hagrid tosses a third rock, this one skipping four times, then stood silent for a moment. Devon stood up and walked closer to the shore, knowing that something about Buckbeak's Hearing was bothering the Half-giant.
"Hagrid? What is it?" Devon asks
Hagrid stared down at the rock in his hands and took a deep breath, then told everyone of the Ministry's decision.
"Buckbeak's been sentenced to death!" Hagrid says
The Half-giant threw a fourth rock into the lake and it hits the water with a loud splash. Hagrid closes his eyes and starts to sob softly while Devon, Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the Unicorn Sisters stare at him with sympathetic expressions.
"No..." Devon gasps
Alura and Stella trotted over to the sad Hagrid and nuzzle up against him, offering their love and comfort.
"Oh, Hagrid... I'm so sorry." Alura says
Hagrid looks over at the two Unicorns at his sides and he strokes their necks and their manes with his large hands.
"Didn't you guys try to file an appeal for Buckbeak's case?" Devon asks
"We tried, but the Ministry wouldn't 'ave it." Hagrid sobs
"Even with our signed signatures as representatives of Magical Creatures, it wasn't enough to dissuade the Ministry and the Committee into sparing Buckbeak." Evelyn says
"And even Dumbledore himself tried to intervene in Buckbeak's favor, and that still didn't help. No doubt Lucius threatened or bribed the Committee members into conviction." Valoria says
"Yeah. That does sound like something he would do, especially since the Malfoys practically buy their way through everything." Devon says
"That poor Hippogriff..." Sylvia says
The Half-giant continues to sob softly while Alura and Stella try to console him.
"There, there. Shh, shh... It's okay. We're all here, Hagrid." Stella says
Devon felt bad for Hagrid. He was going to lose Buckbeak, a Magical Creature that he really cared for, and it seemed that there was nothing that save him, not even an appeal.
"I wish there was a way we could've helped..." Devon says
One night, Devon and Harry were in the Gryffindor Common Room late at night and neither one of them could sleep. For Devon, it was thinking of Buckbeak's pending execution, which was due by the end of term. And for Harry, he was still trying take in the fact that Sirius Black was his godfather. To take their mind off things, the Keyblade Wielder sat next to the wizard boy on the left-side of his bed with his arms crossed as they both looked over the Marauder's Map, using Harry's wand and a Lumos Charm to illuminate the map, while everyone else was asleep. That was until Ron woke up frightened from a bad dream.
"Spiders!" Ron gasps
Ron jumped up in his bed and looked around, whimpering with fright. He slowly relaxed upon realizing that he was in the dormitory and glanced over at Devon and Harry across from him.
"Spiders... They wanted me to tap dance. I don't want to tap dance." Ron says
"You tell those spiders, Ron." Harry says
"Tell them you're the boss, not them." Devon says
"Oh, yeah. T-Tell them. I'll tell them. I'll tell them tomorrow." Ron mumbles
Laying back down, Ron immediately falls back asleep and snores loudly. Devon smiled and shook his head, then both he and Harry turn back to the Marauder's Map. They saw Mr. Filch's location as he patrolled the corridors near the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom and Lost Wands. Harry unfolds a flap on the enchanted parchment and right away Devon notices something very strange on the map.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Harry, look, look." Devon says
The Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy gaze down at the map very closely and they saw Peter Pettigrew's name on the map as well as his footsteps wandering about in the corridors near the History of Magic and Charms Classrooms. But how could that be if Pettigrew was dead?
"Peter Pettigrew?" Rosmerta's voice says
"Little lump of a boy. Always trailing after Sirius Black." McGonagall's voice says
"Black was vicious. He didn't kill Pettigrew. He destroyed him!" Fudge's voice says
"Peter Pettigrew? He's alive?" Devon says
"Come on." Harry says
Harry slips on a grey hoodie with his plaid pajamas and his black shoes and both he and Devon quietly leave the dormitory.
Going out into the castle to investigate, Devon and Harry explored the Lower Chambers Portrait Corridor where they had last seen Peter Pettigrew's location, using only Harry's wand as a light source with his Lumos Charm to illuminate the hallway. However, the light also made it difficult for the dozens of living portraits on the sides of the corridor to get any sleep, such as an Old Portrait Man, who shielded his face from the light with his right-hand.
