He was was sitting across the table, trying his best to eat his food. He tried to stick the veggies on his plate with his little fork, only for them to escape him. His brows furrowed as he continued to try and fail, until he finally gave up and just used his hands to pick them up. His mother and father were watching him lovingly, trying to hold back their laughter from his precious attempts. She decided to start a conversation with her young son, a popular topic other moms are talking about.

"Yuu-chan, do you want to be a hero?" His mother asked. Her big, round red eyes looked at her son intently. He had her black hair, while he had his father's black eyes.

"Hero? Like Mommy and Daddy?" His eyes were sparkling as he looked at his parents. They were the coolest heroes to him.

Their quirks were perfect for investigations, and they were often working with police to find villains and their hideouts. His mother's quirk was Psychometric Energy Manipulation, she could tell where an object had been, who it was with, and how it got to where it was by simply touching it. The longer she was in contact with the object, the more she could 'see'. But that wasn't all. She could read and create energy, which could be used for offense and defense if needed. But she preferred to do detective work because of how tired using that side of her quirk makes her.

Her energy manipulation also meant she could move things and people to a certain degree, but that was also very tiring so she rarely ever used it.

His father's quirk was Retrocognition Mind. Whenever he arrived at the scene of a crime, he can see what happened there with a complete view of the scene as if he was standing in the middle of it. The more clues he finds the clearer the picture becomes, and he can track the villains responsible. He doesn't need witness accounts for this, but having them helps him get a clearer picture which he can sharpen on his own. He could also project what he thinks of into another person's mind, or create an illusion to keep villains from figuring them out when they were at a hideout. It's said that his illusion almost feel like reality they're so vivid. But depending on how it's used, it could make the other party fall asleep.

Together their quirks made up for each-other's weaknesses, and they were renowned for their excellent work. They were known as The Detective Heroes: Dual Omniscience. Although they weren't as well known or flashy as other heroes, Yuuma thought of them as the best heroes ever!

"Yeah. All of your classmates seem to want to be one too, what about you?" His father added, curious about what his precious boy wanted to do. Yuuma was deep in thought. Being a hero like mom and dad sounded amazing, but...

"I don't know." It was an answer they were definitely not expecting. They knew how much he looked up to them.

"Can you tell us why?" His mother asked, curious. Their son was so different from the other kids his age. He never asked for much, and was always observing others. His body was always frail, so he easily got sick. He had zero stamina. He was smaller than all of the kids his age, even though he was only 5.

"I don't know if I can be as cool as you guys are... I'm not strong or big like the other kids. I like reading! I could be a scholar. I'm really smart. Maybe I could be a doctor, or a scientist, or a-" He noticed that his parents were giggling, watching their adorable son with sparkling eyes because he was being so cute telling him what he wanted. "Did I do something wrong?"

"N-no honey!" His mother was already on the other side of the table hugging her son. "You're just so cute! How something as precious as you came out of me I will never know but I thank my lucky stars every night!"

"But son, being a hero isn't all about being cool or flashy." His father said. "It's about protecting people and their futures."

"Protecting people... and their futures?"

"Yes, baby. There are people out there who can't protect themselves, and there are people who've been wronged. What we do is right the wrongs, and we protect those people so that it never happens again by catching those villains. It's okay to be afraid, but never be too scared to do the right thing. Can you promise me you will do that, honey?"

"I'll try but... can someone like me really make a good hero?"

"Oh, baby..." His mother said, picking him up in her arms. "A hero doesn't have to be the biggest or the strongest. All that matters is what's in here." She pointed at the middle of his small chest, a smile bubbling up on his face. "I know you can do it if you want to, sweetie."

"Yuuma, you can be a hero!" They said in unison, causing the small boy's eyes to light up and sparkle. The parents were almost blinded by the sheer brightness their son emitted. It was as if he were the sun itself.

"A Hero like Mommy and Daddy!" He nodded, sparkles in his eyes as his respect for his mother and father only grew. He wondered what quirk he'd get. One like his mom's? His dad's? A bit of both? Oh, he was so excited. But, the thought of being a hero still felt a bit foreign to him. He could be a scholar, or a doctor, or a scientist. Being a hero, sounded so cool but...

