This is an MHA/Okami cross. Enjoy!

The gods had a problem. Ever since the appearance of quirks, faith in them had dwindled to dangerously low levels. The problem was that they couldn't just appear and convince humans to worship them again...direct action was forbidden for good reasons.

Mostly because after a certain point, humans couldn't handle the true form of a god without really bad consequences (most of them fatal or permanent in the worst ways)...which put a major damper on their ability to act in the realm of the mortals.

However, that only limited full gods. Their children (or adopted children in some cases) were not as limited.

To that end, Amaterasu looked through the limited followers that remained, and found one that was suitable for their purpose. The woman was praying for a child anyway, so this would reaffirm her belief in their pantheon.

Nine months later, Izuku Midoriya was born.

The sound of small feet could be heard. It was swiftly followed by the sounds of battle.

The feet skidding around the corner revealing...a small puppy with strange red markings on it's white fur?

"You almost have him, Chibi! One more attack and that thing is finished!" cheered a tiny insect-like creature on the puppy's head.

His name was Isshun, the Celestial Envoy. In exchange for guiding the puppy until he learned the ropes, he would be granted full access into the Celestial Realms.

Isshun really wanted to see his former partner Ammy, aka Amaterasu again.

Chibi attacked the demonic beast again. This would be his fifth time doing so, and he was a lot better than before.

The creature screeched, dissipating to reveal...a human?

The newly revealed person looked towards the puppy with a respectful bow.

"Many thanks for freeing me of my darkness, oh divine one. I shall return to my family with renewed faith," said the human, before vanishing back into the collective ether.

Nippon was a strange realm which existed between the realm of the mortals and the Celestial Plains where the gods lived. Only certain people could access it, and it was infested with demonic energies that manifested as 'beasts'. The source was humanity's lack of proper faith in the gods, and the fact they were putting all their faith into a pseudo-god like All Might.

It wasn't technically All Might's fault things had come to this... he couldn't have anticipated that giving the humans a symbol to worship would cause this mess to get out of control, or the faith in the actual gods to dwindle in favor of a human.

Either way, Izuku or "Chibi" as Isshun called him, was stuck cleaning up the mess.

Isshun looked pleased.

"Way to go Chibi! That's another human who's faith in the gods have been restored! You're really getting the hang of this!"

Chibi barked happily. While he couldn't act in the human world, at least here he could do good and be useful.

It wasn't his fault that his actual quirk was too weak to manifest in the realm of the humans. His divine powers required faith to use, and the human realm simply didn't have enough of it anymore. And while it had sucked he was stuck in his divine wolf form, he had taken the good with the bad and learned to roll with it.

He just wished he could deal with the bigger demons, because getting rid of them would do a lot more than dealing with the small fry he was stuck with at the moment.

"You are almost ready to face one of the bigger clusters of demonic energy. However you might need a partner," said Isshun.

Chibi looked at Isshun and barked.

"I'm a guide, not a partner. I'm not much use in a fight," explained Isshun.

Chibi barked sadly.

One month later...

Chibi was feeling frustrated and it was little wonder why. No matter how many times he attacked this particular cluster of demonic energy, it kept coming back. Clearly there was a source that he would need to deal with, but he couldn't find it!

Just as he was about to give up, he heard crying.

To understand his confusion, you had to understand the fact that outside the clusters of demonic energy, Chibi and Isshun, the place was empty. The entire place was meant to be a training ground slash arena for Chibi to learn about his divine powers and grow into a hero who could bring people back to the gods. Humans weren't supposed to be there.

Chibi followed the crying. He found a luminescent child with two-toned hair curled up looking very upset.

More concerning was the fact that he could see the same demonic energy that he had been trying to get rid of for weeks now clustered around them. It was in the shape of someone who felt like he should know them, even if it wasn't on a personal level.

"That's a nasty piece of work," commented Isshun. "That human appears to be the source of the clusters we've been trying to get rid of...either that or it's a manifestation of someone causing that child suffering and it's causing this mess."

