Chapter 4: The journey to the south!

[3 years later, Somewhere in the North]

In the high mountainous region, in the northern part of Ishgar in a cavern at the highest peaks of the mountains, the sounds of several blades clashing were heard. Inside this cavern was a very large area enveloped in a greenish cubical barrier, inside which several familiar-looking blondes were practicing their magic.

These were Naruto's shadow clones who were all trying to do their best attacks with the use of the least amount of magic. The real Naruto however was standing in the center of several clones who were throwing senbons, kunais and some of them even with Amaterasu formulas etched on them.

But the strangest thing was that Naruto had a black cloth wrapped around his eyes and was trying to dodge all the projectiles thrown by his clones.

The sudden sound of whistling caused by metal flying through the air caught his attention. He dodged to the left but several more of these sounds alerted him to the presence of more potential dangers. Some sounds were less noticeable, probably the senbons, but the movement of wind around him caused him to sense them perfectly.

In less than a second, he jumped into the air and threw his kunai at the incoming attack while spinning and releasing them at the perfect timing which caused them to clash. They all were hit with such precision that they changed their direction perfectly and caused all of the other projectiles to fall harmlessly to the ground. He looked satisfied for some time and turned to the entrance of the cave with a smile.

"Great work! Naruto. Now today is the last day I have with you let's not overdo it. I'll return to my world at midnight you should relax for the time being and prepare for your journey as well." Ablaze said with a gentle tone.

In the past years, their relationship had improved greatly. He now viewed him as a grandchild. Naruto practiced everything he taught him until it was perfect. He didn't like how he worked extra hard even though he could use his eyes to analyze the spell and try to recreate it.

He always retorted that it was so that he didn't get too dependent on his ocular powers.

"Oh alright! I'll be at the top of this mountain meditating!" Naruto waved goodbye and went on his way up.

He wasn't much of a talker now. He talked a lot in his childhood, but he was at least conversational with Ablaze. He didn't want to be antisocial, but Ablaze told him he should never give up on finding friends and helping people no matter how they viewed him.

He reached up to the mountain peak and sat down cross-legged in the lotus formation. He slowly breathed steadily but it was difficult due to the lack of oxygen at this altitude. It was the reason Ablaze had him meditate at this spot.

He felt the cold around him trying to invade his body and freeze him. Naruto slowly let his body be enveloped in his inner warmth and used Blaze's magic to maintain his body temperature.

Blaze magic was a lost art only taught by phoenixes and was one of the best fire magic ever. It wasn't as powerful as fire dragon slaying magic and didn't allow him to consume fire to recharge his magic but it was great. He learned that it augmented Ascalon's abilities in the best way. So he decided to learn it and use his kenjutsu skills in tandem with his blaze magic.

As he drifted down towards his thoughts he didn't notice the passing time and midnight approached.

Suddenly the ice around him melted away and it appeared as if the ice was never present there. Ablaze landed beside him and nudged him with his beak.

Naruto slowly opened his eyes and looked distracted for a moment. Then he exhaled loudly and stood up from his spot, as he did so he noticed the midnight hour approaching and frowned with sadness. Although that faded away quickly replaced by a bright smile.

" It is time, Naruto" Ablaze spoke gently and started chanting some spells, so that he could be ready at midnight to take his leave.

Naruto on the other hand silently ordered his clones to dispel, ten at a time. Once that was done he felt his headache a little but quickly recovered. He found out with time that he had great regeneration powers; he guessed that it was due to the demonic energy continuously flowing through his body.

" Well flaming flying chicken, I'll miss you. Don't forget good old me. We will meet once I deal with those conditions you mentioned." Naruto replied with a cheesy smile trying to cover up his sadness.

Ablaze had a tick mark on his head but shook his head and cleared the murderous thoughts he had due to the jab Naruto gave him.

"Be careful and don't reveal my existence to anyone, your enemies know that we affiliate with you." Ablaze told him seriously and slowly his body was covered in golden flames ready to depart.

Naruto ran up to him and hugged his wings trying to remember his scent and warmth. He suspected it would be a long time before he saw him again.

" Don't worry I'll try making friends, I'll also eat a lot of food other than ramen and I won't be reckless too. You just relax and have some flaming whiskey, alright!" Naruto laughed cheerfully but some tears spilled out from the corner of his eyes.

Ablaze smiled fondly for the last time and after a flaming pillar enveloped him, he faded away from his spot.

Naruto remained there for some moments but then quickly went back to his cave and collected all of his scrolls and readied himself for his journey to the south from here. He just wished that he could find some friends on the way! It was boring to travel alone and it would be interesting to know how the people of this country were!