What could someone like him do as a hero? He'd never be big and strong like All Might. Being a hero, could he really do something so cool?

His parents weren't aware of his inner monologuing, they were too overwhelmed by the cuteness of the child before them. How? How can something be so precious? His father quietly got out his phone and took a slough of photos before finally looking towards his watch to see the time.

"Come on, buddy. It's time to get you to school. You got that test today, right?"

"Uhm." His mom began to carry him since she was already holding him, and walked happily to their car. She put him in his high chair in the middle of the backseat, and they left their house on their way to the school. "That test is supposed to be really hard, I hope I do well..." Yuuma said worriedly.

"Yuu-chan, it's 3rd grade! Any other kid your age would still be in kindergarten but your so smart you shot right past them! I'm sure you'll do great!" His dad said proudly. A thought popped into his head to cheer him up. "Tell you what, if you get an A on that test we'll go to that ice-cream shop you love so much. How's that sound?"

"ICE-CREAM?! THE VANILLA ONE?!" He was bouncing in his car seat with absolute glee. "VANILLA!"

His mother was cooing at her son, holding her heart as if she was having a mini-heart attack. His dad was fighting the need to do the same reaction. He had to drive, he had to concentrate on driving. He had to get from point A to B, and then to their job at the police station. Yes, he must be strong. Be strong, you are strong!

"I'm going to get an A, Daddy! I'll get an A, and we can get ICE-CREEAMM! I love you Daddy! You're the best Daddy in the world!"

Yeah, so much for that. He ended up making a certain heart squeezed face, which was the same face his mother was making. "Too... precious..." They said in unison, Mom wishing she'd been the one to offer the ice cream first so he'd be saying he loved mommy the best. Ugh, the jealousy she felt. Suddenly, her husband pulled over. He had the most serious face that she'd ever seen him make, and turned to her to ask the one question that he asked her everyday since the moment Yuuma was born. "Wife, how did we produce something so precious?"

Without missing a beat, she replied the same way she always did.

"The gods took pity and blessed us with one of their purest angels, Husband." She answered, both of them nodding as if that was the only logical answer to explain why their son was so precious. Yuuma noticed their reactions, not sure what they meant. He wasn't good at reading the room. Was it something he said? "Did I do something wrong?"

"N-no, Yuu-chan. You get that A! I know you can do it, honey." Mom cheered her son on. Tiny blushes appeared on his cheeks as his smile grew. He was determined to get that A, and then all three of them were going to get his favorite ice cream. They finally arrived at the elementary, and Yuuma got out burning with determination. His parents were fighting the urge to dote on him right then and there and give him the world.

He waved a final goodbye to his parents, and went inside to his classroom. He put his bookbag up, and sat at his desk, not caring to socialize with the older kids. It was too awkward for him, he was too shy for it. There was another shy kid in class named Midoriya, and a loud kid named Bakugou that Midoriya was friends with.

Well, Yuuma was sure the two hated each other though. Bakugou was mean, Midoriya often being his target. It was something about him being quirkless which Yuuma didn't really understand. Being mean is being mean. Meanies are bad! Yuuma would more often than not tell him to stop being mean, only to be met with a scoff. But the older boy would listen and stop teasing Midoriya.

Yuuma didn't dislike Bakugou; he was a diligent hard worker, paid attention in class, and was a relatively decent student despite his... literally explosive tendencies. But he didn't likethat he was being a bully. It was strange trying to read the mood between them whenever they were together. It made the socially awkward child very uncomfortable.

But whenever it was just him and Bakugou the older boy wasn't all that bad. They would often be one of the first few people in the class, and that was when he'd gotten to know him a little bit. He had an ego the size of a mountain but he was a good guy beyond that, even though he had this need to be superior which Yuuma found odd. One shouldn't need to prove themselves all the time if you yourself know your worth. When Yuuma told him that he started to act out less around him. People started to look at him like he was some wonder for that, Yuuma didn't understand what he'd done.

