Miku looked at the skinny figure on the bed, hooked up to a disturbing number of machines. The worst part was that she knew this was her body.

Dr. Hikari was rather patient. He understood how hard this was to take. The good news was that there was still brain activity...more than enough to suggest that while she was in a coma, her mind was still receiving some form of communication with the part of her that was trapped.

The only downside was that she would undoubtedly need physical therapy by the end of it...this was going to take months, at the minimum, and that meant her body would deteriorate even with them moving it occasionally to keep circulation up.

"Dr. Hikari, we're ready for the scan," said the assistant.

"Understood. Miku, head to the page please."

"Okay!" she chirped, trying to keep a bright face.

She stepped onto the designated platform, and was glad they thought to program a chair into it as well. So long as she didn't leave the area she was free to move around a little bit.

"Scan in progress...this data is amazing!"

"Remember, our primary focus at the moment is to restore her to her body. We can research the data later," said Dr. Hikari.

"I know, but just a fragment of this will be enough to revolutionize the Navi programs we have now!"

"Yeah, but look at the memory size...talk about ridiculous, we'd have to overhaul the next gen PET's RAM just to run half this!" said her friend.

"What about hers?" asked the assistant.

"Completely fried," said her friend. Apparently whatever caused this wiped the memory clean. It's barely more than a paperweight."

"Considering everything, she would likely need a customized one," said Dr. Hikari.

With all the data they were getting from her accident, it was likely Blaze Tech would give her a personalized one to better handle Miku's data.

"What's with this battlechip folder?" asked the assistant.

"Well it's not like I can add battlechips from my PET! Those are mostly what I've been able to scrape together from virus busting...the higher level ones are ridiculously expensive," said Miku annoyed.

"Yeah, but it's so basic it's almost painful to look at," said the Assistant's friend.

It was then that Chaud came in.

"What's the prognosis?"

"Her body is in decent condition, but the data file is far too large," said Dr. Hikari. "It looks like she merged with her original Navi."

Chaud narrowed his eyes at the man.

"What about her ability to hack into that special page or access the recovery program?"

"I suspect, though I can't confirm at the moment, that the reason the data is so large is because there are two Navi's present in one file," said Dr. Hikari slowly.

"How is that possible?" asked the assistant.

"Megaman was a special program I designed myself. It had a certain...adaptability...matrix installed. It's possible his data is still present in Miku."

Chaud thought about the program she accidentally installed.

"The program she stole wouldn't account for such a large program file...and it's primary purpose was to allow the Navi to adapt to higher level programs to better handle them. The problem was that none of the Navi's who attempted to download it could install it, as there was a compatibility error."

"Scan completed sir. Okay Mi-chan, you can leave the area now!" chirped the assistant.

"Okay!" she replied.

"So what are you here for?" asked Dr. Hikari.

"Since she still has our property, I've been sent here to offer her a deal," said Chaud.

"What sort of deal?"

"You help us test drive the program and work under me solving problems in the net and in exchange we'll allow you to keep the program," said Chaud.

Miku blinked.

"That's it?"

"The probationary period is going to be at least six months, or until you are restored to your body," said Chaud.

"I hope you realize she is under our care," said Dr. Hikari pointedly.

"I don't have a problem with the offer, Dr. Hikari. I'd be more than happy to help, even if it was that stupid DynoRoar's fault I was in that area to begin with. And I did steal one of their programs after all," said Miku.

"DynoRoar?" said Chaud.

Miku had an annoyed and highly disgusted look on her face.

"Bakugo's stupid Navi. I don't know if he has that thing set to chase me around whenever I enter the same page as him or if it just finds attacking my Navi fun. He noticed me while I was shopping for healing programs and started coming after me...it was pure luck I managed to find that opening at all," she scowled.

Chaud made a note to find out who this...Navi...was. He had the feeling it would only create headaches for him if he didn't.

"I will warn you now I'm only passable at net battling. Thanks to Bakugo and his stupid Navi I never really had the chance to develop a knack for it," said Miku.

"We can work on that later," said Chaud. At least she wasn't pointlessly bragging about her ability.

"Jack in, Protoman, Execute!"

As Protoman entered the net, Miku shut Chaud an odd look.

"Why does everyone do that? Shout Jack in, I mean," she asked. "It's as ridiculous as announcing your next attack in a game."

Chaud honestly didn't know why he did it.

"It feels appropriate, I guess?" he said after a moment. "In any case we should find out what your Navi specializes in."

Miku and Protoman went deeper into the net. For obvious reasons Miku didn't like straying from the more populated areas.

Seeing some viruses, it was obvious Chaud wanted to see how she fought.

What he saw had him somewhat in disbelief. She had a lot of skill analyzing her opponents, but her chip selection was terrible and her ability to use them properly was rather sub-par. She mostly relied on her sonic blaster to defeat them. And the less said about her skill with a sword, the better.

"We really need to update your battle skills," he said.

"I'd like to see you develop a proper skill set when you have a jerk who constantly 'borrows' your PET and forces your Navi to fight their personalized one," said Miku incensed. "Besides, I've been spending most of my virus-busting money on healing chips, not battle chips."

