I DREAM OF RAINBOWS

Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

The awesome and talented dowlingnana searched out my errors and corrected them.

"Edward, I think your mother has covered everything that needs to be said, but, I do want you to know that we both stand firm on what she has told you. No more nonsense!"

CHAPTER 21: MORE THOUGHTS THAN ACTIONS

Edward knew that his mother wasn't kidding about what she had told him, so, he knew that he was going to either have to accept things the way they were, or, be a bit more discrete about how he approached trying to get his own way about the contract. And, make no mistake about it, he hadn't given up on the idea of getting Miss Hypocrite into his bed.

He felt that once he had had a taste of her flavor then the pull of desire, he felt, towards that woman would diminish and totally disappear altogether. Never had he felt such a need to conquer female before the way he felt that he had to dominate this woman. All he knew was that he was compelled to persist until he had conquered her, devoured her to his fill and then he could walk away without any afterthoughts of consequences.

But, there was no way in hell that he could let his family know his thoughts, feelings or desires that were pushing him in his desperate attempts to have his own way. His own way and to hell with what the other person thought or wanted.

Another thing that Edward wasn't able to explain to himself, let alone anyone else, was the reasoning of why he was refusing to allow the terms of the contract to stand as written. Usually, with a first-time published author, that person was thrilled to even have their book considered for a movie project straight away. Even to the point of gratefully accepting the reasonable conditions that were being offered. Neither Edward or the company had ever cheated any one and he wasn't about to start now. However, he wasn't used to anyone dictating terms to him with no room for compromise.

At this point, Edward didn't stop to realize that he had himself in the position of not wanting to compromise, either. He didn't think that he was being unreasonable about the contract; he wanted the company to make money as well as the other side. And, with the way this contract read, he felt that it was this woman that was reaping ninety percent of the benefits without any regard to the company. After all it was the company that was putting up all of the money to make this book into a movie. Isabella Swan wasn't being out one damn dime, but, was in a way, demanding to reap the greater benefits. At least, that was Edward's line of thinking. Right or wrong!

This situation, in his opinion, was like running around in circles and achieving nothing. Not one single damn thing. And, with that thought, Edward realized that that was what he was doing at that particular moment; he was just driving with no destination in mind. Of course, he did consider going to one of his stand-by's as he knew he would always be welcomed and receive some semi-incredible sex without him having to work for it. And with that thought, he felt that he had come to a decision that pulled him out of his current rut, at least for the moment.

Bella was still curious enough to wonder what Edward was going to tell her until he had been interrupted when everyone decided to crowd back into her room. And, Bella was smart enough to know that her cousins weren't deceived; they were very much aware of the tension that existed between her and Edward Cullen. She only hoped his family didn't detect it. Because if they had then it would mean more harsh feelings popping up between her and Edward.

Even though, she had been raised to be a strong and decisive person, she was also taught to be fair minded in both business and personal matters. That was what she was trying to do in regards to her demands concerning the terms of the contract,

Bella also had to admit that Edward Cullen was one hell of a sexy man and under other circumstances, she wasn't opposed to sharing a night in bed with the man having a bit of fun. After all she wasn't a prude and did enjoy the opportunity of having her itch scratched when needed. However, she was very careful of who and when that itch was going to be scratched.

It was as Bella suddenly realized where her thoughts were beginning to wander that she pulled herself back to the reality of the whole situation. Even though, she had admitted that she might have an attraction towards one Edward Cullen, she knew that she wouldn't allow that attraction to get in her way of during business with the company he represented. And, she definitely wouldn't allow him into her bed since he was such a man whore. She wasn't that desperate.

Getting lost in her thoughts once again, Bella was slowly beginning to drift off to sleep and not paying any attention to any of the noise that could be heard of the activities taking place in the hallway outside her room.

"Well, that idea didn't pan out with any useful knowledge." Rosalie commented as she, Alice and Mark impatiently waited for the hotel's security to be finished viewing the final footage from the security tapes.