Apparently being emotionally inept was in the family as he'd learned recently. His mom told him about their great-great-great-great-great grandpa being said to be the same way, and that his quirk was super strong. She and Dad had been teaching him about their family's quirks since his personal doctor said he was to be getting his pretty soon. They called him "Mob" because of his extremely ordinary features and less than average physical capabilities, and it ended up becoming his hero name.

One wouldn't even know who it was that saved them, and in the off chance they did, they describe him as being like everyone else in the crowd. He blended to the point where he wouldn't of been the first person you thought of when picturing this almost all powerful psychic hero.

Yuuma was the same in terms of normal looks. His chubby little cheeks and overflowing innocence just made him so very adorable to the point no one would blame a person for wanting to just kidnap him. What made him different from their ancestor was the fact he was extremely smart, to the point of being a genius.

Which was how even though he was only 5, he was in the 3rd grade class with a bunch of 8 and 9 year olds.

Their family produced a lot of psychics, but none had retained the particularly strange and powerful ability that had traits from everything like their ancestor had. At most, only a portion of that power was passed down, with the occasion two which would mix and become something new. Yuuma was eager to see what he'd get, but he didn't dwell on it. He wanted to be a scholar, or a doctor, or a scientist, and those didn't really need a quirk to be involved, even though it helps.

Maybe he could be a hero too? He still wasn't sure...

So, he took out his book of notes he'd been preparing all week for the test he wanted, no, needed to ace for his beloved ice cream outing with his family. The teacher had given everyone twenty minutes to review their notes before the math test was to start, it was a big test that would be the last of the year. Yuuma was studying hard over his messy notes, He was still only 5, his handwriting wasn't exactly up to par with his brain.

"Good morning, Kageyama-chan!" The green-haired boy came up to him. Immediately Yuuma wasn't sure how to respond. It was weird when someone suddenly started up a conversation with him, so he had to collect himself so he wouldn't fumble his words. "Um, H-hello, Midoriya-san."

Midoriya always spoke to him, that's how Yuuma had gotten to know him too. He was mostly reserved, not wanting to socialize with anyone, but he always spoke to Yuuma. Maybe it was because Yuuma was three years younger than everyone that it was so easy to talk to him? Midoriya didn't know, but Yuuma didn't look at him differently for not having a quirk. He was a sweet child.

"Are you ready for the test today?"

"U-um... yeah." Yuuma said in an almost whisper. He was so tiny, yet smart enough to be accelerated through grades. And his love for learning was so cute; Midoriya had once gotten him to keep up a conversation because they were talking about the science of quirks. Kageyama-chan had even helped him fill out pages of his many journals, giving him plausible theories on the different ways certain quirks could possibly be used.

"I'm g-gonna get an A, and get vanilla ice cream!" He demeanor was still shy and awkward, but the determination burning in his eyes couldn't be missed. Midoriya had to resist the urge to react to how cute he was. So... precious... This small, precious human must be protected.

"That's great! Good luck!" He said with a smile. Midoriya was really nice. Yuuma wasn't sure why Bakugou was so mean to him all the time. "You too." He said, still a bit awkward talking to others. Midoriya waved him goodbye as he went back to his seat, and that's when Bakugou came into the classroom.

"H-hey Kacchan..." He said nervously. Obviously uncomfortable that the boy had come in. Bakugou immediately began to scowl. "Don't talk to me, Deku!" He yelled, startling the boy. "Stupid weakling." He scoffed, going to his seat without so much as a another glance at Midoriya. The green haired boy sat back in his seat with a slump, saddened that his former friend had become like this towards him.

Yuuma didn't like it. This... this was wrong. All Midoriya did was greet him, he didn't have to do all of that. For the longest time he'd tried to get him out of doing that, but it always fell on deaf ears. What was his problem with Midoriya? He didn't understand.

He got up from his desk with a strange feeling swirling in his chest. Why was he heading to the explosion kid's desk? Was he insane?! But his legs kept moving, albeit very shakily. "What do you want? I don't have time to deal with you." He said with a scoff and a scowl, staring down at the younger child. Even though the child was nervous, he didn't back down. There was another, stronger feeling that he had in the presence of this meanie. One that overpowered his nerves.