[3 months later, Land of Isvan]

The Bureau of magical development is a magical institution located in the land of Isvan.

The Bureau took on an otherworldly, mechanical appearance: it was an extremely high building, seemingly composed of metal, whose shape was highly reminiscent of a crescent moon, leaning on the ground with one edge, with a series of massive, dark cable-like structures linking its lower curved part to the ground and holding it in place. At the building's base and scattered here and there throughout its mass were red parts protruding outwards in several directions, while the rest of the structure was metallic in color, with many more, slender parts jutting outwards throughout its perimeter, these having been reminiscent of antennas or pipes.

The Bureau was located in a rocky and dry plain, with no other buildings or signs of civilization in the immediate area; however, while not visible during the day, the night reveals the presence of a built-up area in the distance, this possessing many high, slender structures with lit windows. Other than that, some average-sized mountains are shown to sit quite away from the structure, slender rock formations here and there extend upwards from the ground, and, during the seemingly perpetually sunny days, the blowing wind raises clouds of dust that cross the place.

In the distance, a figure was observing this building with peculiar interest and some disdain as he started piecing the information and observations he did for the past few hours.

He was leaning against a tree that had the full moon behind him, hiding his appearance from anyone trying to take a glimpse of him.

He then sped towards the building with silent steps and a red ornate katana sheathed in its scabbard tied to his back. He was going to check if there was any truth in the rumors he had heard. And if they were true...

[Inside the building]

A small girl around the age of 10 with short violet hair, red eyes, and pale Snow White skin was curled up on her bed. She was wearing a blue skirt which had red outlining with a flower design. She was in a decorated room which was surprising as she was an experimental subject at the lab.

Ultear has been brought here by her mother Ur, due to her sickness caused by her high magical power. She was told that the experiments done on her were so that she could grow strong and return to her mother. She believed that her mother wanted a strong child and not a sick, frail kid who was a burden to her.

But now her will was broken and she didn't care about anything else. She just wanted to be with her mother. To feel the warmth of her caring love and her soft, gentle voice. She craved to return to her and be with her forever.

She was now crying while sniffling loudly due to the heavy emotions she was feeling. Her magical power began rising with each of her calls for her mother, " okaa-san...okaa-SAN...OKAA-SAN!!!"

Suddenly with the last shout, her magical energy flared up and the glass window above her shattered to pieces due to its pressure.

She suddenly looked upwards and saw the window broken but she didn't expect someone to just fall from the sky out of nowhere.

The figure was taller than her by some inches, and his head and face were covered by a black wrapped cloth. It concealed everything but his bright blue azure eyes. He then turned to look towards ultear who had a shocked face. He smiled under the cloth not that she could see him.

"That was some impressive burst of magic alright! So you wanna run or wait to see me destroy this place to pieces...!!" A very young but gentle and smooth voice asked her.

Ultear snapped back from her shock and noticed the blade in his hands and stepped back in fear. He had a katana with a crimson sheathe and his katana's hilt was circular shaped with 4 slight indentations, with a black center and a golden border. The blade was pure black with a golden flame-like pattern on it.

Naruto noticed this and tried to assure her the best he could, "Oh, don't worry I'm here to rescue you all here. I heard some rumors while traveling so I came to check up...Tell me do they experiment on you?"

Ultear couldn't help but nod with tears in her eyes. Suddenly after a burst of smoke, an identical copy of the figure came forth and picked her up bridal style, and jumped out of the window.

After she was gone, Naruto opened the door to her room and started knocking out all of the guards and helping the prisoners to run away.

These guards weren't strong...This was boring but at least he got to rescue some people...!!!

[Some distance away from the bureau]

Ultear watched as several people were fleeing from the bureau. She heard the warning announcement about an intruder and the security being breached. She was really scared of this unknown person that suddenly disappeared with a puff sound.

But something inside her wanted to wait and see if he was alright. She noticed smoke coming from the laboratory. Suddenly out of nowhere, the same boy appeared in front of her.

"Hey, you are still here? Don't you know where to go or something?" Naruto guessed. It wasn't a far stretch if she was from a faraway land.

"N-No I was just worried about you, that's all. After all, you look like my age so you could've got hurt..." she trailed off with a blush after admitting she was worried about him.

Naruto was taken aback. Someone was really worried about him. That was something he hadn't had anyone do for him for some time and he felt warm after hearing her words. But then he noticed her condition and frowned.

"You're nice!... Here have something to eat I'll patch you up the best I could!!" Naruto took out some hot ramen. He then knelt in front of her and a blue glow lit up his hand.

