After the attack on the lake by the Dementors and the series of events that unfolded earlier that same night on June 6, Devon and Harry slowly came to and awoke back in Hogwarts Castle inside the hospital wing. Devon laid in a bed on the left-side of the room and Harry in another on his right.
"Harry? Devon?" Hermione says
The Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy opened their eyes and sat up in their medical beds, shaking off the dizziness. Hermione was next to Harry, sitting on the right-side of his bed.
"Hermione? What happened?" Devon asks
"Well, after Professor Lupin ran off into the Forbidden Forest, Snape brought me and Ron back to the castle. Alura and Stella found you both down by the lake." Hermione says
Devon and Harry remembered the Dementor attack by the lake as brief images of their flashed through their minds. The Dementors sucking their souls, the small blue-white dot of Sirius' soul leaving his body. Then, they remembered the Patronus, the two dazzling, translucent, silver-blue animals, a stag and a dragon, that stood on the opposite bank of the lake. Someone had conjured the spell, but who?
"I saw my dad." Harry says
"What?" Hermione says
"I saw him across the lake. He sent the Dementors away." Harry says
"There was someone else too. I didn't get a good look, but he felt familiar." Devon says
"Listen, guys, they've captured Sirius. Any minute the Dementors are going to perform the Kiss." Hermione says
"You mean they're going to kill him?!" Harry asks nearly jumping up
"No, it's worse. Much worse. They're going to suck out his soul." Hermione says
The wooden double doors to the hospital wing swing open and Dumbledore enters to check in on the Keyblade Wielder and the Wizarding Trio. Devon and Harry immediately got up from their beds and they burst toward the Headmaster with Hermione to explain the truth about Sirius.
"Headmaster, you've got to stop them!" Hermione says
"They've got the wrong man!" Devon says
"It's true, sir. Sirius is innocent!" Harry says
"It was Scabbers who did it." Ron says
Devon, Harry, Hermione, and Dumbledore look over towards Ron, who was on his own bed on the right-side of the room with his right-leg mostly wrapped up in a cast, except for the front of his foot, his toes, and his heel, which were left exposed.
"Scabbers?" Dumbledore says confused with the name
"He's my rat, sir. He's not really a rat. Uh, well, he was my brother Percy's rat. But then they gave him an owl, then I got..." Ron says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione look back at Dumbledore as they explain more.
"He was a former student who attended Hogwarts years ago, Peter Pettigrew. He was the one behind the murders of the twelve Muggles, including Harry's parents." Devon says
"The point is, we know the truth. Please believe us." Hermione says
"I do, Miss Granger. But I'm sorry to say, the word of three underage wizards and a Keyblade Wielder will convince few others. The evidence against Sirius Black is too great." Dumbledore says
Dumbledore walks past Devon, Harry, and Hermione and turns to face them as he stood next to Ron on the right-side of his bed.
"A child's voice, however honest and true, is meaningless..." Dumbledore says
The Headmaster patted Ron's injured leg twice with his right-hand, causing the red-haired teen to whimper from the pain.
"...to those who have forgotten to listen." Dumbledore says
Devon hung his head low and sighed in defeat, feeling bad about everything that's happened in the past few hours. In the chaos of Lupin turning into a Werewolf, Peter Pettigrew escaped. And without him, they would never be able to prove Sirius' innocence. Now, his soul was doomed to the Dementors. Devon looks over at Harry on his right and he felt even more bad for him. Despite their efforts at the lake, Harry was going to lose yet another member of his family. They had failed.
"Poor Sirius... If only we had more time..." Devon says
"Yes." Dumbledore says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione looked over at Dumbledore as steps away from the medical bed and walks back towards the door to the hospital wing.
"Mysterious thing, time. Powerful. And meddled with... dangerous." Dumbledore says
"Sir?" Devon says raising his right-eyebrow
The Headmaster stops near the open doorway and stood with his back towards the heroes as he told them where Sirius Black presently was now.
"Sirius Black is in the topmost cell of the Dark Tower." Dumbledore says
Turning around to his left, Dumbledore looks back at Hermione and gives her cryptic instructions.
"You know the laws, Miss Granger. You must not be seen. And you would do well, I feel, to return before this last chime. If not, the consequences are too ghastly to discuss. If you succeed tonight and all goes well, more than one innocent life may be spared." Dumbledore says walking back towards Devon, Harry, and Hermione
The Headmaster turns back to leave, but then he glances back and makes a turning gesture with his right-thumb and index finger.
"Three turns should do it, I think." Dumbledore says
Dumbledore walks towards the doors of the hospital wing and was just about to close them when he turns back and holds the doors open with his hands, sticking his head through the thin gap as he gave Devon, Harry, and Hermione one last piece of advice.
"Oh, by the way... when in doubt, I find retracing my steps to be a wise place to begin. Good luck." Dumbledore says
Having said that, Dumbledore closes the doors and leaves the Keyblade Wielder and the Wizarding Trio in the hospital wing.
"What the bloody hell was that all about?" Ron asks perplexed
"Sorry, Ron, but seeing as you can't walk..." Hermione says
Reaching into her pink jacket, Hermione takes out a golden chain necklace, which held a small hourglass enclosed inside two rings. She throws the long chain over Devon's neck, then Harry's, and herself before carefully turning the hourglass three times by the small knobs on the sides.
On the third turn, the hourglass spins around and time began to flow backwards. While Hermione kept her eyes on the sands of the hourglass, Devon and Harry watched as everything completely changed around them. Blurry images of themselves, Ron, Dumbledore, Snape, Filch, Madam Pomfrey, and several other nurses, staff, and students moved around the room from one spot to the other through previous events, night turned back into day, and distorted conversations all played out in reverse.
Soon, the hourglass stopped and Hermione removed the mysterious necklace from around Devon and Harry's necks before placing it back into her jacket. The trio had traveled back in time, three hours into the past. The Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy looked around and over at the bed where Ron once was.
"What just happened? Where's Ron?" Harry asks
Hermione looks up at the nearby wooden clock that hung from the wall to the right of the doors of the hospital wing and read the time.
