I DREAM OF RAINBOWS

Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

And, after that discussion she had signed the contract, after reading it over, without wanting any changes made.

Emmett didn't even take time to call Rose as he wanted to surprise her the same as his family.

CHAPTER 32: ON TO THE NEXT STEP

Emmett's excitement to be returning home with the signed contract from Ms. Swan was barely containable. His mind was full of plans and ideas all the way back to L. A. and he was eager to get started on his project as soon as he possibly could. Of course, he still had the obstacle known as Edward Cullen that had to be dealt with after Edward had been informed of the current situation.

It didn't take long for Emmett to pass through LAX and reach his car. But once there he was hard pressed to decide where to go first. Should he go to the office and confront Edward with the contract? Go to see his parents? Get in touch with Jasper so they could discuss any other paperwork that might be needed? Or, go and see his Rosie? He wasn't even sure if she was at home at the moment. However, he decided to find out, so, that is the direction he headed. He was going to surprise his Rosalie and then deal with the rest of the family later.

Bella was happy with how the meeting had gone with Emmett Cullen. They had taken the time to talk quite a bit about the why's of her writing the book and the why's of Emmett wanting to make the book into a movie. It seemed they both had the same outlook of what they had wanted to accomplish in regards to the storyline and the presentation of it in the movie. That was the reason Bella felt comfortable signing the contract without having it checked over once more. She had quickly read it just to make sure everything was as had been discussed and was satisfied.

Of course, she knew that it would mean traveling quite a bit between Seattle and L. A. Add to that schedule the work she needed to continue while working on her new book. It was going to be a rough schedule. However, Bella felt that she would be able to handle it.

The only true problem she could foresee on the horizon was one Edward Cullen. Bella was wise enough to know that he hadn't given up on trying to get his way. Since he didn't achieve it with getting everything the way he wanted it in the contract, didn't mean that he wouldn't try to change things in other areas. At least, that is what she was assuming because in the long run, Edward Cullen had given in too easily when he signed the contract she had wanted.

Bella was fairly sure that she had been the only female to ever tell Mr. Rich, cocky-ass, Playboy Cullen, no. His approach to try to get to her was one that spoke of that type of cocky confidence. And, Bella wasn't into the kind of relationship that was labeled as 'one-night stands". She wanted something deep and loving. The dreamed about forever and a day type of romance and love.

She knew that she had to stay on her toes when it came to any type of deals that Edward Cullen had a say. Bella did realize that he had a business to run and that he carried a heavy responsibility to make sure it stayed on top of the competition when it came to producing quality entertainment that made the company money in return. Especially, since it seemed to cost quite a bit to make movies of any kind. But Bella had to make sure that he realized that she was not part of any deal.

Bella was honest enough with herself each time she gave Edward Cullen a passing thought, that he was sexy, handsome almost to the point of being labeled beautiful, and that he was hot as hell. He was everything that spoke of burning bright and that whatever prey he set his sights on it was sure to be burnt to a crisp. And, Bella was determined not to fall into that category. Edward Cullen would have to stalk his prey somewhere else.

So, after the meeting with Emmett Cullen, Bella headed home so she could have a breather before making all of the necessary phone calls to her agent, attorney, and accountant. They all needed to be made aware of the fact that she had signed the contract and to give each of them a copy for their files.

After that she needed to call Rosalie and Alice to bring them up to date as to the whole situation. She knew they would be excited for her and then would begin to help find temporary quarters for her that would be needed during her stays in L. A.

As he was pulling near Rosalie's home, he noticed that her car was parked in the drive. This discovery filled him with joy since he would not have to wait to share his news with anyone. Emmett knew that he should have felt guilty by talking with Rosalie first, but he didn't. In his heart, he felt that he was making the right choice. He really didn't feel up to Edward's snide remarks, to Jasper's possible sense of not doing his job, or his family's overreactive encouragement.

Getting out of his car, Emmett went to the door and knocked a couple of times before it was suddenly swung open by the very vision that he was wanting to see.

Seeing who her visitor was, Rosalie jumped into Emmett's arms without any hesitation. If he hadn't have moved as quickly as he had to catch her, both he and Rosalie would have landed in a heap on the ground. However, instead, he was fully into the lip lock that his girl was giving him. But after they broke apart to be able to catch a breath, Rosalie grabbed his hand and pulled him on into the house, then slammed the door which gave them more privacy from the public. Once the door was closed, Emmett lost no time putting Rosalie against the wall before he began attacking her lips, face and then neck in a passionate need and hunger.

But once the couple needed to break apart once more to catch a breath, "Hell, Rosie, that is one damn greeting. Maybe, I need to go away more often if that's the greeting I can expect upon my return each time." Emmett commented with joy ringing in his words.