"What sort of chips do you have?" he asked. He almost regretted it, seeing how sparse and weak it was. "So our first priority is to update your chip folder and train you in how to use them. Otherwise we'll never get any decent data on that program."

Once she had some decent chips, the change was obvious. Sure it took her a few hours to figure out how to use them thanks to some mock battles with Protoman, but it was clear she did have a head for fighting.

There was one thing though...

"Why does the orb data change when you played music?"asked Chaud.

"Dunno. I only figured out how to use my blaster by channeling music through it by accident, and it was lucky I only had those helmeted pests to deal with at the time," said Miku. "The strength varies on song, and some genres don't really give a decent blast at all."

"How is your health doing?"

"Those chips you gave made a major difference. I normally avoid net battling because I could barely make a dent, and the health chips are helping a lot. Though...my stamina bar is pretty low," said Miku.

"Stamina bar?"

Miku sent him a copy of her stats. Immediately he saw three bars in different colors...one was red for health, blue for her charge gauge for her chip folder...and there was a third, unknown one in teal green. It was the lowest of them all, as the other two were relatively full.

"See the more activity I do on the net...like running from Protoman...the more my stamina drops. If it goes down too much, then it eats into my health bar and it takes at least an hour or two for both of them to fill back up," said Miku.

"Let's get you back to the lab," said Chaud.

"Yeah small problem with that... all the standard PET's can't handle my data," said Miku.

"Who said anything about a PET?" said Chaud. "If you can travel the net, then I see no reason this won't work as a measure to get you to and from servers."

He pulled out... a terabyte hard drive?

Considering her data almost took up a full terabyte of memory, he figured this would be enough for her to travel in.

It was beyond weird, downloading herself into the hard drive. It was quiet, dark and really creepy. She had no sense of time or space.

And then she saw a light and uploaded herself onto a computer.

"That was insanely creepy!" she complained.

"But it gives us something to work with," said Chaud. "If you're going to help me and Protoman in our work, we need to be able to move you without waiting for you to bypass security. Logging in directly is our best option."

Miku shivered at that.

A few weeks later, during which she spent most of her time practicing her net battling and improving her chip folder, Chaud returned...this time with a modified PET. It looked suspiciously like the gauntlet on her right arm.

"Try downloading yourself to this," said Chaud.

Miku looked dubious, but followed the link to the modified PET.

It felt really weird. But at least it wasn't a cold, dark place with no exit.

"So what are we doing today?"

"Right now we're testing out the gauntlet," said Chaud. "Since we're still working on something to make you a little more mobile. Hopefully you can log out like a regular Navi if something happens."

Miku was bored. There were no tests scheduled for today and Chaud was busy at his father's work. Normally she read books online or did some practicing, but she wasn't in the mood for that.

So she decided to wander around the net on her own. She was a bit more confident about it now that she had some proper experience and chips to back her up.

She had no idea the sheer chaos she would unintentionally cause.

Several hours later...

Chaud was racing to the crime scene. One of the robots had gone haywire at a store and now it was causing all sorts of havoc.

When he got there, he wasn't expecting this.

The small robotic dog was avoiding all the traps set, and the second it saw him it made a beeline his way.

"Help!"

He knew that voice and immediately gained a headache.

"Miku, what did you do?"

"I was just wandering the net when I found this weird server. Next thing I know I'm in this dog, and the stupid security robots who are attacking me won't give me time to log out!" complained Miku.

"Did you try disabling them?"

"I didn't want to cause trouble for the people who own the store..." said Miku sheepishly.

Chaud sighed. He saw the security teams try to get close to the dog and him.

"It's alright, just a misunderstanding."

"Misunderstanding?" said the toy store owner irate.

Miku nudged his leg with her 'paw'. He looked down at her, and a message flashed on his screen with Protoman's permission. He got the hint.

"A...friend...of mine had a late blooming quirk and it accidentally attached itself to the dog's programming," lied Chaud.

"Do you have any idea how much trouble that friend of yours caused?! Look at my store!"

Miku sat on her haunches and looked openly offended...well, as much as a robotic dog could look offended.

"That damage was caused by your security team! How is it my fault they kept tripping over themselves?" she demanded. "And don't get me started on that Pro Hero...he just made it worse with his quirk!"

"What exactly happened?" Chaud asked.

"Kamui Wood showed up, tried to grab the robot I'm controlling, and his wood knocked over several shelves. It caused some marbles to go everywhere and several of the guards crashed into the shelves, making everything fall over. I know for a fact this place has security cameras."

Chaud's headache was upgraded to a migraine, but a quick check of the security cameras proved she was correct. She had caused no overt damage...most of it was caused by the pro hero being careless and causing the security team to fall into the shelves. And they still hadn't caught her.

He looked at the robot, then at the angry manager.

"I'll pay for the robot she used, but I suggest you go after the idiot who caused the main damage for the mess," he said.

Since the security program was called off, Miku was able to upload herself to the spare gauntlet Chaud had.

In short he was not pleased...but they did find out some valuable information.

The small robot dog she used to get around was swiftly upgraded by Chaud's company, and soon she was able to trot (or skate using the new wheels he added) beside him without him having to carry the bulky device.