"7:30. Where were we at 7:30?" Hermione asks
"I remember. We were on our way to Hagrid's." Devon says pointing to Hermione with his right-hand
"Come on! And we can't be seen!" Hermione says
Devon and Hermione ran out the open doors of the hospital wing and head down the long corridor with Harry following close behind.
"Hermione! Devon!" Harry exclaims
The trio turn left at the end of the corridor and quickly make their way down stairs of the clock tower. Leaving from the entrance of the tower, they run across the courtyard, slipping past Walden Macnair, the Ministry's executioner, who was too busy sharpening his huge axe to even notice them. Little did he know or care that the three teens were the same ones that had already passed him just moments ago.
Devon, Harry, and Hermione run across the wooden bridge over the ravine, heading toward the Sundial Garden where they remembered going to reach Hagrid's hut.
"Hermione, Devon, wait! Hermione, will you please tell us what it is we're doing?" Harry asks
The trio reach the garden and stopped at the entrance, peering around the left-side with Devon first at the corner, Hermione behind him, and Harry behind her, when they saw a familiar scene unfolding before them. Devon and Harry stared with surprised expressions.
"Whoa..." Devon says
"But... that's us." Harry says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione saw their past selves standing in the garden, confronting Malfoy and his gang with the other Hermione storming angrily towards the blond-haired Slytherin.
"Ah! Come to see the show?" Malfoy says
"You! You foul, loathsome, evil little cockroach!" Past Hermione yells taking out her wand from the right-pocket of her jeans and holding it up to Malfoy's neck while he backed up against the giant stone
"Hermione, no! It's not worth it!" Past Ron says
"Easy, Hermione. Don't do something you might regret." Past Devon says
Harry could not believe what he was seeing. How could all of this be happening all over again?
"This is not normal." Harry says
Grabbing Harry by his shoulders, Hermione pushes the wizard boy back into the entrance. Devon glances back over his right-shoulder at his friends as Hermione pushes Harry back, then looks at the scene in the Sundial Garden for a brief second before going back into the entrance. Hermione takes out her gold chain necklace and holds up the small hourglass, presenting it to the two boys as she explained what it was.
"This is a Time-Turner. McGonagall gave it to me first term. This is how I've been getting to my lessons all year." Hermione says
"You mean, we've gone back in time?" Harry asks
Devon stared in amazement. He had just become an official time traveler. Of course, the Keyblade Wielder had a natural understanding about the conceptions of time traveling, not to mention his time-related magic like the Stopga spell he used against the Pixies in Gilderoy Lockhart's class last year. But he also knew, as well as Hermione, that meddling with something so unpredictable as time can result in disastrous consequences like alternate timelines, paradoxes that could destroy the entire Universe, or un-births, eliminating one's existence.
"Oh, so that's your big secret. No wonder you've been popping up out of nowhere." Devon says
"Yes. Dumbledore obviously wanted us to return to this moment." Hermione says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione return to the entrance to the Sundial Garden and observed their past selves closely.
"Clearly something must've happened that he wants us to change." Devon says
The trio watched as the other Hermione punched Malfoy straight in the face with her right-hand, knocking him down.
"Good punch." Harry says
"Yeah, not bad. I'm sure you gave Malfoy a broken nose right there." Devon says
"Thanks." Hermione says
"Malfoy? Are you okay? Come on!" Goyle says
"Let's go!" Malfoy says
"Run!" Pike says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione watched as Goyle helped Malfoy onto his feet, then were shocked to see that they were heading in their direction.
"Uh-oh! Malfoy's coming!" Devon says
"Quick! Hide!" Hermione says
Moving quickly to avoid being seen, the Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch move away from the entrance to the bridge and jump down into the garden from a separate entryway on the right, crouching down and hiding away from Malfoy and his gang as they run back toward the castle.
"Wait for me." Pike says
"Not a word to anyone. Understood?" Malfoy says
"Okay!" Goyle says
"I'm gonna get that jumped up Mudblood! You mark my words!" Malfoy says
"That felt good." Past Hermione says
"Not good, brilliant." Past Ron says
"Alright, come on. Let's get down to Hagrid's." Past Devon says
Once Malfoy and his gang were gone, Devon, Harry, and Hermione peer around the side and watch as their other selves begin their descent down the hill. Moving out from their hiding spot, the trio head over to the giant stone and look down the hill at Hagrid's hut, but they also noticed something else. The grey Hippogriff was resting down by the pumpkin patch, much like he had done before.
"Look. Buckbeak's still alive." Harry says
"Yeah! He is!" Devon says
"Of course. Remember what Dumbledore said? If we succeed, more than one innocent life could be spared." Hermione says
A smile formed on Devon's face. All those times he wished for a way to save Buckbeak from being executed and now here it was.
"That means we have a chance to save Buckbeak from being executed! Nice!" Devon says
"Let's go!" Hermione whispers
And so, Devon, Harry, and Hermione began to make their way down the hill toward Hagrid's hut, walking along the stone path that went down on the slope. Eventually, the Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch broke off from the path and went over to hide behind the large pumpkins on their right, where they observed their past selves through the open window of the hut. The other Devon and Harry stood at the window with Hagrid until they turned away.
"Great man, Dumbledore. Great man." Hagrid says
As they watched the meeting inside, Devon, Harry, and Hermione heard voices coming from behind them. Glancing back at the hill on their left, they saw Dumbledore making his way toward Hagrid's hut with Fudge and Walden Macnair.
"Fudge is coming, along with Dumbledore and the executioner." Devon says
"We'd better hurry." Harry says
Harry rises up to go free Buckbeak, but Hermione grabs his right-arm and pulls him back down.
"Fudge has to see Buckbeak before we can free him." Hermione says
"Right. Otherwise, he'll think Hagrid set him free." Devon says
The trio focused their attention back towards Hagrid's hut and they watched as the Half-giant gave Ron his pet rat Scabbers, aka Peter Pettigrew.
"Scabbers! You're alive!" Past Ron exclaims happily
"See? What'd I tell you?" Past Devon says
"Want to keep a closer eye on your pets, Ron." Hagrid says
Harry stared at the rat in Ron's hand with anger in his eyes, knowing well enough who it was. The wizard boy remembered last time that in the chaos of Lupin transformation into a Werewolf, Pettigrew escaped. But he wasn't going to let that happen again, not this time.