"Put that light out." Old Portrait Man #1 says
"Sorry." Harry says
Harry turned his illuminated wand down at the Marauder's Map in his left-hand as he and Devon walked down the corridor together. They could still see their names and footsteps as well as Peter Pettigrew's name and footsteps on the map, showing their exact location in the corridor. According to the map, Pettigrew was directly ahead of the two boys, but it was much too dark for them to see.
"The map says he's right infront of us." Harry says
"But where is he? It's pitch black and I can hardly see anything." Devon asks
Harry held out his wand towards the darkness to illuminate more of the corridor as he and Devon went back and forth between the map and the darkness infront of them. They could hear the pattering sounds of feet in the corridor, which got louder and louder by the minute as the footprints of Peter Pettigrew quickly headed straight for the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy. The two boys panted as tried to see in the corridor for Pettigrew. The mysterious footsteps soon went around them on their right. Harry turned and jumped with a start but calmed down once he realized that it was just a mirror in the corridor. The light from Harry's wand woke up some more portraits as they shield themselves with their hands.
"Watch it there, boy." Old Portrait Man #2 says
"We're trying to sleep here." Young Portrait Man says
"Yes, we are." Secluded Portrait Hermit says
The pattering sounds quickly faded away into the darkness of the night as Peter Pettigrew's footsteps went around the corner of the corridor on the map. Devon and Harry looked back down at the map and were shocked when they saw Severus Snape's name and footsteps appear from an intersecting corridor behind them.
"Oh, no... Snape! We'd better clear out!" Devon whispers
Tapping his wand on the parchment, Harry deactivates the Marauder's Map.
"Mischief managed." Harry says
Then, he puts out the light of his wand.
"Nox." Harry chants
Darkness fills up the corridor again as Devon and Harry prepare to head back to the Common Room. But before they could, a light shines from Professor Snape's wand as he confronts the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy.
"Potter. Devon." Snape says
"Uh... Good evening, Professor Snape. Heh heh. Oh, man..." Devon says with a sheepish smile
"What are you doing wandering the corridors at night?" Snape says
"I was sleepwalking." Harry says
"And I was just coming to escort him back to the Common Room." Devon says
"How extraordinary like your father you are, Potter. He, too, was exceedingly arrogant, strutting about the castle." Snape says
"My dad didn't strut. Nor do I. And we would appreciate it if you could lower your wand." Harry says
Snape lowers his wand and demands Harry to empty out his pockets.
"Turn out your pockets." Snape says
Devon and Harry shared glances with each other, then continue to stare at Professor Snape, who was quickly growing impatient.
"Turn out your pockets." Snape says slowly
Harry takes out the blank Marauder's Map from his left-side of the front pocket of his sweater and shows it to the sour-faced wizard.
"What's this?" Snape asks
"Spare bit of parchment." Harry says
"Really? Open it." Snape says
Harry unfolds the parchment, leaving with just the two folded halves.
"Reveal your secrets." Snape says
Snape taps his wand on the parchment to reveal whatever was hidden and some words fade into view.
"Read it." Snape says
Harry and Devon look down at the words as the wizard boy reads them to Snape.
"Messrs. Mooney, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs, offer their compliments to Professor Snape and..." Harry reads
"Go on." Snape says
"Uh... I don't think you want to hear the last bit, Professor." Devon says
"I said read it." Snape says
"...and request that he keep his abnormally large nose out of other people's business." Harry reads
Snape's face immediately turns to angry, unpleasant frown as he stares at the two boys.
"You asked." Devon says shrugging his shoulders
"Why, you insolent, little..." Snape says
"Professor." A voice says
Snape quickly turns around to his left and shines his wand back at the corridor and surprised to see Lupin standing behind him wearing a grey suit and a black tie.
"Well, well, Lupin. Out for a little walk in the moonlight, are we?" Snape asks
Lupin leans his head over to the left, noticing Devon and Harry infront of him.
"Harry, Devon... are you two alright?" Lupin asks
"That remains to be seen." Snape says
Snape snatches the Marauder's Map from Harry's hand and holds it up.
"I have just now confiscated a rather curious artifact from Mr. Potter and our Keyblade Wielder friend. Take a look, Lupin." Snape says
Snape gives the folded parchment to Lupin, who examines it with interest.
