I DREAM OF RAINBOWS
Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.

In the early hours of the morning Charlie was finally able to fall asleep. He came to a decision that he would put into action immediately after getting to the office later in the morning.
CHAPTER 41: CHARLIE, WHAT ARE YOU UP TO
Charlie got up early and was dressed then out the door long before Bella was awake. He didn't want to have to face her again right at that moment before he was able to deal with what he was planning to do. He had a phone call to make and then other details to get into place before carrying through with the decision he had made the night before.
The call he needed to make couldn't be done anywhere that stood a chance of Bella overhearing what he was planning to do. So, it called for him to head into the station early to be able to move forward with things.
So, out the door he went and surprised everyone as he was walking into the door during shift change. With a quickly hello to everyone he continued to his office. Closing the door after himself, Charlie sat down behind his desk as he reached for the phone to make his call.

Emmett and Rosalie had left Alice's home rather late and they returned to Rosalie's where Emmett spent a delightful night with his lady. The only complaint he had the next morning was when he awoke to an empty, cold bed and couldn't find Rosalie anywhere. She seemed to have disappeared.
Getting up he walked down to the living area and then moved on to the kitchen since he hadn't been able to find her so far. She was in the kitchen talking on the phone with someone when he entered and moved to make a cup of coffee for himself since he saw that Rosalie already had a cup.
As he listened, he realized that she was finalizing some arrangements for her modeling assignment that she would be doing a little later in that morning.
As she hung up and turned to face him, Emmett grumbled, "Can't you just take the day off to spend with me?"
"No. I've made commitments before you and I got together. I have to honor them." She told him in a no-nonsense tone that didn't leave any room for him to complain any further. Then she added, "Would you want me to treat my commitment to your project in the same manner as what you're asking me to do to other professionals?"
"No, but things are in such a mess right now with what is going on with Edward that I just don't want to be alone." Emmett gave her his honest answer.
"I know, Em, but you have your family with which all of you can get together and begin to plan just what the hell you all can do to help him out of this mess."
"Do you really mean that with what you believe Edward did to Bella?"
"Yes, I do. Now, finish your coffee and let me start getting ready." Rosalie answered as she placed her empty coffee cup in the dishwasher and left Emmett alone in the kitchen after giving him a passionate kiss that expressed more than her words could ever convey.
Emmett was left in a stunned state for several moments after Rosalie had departed the room. Once he managed to gain control of himself again, he rose and left Rosalie's without another word being said, but with a damn big ass smile on his face. To him that one kiss conveyed all of the feelings that he wanted from his girl.

Jasper rose thinking about all that had been discussed the night before where Edward and his possible actions were concerned. He found it hard to believe that his brother could have behaved so offhandedly towards Bella Swan like Alice and Rosalie were thinking. But it was possible because of the way Edward had been behaving towards the woman even when they were in Seattle and he had warned Mark Strollman about how Edward was with women.
But now he wondered if that warning had something to do with the current situation that his family was having to deal with.
Realizing that Alice was no where in sight, he listened and heard the quiet noise going on from the kitchen. He knew from what Alice had told him before that she wasn't much of a cook; in fact, she mentioned that it took Bella to teach her how not to burn water as she had put it. However, she was able to make a mean cup of coffee he had learnt upon prior visits to Alice's home.
As he made it to the kitchen door, he paused for a moment just to observe the woman of his heart. She was everything he had dreamed of the love of his life being, but somehow Alice was more; oh, so much more. She was high energy, but loving, loyal and kindhearted. Alice was very giving and extremely honest.
The lady of his thoughts turned and noticed Jasper standing in the kitchen door staring at her.
"Why are you staring at me like that?" She asks quietly, not quite sure what his problem might be.
"Just realizing what a lucky man I am with you loving me." He answered as he began walking toward her. Coming to a stop in front of her, Jasper reaches out to gently stroke a finger down her cheek before leaning in to begin a slow kiss that quickly turns into one of heated passion.
It is with a soft groan that Alice pulls back from the man that has had her attention from the moment she had first laid eyes upon him months before in Seattle. And, as Jasper leans forward to try to begin another kiss, Alice stops him by pulling back further from him.
"What's wrong?" He asks of her, but all Alice does is shake her head and turns from him.
"I called Bella this morning and had a very interesting conversation with her. She told me about a disagreement she was having with her dad and I must say that I have to agree with her side of the argument." That was all that Alice had to say for the moment as she was unsure about how much Jasper needed to know just then. She knew that before she said anything else, she wanted the chance to talk with Rosalie.
Rosalie would be able to know how to handle the information that Bella had told her this morning. They needed to be in total agreement as to how much they should or shouldn't tell the Cullen's. And Alice also wondered how the hell her Uncle Charlie could have done such a thing before talking with Bella.
During the time that Alice seemed to be lost in her thoughts, Jasper continued to watch her closely. He hoped that she would tell him what seemed to be troubling her, but he knew that it wouldn't happen. Not that she didn't trust him, but she needed time to consider whatever the situation might be before she discussed it with someone else.
"Jasper, I know that you're curious about what is on my mind, but I don't have time to go into details right now. I've got a small emergency going on down at the office." Alice told him as she moved to leave the kitchen and head toward her bedroom so she could begin to get ready.
Both Jasper and Alice left at the same time going in two different directions, however, both feeling the same emotions of uncertainty, but for different reasons.