After meeting with the hotel manager and making their request, then being told that only the security team could view the tapes due to privacy issues concerning the hotel guests, the three decided to go to the hotel restaurant to await any news. The manager had wanted to get back with them in a day or two, but, that wasn't good enough for Rosalie and Alice. They had demanded an answer that day before Mark could say anything. Both women had reminded the manager that it was their cousin that had been injured in his hotel and that a lawsuit could be brought to bear if they didn't receive the cooperation they were asking for.

It seemed to be taking hours for word to get back to them, however, in truth it had only taken two hours from start to finish. The security team was able to confirm that the date and time period were still available, so, they would be able to, hopefully, provide some answers, within reason, in short order.

Emmett hadn't said anything to anyone about a certain lady that he had seen in the audition tapes that had caught his attention. He was trying to maintain his impatience until he could meet her personally once filming for the movie began.

But, to have the same woman to enter Ms. Swan's hospital room along with the very same woman that had been chosen to be the customer designer for his upcoming project, totally surprised him. Both of the women seemed to be close and would be working on the same project together. However, to find out that they were related to Ms. Swan had caught him by total surprise. 'What were the odds of that happening?' he wondered to himself. It seemed that this project was going to be a family affair.

"Oh well, my time is coming. All I have to do is be patient." He quietly mused to himself.

"Can you believe it?! I mean really, after waiting for some answers to find out how Bella was injured and NOTHING! Not a damn thing could be seen because the cameras weren't situated to capture anything." Alice was ranting. In fact, she hadn't stopped ever since they had been told there wasn't anything on the tapes at the hotel.

Rosalie was equally disgusted with the outcome, but, she was too upset to rant and rave such as Alice is carrying on. And, she could also see how upset Mark was. It has really affected him in some ways. He feels that, somehow, he's responsible for Bella's condition and the fact that she's in the hospital. Mark is firmly convinced that if he hadn't drunk so much then none of this would have happened.

In some ways, Rosalie agrees with that fact, but, there's no changing what has happened. All they can do is deal with the current situation and be more careful in the future. The more Rosalie spends time with Mark Strollman, the less impressed she is of him.

It's true that he has helped Bella as her agent in getting her published and guiding her throughout the pitfalls when she first started. Even though Bella was aware of some of the in's and out's of a beginning author, there was still a lot more that she didn't know, so, Mark was able to help her when she got fired from the publishing house where she had been working as she wrote her book. But, for all of this movie project, he seemed to be completely in over his head. From what Rosalie could determine it seemed that Bella was the one handling the terms and the finalizing of the contract details; not her agent.

However, his concern for Bella under the current circumstances, both Rosalie and Alice were in agreement, it was genuine. He seemed to care for Bella more than just as a client; his concern was border lining as a "very close" friend, almost as a wanting more of a personal relationship. But, Rosalie knew her cousin well enough to know that that was never going to happen.

Edward found no enjoyment, for some unknown reason, with the lady he was leaving. Never had such a thing happened to him before now. Even during the time, he had just spent trying to get a certain woman out of his mind, it didn't work. All he could think about was how it would feel to have Isabella Swan submissive to his whims and the satisfaction he would receive pumping inside her until she accepted that he had full control of her.

Reaching his car, Edward decided that he would chance catching Ms. Swan alone, so, he decided to head back to the hospital.

"Well, husband, what do you think about Edward's statements?" Esme asked Carlisle.

"He's hiding something still. That's what I know for sure. It's not so much what he's saying, but, more of what he isn't saying.

"Edward still hasn't let go of wanting to get his own way about that contract and he's going to do everything he can to get his own way. But, I do believe that he'll do it, or, at least, attempt it in a manner that will leave no room for us to have any complaints."

"I'm afraid that I have to agree with you, but, do you think we'll have to take the action we threatened him with, or, not?"

"Es, I don't think we'll have the chance. He's not going to be stupid enough to force us to take that action. He's going to be sneaky and make everything appear as if he's falling in line.

"He'll try to romance her into changing her mind." Carlisle commented with a bit of a chuckle and then he added, "But, somehow, I believe that Ms. Swan will be teaching our Edward a lesson instead of the other way around."

"I have to agree with you completely there."

Edward arrived at the hospital and quietly entered Bella's room. He noticed that she was asleep, so, he quietly took a seat next to her bed and settled in to wait until she awoke.

A/N: Okay, we have a chance to see what everyone is thinking.