"Supposed to be your area of expertise. Clearly, it's full of dark magic." Snape says
"Oh, I seriously doubt it, Severus. It looks to me as though it's merely a parchment designed to insult anyone who tries to read it." Lupin says
Lupin chuckles with a smile.
"I suspect it's a Zonko product." Lupin says
Snape tries to take the Marauder's Map from Lupin, but the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher pulls it closer to him, away from his reach as his face becomes serious again.
"Nevertheless, I shall investigate any hidden qualities it may possess. It is, after all, as you say, my area of expertise." Lupin says
Turning to the two boys, Lupin asks for them to follow him back to his classroom.
"Devon, Harry, would you two come with me, please? Professor, good night." Lupin says
Devon and Harry follow Lupin as he leads them out of the corridor while Snape watches them disappear into the darkness of the night. The Old Portrait Man saw the sour-faced professor in the corridor and demanded that he puts out the light on his wand.
"Are you deaf? Put that light out!" Old Portrait Man #1 says
Saying nothing, Snape goes back to his patrol of the corridors and diminishes his light with a flick of his wand.
Devon and Harry follow Lupin into Classroom 3C as he opens the door for them.
"Come in." Lupin says
"Thanks for the save, Professor. It looked like Snape was going to kill us back there." Devon says
The Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy walk across the room in between the desks until Lupin stops and turns around to his left to face them.
"Now, I haven't the faintest idea, boys, how this map came into your possession, but frankly, I am astounded that neither one of you handed it in." Lupin says
"What can we say? It was too good of a thing to give up." Devon says spreading his arms and shrugging his shoulders
"Did it ever occur to either of you that this, in the hands of Sirius Black, is a map to you?" Lupin says
"No, sir." Harry says
"Ahh... It may have slipped our minds. Maybe..." Devon says scratching the back of his head with his right-hand feeling slightly ashamed
"You know, your father, Harry, never set much store by the rules, either, but he and your mother gave their lives to save yours. And gambling their sacrifice by wandering around the castle, at night with a killer on the loose, seems to me like a pretty poor way to repay them! Now, I will not cover for you or Devon again, Harry. Do you hear me?" Lupin says
"Yes, sir." Harry says
"I want the two of you to return to your dormitory and stay there. And don't take any detours. If you do..." Lupin says
Lupin taps to the Marauder's Map in his right-hand three times with his left-index finger.
"I shall know." Lupin says
Devon and Harry proceed to walk back towards the door of the classroom when they stop for a moment and turn back to Lupin.
"Professor, just so you know, I don't think that map always works. Earlier on, it showed someone in the castle. Someone I know to be dead." Harry says
"Oh, really? And who might that be?" Lupin asks
"Peter Pettigrew." Harry says
The professor stared at Harry with a surprised expression.
"That's not possible." Lupin says
"It's just what we saw. Good night, Professor." Harry says
"Night." Devon says
After having said that, Devon and Harry take their leave of the classroom, heading back to the Common Room, while Professor Lupin stares down at the Marauder's Map in his hands, curious as to why the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy saw Peter Pettigrew on the map.
Months later, Harry and Ron continue their classes with Devon and the other third years, taking their Divination finals with Professor Trelawney in her classroom.
"Broaden your minds. You must look beyond." Trelawney says
For their lesson with the Divination teacher, the third years had crystal balls on small stands, which had nothing more than blank white swirls inside.
"The art of crystal gazing is in the clearing of the inner eye. Only then can you see." Trelawney says
At their table, Harry was resting his head on his crossed arms, trying to gaze into the crystal ball, Ron was resting his head on his left-hand, snoring as he fell asleep from boredom, and Devon leaned back against his seat between them with his arms crossed. Professor Trelawney approaches their table and Harry and Ron straighten themselves up.
"Now, what do we have here, hmm?" Trelawney asks
And just like before, Hermione appears in the classroom, sitting next to Ron on his left.
"Oh, do you mind me trying?" Hermione asks
"Ah... Ah." Trelawney says
"The Grim... possibly." Hermione says
Trelawney stares at Hermione and leans closer to her.
"My dear, from the first moment you stepped foot into my class, I sensed that you did not possess the proper spirit for the noble art of Divination." Trelawney says
The Divination teacher holds up Hermione's left-hand with both hands and examines it.
