I DREAM OF RAINBOWS
Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

Emmett was happy that he had decided to delay his return home until the next day. It gave him this last chance to try to reach Ms. Swan and it worked; she answered and had agreed to meet with him.
CHAPTER 31: EMMETT WINS THE DAY
Emmett could hardly contain his excitement over the fact that he had finally spoken with Ms. Swan and she had agreed to meeting with him the following day. His excitement was such that he had to call his Rosie to let her know before contacting anyone else. He knew she would be thrilled for him and then he knew that he needed to call Jasper and the rest of the family. Then as he thought of letting Edward know a chill ran down his spine. He just about had enough of his brother's negative remarks. They had done nothing for him except to bring his mood down to a level lower than where hell might exist.
Quickly dismissing the thoughts about his brother, Emmett did call Rosalie and hoped that she would be able to answer right away. But he did know that it was possible that she was on a shoot. He was anxious to share his good news, well at least to him it was good news, with someone that he felt would really give a concentrated shit.
So, he waited with bated breath while Rosalie's phone began to ring.

Edward had barely made it home before his mother was due to arrive. He knew that he was about to have to endure another lecture which would lead to another threat. So far, he had been lucky enough that his parents hadn't followed through with the threat of removing him from running the company. He seems to have skated by the skin of his teeth to avoid that action taking place.
He hated the self-believed truths he's been telling Emmett, but Emmett needed to have his eyes opened to what Isabella Swan was doing to the company. Ever since the moment that Jasper had approached her concerning doing a movie based upon her book, she has been the one dictating all of the terms and ignoring what everyone else was wanting or trying to advise her to do.
The funny thing about the whole deal is that no one else saw what he was seeing. The whole family thought that she was being quite reasonable in her terms. That nothing was unusual in what she wanted in the contract.
Then she had the nerve to leave the city to return to her home without even listening to the truth of what Jasper was trying to tell her at the airport and to take the time to sign the damn contract. Well, truth be told, it was the truth of what Edward was wanting everyone to believe so he could quietly put his own personal plans into action.
Reaching this point in his thoughts, Edward was reminded by the sound of the doorbell ringing that his mother was due. He moved forward and opened the door to admit Esme into his home. And without stopping to even greet her son, Esme continued on to the living room leaving Edward with no choice but to close the door and then to follow his mother.
"Mom, you're being very mysterious. What has brought you here in such an urgent rush?" Edward asked his mother, hoping, really more like praying silently, that it wasn't to make another threat or to follow through with her biggest threat of his removal.
Esme didn't say anything for a minute or two before she simply answered, "Edward, I'm here to hear why you're behaving as you are. Why are you trying to make life hell for yourself and for your brothers, especially for Emmett?"
"I wasn't aware that I was doing that to anyone, including myself. I'm just-"
But before he could continue with what he had started to say, Esme held up her hand to stop him and said, "Edward, no more. You know as well as I do what you've been doing. So, please, don't compound things with half-truths, attempted evasions or lies.
"Talk to me, son, like you used to do when you were younger. I'm not here to judge or anything else other than to listen and hopefully to help you." Esme finished in a quietly gentle manner in hopes that she was reaching her son.
"Mom, I really don't know what you're wanting me to say." Edward told her, then paused as he ran his hand down his face. "Mom, Isabella Swan has me so tied up in knots that I don't know if I'm coming or going." He remarked, not realizing that he had a surprised look on his face as what he had just admitted caught up to his brain.
Esme saw the look upon his face and waited to see if he would say anything else, but nothing was forthcoming. So, she asked, "Do you want to talk about it?"
"No, not really. I decided to sign the contract and as we all know, Swan refused to sign it after Jasper went to all of the trouble to catch up with her at the airport.
"Emmett has had to make the trip all the way up to Seattle and even that hasn't worked out for anyone since she is refusing to talk or even answer her phone. She is refusing to take any calls from what we've been told, from any Cullen.
"What good has all of it done?" Edward asked at the end of his little speech. He was making sure to be guarded about what else he said as he knew that he couldn't let anyone be aware of his plans where Ms. Swan was concerned. That is if he did get the chance to move forward on them.
"So, you really aren't going to talk to me and tell me what it is about Ms. Swan that has you so uptight?" Esme paused a moment in hopes that Edward would contradict her, but it seemed that she was waiting in vain. After another moment, she continued, "I can't make you talk to me, but I was hopeful that you would confide in me as you did when you were a child.
"Son, just remember that I'm willing to listen if you decide to get your head out of your ass and want to talk." And, with that said, Esme picked up her purse, rose and left. The next sound Edward heard was the slamming of the door, confirming the fact that his mother was pissed and had left his home.