"...Why are you so mean to Midoriya-san, Bakugou-san? It's bad to be mean." He said bluntly. His eyes were dull, but the annoyance was clear.

"Kageyama-chan?! It's okay. you don't have to.." Midoriya stood up, worried. Bakugou's scowl only deepened further. This wasn't the first time Yuuma had ever openly spoken to Bakugou, so the blonde wasn't surprised by the kid addressing him. Kid had guts.

"What? You got a problem, brat? Stay out of it." He scorned. Explosions sparking in his hands. Yuuma instantly regretted speaking up, but his mom told him to not be too scared to do what's right.

"It's mean! Big kids are supposed to be cool, not mean!" This caught the older boy off guard. "So stop being mean!" Yuuma stepped forward, digging deep to find what sliver of courage he had. Katsuki seemed extremely ticked off. But when he looked down at Yuuma all he was seeing was a scared kid trying to stand up too him. Not intimidating.

It was cute. Which for some reason made him significantly less mad than he would normally be.

Yuuma's eyes were always bright. His hair was in a bowl cut that always covered his eyebrows, so one wouldn't always see them. Because of that, he always came off as dull. He was tiny, baby fat still clinging to him heavily. Katsuki wasn't all that tall at the moment either, he was only 8, but Yuuma didn't even reach to his chest. But this tiny person wasn't afraid to give him his honest opinion. He didn't add on to his inflated ego and told him when he was acting stupid. That's how Katsuki had come to start respecting him a bit; everyone else was too scared to do that.

"Beat it, brat. Or I'll blow you up." Katsuki leaned in to the small boy. His hands were sparking violently. "Do you wanna die?" He threatened, his two friends beside him backing up from their obviously pissed off friend, not wanting to be near him when he exploded.

Of course Katsuki wasn't going to actually do anything to this kid. He just wanted to scare him off. His problems with Deku weren't for this kid to get involved in.

"Of course not, but..."

The feeling kept creeping, getting closer. What was his problem?! Why couldn't he be nice to Midoriya? Midoriya is so nice, and smart, even if he doesn't have a quirk. He's so cool! Yet this guy... Yuuma could see that Katsuki was very smart, if you got past his persona, he wasn't actually all that bad to be around. But his complex made it hard for Yuuma to approach him at times.

It was frustrating.

Yuuma had always heard Bakugou talking about being a hero. All of the kids in this third-grade class wanted to be a hero. Even Midoriya who didn't have a quirk. Heroes were people who protected others. That's what his dad said. They protected those who couldn't protect themselves. But Bakugou wasn't doing any of that. It didn't even look like he was putting in any effort to even try. It left a distasteful feeling in his gut.

All the more because Yuuma also had the same respect for Bakugou that Midoriya had. He was gifted, with a strong body, even though he was difficult most of the time. There was true passion when he spoke of his dreams, his determination to be the best. Yuuma wished he could have confidence like that.

"You said you wanted to be a hero when you grow up, right?"

"No shit. I'm going be the best."

Yuuma could feel a rush spreading throughout his entire body. He hadn't noticed what was happening around him. The desk beginning to shake, his hair began to float, and his eyes becoming sharper. The supplies on the desk around them began to float as his eyes narrowed on to the bully in front of him.

All of the respect he had for Bakugou would be wasted if he continued being a bully. He didn't want someone he knew could be good to be bad.

He was going to listen to him this time. Yuuma was annoyed with how many times he'd had to tell him to stop. Bakugou himself wasn't that bad of a kid, if you dismissed his attitude, he was very genuine with himself. If he believed it, he went with it, and nothing was tearing him down from it.

Yuuma thought that was so cool.

Bakugou wanted to prove he was the best by shutting everyone else down. And for some reason, the person he felt the most threatened by was Midoriya, who he knew had the potential to be a great hero with his natural heroism. But he didn't have a quirk, which made that sentiment all the more unacceptable to him.

Why though? What did having a quirk have to do with being a great hero?