"That's Pettigrew." Harry says in a low voice
"Harry, you can't!" Hermione says grabbing Harry's right-arm with both hands
"Hermione, that's the man who betrayed my parents. You can't expect me to just sit here." Harry says looking right at Hermione
Harry rises up to his feet again, but Hermione pulls him back down.
"Yes, you must!" Hermione says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione reposition themselves around the hut moving to the right, closer towards the back door.
"Harry, you're in Hagrid's hut now. If you just go bursting in, he'll think you've gone mad." Hermione says
"And chances are, you'll mess up the time stream. Think about it, Harry. If you go barging in there, you'll have to explain to everybody why there's two of you. And not only that, Buckbeak will still be executed, you won't ever meet Sirius, and we'll outright fade from existence because of it." Devon says
"Devon's right, Harry. Awful things happen to wizards who mess with time. We can't be seen." Hermione says
The Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch glance back at Fudge, Dumbledore, and Walden Macnair as they were getting closer towards Hagrid's hut.
"Do you remember this foot path, Minister, from your school days here?" Dumbledore asks
"Yes, yes. There are many changes, I think, looking 'round, you know." Fudge says
"Fudge is coming." Devon says
Then, the trio glance back at the hut, confused as to why their past selves haven't left yet.
"And we aren't leaving? Why aren't we leaving?" Hermione asks
Devon's eyes glanced down as he tried to think back to the events of that day.
"I don't know. The only time we left the hut was when..." Devon says
Devon's eyes widened as he remembered. He looked over at the pumpkin on his right where Hermione currently was and noticed the small ammonites near her.
"Hermione! The ammonites!" Devon says
Hermione grabs the three ammonites with her left-hand and looks down at them in her open palm, then looks at the window of the hut.
"I think that means you owe someone an apology." Past Hermione says
"Right. Next time I see Crookshanks, I'll let him know." Past Ron says
"I meant me!" Past Hermione says
Recalling the events that transpired before, the pot was the first object to be hit. Grabbing the ammonite with her right-hand, Hermione looks back at the hut and throws it. The ammonite flies through the open window and hits the pot, breaking it in half.
"Blimey! What was that?" Hagrid asks
Devon, Harry, and Hermione immediately duck down behind the pumpkins.
"Are you mad?!" Harry asks
Grabbing the next two ammonites in her hand, Hermione throws one at the other Harry and the other at the other Devon, hitting them both in the back of their heads.
"Ow!" Past Harry exclaims
"Ah! What the-?!" Past Devon exclaims
Devon and Harry winced as they saw their other selves get struck by the ammonites.
"Ow. That hurt." Harry says putting his right-hand behind his head
"Yeah. Just watching that made me feel that." Devon says placing his right-hand behind his head
"Sorry." Hermione says
Turning their attention toward Dumbledore, Fudge, and Walden Macnair, the Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch watched as they made their approach to Hagrid's hut.
"Here, uh, here we are." Dumbledore says
The Headmaster taps the wooden door with his white cane in his right-hand, knocking three times.
"With you in a moment!" Hagrid says
Soon, Hagrid answers the door and greets the Headmaster, the Minister, and the Executioner. At the same time, Devon, Harry, and Hermione noticed their other selves peeking out of the back door.
"Ah, Hagrid. How are you?" Dumbledore greets
"Professor Dumbledore. Minister. Just, uh, just make your way through here." Hagrid greets
As Dumbledore, Fudge, and Walden Macnair enter the hut, the other Devon, Harry, Ron, and Hermione exit out the back door, heading straight towards their duplicates.
"We're coming out the back door! Go!" Hermione says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione quickly move away and retreat into the nearby woods, hiding behind the trees as their other selves moved to their spot.
"It is the decision of the Committee for the disposal of Dangerous Creatures that the Hippogriff known as Buckbeak, hereinafter called the condemned, shall be executed this day at sundown." Fudge says
"Oh, dear, dear..." Hagrid says
"Now, now, Hagrid. All right, it'll be all right." Dumbledore says
Peeking her head out from the left-side of the tree, Hermione pushes away some branches with her left-hand and stares at her other self with a befuddled expression.
"Is that really what my hair looks like from behind?" Hermione asks
Suddenly, a branch snaps loudly.
"Hermione!" Harry whispers
Devon, Harry, and Hermione immediately hide as their other selves quickly turn around in their direction.
"What is it?" Past Devon asks
"I thought I just saw... Never mind." Past Hermione says
"Let's go!" Past Ron says
Soon, the quartet leave and head up the hill, while Devon, Harry, and Hermione emerge out of their hiding spot. Returning back to their original spot behind the pumpkins, the Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch looked into Hagrid's hut and saw that the Minister of Magic was deep in his conversation with Hagrid and Dumbledore.
"The executioner, Walden Macnair, shall dispatch the condemned by means of beheading. As witness here under Hagrid, please sign here. Just here." Fudge says
"I-I really think the Minister might feel it in his heart to have a change of mind." Dumbledore says
"It is the decision of the Committee, Professor Dumbledore. Nothing you or I can do will change it." Fudge says
As soon as Fudge and Dumbledore moved away from the window, Hermione gave the two boys the signal.
"Okay, go, guys. Go." Hermione says
Devon and Harry left the cover of the pumpkins and sneaked their way over towards Buckbeak. One or two crows got in their way, pecking at their feet.
"Ow! Get off!" Harry says
"Ah! Ah! Get outta here!" Devon says
The Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy shooed away the pesky black birds and continued to approach Buckbeak while keeping an eye and ear on the conversation inside.
"Minister, you really want to become the Hippogriff?" Dumbledore asks
"No, I do not." Fudge says
"Very well, then." Dumbledore says
"I saw him just the other day. The executioner is acting on behalf of the Committee." Fudge says
Moving to the post where the Hippogriff was chained, Devon and Harry grab the chains and pulls them from the metal ring.
"Very well, gentlemen. Shall we step outside?" Fudge says
The front door to Hagrid's hut slowly swung open and the trio froze as they looked up.
"Uh, Minister? I-I really think I should sign as well." Dumbledore says
"Yes, very well. Perhaps it will be a good thing if you were to." Fudge says
The door closes as Fudge returns inside and the Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy focus back on Buckbeak.