"No, you see, there? Ah, you may be young in years, but the heart that beats beneath your bosom is as shriveled as an old maid's. Your soul, as dry as the pages of a book to which you so desperately cleave, mm-hmm?" Trelawney says
Feeling insulted by Trelawney's words, an angry frown forms on her face and Hermione rises to her feet, knocking the crystal ball off its stand with her right-hand and sending it rolling towards the door leading out into the spiral stairwell. She grabs her bag and her books and storms out of the classroom.
"Have I said something?" Trelawney asks
"Yeah. I think you just insulted her, Professor." Devon says
After the class had ended, Devon, Harry, and Ron descend down the spiral stairwell with the other third years, still surprised by Hermione's behavior in the classroom.
"She's gone mental, Hermione has. I mean, not that she wasn't always mental, but now it's out in the open for everyone to see." Ron says
"Hang on." Harry says
Harry stops and looks down, seeing the crystal ball that Hermione kicked out of the classroom at his feet. He bends down and picks it up in his hands.
"We better take this back." Harry says
"I'm not going back." Ron says
"Alright. We'll catch up with you and Hermione later then." Devon says
While Ron continues descending the stairs, Devon and Harry head back up to return the crystal ball to Professor Trelawney.
Returning back to the Divination Classroom, the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy walk over towards Professor Trelawney's table and set the crystal ball down on the empty stand. As soon as Harry sets it down, a mysterious face appears in the crystal ball. Devon and Harry were about to walk away when they saw the face in the crystal sphere, and they stare down at it. It almost looked like Sirius Black, calling Harry's name.
"Harry Potter..."
Suddenly, Trelawney's right-hand grabs Harry's left-shoulder, causing him and Devon to turn around with a start.
"Professor." Harry says
The Divination teacher gasps and wheezes as though she was sick.
"Professor Trelawney? Are you alright?" Devon asks in concern
"He will return tonight..." Trelawney says with multiple eerie voices
"What?" Devon asks
"Tonight, before midnight, he who betrayed his friends, whose heart rots with murder, shall break free. The Dark Lord shall rise again with the servant's aid, greater and more terrible than he ever was. Innocent blood shall be spilt, and Servant and Master shall be reunited once more!" Trelawney says with multiple eerie voices
Trelawney chokes, coughs twice, and hacks, blinking her eyes as she snaps out of her trance. Then, she looks over at Devon and Harry on her right.
"Oh, I'm sorry, dear boys. Did you say something?" Trelawney says
"No." Devon says
"Nothing." Harry says
"Uh, excuse us, Professor." Devon says
Alarmed by what they just heard and saw, Devon and Harry quickly made their way out of the classroom, and they descend down the spiral stairwell to catch up with Ron and Hermione and tell them what just happened.
Author's Note: Here it is! Devon and Harry both learn the Patronus Charm, Peter Pettigrew's alive, and Professor Trelawney has just predicted Voldemort's return. The coming of age in the Wizarding World. Has anyone seen the 20th anniversary of Harry Potter: Return to Hogwarts? I found it rather interesting, seeing the Wizarding Trio and the crew back together. Here's a fun fact: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone, aka the Sorcerer's Stone, was released in the U.K. on June 26, 1997, and the U.S. novel, the Sorcerer's Stone, on September 1, 1998. I was three years old back then. And then, the film was made on November 4, 2001 in the U.K., November 14 in the U.S. ten days later, and two days later on the 16th worldwide when I was seven. So, I practically grew up with the Harry Potter Franchise, and that alone makes me feel special like the wizard boy. To anonymous(guest), you do realize that the GiganDrake, and Wrathius are Unversed, right? And the MercBrutes, aren't they Nobodies? These creatures cannot appear in Sleeping Worlds that have yet to be brought back. It would just throw the plot out of whack. I can't help but feel that you're taking advantage of my story and I want to point some things out. When it comes to your creatures, there's only 5 things I need, only 5: Name, Design, World Appearance, Strength, and Weakness. That's it. Not a whole story. Having cleared that up, there's now only three chapters left in the Prisoner of Azkaban of Year 3. Up next, Sirius Black, Pettigrew's Escape, Lupin's Werewolf Transformation, and a hundred soul-sucking Dementors! Let me know what you guys think. No flames please. Hope you guys like and don't forget to review!