Chibi barked questioningly.

"We need more information. Whoever or whatever that is, we would need to find out what is going on and why it's causing the child to generate so much negative energy. If we do, then dealing with it would cause a massive boost in divine energy...maybe enough that you could talk properly in that form, or use a new Celestial Brush technique!"

Chibi barked, tail wagging. It was annoying that he couldn't talk properly to Isshun, and that the Envoy had to rely on years of experience translating his divine mother's unofficial 'speech' in this form.

In the mortal realms...

It took all of five minutes for Izuku to track down the figure. The problem was that the figure was a little too well known to go after directly.

While he couldn't use his powers as Chibi in the human world, he could still take the form. The problem was that it was a one off, generally so he could transition to the other world more easily without drawing attention to himself. He would be stuck like that for a few hours at least.

Chibi managed to track down where Endeavor's home was, and within seconds he found the child.

It took even less time for Isshun (who was invisible) to ascertain what the root cause of the demonic energy was. The real trick was how to fix things before it escalated out of control. The wife was clearly suffering a great deal of hardship, and the negative energy was almost at the stage it could make her do something truly regrettable in the long run.

This was a mess and a half.

Chibi made his way back into Nippon.

"Oh boy... seems like the father is forcibly making the younger one train their ability to make himself look better...and he treats his family like scum because they aren't considered human to him," said Isshun.

Chibi barked angrily.

"The real problem is that as a 'hero', we can't act openly...he has too many connections to deal with directly."

Fortunately, there were other options.

Chibi went to the divine mirror that acted as a way to communicate with his divine mother, Amaterasu. He could see the celestial hall where she held court, and she was waiting.

"We cannot act openly in this matter. It must be handled delicately, lest more darkness spread throughout Nippon. Chibi, We leave you to come up with a solution that would solve this."

Chibi barked, his tail wagging like crazy. This was a big job!

Izuku was facing a dilemma. How was he supposed to remove Endeavor from the equation without permanently removing him? It was pretty obvious the solution was to make him spend long periods of time away from the family, just not without destroying his reputation as a hero or causing a ripple effect on the other pro heroes.

So he went back to his default method of unwinding. Learning more about the pseudo-god that had a high chance of ascending to the divine realms once he died...All Might. His human mother might mistake it for an extreme case of being a fan boy, but that was alright because it was a harmless hobby.

As Izuku scanned the random articles out of boredom, he spotted something.

"That's it!" he said to himself.

This was the perfect way to not only get rid of Endeavor for long stretches of time, but it also kept him from wanting to return because staying away pandered to his overbearing ego!

The problem was that he couldn't pull this off directly. He didn't have the ability and it would look suspicious to the humans if Endeavor suddenly got an invitation from a child.

Fortunately he had some help. His divine parent made it clear that the gods would assist him, so long as he could make it look to the family (not including Endeavor) that their prayers to the gods had been answered. He just had to set things up and explain his plan to Amaterasu and the others.

The first chance he had, he made a beeline to the mirror where he could explain his plan.

"So you wish to extend an invitation to this man, so that he would leave his family behind willingly in exchange for a perceived boost to his reputation?"asked Amaterasu.

Chibi nodded. While he was limited to barking in this form, his divine parent understood him anyway.

Amaterasu looked more amused than anything.

Izuku's plan was brilliant in it's simplicity. What Endeavor craved was acknowledgment and a higher reputation to his 'rival' All Might. However he would not accept an invitation to just any group, and it would take someone special to make it seem like his reputation was being boosted above the Symbol of Peace.

The group also had to be exclusive enough that Endeavor had to leave his family behind willingly, and not attempt to simply bring them with him to another location.

Izuku's research had stumbled across one such group, but there was a little known fact about it that most were unaware of.