"N-No d-don't worry!...," she tried to refuse but then she relaxed as her injuries started healing. She tentatively took a bite from the ramen in her hands, "...wait what is this, it tastes really good though!"

Naruto suddenly snapped his head upwards and looked at her in shock. This girl didn't have any ramen in her life. She was weird!

His cloth suddenly fell and ultear blushed as she looked at his face carefully. He had smooth skin and bright blonde spiky hair that reached his shoulders with two jaw-length bangs tied upwards by the cloth that hid his face. He had bright blue eyes which felt like deep ocean water.

His body was well-built for his age and he was tall. He looked to be a year younger than her. He had some weird tattoos on his neck. He wore a black knee-length cloak that had blue flames at its hem. He wore a white turtle neck t-shirt and black pants. He had a red ring on his left hand and black fingerless gloves.

He looked like a prince from stories who came to protect her from that hell from the heavens...!

She was cut off from her thoughts as she heard him say...

"You're weird...!"

She suddenly had a tick mark on her head but then stopped herself from harming him. He had helped her after all.

"Never mind, so what's your name? My name's Naruto Uzumaki Namikaze, dattebayo!!" He continued but clapped his hand on his mouth due to his verbal tic.

She giggled at his cuteness but then answered," I am Ultear Milkovich, Nice to meet you Naruto-kun!!"

"Same here! So what are you gonna do now...!" He smiled at her brightly but purses his lips when he noticed her crestfallen look.

"I...I want to return to my Okaa-san..." she told him with a cracked voice barely holding her emotions.

He understood that perhaps she was taken away from her mother. He knew how painful it was...!

He shook his head and stood up as he started walking away, " Let's go then, we'll find her, and then I'll continue with my journey!"

She looked at him for some moments but then started walking behind him, " Why are you helping me so much, we don't even know each other!!"

He looked over his shoulder and answered without even thinking, "Of course, 'cause I care about you. You are my friend, right?"

She suddenly blushed as he said he cared for her and she was his friend. She didn't have any friends as she and her mother lived pretty far away from the town. He would be her first friend. That thought made her smile.

All the while Naruto waited for an answer and then frowned sadly at her lack of answer, " I mean if you want. If you don't want to be my friend then it's ok!!"

Ultear heard this and flailed her arms in front of her frantically, " N-NO, I mean, I want to be your friend. You helped me, you're strong and nice just like my Okaa-san..."

" But I am a boy your okaa-san must be a woman right?!!" Naruto exclaimed confusedly.

She giggled again. He was really fun to be around, " Not like that silly, I mean your nature is pretty similar."

Naruto hummed in response and continued forwards.

[Many Days later]

Ultear was used to walking in snow but she now had fewer clothes and the temperature here was freezing. Suddenly she felt warm as Naruto covered her with his own cloak. His cloak was so warm perhaps it was because of his magic or something.

"You're okaa-san lives here, say you have so much magical power. Is your mother perhaps a wizard?" Naruto guessed suddenly.

Ultear heard this and frowned suddenly, " Yes, she is a powerful mage here and she uses very pretty magic too! ...But due to my magical power being so high, I am always sick!!"

Naruto heard this and frowned too. He too had so much magical power, his mother had to use two seals to keep him healthy...

WAIT!!!!

He could help her with her problem now!!

"Say I have a similar problem and to solve that we must apply a seal on our magic container that will help us even out our magic and even increase it steadily." He told her casually.

He noticed her perk up and look at him with Astonishment. He smiled at her which caused her to blush. She did that a lot. She was really weird!!

" So do you want me to help you?"

" Yes please...!!" She accepted the offer and suddenly hugged him. He tensed up, it almost had been 3 years since he felt any human contact.

She then let him go and blushed furiously after hugging him suddenly.

He then took out his sealing equipment and started working on placing the seal on her stomach.

Once it was done he started resealing his equipment and turned around to take out another cloak for himself while he was at it.

Ultear on the other hand was blushing up a storm and tried her best not to squeak. But that suddenly disappeared as she looked back down the hill and noticed a very familiar woman standing in the snow.

She was overjoyed and was about to call out to her. But then her world shattered to pieces when she saw two boys around her age half naked talking with her mother happily. She too was happy...

She was happy...

Without her...

Does it mean she has replaced her for someone else...

She collapsed to the ground on her knees and started sobbing while muttering something incoherently.

Naruto looked over at her and noticed her emotions. He noticed the scene too, but he was confused...

"S-She...she abandoned me...she...she..." Ultear sobbed shakily.