"Bakugou-san, being a bully isn't very hero-like. You're being lame, so stop it. You have too much potential to waste it being a jerk."It was like his voice had a different tone to it, if was firm and without hesitation. For the first time, Yuuma was feeling annoyed. It was a new, foreign, and unwelcoming feeling. Yuuma was serious about every word he was saying, and it struck a sensitive chord in Bakugou.

He had to registered what this baby had the balls to say to him. Him, who wanted to be number one. Him, who wanted to be better than All Might, the number one hero. Him, who was the best. He was lame? Who was this kid to think low of him? Did he think he was better than him? No, Bakugou knew that wasn't it. As long as they've been in class together, Bakugou knew Yuuma wasn't like that. Yuuma made sure to nip that thought process in the bud when he told him he wasn't looking down on him.

"How can I look down on you when you're taller than me, Bakugou-san?" He'd said, with the most deadpan expression Katsuki had ever seen as if that information was the most basic of things in the world. That's when he figured out that Yuuma couldn't care less about being above or below anyone else, he hadn't even thought about something like that.

Bakugou was about to retort at this bold kid, that was until he finally noticed everything had started changing in the room, including the kid before him. His jaw slacked as he looked around the room. "What the heck...?"

Yuuma finally seemed to notice that everyone was staring at him and the objects flying around the room. "What is it?" He asked, his confidence instantly gone back to wherever it had come from. His nervous and shy persona had returned, and he was looking at the state of the room.

"What happened to the room? Everything is floating, Bakugou-san..." He whispered, forgetting everything that had been happening prior.

"Yeah," Bakugou answered, forgetting he was supposed to be Hard Bakugou and scoff at everything, "I can see that."

"Whoa, my hair is all wavy! Wait... is my hair supposed to do that, Bakugou-san? Why is it doing that?"

"Aren't you suppose to be super smart?" Hard Bakugou, where hath thy gone? Is the world ending? Who is this and what have they done with Bakugou? "I'm pretty sure you are somehow doing all of this, Brat." He deadpanned at the kid.

"...How do I make it stop?" Yuuma asked, not noticing that Hard Bakugou left the chat.

"Um..." Silence was all that answered him.

The teacher walked in, almost dropping her test papers at the sight she saw. Every object in the room had begun to float, and just as soon as the emotion he'd had went away, everything fell back into place as if nothing happened. His hair went back down, and he was staring at the teacher who had the shocked Pikachu face in utter bewilderment.

"Oh, that's how."

None of his family had ever had something like that happen to them. Nothing that strong. Some had things float, maybe saw things like his mom and dad did, but this? No, even at the tender age of 5, he knew that what had just happened wasn't normal even for quirk, it was way too strong.

...And he'd made everything float.

Was he in trouble? Gasp! Did he do something bad?!

"...D-Did I do something wrong, Sensei? I'm sorrryyy..." Yuuma began to cry, snapping them out of their trance and remembering that this was a 5 year old baby in front of them. As smart as Yuuma was, he was still a young child first and foremost.

"N-no, Yuuma-chan! This is a really good thing! You got your quirk, dear! Congrats!" She said, clapping her hands together.

"Yeah, brat. Be fucking happy." Bakugou said, surprising everyone with how... nice he was being. W-was this Soft Bakugou? He existed?! Wait, no, that's not possible. The world must be ending, some of them even looked outside to see if the skies had split. The students in the class kept their mouths soundly shut. But Yuuma wasn't shocked by this. Bakugou was always like this with him when no one was around, which was why Yuuma knew he wasn't all that bad.

"Language, Bakugou." The teacher reprimanded.

"Tsk." He grunted, sitting back in his seat. "I'll be the best hero you've ever seen, Kageyama. Just watch me." He whispered in a more calm voice. It was quiet, but Yuuma heard it and smiled.

"Yeah!" Yuuma beamed at Bakugou, the older boy having to turn his head to block out the incoming sunshine. Why the heck is this kid so damn bright? Is it part of his quirk or something? Do I need to where shades the next time I see him? These were the questions running around Bakugou's mind.