All Might was a founding member of the group, not that he advertised the fact. He didn't need to, with how high his reputation was, and he rightly worried that doing so would outshine the actual members or draw in the wrong sort of applicants.

It was a subtle way to punish Endeavor for his ego. While his reputation would be boosted, he would be forced to stay with them to the end of his contract. Otherwise he would lose a large chunk of his reputation instead that he couldn't earn back later...and that was something he would refuse to do.

In the meantime his family would be safe from his tyranny, and if necessary they could subtly open up an investigation on the pro hero that would remove his 'wife' and children from his influence.

Depending on how far the abuse went, Amaterasu had no issue influencing matters to instigate such a thing. If there was one thing she prized, it was children.

Now the tricky part...getting someone from the family to pray for aid in order to set the ball rolling.

Sakura didn't really believe in the gods. Sure, her family paid lip service to them on major holidays, but everyone knew that the gods were a holdover from before quirks existed. It wasn't like they were real.

Even so, things had become increasingly worse in her home. Her mother was deteriorating to the point even a child like her could tell something had to give.

The phone conversation with her grandmother that she only heard half off made that pretty clear.

So when they went to pay respects to Amaterasu, the Sun Goddess, Sakura made a half-hearted prayer that something would change. That her father would go away and things might get better.

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw what she thought was a small puppy watching her. After she made her prayer, the puppy's tail started wagging like crazy.

A week later, Endeavor came home in a better mood than normal.

"Did something happen?" her older brother Touya asked dismissively. He hated their father and made no bones about it.

"I received an invitation to the infamous hero group known only as 'SHIELD'. They want me to be a key member in their attack force against major international villains."

Sakura was impressed despite herself. Everyone knew of SHIELD, and being made a member at all was a major boost to a hero's reputation among the public. Being a key member in a highly visible position was an even bigger matter.

"What about us?" asked her mother Rei, timidly. "We can't just uproot the children."

"The invitation is for me only. You'll have to stay here," said Endeavor dismissively. The letter had made it clear that only he was allowed on the exclusive island for the members, and his family would have to remain in Japan where his Hero Agency could protect them. Suddenly moving as many people as he had in his immediate family would draw too much attention to them.

However Sakura couldn't help but think that maybe her prayer to be rid of her father had something to do with this.

Were the gods...real?

Endeavor accepted immediately...after all, this was something even All Might hadn't accomplished despite all his good work. SHIELD only accepted the best of the best of heroes.

Sakura, however, kept quiet and waited for him to leave. She remembered that odd puppy at the shrine.

In Nippon...

Chibi was pleased with himself. Thanks to their work, the negative clusters had gotten a lot weaker than before. If he kept working at them, the majority of the darkness would disappear completely before long. A certain level of negativity was necessary in the world, but the amount Endeavor had been causing was excessive.

He was about to go deal with a new cluster when he sensed his divine mother's amusement at his expense.

So you could imagine his surprise when he saw the child in Nippon, looking very confused.

"Where is this place?"

"This is Nippon! The realm that exists as the boundary of between the world of the gods and the humans!" Chibi barked.

"I...understood that. Why can I understand that?"

Chibi's tail was wagging like crazy.

"When I sent that man away, it caused the level of faith in the gods to go up. That means I gained enough power to speak without randomly barking like crazy."

"You sent that man away?" said Sakura intently.

"He was causing way too much negative energy to gather in Nippon. It was causing demonic clusters to form, and when it gets too strong, really bad things happen to good people. It causes faith in the gods to drop at a faster rate, making things spiral out of control. He's too important and well connected to get rid of permanently, so we settled on making him leave for a really long time," explained Chibi.

"Thank you," said Sakura with feeling.

With Endeavor gone, her mother was a bit happier and a little more optimistic.

On the plus side, Chibi had a new partner. Even if her family gave her odd looks for insisting on wearing a traditional Miko outfit.

If praying to Amaterasu kept Endeavor away, then Sakura was going to be a devout follower for life.