"Okay, Buckbeak? Come on, quickly. Come with us now, okay? Come on." Harry whispers
Devon and Harry pull on the chain leash with much strength, but the Hippogriff refused to move. Inside, the conversation between Dumbledore and Fudge continued.
"I should be very happy if you'd like to keep it. And would you... would you care to sign?" Fudge says
For ten seconds, the two boys kept pulling on the chain, trying to move Buckbeak.
"Hnng! Mmph! Argh! He won't budge!" Devon grunts quietly
"Keep trying! Come on, Beaky!" Hermione whispers
"Buckbeak. Okay, quickly. Hurry up, okay?" Harry whispers
Buckbeak gave off a gurgled grunt as he felt the pull on his leash. The Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy paused from their pulling and looked up at the conversation with the Minister of Magic inside the hut.
"No, not that spot. Just here on the line. Your name only." Fudge says
"It's a very long name, Minister." Dumbledore says
Knowing that they were running out of time, Devon and Harry doubled their efforts and pulled more on the chain leash.
"Hurry up now, Buckbeak, okay?" Harry whispers
"Come on, Buckbeak. Work with us, okay? We're trying to save your head." Devon whispers
Devon let out an aggravated grunt while Buckbeak gave off another gurgled grunt. No matter how much they pulled, the Hippogriff would not budge. Devon looked around and his eyes soon laid upon five dead ferrets that were strung up on a nearby post on his left. He remembered during the Care of Magical Creatures lesson in the first term that Hagrid gave Buckbeak these dead mammals as a treat, and seeing that made a lightbulb light up in his head.
"Hang on! I got an idea." Devon whispers
Leaving Harry to hold on the chain leash, Devon went over to the post and grabbed the string of dead ferrets, slinging them around the back of his neck. Plucking one off the string, the Keyblade Wielder held it up in his right-hand and dangled the treat infront of him.
"Hey! Hey, Buckbeak? See what I got?" Devon whispers
The Hippogriff's head perked up with interest when he saw the dead mammal in Devon's hand.
"Want some dead ferret?" Devon whispers
Squawking eagerly, Buckbeak rose up to his feet and the Keyblade Wielder gave him his treat.
"Here! Catch!" Devon whispers
Devon tosses up the ferret and Buckbeak catches it, devouring the small creature with four bites before gulping it down. Now that they had his attention, the trio began to lead the Hippogriff towards the forest with Devon dangling another ferret in his hand.
"Alright. Now, this way. Come on, Buckbeak." Devon whispers
Just as they started to lead the magical creature away, Dumbledore, Fudge, Hagrid, and Walden Macnair stepped outside through the front door of the hut, causing the Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch to freeze in their tracks. Fortunately, they were looking off towards the hills with Dumbledore pointing at specific spots with his hands.
"Here we are, Minister. Follow me. Now, look there, you see?" Dumbledore says pointing with his right-hand
"Where?" Fudge asks
"Look, beyond the rocks." Dumbledore says
As they froze up, Buckbeak snatched the dead ferret out of Devon's hand, causing him to gasp slightly.
"What am I supposed to see?" Fudge asks
"Professor Dippet had that ling planted when he was Headmaster." Dumbledore says
"Oh, yes. Indeed, indeed." Fudge says
"And all the strawberries you see." Dumbledore says pointing with his left-hand
"Strawberries? I see no strawberries." Fudge says
While the Headmaster, Minister, Executioner, and Half-giant were busy gazing out at the hills, Devon, Harry, and Hermione continued to lead Buckbeak away.
"Alright, Buckbeak. Come on. Come on." Devon whispers
"This way." Harry whispers
Devon dangles a third ferret infront of the Hippogriff and backs away with Harry and Hermione as they lead him into the forest while Dumbledore kept everyone's attention to the hills.
"Over there." Dumbledore says
"Where?" Fudge asks
"See over there? Look again." Dumbledore says
"Well, let's get this over please." Fudge says
"All right." Dumbledore says
By the time the Headmaster, Minister, Executioner, and Half-giant turn around, Buckbeak was gone, along with Devon, Harry, and Hermione. Fudge stared at the spot where the Hippogriff once was with a surprised look on his face.
"But where is it? I saw the beast, just now. Not a moment ago." Fudge says
"How extraordinary." Dumbledore says
As Fudge and Dumbledore went down to investigate, Hagrid looked around with worry clear in his face.
"Buckbeak." Hagrid whispers worriedly
Walden Macnair walks into the pumpkin patch with his large axe while Fudge looks over at Dumbledore and Hagrid, wondering who was responsible for releasing the Hippogriff.
"Oh, come on, Dumbledore. Someone's obviously released him. Hagrid?" Fudge says
"Professor, I swear I didn't." Hagrid says
In the nearby forest, Devon, Harry, and Hermione hid behind the trees, peering around the sides. Buckbeak stood behind the Keyblade Wielder, attempting to snatch another ferret, but he pats his left-hand on the creature's head to settle him down.
"I don't think the Minister's suggesting that you had anything to do with this, Hagrid. After all, how could you? You've been with us all the time." Dumbledore says
"Well, right." Hagrid says
"Well... Well... we must search the grounds." Fudge says
"Oh, search the skies, if you must, Minister. Meanwhile, I'd like a cup of tea or a large brandy." Dumbledore says
"Right." Hagrid says
Dumbledore goes to head back inside the hut, but not before dismissing Walden Macnair, looking at the masked man on his right.
"Oh, Executioner, your services are no longer required. Thank you." Dumbledore says
"You'll find no small glasses in this house, Professor." Hagrid says
And so, the Headmaster and Half-giant step back inside the hut while Fudge remained outside with the Executioner, who lifts up his axe with both hands and slices a huge pumpkin in half with one great chop. The crows flapped around the site, cawing loudly with their distressed voices. The trio watched this as it happened.
"Huh. So that's what happened." Devon says
Later that evening, Devon, Harry, and Hermione led Buckbeak deeper into the Forbidden Forest, now heading towards the Whomping Willow. The Keyblade Wielder tosses the Hippogriff a third dead ferret before removing the rest from his shoulders and setting them down on the ground.