"Rosie, I can't believe it; she finally answered and agreed to meet with me tomorrow. She said something about being back into town tomorrow, do you have any idea what she might be talking about?" Emmett was enthusiastically talking with Rosalie and letting her know about his short conversation with Bella.
Rosalie was happy to hear the joy in Emmett's voice and wanted to let him know, but he just wasn't giving her much of a chance to get in any words. All she could do was smile to herself and listen to the happiness that was finally sounding in the voice of her man.
Although, Rosalie was happy for herself and Alice as well. This information meant that Bella was once again considering dealing with the Cullen's. With that being the case, it meant that she and Alice would likely be working on the project that was going to be her book.
"Emmett, I'm so happy to hear that Bella has finally talked with you and that she has agreed to a meeting with you. However, I'm even happier to hear the joy and hope returning to your voice.
"And, as much as I would love to talk with you further, I've got to go since I'm due for a shoot in less than an hour. I'll call you tonight and we can talk more about everything. Okay?"
"Not a problem. I still have to call the family and let them all know about what has happened. My guess is that everyone will be thrilled except for Edward. I still haven't come up with any ideas about his problem, except for the obvious that we know about, could be with your cousin. Maybe one day we'll find out." And, with that said Emmett said his goodbyes to Rose and hung up.
Emmett decided that it would be better to call Edward last, so next on his list was to call Jasper and then his parents. To his way of thinking, Jasper needed to be notified so he could have any further paperwork that was needed ready for when Emmett returned with the, hopefully, signed contract. But, at the same time Emmett wanted to make sure that he knew all that he needed to know in case Ms. Swan wanted to do any changes to the contract. Jasper would be able to tell him what could be allowed and what couldn't.
So, he dialed Jasper's phone and waited a bit impatiently for his brother to answer. Once he heard Jasper pick up and say hello, Emmett lost no time explaining why he was calling and began firing off all of his questions. He wasn't allowing poor Jasper any time to be able to answer a single question. That was how nervous Emmett was that he didn't even realize what he was doing until Jasper yelled at him, "Shut the hell up, Emmett, and give me a chance to answer all that you're asking."
With that said, Emmett snapped his mouth closed and didn't utter another word until after Jasper had managed to answer every question, he had been asked. Once Jasper had finished speaking, Emmett sighed a breath of relief and felt that he was prepared for his meeting on the morrow with Ms. Swan. With a bit more conversation and a congratulations from Jasper, Emmett hung up with the comment that he was about to call the parents.
Emmett didn't hesitate calling Carlisle and Esme to let them know about the upcoming meeting to which his parents also congratulated him on a job well done. They let him know that they were looking forward to his homecoming in a day or two for further updates concerning Emmett's determined project. However, they did inquire about the fact if Emmett had notified his brothers.
"Only Jasper because I wanted to make sure that I was ready for any questions or possible request for any other changes she might want made. The only person I haven't called was Edward, but I was considering not calling him at all. I just thought that I might present the signed contract to him upon my return home."
"Sounds like a good idea to me. I would also suggest that under the current circumstances that nothing be said to your brother whatsoever until your return. We're instruct Jasper of our decision so Edward will be left in the dark for now." Carlisle commented.
Emmett was quick to thank his parents for their support, but he was in complete ignorance as to why his father had suggested that move. Carlisle had seen how upset his wife had been upon her return of an errand that afternoon, and he became upset even more with Edward once Esme had explained what she had attempted to do regarding Edward's behavior.

"Hey, Bells, don't let it be so long next time. I know it can be a pain in the ass to come home to Forks, and I really don't mind coming to see you in Seattle, but it is nice for both of us to be together here from time to time. A place that has truly been home for both of us growing up together." Charlie told his daughter as he gave her a quick hug before she turned to climb in her car and head back to Seattle.
She and Charlie had agreed that the trip had been good for both of them and thoroughly enjoyable for both of them as well. But, even though Bella had had good intentions of calling Rosalie and Alice she decided to wait until she had returned home.
Bella did wonder why Emmett had come to see her instead of Jasper, but in the long run it wasn't a big deal to her. She liked both of the two; they were good to and for her cousins. Now, Edward was a different matter. She was pulled physically and emotionally towards him, but she refused to be just another notch on his bedpost. She wanted something both deep and meaningfully for herself and the man she committed herself to. She knew that Edward wasn't ready for that sort of relationship, so Bella was determined not to waste her time. Or let him pull her into his web of intrigue.
Bella got home in enough time to unpack and get ready to meet Emmett so they could discuss the contract. When the time approached, Bella drove to Emmett's hotel and took the elevator up to his room after asking at the desk for his room number. She felt that it would be better to have their talk in private with no noise instead of down in some café that carried the chatter of people talking loudly, trying to be heard over the din of dishes and the interruptions of the servers.
The fact that Emmett was the one that followed her to Seattle seemed to tell her that he was very determined and serious about wanting to do this movie based on her book. And, although Bella hadn't said anything to anyone she was just as excited about her book being turned into a movie, but not at the expense of her losing control of how it's presented. The book that embodied everything that her grandmother believed in and had taught to Bella.

Emmett hadn't called anyone to let them know that he was returning home, but he had one hell of a surprise for them. Isabella Swan and he had discussed the reasons of why she had written the book and why he was wanting to make it into a movie. Their reasons were the same: to hopefully give hope to those that needed it and to show that if you look for it life could be beautiful even in the small things.
And, after that discussion she had signed the contract, after reading it over, without wanting any changes made.
Emmett didn't even take time to call Rose as he wanted to surprise her the same as his family.
A/N: Okay, Emmett has a signed contract and is about to surprise everyone. Carlisle and Esme are very upset with Edward. Poor Edward is about to have to eat crow once he finds out that Emmett was able to get the movie project back on track and that Bella wasn't returning to L. A. for a while.
Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing from you.