Bella woke up and wandered downstairs looking for her dad but found the house empty. Not finding a note, Bella wondered where her dad might be for the moment and then had the idea to call the station to see if Charlie had been on duty already.
It didn't take long to find out from the dispatcher that her dad was there but had been on and off the phone since the time he got in that morning. She asked to speak with him but was told that the Chief was on the phone and had issued orders that he wasn't to be disturbed by anyone. So, Bella decided she would fix herself some breakfast and then head down to the station to see what Charlie had decided to do about Edward Cullen; if anything at all had been decided or he had changed his opinion concerning the charges brought against Edward.
She was still pissed off at her dad, but she still loved him; after all he was her dad and had raised her. She understood his reasoning for pulling such a stunt, however, in her opinion he didn't have the right do what he did without consulting with her first.
Bella got busy getting her breakfast ready and got lost in her thoughts at the same time about where her new book was going. Because of that she lost track of time which caused her to be late getting down to the station to talk with one Charlie Swan.
Once she got there, she was told that the Chief had left about an hour earlier and no one knew where he was going. All he had told anyone was that he would be gone for a day or two.
Now she wondered as to what her dad was up to.

Edward was starting to realize the amount of trouble that he was truly in. After his conversation with the detectives earlier and then with his dad, Edward knew that he had been wrong in not calling his family in the beginning. The one thing that seemed to continually bother him was where he was told that Isabella Swan had nothing to do with the situation that he now found himself to be in.
He was having to face the fact that he was going to be picked up any day and hauled off to Seattle for something he didn't do. True, he had been careless in his attitude and treatment of women, and was about to do the same thing to Isabella Swan. And, truth be spoken, he had been well on the way to being the same with her, however, every step of the way she fought him off and walked off as the winner of each and every round leaving him looking like a jackass and with him wanting more.
Her actions had only made him more determined to conquer her and make her submit to his desires and demands. He figured that by doing that then the situation would be the same as with all of his other stand-by's and he would have her out of his system until HE wanted HER.
Edward let his mind wander back through the past as he remembered all of his conquests and his treatment of each. He was doing this until he finally fell asleep.

Charlie arrived in Los Angeles and checked into his hotel without letting Bella or his two nieces know where he was. This trip was a factfinding trip and Charlie was wanting answers from the only person that could honestly provide them to him. At least, he was hopeful that the person would be honest in his answers to Charlie's questions.
Charlie had his plans thought out and was ready to go and see the one person he had come to see. Of course, he wasn't going to reveal his true identity and was using the fake identification that had been given to him when he did some undercover work for the FBI a couple of years ago.
To his way of thinking, by asking questions through this method he thought that it was likely he would be able to have honest answers from the individual he was determined to see and talk to.