Now he understood what was happening. But this was bad! He had no experience in comforting people!

He tried nevertheless...

" Ultear don't worry...I am sure there is some misunderstanding, l...I mean you should go talk to her. If you want I could take the other two away from her!!"

Ultear heard him clearly but her mind wasn't in the right state. She stood up and started walking away, without bothering to look at her mother again.

"Ultear..."

He suddenly dodged a pure magic blast from her and jumped upwards, kicked a nearby tree, and landed just behind her before holding both of her hands behind her back.

'So much magic, she is strong...' he thought, impressed by her control and power without much training. She must be some kind of natural at magic.

" You are not in the right state of your mind. We will talk later!" He said in a monotone scaring her a bit but then he released and she stomped away...

[At night time, same day]

"Naruto-kun...I...I am sorry. I didn't want to attack you! It's just that I am very angry at that woman!", Ultear said as she sat on a log at their campsite and stared at the fire in the center. She muttered the woman part venomously.

"It's ok...So now what should we do Ultear? If you want we could go back and clear all the problems between you two. And then I will head down south from there..." he was cut off suddenly by an angry and snarling Ultear.

"NO!... I will not return there. I will come with you and become strong. So strong that she will regret ever leaving me and taking other children to replace me!"

Naruto looked at her and knew that there was no going back now!

He groaned inwardly but his selfish side was really glad that he now had a companion while traveling. Even if she was weird!! And most importantly she needed to be educated on Ramen.

But he noticed her words and smiled widely.

'She is angry at her mom but also extremely jealous of those kids that her mother had with her. She hasn't noticed it yet but she is doing all of this for her mother...'

He then looked at the sky and sighed. This was going to be interesting from now on...

[6 months later, In an isolated forest area]

A small girl probably six years old was running as fast as she could. She had purple short hair tied upwards with a white floral-designed headband. She was wearing a white skirt with pink frills at the end. She had brown eyes which had a scared and panicked look.

She was being chased after by many bandits who were trying to kidnap her. They were deliberately running slowly and taking sick fun watching the girl futilely running away from them.

But suddenly the girl tripped and started falling but stopped mid-air as Naruto caught her in his arms and helped her stand on her own two feet.

He then turned towards the bandits.

'Hmm 2,6,13... and 38 of them...'

The bandits noticed his defensive stance and started laughing hysterically as if some very funny joke was cracked. Well for them this boy was a joke after all.

"Oi who are you pipsqueak?"

"Yeah, get out of here. We don't sell boys?"

"Hey, we can sell him to the tower, right?"

Hearing this the girl's eyes widened while Naruto raised an eyebrow.

" Y-You s-should run away, they will take you away as well..." she said with tears in her eyes remembering something.

Naruto just decided he would finish this with one move.

"Wind Slayer's: Wind Bomb!"

He didn't even move and the ground around him cracked. Suddenly a large amount of force eradicated everything in front of him and all of the bandits were knocked away in the distance.

The girl behind him now had her eyes bulged out of her sockets and her mouth hung wide open in shock.

He turned towards her and smiled," Well it's taken care of. Now should I take you home, miss..."

The little girl suddenly had tears in her eyes,"...I don't have a home, the bad people with masks destroyed it and took onii-chan with them..."

She started crying again. Naruto was now feeling awkward, he wasn't good at talking to people, especially girls. So he just helped her stand up and patted her head.

"It's ok! Tell me who took them and do you know where they took them?"

The girl shook her head," I don't know, but they had a weird mask and they took everyone with them. I was saved by a red-haired nice nee-chan!"

Naruto thought about her answer and came to some conclusions, based on his experience.

'They took everyone, it would mean they need many people for some purpose,...And what about her, I can't leave her and I can't take her with me either. Ultear has magic but this girl is young and it will be dangerous for her to travel'

Naruto exhaled loudly and wiped her tears," Ok what is your name don't worry, if I ever find your brother I'll help him. It's a promise of a lifetime!"

The girl looked up at him with some hope and dusted herself. He took her hands with his and started walking towards a place he thought would be better for her.

"My name is Kagura Mikazuchi"

"Alright Kagura, let's go I'll take you somewhere children your age learn how to get strong."

"Really! Wow does that mean I can do cool stuff as you did!" The girl exclaimed with stars in her eyes.

Naruto sweat dropped at her instant 180 attitude change but still smiled. He just couldn't resist small children crying. Although he too was small but compared to her he was still old!