Truth was, Katsuki didn't hate this kid, even though he came off that way. He was way younger than them and already in their class, and that was all without a quirk; This kid had his respect. Even though he was always getting sick because of his small, weak body, Katsuki didn't tease him for that. That kid worked hard. And the fact that he had the balls to confront him earned him a little more respect. This kid wasn't a wuss like Deku. Deku could talk all day about wanting to be a hero but the only thing he's actually training is his ability to mutter nonstop.

If you want to be a hero so bad try actually training! Bakugou trained his quirk and natural reflexes every chance he got! There's not a speck of muscle on him and he can't fight to save his own life, so how is he suppose to save other people?! It's like he thinks those dumb notebooks of his are going to magically give him a quirk that solves all of his problems. Stupid Deku.

But enough about that annoying nerd, this is about the brat.

His quirk, he'd never seen a quirk that emerged being strong enough to make everything in the class float, even if it was just for a second. His was only a few sparks in his hands when it manifested. But Katsuki still believed himself to be the best. He was going to be the best hero ever.

He couldn't have himself looking lame in front of this brat, now could he? Guess he had a few new things he had to add to his training then.

"The test will begin in a few minutes class! My assistant will be handing them out, good luck everybody! Come on, Yuuma-chan. Let's call your mom and give her the good news!" She took Yuuma to the office to call his family. Normally there wouldn't be any need to do something like this, but the teacher thought otherwise.

His power... it was strong. Way stronger than any 5 year old she'd seen get their quirk. Even now, things were shaking around them, even if the shake was small.

"I'm sorry for disturbing the classroom, Ms. Niko." He said gloomily. She shook her head with a smile. "No worries, Yuuma-chan. Today is a great day, so be happy! You were very brave today, I'm proud of you."

"R-really?" He asked, looking up at her.

"Really really." She assured him. He smiled to himself, and Ms. Niko had to hold in the urge to squeal "So... precious..." She could almost feel the heart attack coming. This child is an angel.

Ms. Niko was holding a hand over her chest. Was she okay? Does she feel tired? "Is there something wrong, Ms. Niko?"

"O-oh nothing." She quickly got back on to her senses and picked up the office phone. Every teacher had to suppress the urge to just kidnap this adorable child.

When Mrs. Kageyama got the call from the elementary school she thought something might of happened to her little boy. It wasn't the first time the teacher had called her at work saying that they're child was sick. He was so frail, easily able to get sick. "Hello, what happened to my baby?! Is he sick again?! I'm coming right now." She said immediately, already getting up to leave.

"It's nothing like that, Mrs. Kageyama! Yuuma-chan got his quirk today! It was a bit overwhelming so I thought it'd be good for him to sit class out for the day until things calmed down." The teacher said over the phone. Mrs. Kageyama was jumping for joy, quickly going to get her husband.

"What is it, honey?"

"Yuu-chan got his quirk today!"

"He did?! Really?!"

"Yes!" They were both jumping for joy. Mrs. Kageyama quickly returned to the phone. "We'll be coming to pick him up, is that okay? What about his test today?"

"He'll take his test with me so he can calm his nerves. As soon as he finishes I'll call you."

"Okay, sounds good." And his teacher got off the phone. Looking down to the young child who was looking to her with big, round and curious eyes. "Come on, let's go finish this test so you can go celebrate."

"Yay!" He said, remembering his motivation. He was going to get an A and get ice-cream!

Ms. Niko had to work very had to suppress the urge to kidnap this adorable child and give him everything in the universe.

Little did he know that this swelling feeling of happiness would disappear soon, replaced with a more traumatic, harrowing emotion. He got an A on his test, and his parents had two things to celebrate that day. Their drive to the ice-cream shop was supposed to be fun.

But it would be the last time he would smile for a very long time.

[A/N] Hi. Hope you are enjoying this story so far. This is my first time writing anything dealing with Mob Psycho powers and My Hero Academia, and I don't know everything there is to know about either of them. But, I've been reading fanfictions with them and I loved them, so I thought I'd make my own. I know it probably won't be the best, but I'm enjoying myself writing this.
