Disclaimer, I do not own RWBY
AN/ I'm back, and ready to bring you a new chapter. I started up as full time now, so my financial issues should start clearing up now. Also, I'm preparing for the upcoming warm weather here in a few months, because I will have everything, I need to run my new airsoft gun at a game, something I've been wanting to do since my first game back in 2016. On a related note, damn you shot show, you make me want to spend even more money. Anyways, on to the chapter!
Arslan couldn't sleep. Since Ruby woke from her little nap, she found that she missed having the reaper by her side. The now familiar sensation of having Ruby either wrapped around her arm or resting against her side was a feeling she was starting to get addicted to.
"Arslan, it's one in the morning, can you stew about whatever is getting to you after we wake up?" Reese groaned quietly.
"Shut it Reese." Arslan snapped, trying to avoid waking the two boys.
"Arslan, just ask her out, if it weren't for the fact that she's blind as a bat, literally, I'm sure she could see just how bad you're crushing. Hell, I'm sure her team is starting to notice." Reese complained.
"But what if she doesn't feel the same?" Arslan argued.
"She trusts you to keep her safe while she can't see anyone, she danced with you, despite not wanting to go to the dance, she fell asleep basically in your lap. Ask her out or I'll do it for you." Reese threatened.
"You wouldn't." Arslan growled.
"I would. Now, sleep."
*RWBY*
Despite the fact that she couldn't see anything, despite the fact that she couldn't hear anything, Ruby knew someone was staring at her in the dark.
"Blake, what do you want?" Ruby guessed, talking quietly.
"Not quite." Weiss responded, a smug tone in her tired voice.
"At least you're not Yang." Ruby grumbled.
"Ruby, something is on your mind, and frankly, the sighing is keeping me awake. Start talking." Weiss demanded.
"How do you know you really like someone Weiss?" Ruby suddenly asked.
"Arslan?" Weiss asked, startling Ruby.
"How did you know?" Ruby asked.
"I had a feeling, but you just confirmed it." Weiss responded, seemingly even more smug.
"Shut up." Ruby pouted.
"No, and honestly, it's different for everyone. But I would say that if you like being near them, miss their company, could listen to them for hours, then you probably like them. Of course, there is more to it than that, but that would be the basics of it." Weiss explained.
"Is that what it's like for you and Jaune?" Ruby asked.
"More or less. Truthfully, once I realized he wasn't just after my name or money, I started to view him differently. Are you going to ask her out?" Weiss asked.
"I don't know. Maybe? How do I know she won't just reject me?" Ruby asked, nervous.
"You don't, but something tells me that Arslan wouldn't say no. You should ask her tomorrow, you might be surprised." Weiss suggested.
"No, absolutely not!" Ruby hissed, freezing when someone shifted in bed.
"You will, or I'll do it for you. They won't be here forever, the sooner you do it, the longer you have to spend time with her." Weiss reasoned.
"Fine, but you owe me a favor."
"Deal."
The following morning, Ruby thought about what Weiss had told her. Arslan certainly wasn't the type to be rude, especially when it came to personal matters. She also was the kind of person Ruby felt she could depend on and trust. Taking Weiss's words to heart, Ruby resolved to ask Arslan.
"So Jaune, how did your match go?" Blake asked as she finished her eggs.
"We won, but we certainly have to work on our team attacks. Thankfully Nora is more than willing to hit people with her hammer." Jaune sighed.
"Sounds rough. So, who are you sending to the doubles?" Ruby asked.
"Nora and Pyrrha. So, what about you, who are you sending?" Ren asked.
"Who do you think? I can't fight and Yang benched herself." Ruby responded.
"Fair point. How are you feeling? Anything hurt?" Nora asked.
"Nope, thankfully Arslan knows how to hit. Though I can't say I'm happy about not being able to fight." Ruby grumbled.
"And I will apologize every time I hear you complain about it." Arslan spoke, surprising the reaper.
"And eventually I will start smacking you for it. So, when is the first match today? The team rounds are almost done, aren't they?" Ruby asked.
"Team CRDL are starting the first match soon, team SSSN should also have their match today too. Anyone still left after today will finish their match tomorrow." Pyrrha stated.