"Here you go, Buckbeak. All yours." Devon says patting the Hippogriff's head three times with his right-hand
While Buckbeak helped himself to the rest of the small mammals, Devon, Harry, and Hermione moved up towards the tree line where they could see the Whomping Willow.
"Now what?" Harry asks
"Now, we save Sirius." Hermione says
"How?!" Harry asks
"No idea." Hermione says
"Well, if we recall correctly, Sirius drags Ron and Pettigrew into the Whomping Willow, right?" Devon says gesturing to Harry and Hermione with his right-hand
"Yes." Hermione says
"And then we encounter him and Pettigrew in the Shrieking Shack. So, we just have to wait until they and our past selves come out and we go from there." Devon says
The trio reach the top of the slope and they could see the large tree now immobilized by Alura LightHeart and her Unicorn Sisters.
"There's Alura and her sisters." Devon says
"And there's Lupin!" Hermione says
The Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher walked over to the seven Unicorns with his wand in hand and meets with them.
"Alura, girls." Lupin says
"Lupin." Stella says
"You're timing couldn't be better. Devon and Harry just went through the secret passage to the Shrieking Shack." Alura says
"Yes, I know. I'm here to help them." Lupin says
"We'd follow too, but we can't fit through." Alura says
"Plus, we just had to immobilize the Whomping Willow with our magic, so we're a bit tuckered out." Evelyn says
"Keep watch. I'll be back." Lupin says
Lupin heads down into the secret tunnel, making his way to the Shrieking Shack. And shortly after, the trio saw Professor Snape arriving on the scene.
"And here comes Snape." Hermione says
"Severus." Stella greets
"Did Lupin come this way?" Snape asks
"Yes. He just went into the secret passage to the Shrieking Shack." Alura says
"I thought so. Stay here." Snape says
And like Lupin, Snape descends down into the tunnel while the seven Unicorns kept watch.
"And now we wait." Harry says
"Yep." Devon sighs
"Now we wait." Hermione says
Making themselves comfortable, the Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch sat down as they were forced to wait for their other selves inside the Shrieking Shack. Several minutes pass and already the darkness of the night was beginning to fall over Hogwarts. A flock of bats fly through the forest, chirping and screeching. Devon, Harry, and Hermione duck down as the small winged creatures flew overhead into the night sky from behind, then looked back to see Buckbeak having the time of his life, jumping up and trying to catch the bats with his beak.
"At least someone's enjoying himself." Hermione says
"Heh heh. Yeah." Devon chuckles
As they sat down together, Harry told Hermione about what he saw during the Dementor attack.
"Hermione?" Harry says
"Yeah?" Hermione says
"Before... down by the lake, when me and Devon were with Sirius... I did see someone. That someone drove off the Dementors." Harry says
"With a Patronus. I heard Snape telling Dumbledore. According to him, only a really powerful wizard could have conjured it." Hermione says
"It was my dad. I saw my dad who conjured the Patronus." Harry says
"But Harry, your-your dad's..." Hermione says
"Dead. I know! I'm just telling you what I saw." Harry says
"There was someone else too besides your dad, Harry. And call me crazy, but... I think it was my dad, too." Devon says
"Your dad? But Devon, isn't he..." Hermione says
"Dead?" Devon says glancing over at Hermione on his left and raising his right-eyebrow
The Keyblade Wielder nodded his head and looked back at the Whomping Willow.
"Yeah. I know. Maybe my mind was just playing tricks on me." Devon says
The young teen's eyes glances down for a moment, slightly sad as he thought about his father, Ducar.
"But still... if he was alive." Devon says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione look up and they saw their past selves return from the Shrieking Shack, emerging from the base of the Whomping Willow.
"Okay. Looks like we're coming out." Devon says
The Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch rise up to their feet and they look over to the left where they saw the other Devon and Harry standing with Sirius.
"You see Sirius talking to me right there?" Harry says
"Mm-hmm." Hermione says
"He's asking me to come live with him." Harry says
"That's great." Hermione says
"When we free him, I'll never have to go back to the Dursley's. It'll just be me and him. We could live in the country, someplace you can see the sky. I think he'll like that, after all those years in Azkaban." Harry says
"I'm sure he will." Devon says
Soon, the full moon appeared in the night sky, and the trio watched Lupin's transformation into a Werewolf, Pettigrew's escape, and the chaos that followed.
"Harry! Devon!" Past Hermione exclaims
"Awoooooooooooo!" Lupin howls
"Run! Run!" Sirius yells
"And the chaos begins." Devon says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione watched as Lupin attacks with his claws, swiping his right-hand at Devon, who summoned Soul Calibur into his right-hand and formed a protective barrier infront of him with his Reflega spell, shielding himself from the claws of the Werewolf as they cut across with a loud scraping noise. Lupin roars angrily and goes to strike the other Devon again with his claws raising his left-hand until Sirius, in his dog form, jumps in and saves him, tackling into the monstrous creature from the left. The trio watched the violent fight between Sirius and Lupin until they ran around the side of the hill.
"Come on!" Devon says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione followed the other Devon and Harry as they went around to help Sirius, who by that time was thrown against the large rock by the Werewolf.
"No!" Past Devon yells
The other Devon hurls Soul Calibur at Lupin, striking him in the back of the head. The monstrous creature yelps in pain and turns around to his left, letting out an angry roar at the Keyblade Wielder. Soul Calibur returns to the other Devon's hand and he holds his crystal Keyblade with both hands infront of him as he faced the Werewolf.
"Come on, Lupin! Don't make me do this!" Past Devon says
Lupin charges toward the other Devon and Harry and raises his right-hand to strike them when Hermione puts her hands to her mouth and howls loudly like a Werewolf.
"Awooooo!" Hermione howls
Harry immediately covers her mouth with his left-hand, silencing her howling.
"Hermione! Are you crazy?!" Devon asks
"What are you doing?!" Harry asks
"Saving your lives." Hermione says
Putting her hands back to her mouth, Hermione lets out a longer howl.
"Awoooooooo!" Hermione howls
The young witch's howls managed to distract the Werewolf as he and the other Devon and Harry looked over in their direction.
"Thanks." Harry says
Just as he did before in the past, Lupin drops down on all fours and runs down the hill, heading straight towards the trio, much to their horror.