[ At night ]

Naruto was walking back to his camp after dropping off Kagura at the sword school for the Style of the undrawn long sword. The old man there had some serious issues with kids being alone and traveling on their own. He even offered him and Ultear to stop at their school.

He had to refuse and Ultear wasn't leaving him till she became super strong to punish her mother or so he thought!!!

As he neared the campsite, he noticed some magic signatures approaching their campsite. He sped towards the camp.

When he reached he saw Ultear the same as she was before practicing her pretty ice magic as she liked to call the ice make magic. She now wore white battle kimono with a floral design and her hair had grown a little long. She tied her hair to one side with a pink ribbon, which was according to him useless.

But he never told her that, he was extra cautious around any girls. They were all super scary when they were angry and even his hiraishin didn't save him from their wrath.

Although she was sweet with him and not aggressive like other women he had met in his life, he just didn't want to risk it.

However, now wasn't the time to think about such trivial things...

" Ultear!!"

She turned around to look at him but was annoyed as he supposedly went hunting and came back without anything in his hands.

Over the months she got used to this type of life. They mainly traveled and took small jobs that required a mage's assistance. Although he did some jobs secretly telling her that it was to improve his battle experience and that she would also go on such jobs when she was ready.

"Where have you been? I was waiting for the food you would bring! I am starving! I trained the whole day and you come back here without even bringing anything to eat!" She shouted at him but then noticed the way he gestured his hands.

"Danger around..."

He had told her about morse code and she learned them for such occasions. She learned them in case some bandits attacked them or similar situations. They even had some dark guilds attack them. They defeated them easily, being with Naruto made her feel like they were all weaklings and he sometimes never even seemed to try!

But now he was serious and the next message made her eyes widen in fear and great worry...

"There are three large signatures and I suspect there to be one hidden. Out of your league for now. Make a run for it. While I am holding these guys off!!"

Ultear was a little hesitant at first but then took off just as Naruto glared at her delayed reaction. He condensed the mist around the path she took, she could make her way to the nearest town and get help. Although he wasn't so sure about his chances against them, no matter how many magics he had. He couldn't use them all at once. Also, he had no information on any of them so he had to first see their magic and then plan out a strategy.

As soon as Ultear took away three shadows appeared on the battlefield.

One of them had spiky long black and blonde hair, and red eyes which had a crazed look in them, and also the underside of his eyes were black almost like he had not slept for many days. He wears a yellow and dark blue skirt-like armor with a red waist ribbon that exposes the right side of his chest as well as his right shoulder, where his guild mark tattoo is located.

The other was also a boy who was a tall and lanky young man. He has silver-colored hair in a pompadour style. He wears silver designer glasses and a dark purple jacket with a flipped-up collar, completed with a fur trimming. He wears a grayish shirt underneath the jacket that has a belt over it that wraps around his waist. He wears long black pants and blue shoes. Finally, he sports a pair of white designer gloves, and his guild member stamp is located on a band around his left arm sleeve.

The last person was also a boy with tanned skin and thick brown hair that looks like long, dark, leathery strips of confetti jutting out in all directions. He has brown eyes and long sideburns, joining his hair to his prominent goatee, which takes the form of several triangles pointing downwards and extending upwards on his chin. He also has a straight dark streak running over his left eye, which extends up to the top of his forehead and down to his mid-cheek. Each of his ears is adorned by a large earring shaped like a round crescent moon pointing down.

" Oi, Oi, where did that chick go? We wanna talk with her buddy!!" The blonde boy said with a maniacal grin.

"Hmm, seems you are chivalrous. You sacrificed yourself to let her have a chance to run away!!" The silver-haired said in a beautified manner.

"What makes you think I am sacrificing myself? We haven't even seen our magic yet" Naruto said in a monotone and entered the defensive stance of his hybrid fighting style.

"Oh, so does that mean you are going to fight? Well at least make it interesting and don't disappoint me, I'm itching for a fight!!" The last one said.

All three of them jumped at the blonde while the fourth one sat in the trees watching the proceedings carefully...

Sorry I was a little late this time. So started now with the fairy tail world. Although we know his magics we will now see Naruto in actual combat in the next chapter.

Although I've read people having Naruto oneshot them, but I really don't like that kinda thing. Also remember he has limitations. So one of the reviews said why give Naruto so many magics?

So I will just say that this fic has this kinda story and also the magic he has can only be taught to him by his village. Also, August was badass, had many magics and why, just because he was zeref's son. Literally zeref isn't all that godly. You'll can accept that at least, I won't make this cringe.

Also I didn't know that negative comments hit so hard!! I mean I lost motivation to write yesterday. But now it's ok!!