"I'm glad you're back and I can hardly wait to hear how the meeting with Bella went. Did she sign the contract? Is the movie going into production?" Rosalie was excited to have her man back, but at the same time she was anxious to hear that she was going to have the role that she wanted to play. She also knew that Alice would want to know about how Emmett's meeting with Bella went.

Just as Emmett and Rosalie were about to sit down, the phone began to ring. Rosalie looked at the caller ID to see who was calling and showed her surprise once she had identified the caller.

Answering the phone, she put the caller on speaker and said, "Hey, cuz, what's new? Did everything go well with your meeting with Emmett Cullen? And, why in the hell did it take you so long to get back with him and agree to meet him?" Question after question Rosalie was firing off to her cousin while Bella patiently waited for Rose to need to draw air into her lungs.

"Hold on there! You're firing questions at me right and left without pause. How am I supposed to answer you under those circumstances?" Bella remarks back and then asks of Rosalie with a bit of laughter in her voice. Then she continued, "I'm returning both of yours and Alice's calls. Only I haven't been able to get a hold of Alice right yet.

"And, to try to answer your questions, but not necessarily in the order they were asked. Charlie and I decided to take a small trip; just the two of us since it had been a while since we had been able to have some time together. We booked a cruise up around Alaska and I must say that it was great.

"I've come back fully relaxed and stress free for the moment. Charlie had wanted us to leave our cell phones at home so there would be no disturbance from anyone and we could both just relax and enjoy ourselves. So, that's what we did. That is the reason why no one was able to get a hold of us until now.

"But as soon as we did get back, we had one last night together, however, I did call Emmett and set the meeting with him upon my return to Seattle the next day. We did meet and had a very enlightening conversation which gave me great satisfaction to be able to sign the contract without further hesitation since he promised that from that point onwards that no one but himself would be in charge of the project; that is other than my input as agreed to in the contract.

"As to where Emmett is at this moment, I have no idea, but taking the time since I'm back home to return both of my crazy cousins' phone calls." Bella concluded with her explanation.

Rosalie laughed as she told Bella, "I'm not worried about where Emmett is at the moment, but I am delighted to know that everything has been settled where the contract is concerned."

"Why, Rosalie? What is going on that I don't know about? You and Alice have been incredibly open about the advice you've given me even before my first meeting with Jasper Cullen. And, I can tell by the tone of your voice that you're holding something back from me.

"Did you and Alice manage to get the positions that you both had tried for? Is that what's going on? You have good news to tell me?" Bella questioned her cousin.

As Bella had mentioned about the advice that Rosalie and Alice had given to her, Emmett shot a quick, but shocked look over to Rosalie. He wanted to know what Bella was talking about, however, wasn't sure if Rosalie wanted to let Bella know of his presence during the current conversation between the two women.

"Well, yeah, Alice and I did manage to get offered the positions we were wanting. However, we hesitated to mention anything to you because we didn't want to unduly influence you or your decisions in any way." Rosalie simply remarked to Bella without really answering any of her questions.

"How would any of that have anything to do with my decisions?" Was the only question Bella asked in return.

"Well, you see, Alice was offered the position to do the costume designs for a movie and I was offered the lead in the same movie. We both have been extremely excited about doing this project, but we couldn't discuss anything with you."

"Why the hell not, Rose? You're acting like it has to do with my….. Well, I'll be damn. Are you trying to tell me that this has to do with the movie Emmett Cullen is wanting to make concerning my book?"

"Exactly! The three of us will be working on the same project together and we're excited about the prospect. But we couldn't tell you because of the roadblocks that Edward Cullen was tossing out. The decision to sign and do the movie had to be your choice and your choice alone. We didn't want to feel like you were forced to sign the contract because of us." Rosalie explained.

"Thanks, Rose. And, tell Alice, no I'll tell Alice when I talk to her that I deeply appreciate both of you giving me the chance to decide for myself what is the best thing for me to do. I really do appreciate the thoughtfulness that you both gave." Bella said with her words conveying the emotion that she was feeling at that moment.

Rosalie took the phone off of speaker so she and Bella could continue talking a little longer before hanging up. But it didn't take long after Rosalie had disconnected the call for Emmett to ask, "What advice was Bella talking about?"

Rosalie just looked at him and smiled before she answered his question. Once she had finished speaking all Emmett could do was just laugh about what he had been told.

"You know, my beautiful Rosie, Edward doesn't stand a damn chance against your cousin."

A/N: Emmett is back in L. A. without anyone but Rosalie knowing about it. Bella did try calling Alice but received no answer. So, she did talk with Rosalie and had a lot explained to her. Any idea how Edward is going to take the news once he's presented with the signed contract?