"Great! Now, he's coming for us." Harry says
"Yeah, I didn't think about that." Hermione says
"Run!" Devon exclaims
Turning around, Devon, Harry, and Hermione head into the Forbidden Forest, running as fast as they could to elude the Werewolf. They weave past the thick, tall trees, jump over a log or two, and move up and down small hills. Behind them, Lupin was closing in, viciously snarling. Harry trips and falls over on a root, but Devon and Hermione help him up to his feet, then they hide behind a tree pushing their backs against the bark as Lupin comes and stops, rising up on two legs. The Werewolf looks around the area, panting, growling, and snarling as he searched for the one responsible for the howls he heard moments ago. He sniffed the air a few times to pick up a scent, then drops down on all fours as he moves closer towards the tree that the trio were hiding behind. Devon, Harry, and Hermione moved around the tree to the left as Lupin continued to look around, giving off a low growl and a snarl. He soon gives up on the hunt, letting out a howl at the full moon overhead.
"Awooooooooo!" Lupin howls
Believing that the danger had passed, Devon, Harry, and Hermione move around the tree and backed away, panting sighs of relief.
"Whew! Ah... Okay... I think he's gone. We're safe." Devon sighs panting for breath
Unfortunately, the Keyblade Wielder couldn't be more wrong. Although the trio thought Lupin had left, he actually didn't as he walked out from the left a little ways behind them on all fours. The Werewolf set his deadly gaze on the three teens and he growled menacingly. Devon, Harry, and Hermione froze when they heard the growls of the monstrous creature and they slowly turned to their left to face him. Hermione gasped and Devon and Harry's eyes widened.
"Oh, shoot." Devon says
The Werewolf slowly starts to rise up on his hind legs and snarls viciously as he approaches the trio. Devon looks over at Harry and Hermione on his right, seeing the terrified faces, then looks back at Lupin again, narrowing his eyes as he put on a courageous expression. Immediately moving infront of Harry and Hermione, Devon stretches out his right-hand and summons his crystal Keyblade: Soul Calibur in a flash of blue light, swinging it over to his side as prepared to defend his friends from the monstrous beast. Lupin charges at the trio, raising his left-hand to strike, but Devon pulls his left-hand back, clenching it into a fist, then thrusts his open palm forward, hurling the Werewolf back several feet away with a telekinetic blast. Lupin slides across the ground on all fours until he comes to a stop, snarling angrily and bearing his teeth as he glances up at the Keyblade Wielder.
"Sorry, Lupin." Devon apologizes
Aiming his crystal Keyblade at the Werewolf, Devon uses a Firaga spell and launches a large fireball straight towards the humanoid beast. Standing on all fours, Lupin leaps over to the left, dodging the fireball as it shoots past him, then rises back up on two feet and charges at the young teen with a snarl. Closing distance in three seconds, the Werewolf takes a swipe at the Keyblade Wielder with his claws, swinging both hands left and right. Devon leans his body away as he moves back, dodging the sharp claws which miss his face and neck by inches, then counters the attack with a downward and uppercut slash to Lupin's head and right slash across face, causing the Werewolf to stagger backwards with three steps. Lupin snarls angrily and continues lashing out at Devon with his claws. The young teen leans back twice and counters with a cartwheel kick to the Werewolf's head, ducks down to evade a third swipe of Lupin's right-hand and counters with an uppercut slash to his chin, then jumps back in dodging the fourth swipe and drives Soul Calibur into the ground with a downward thrust and a front flip, unleashing a burst of blue light that knocks the humanoid beast back a few feet.
The Werewolf roared out in anger and jumped towards Devon with his hands drawn back. He swipes both his claws at Devon with a leaping strike, but misses him as the young teen evades the attack with a leaping somersault, jumping up and countering with a kick to the head from the right-heel of his foot. He then follows up with a right slash from Soul Calibur to Lupin's face, a high roundhouse kick from Devon's right-foot that strikes the other side of Lupin's face, a leaping double backflip slash that hits under the chin again, a diving left-kick to the Werewolf's head, and a reverse roundhouse slash that strikes Lupin in the chest and sent him staggering backwards in six steps. Yelping in pain, Lupin falls down on all fours and shook his head four times, recovering from the blows he received, then he glares at Devon with a murderous look in his green eyes, snarling and growling menacingly. Before the Keyblade Wielder could react, the Werewolf tackles him to the ground, smashing into him full bore and knocking Soul Calibur out of his grip in the process. He then attempts to bite Devon with his four sharp fangs while Harry and Hermione's eyes widened in horror.
"Devon!" Hermione exclaims
Laying on his back, Devon grabs Lupin by his neck using both hands to hold him back and keep his teeth away, knowing well enough that a single bite will turn him into a Werewolf too. He moved his head from side to side three times, grunting as he avoided Lupin's teeth which went for his neck. Each time he moved his head away, the fangs of the Werewolf got more and more closer to biting him.
"Gnh! Ngh! Get off me, Lupin!" Devon grunts
Eventually, Devon kicked the humanoid creature off him with both legs in the torso before quickly rolling over to the right to grab his crystal Keyblade and rising up onto his feet. Snarling viciously, Lupin charges at the young teen and swipes his right-hand at him. Devon leaps up and over the Werewolf with a full twist flip and lands behind him, turning around and delivering a right slash to Lupin's back, who yelped from the blow. Turning around, Lupin goes to strike Devon with his left-hand, but he slides to the right around the Werewolf, leaning his body away as he evaded the sharp claws, and delivered another blow to his back, hitting him with a left side kick using his right-foot. Having had enough, the Werewolf reaches out with his hands out and grabs the young teen by his arms.
"Uh-oh!" Devon says
Lifting him up by his arms, Lupin turns and throws Devon, sending him flying through the air and rolling across the ground, eventually stopping on his right-side near Harry and Hermione. The Keyblade Wielder pushes himself up and gasps when he saw the monstrous Werewolf approaching them and slowly raising his left-hand to strike.