"Any of the Atlas teams still have a match to go?" Yang asked.
"Team FNKI I believe. Will you be going to the match?" Weiss asked, looking towards the reaper.
"Maybe, want to cheer on SSSN if they're up today?" Ruby asked.
"We'll see if anything else comes up, frankly I would rather not be surrounded by their groupies." Arslan sighed.
"They have groupies?" Ruby asked, confused.
"Right, blind. Team SSSN is basically a hot boy band that decided to become huntsmen. Though from what I understand, one of your teammates has monkey boy wrapped around her finger." Arslan said, giving a glance towards Blake.
"What can I say, he's good looking but an idiot, I can work with that." Blake said casually.
"At least he tries, more than I can say for his partner. Have you ever met someone who is clearly smart, but also an absolute idiot?" Arslan cracked.
"Hey, be nice!" Ruby scolded.
"His own partner will say the same thing." Arslan deadpanned.
"Sounds about right. Well, we're going to catch team CRDL, hopefully watch them get curb stomped. You two enjoy whatever it is you decide to do today. And Ruby, try to stay out of trouble." Yang said as she began to stand up.
"I make no promises." Ruby responded defiantly.
"Definitely my sister." Yang smiled as she ruffled Ruby's hair. As the others slowly left as well, Ruby and Arslan were left alone, their respective conversations crossing their minds.
"So, what should we do today? We have free reign of the school, and as long as you don't do anything too strenuous, we can do just about anything." Arslan asked.
"Let's hit the gym, I don't want to start slacking just because I have an excuse to do so." Ruby suggested.
"I could go for a light workout. Weights or cardio?" Arslan asked.
"Little bit of both. Though I'll probably stick with the weights mostly." Ruby responded. As the pair stood from the table, a familiar voice caught Ruby's attention.
"Miss Rose, miss Altan, may I ask where you two will be going?" The authoritative voice of the general asked.
"We were just about to go to the gym, why, is something going on?" Ruby asked.
"Nothing bad, I assure you. I must ask that you be at the air pads at two o'clock today, we have a specialist arriving to help." Ironwood explained.
"So soon? I was expecting to be like this for at least a week." Ruby spoke.
"In truth, she was already on her way for other reasons, namely your letter to the program some weeks ago. It just happened to work out the way it did." Ironwood clarified.
"Can you tell me who it is?" Ruby asked.
"For security reasons, I cannot say. Please keep an eye on the time, miss Altan, we are on a bit of a time crunch. Enjoy the rest of your day." Ironwood dismissed the pair before turning on his heel and walking away.
Well, I'm not gonna lie, I was kinda looking forward to the next week or so." Ruby said quietly.
"What'd you say?" Arslan asked, having heard what Ruby just said.
"I said I was expecting this to happen in the next week or so." Ruby quickly spoke, trying to cover what she had just said.
"That's a shame, I was looking forward to staying by your side." Arslan admitted, unable to keep the small smile off her face.
"I, uh, that's, I mean." Ruby stumbled, blushing furiously.
"Can I say something Ruby?" Arslan asked as she led the reaper out of the cafeteria.
"Uh, yeah." Ruby responded as the dull roar of their classmates disappeared.
"From the moment I met you, I have wanted to learn more about you. The more I learned about you, the more I wanted to be near you. In the span of these last few weeks, you have captured not only my attention, but also my heart, and from your little admittance, dare I say that you feel similarly?" Arslan asked.
"You sound like Weiss. And, yeah, I like you too. Probably have for the last couple of weeks. But, are you sure? You know I'm blind." Ruby responded simply.
"I wouldn't have said what I just did if it was a dealbreaker. So, what do you say to a date at the gym, just me and you?" Arslan asked elatedly.
"Like you even need to ask." Ruby said as she wrapped the blonde in a tight hug.
AN/ And so it happens! Serious plot happening in the next couple of chapters, maybe just a little bit of fan service. I'm slowly getting back on my feet financially, so yay for that at least. I really want to start writing more often, but work is kinda exhausting, but I promise that I will try, I have a growing backlog of stories I want to write, but I'm slow on my updates, though I suppose that is the better problem to have all things considered. Anyways, until next time, have a great day!