But before Lupin could attack them, Buckbeak jumps into action and stands infront of Devon, Harry, and Hermione, coming to their aid. The Hippogriff rears up on his hind legs, kicks his front legs, and flaps his wings, bellowing and cawing loudly at the Werewolf. He strikes Lupin with a strong blow from his right-foreleg, scratching the right-side of his face. The Werewolf staggers back a bit from the blow and snarls, but Buckbeak rises up even higher on his hind legs, kicking his eagle-like feet and flapping his wings. Lupin soon runs away on all fours, retreating deeper into the Forbidden Forest, yelping in fright. Buckbeak drops back down and lets out one last bellowing roar before looking back at the trio.
"That was really scary." Hermione says
"Poor Professor Lupin's having a really tough night." Harry says
"Oh, yeah. Definitely." Devon says
Grunting a bit, Devon sits up and rises onto his feet, then walks over to the Hippogriff, rubbing his head and patting him three times with his left-hand. Buckbeak gave off a low grunt, feeling content with the Keyblade Wielder's touch.
"Good boy, Buckbeak. Thanks for saving our skins. Heh. I guess we're now even." Devon says
Suddenly, the winds began to pick up with leaves rustling on the ground and the air grew colder. Devon, Harry, and Hermione looked up into the moonlit sky and they saw dozens of Dementors flying overhead. Already, they knew what was happening.
"Sirius." Harry says
"Come on!" Devon says
Following the Dementors, Devon, Harry, and Hermione climb up the nearby hill behind them and race to the lake while Buckbeak stayed behind.
Soon, the Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch arrive on the scene, running down a hill and stopping around the left-side of a tree on the opposite side of the lake, watching as the Dementor attack unfolded before them with one of the soul-sucking creatures descending down and attacking the other Harry with its Kiss.
"Aaaaaaaaaaah!" Past Harry screams
The other Harry fell down onto his knees, doubling over Sirius' body, while the other Devon stared in shock.
"Harry!" Past Devon exclaims
Then, another Dementor flew up to the other Devon and sucked on his soul with its breath for six seconds.
"Gaah! Aaaaah!" Past Devon groans
And just like the other Harry, the other Devon fell and collapsed on all fours. On the far side of the lake, Hermione watched in horror.
"This is horrible." Hermione says
"Don't worry. My dad will come. He'll conjure the Patronus." Harry says
"Yeah! And so will my dad! They'll send the Dementors away!" Devon says
The trio watched as two Dementors fly down across the lake and attacked the other Devon and Harry, draining more of their souls while they groaned and gasped.
"Any minute now! Right there! You'll see!" Harry says pointing to the exact spot on the bank of the lake with his right-hand
"Harry, listen to me. No one's coming." Hermione says
"Don't worry! They will! They will come!" Harry says
Devon, Harry, and Hermione continued to observe the horrific attack as one of the Dementors hovered over Sirius, giving him the soul-sucking Kiss while he gurgled and groaned until the small, glowing, white-blue dot that was Sirius' soul appears rising out of his mouth.
"Sirius...?" Past Harry says
"You're dying... All three of you." Hermione says
Devon and Harry didn't understand. This was the moment when the Patronus was conjured by their fathers. If that was true, then where were they? Something had to be done, or else their past selves would die alongside Sirius. The Keyblade Wielder stared at the scene unfolding before him, then glanced down at his right-hand. He knew that he couldn't allow himself to be seen, but if he stood by and did nothing, then his other self would die and he would cease to exist. Looking over at Harry on his right, he could tell that he was thinking the same thing. They stared at each other for at least four seconds until brave expressions formed on their faces and they nodded their heads, knowing what they had to do. Gripping his right-hand into a fist, Devon summoned Soul Calibur in its Crystal Wand Form, Harry took out his wand, and the two heroes ran further out onto the bank, while Hermione watched them in surprise.
"Harry! Devon!" Hermione exclaims
Running out to the edge of the lake, Devon and Harry both stopped and held out their wands, shouting the incantation of the Patronus Charm at the top of their lungs.
"Expecto Patronum!" Devon and Harry chant in unison
A bright light shined from the tips of their wands and the Patronuses were conjured, emerging before their casters in full-fledged, corporeal form as wispy, airy, dazzling, translucent, silver-blue animals, the same exact ones that Devon and Harry saw before. A stag, which stood proudly, and a large, four-legged dragon, which also stood tall and proud, spreading its wings and unleashing a loud, mighty roar. These were their Patronus forms. The stag being Harry's, and the dragon being Devon's. Within moments, the two animals shined brightly with their benevolence and they sent massive, powerful waves of light far and wide across the entire area with a deep, reverberating, whooshing hum against the hundreds of Dementors, driving them off and causing them to fly away shrieking and screeching with their distorted voices. Devon and Harry were both panting and grunting as they maintained the spell for a good long while, projecting wave after wave against the soul-sucking creatures. Soon, on the tenth wave, the Dementors were all gone, and the immense light from the Patronuses began to recede and diminish just as the other Devon and Harry lost consciousness, falling onto the ground next to Sirius.
The Keyblade Wielder and wizard boy lowered their wands and panted to catch their breath. Devon de-summoned Soul Calibur and placed his hand on Harry's shoulder. Both of them smiled at their triumph. They had done it. They had saved Sirius Black and themselves from losing their souls to the Dementors.
After thwarting the Dementor attack, Devon, Harry, and Hermione flew across the night sky on Buckbeak as they went to rescue Sirius, who was now imprisoned in the Dark Tower. Devon sat at the front of the Hippogriff, holding onto his chain leash like reins, while Harry wrapped his arms around him, and Hermione wrapping her arms around the wizard boy. During their flight, the trio came to realize what really happened down by the lake.
"You were right, Hermione. It wasn't my dad or Devon's. It was us. We saw ourselves conjuring the Patronus before." Harry says
"So much for not being seen, huh?! Heh heh heh!" Devon chuckles glancing back over his right-shoulder
"I knew we could do it this time, because... well, we'd already done it. Does that make sense?" Harry says
"No! But I don't like fly..." Hermione says
Hermione didn't get to finish as Buckbeak dives down towards Hogwarts Castle, causing her to scream while Harry hollers out in excitement.
"Whoo-hoo!" Harry hollers
Landing on the Dark Tower, Devon, Harry, and Hermione dismount Buckbeak and approach a solitary cell. Inside was Sirius Black, who sat in the back left corner. He looked over at his right, noticing the trio as they arrived on the tower. Hermione took out her wand and pointed it at the iron bar door, casting a spell.
"Bombarda!" Hermione chants
The cell door is blasted open and Devon and Harry rush inside to help the ragged man, who was surprised by their appearance.
"Devon? Harry?" Sirius says
"No time to explain, Sirius! Let's go! We're getting you out of here!" Devon says
Climbing back onto Buckbeak, the trio and Sirius took off from the tower and fly across the sky. Sirius, who was now sitting between Hermione and Harry, laughed and whooped as he enjoyed his freedom once more. They descend back down towards the castle and land in the Clock Tower Courtyard.
Down in the courtyard, Devon, Harry, and Hermione hide away inside the nearby gazebo as Sirius expresses his thanks to his saviors while Buckbeak stood nearby, cawing and grunting softly.
"I'll be forever grateful for this. To all three of you." Sirius says
"Always happy to help an innocent man break out of prison." Devon says with a right thumbs up
"I want to go with you." Harry says
"One day, perhaps. For some time, my life will be too unpredictable. And besides..." Sirius says
Sirius places his hands on his godson's shoulders.
"...you're meant to be here." Sirius says
"But you're innocent." Harry says
"And you know it. And for now, that'll do." Sirius says
Harry sat down on a stone bench behind him, lowering down with Sirius, while Devon stood on his left, and Hermione went over to Buckbeak as they shared their moment of contemplation. Harry knew at this point his relationship with his godfather was now sadly fraught and his dreams of living with him were shattered. Sirius saw the sad look in his face, and he offered him comfort.
"I expect you're tired of hearing this... but you look so much like your father. Except your eyes. You have..." Sirius says
"My mother's eyes." Harry says
Devon, Harry, and Sirius chuckled.
"It's cruel that I got to spend so much time with James and Lily and you so little. But know this... the ones that love us never really leave us. And you can always find them..." Sirius says
The ragged man places his left-hand on Harry's chest, right where his heart was.
"...in here." Sirius says
Harry looks down at his chest, then looks up at Sirius with a smile on his face. Devon walks over to Sirius and places his left-hand on his shoulder.
"Alright, come on, Sirius. You better clear out of here while you still can." Devon says
Sirius nods his head in agreement and walks over towards Buckbeak with Devon and Harry. He climbs up onto the Hippogriff's back and grabs the chains with his hands, then looks down at the three teens, looking at Hermione specifically.
"You really are the brightest witch of your age." Sirius says
Hermione smiles and steps back as Devon steps forward, extending his right-hand up to Sirius and shaking his hand.
"Good luck, Sirius. I hope we can meet again someday." Devon says
"Thanks. I look forward to our next meeting. And good luck to you too... Keyblade Master." Sirius says with a smile
Devon nods his head and steps back with Harry and Hermione as Sirius was now ready for his flight to freedom. Sirius pulls back on the chains and Buckbeak rises up on his hind legs, letting out a reverberating call. The Hippogriff then runs across the courtyard and flaps his wings, taking off into air with his rider. The Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch watched as Sirius and Buckbeak disappeared into the night sky when they heard the tolling bell of the clock tower.
"We have to go!" Hermione says
Remembering that they had to get back before the last chime of the bell toll, Devon, Harry, and Hermione ran into the clock tower and head up the stairs. Reaching the top, they run down the long corridor and make it back just as Dumbledore leaves, only mere seconds after last seeing the trio. Devon, Harry, and Hermione stop infront of the Headmaster as he closes the doors and turns to face them as they report the success of their rescue mission.
"Well?" Dumbledore says
"It's done. Buckbeak's safe, and so is Sirius." Devon says
"They're free. We did it." Harry says
"Did what? Good night." Dumbledore says
The Headmaster winks his right-eye and descends down a small staircase as he takes his leave for the night. Devon, Harry, and Hermione shared confused glances with one another, then open the doors and walk into the hospital wing just as their other selves activate the Time-Turner, fading away and traveling back in time. Ron saw his friends as they entered and was utterly confused as to what just happened.
"Harry? Hermione? Devon? How did you get there? You were... I was talking to you there. And now you're there." Ron asks pointing at where his friends stood now and where their other selves once were with his right-hand
Devon, Harry, and Hermione turned and looked at each other, feigning the same ignorance as Dumbledore, before looking back at Ron.
"What's he talking about, boys?" Hermione asks with a smile
"Hmm... I don't know." Devon says crossing his arms with a smile
"Honestly, Ron, how can somebody be in two places at once?" Harry says shrugging his shoulders
The Keyblade Wielder, wizard boy, and young witch all chuckled while Ron continued to stare at his friends in confusion.
Author's Note: Time to go save some lives! Devon, Harry, and Hermione travel back to the past using Hermione's secret tool, a Time-Turner, and embark on a rescue mission to save Buckbeak and Sirius Black from their dates with death. First, they save Buckbeak from the Executioner's axe, and he returns the favor by saving them from Werewolf Lupin. Then, Devon and Harry save themselves and Sirius from the Dementors with their Patronus Charms. Sirius is still a wanted fugitive, but that's okay since we all know the truth. And now, it's time to wrap up Devon's journey in the Wizarding World, which will now awaken back into the Realm of Light with the sealing of the sleeping keyhole. To Arika Koski 2022, I believe I may have already answered your questions before, but here's a refresh. 1: Roxas will be coming back along with Draxon in the KH III storyline. 2: If this was a film, it would be rated PG-13. And 3: You don't have to get so excited just because you don't get an answer. Besides, how can you expect an answer when I can't even send a reply to a guest (You) through a PM. To EvaKnight89 (guest), thank you for your support. To anonymous(guest), LightHeart armor? I don't think so. The list of Dream Eaters you gave me were good, but only the Wrendigo and Umbraconda seemed interesting enough. I'm also fully aware that Luna, Devon's Night Fury shares the same name as Luna Lovegood. I already have a plan to deal with that, but we're a long ways from that. Still, I'm open to any suggestions. And to D-Dawg (guest), the reviews I've seen from you so far are becoming way too repetitive. Could you perhaps post some different ones please? Thank you. Let me know what you guys think. No flames please. Hope you guys like and don't forget to review!
