[A/N] You can also consider this chapter a sort of time skip chapter. The next chapter we will officially be at the start of the anime! Yay!

Bakugou and Midoriya were on even rockier terms than before. Ever since Yuuma left without a word, no one's been able to be the middle man between them. So for the most part, they just leave each other alone. There's the occasional argument, a few scuffles here and there, but mostly they leave each other be.

The teacher came in, looking to be talking to someone just outside the door. He went up to the podium at the front of the class, getting everyone's attention.

"Class," The teacher began, "We'll be getting a special new student today. I want you all to be nice, he's a few years younger than all of you. Come on in, Kageyama."

When they heard that name both of them perked up. It couldn't be the same Kageyama, right? But their doubts vanished when a small kid with a bowl cut and dull, round eyes came into the room. He was barely 4'2, baby fat still clinging to his cheeks. He walked into the classroom and everyone could see the nervous shaking and the subtle sweat on his brow. Soon enough, he'd made his way to the podium.

"U-um... Hi." His voice was soft. "I-I'm Kageyama Yuuma, I'm an accelerated transfer student. Um... I'm 11 years old, and um... It's nice to meet you all. P-please take care of me." He bowed, breathing out a sigh of relief that he didn't completely butcher his introduction.

Meanwhile, the class except for two individuals had one collective thought:

"HE'S ADORABLE!" All of the girls were gushing about how cute this child was. And boys were jealous that the girls were cooing at his obvious innocence. They noticed that he didn't smile very much, but oddly enough that just added to his cute factor. If he did smile, they thought they'd be collectively blinded by how bright it'd be.

There were only two people in the class that had different thoughts: Bakugou and Midoriya. The 14 year olds watched as Kageyama went to his assigned seat in silence, not letting off any emotion. His once bright eyes were dulled considerably, and the sunshine and sparkles that used to come off him because of his eager and happy demeanor were all but gone.

He was closed off, and the older boys couldn't help but wonder what happened to him while he was away.

"Hey Kageyama-chan, It's been a while." The boy looked up, seeing a familiar head of curly green hair. His eyes shone with recognition, just barely lighting up.

"Midoriya-san! You got so big..." He said in awe. Yuuma was still tiny. Even Ritsu had out grown him. He felt so puny in this room full of big teenagers.

"I'm taller than that shitty Deku!" Bakugou chipped in, causing the boy to jump and turn around, instantly recognizing the ash blond.

"Bakugou-san!" He said, his eyes lighting up some more. He knew people in the class! There were people he knew, he wasn't alone! Bakugou huffed proudly at the recognition. Of course the brat hadn't forgotten someone as awesome as he was.

Yuuma felt happy, even though they were much bigger than when he remembers them. Now he really has to look up to meet their eyes. Do they drink milk like he does? Wait, but how come he isn't any bigger even though he always drinks milk? Would he be as big as they were when he got older? He could only hope.

"Where the hell have you been, brat? Why'd you just up and leave without a word?" He said, more calmly than the people around him were used to. Wait, Bakugou was calm? Towards the new kid, who was basically a baby? Deciding they were hearing things and going insane, the other students tuned out the conversation.

Midoriya and Bakugou wondered what happened to Yuuma for a while now. When he left, and their 3rd grade teacher took the call with the classroom's phone, she looked obviously distraught. So much so that she left the class with their substitute teacher. Two weeks later, she told them that Yuuma wouldn't be coming back to their class, and that he moved away. Why? She didn't say, more like she was too sad to say why.

What happened?

The only thing they new was that an incident happened, and it was briefly on the news before police wrapped it up. Even Midoriya, who was a hero fanatic, could only put bits and pieces together. The only thing they knew was that a lot of people died, including the villain responsible. And that a hero team called Dual Omniscience died as well. Their names weren't public as normal heroes were, so not much else was known.

After a few years, as they grew from kids to teens, they boys put together that Kageyama had been one of the many unfortunate enough to get caught up in the incident. Something happened, something bad, but they didn't have the answers.

"I was in Seasoning City with my Aunt and cousin. My quirk wasn't stable after..."

40%

He pause, his mood visibly worsening before he schooled it and continued, "so I was homeschooled while my aunt helped me with my control. We just moved back a few weeks ago..." He trailed off again, becoming a little nervous under their gaze, but they both got the gist of it. It was painfully obvious and the two were quick to tell him he didn't have to say anymore.

They were right. Something terrible happened. What it was exactly, they didn't know, but it was bad nonetheless. They didn't want to press him any further than that, knowing that it had to be a sensitive subject for him.

"Tsk." Bakugou said, turning around to pay attention to the lesson. He hid it well, but Yuuma could tell from his energy that he was happy to see him again. But he could also tell that him and Midoriya still didn't get along, but at least they weren't at each others throats anymore.

"Hey, Kageyama-chan, what is your quirk? Is it okay for me to add you into my book?" Yuuma stared at him for a second, the green haired boy instantly sputtering apologies. "I-I'm s-sorry! Y-you don't have t-to if you don't—"

"It's... complicated." He started, really thinking about it. "The simplest way I could put it is that I'm an esper." He said calmly. "My quirk revolves around psychic energy, I think? I can do a lot of stuff with it." Yuuma could see Midoriya's eyes light up with a curious fire as he began to furiously write down things in his notebook, the mutter storm growing to insane proportions.

"Um, M-Midoriya-san? Are you okay?" Yuuma asked, breaking Midoriya away from his thoughts.

"He always does that. Fucking nerd." Bakugou answered frustratingly, Midoriya growing red with embarrassment as he apologized again for his bad habit. Yuuma let a small smile slip by him. They hadn't changed. No, they matured, but were still the same. He was happy they were like this, he was happy to be back home.

His time at school was an experience. His day would start with the girls in his class asking him lots of questions about what he liked, his quirk which he found odd, and how he could manage to hold a normal conversation with the infamous Bakugou Katsuki which he found just outright strange.

Yeah he sets off explosions every other day, yeah he was crass at times, but he wasn't a bad guy. Although he still singled out Midoriya, which Yuuma obviously didn't like, but at least they weren't outright fighting each other.

And then there was how people treated Midoriya. They ostracized him, and picked on him because he didn't have a quirk. There were bullies everywhere around him, and Yuuma didn't like it one bit. He'd already gotten on Bakugou about it, and although it seemed like it went in one ear and out the other one, he ceased with his antics.

For everyone else, he made his opinion clear.

"If you want to be heroes so bad stop acting like villains. Bullying makes you look stupid." He said dully to the bullies.

45%

They were taken aback by this small kid telling them off, and tried to turn their sights on him. But he also nipped that in the bud when he made them float, holding them in their attacking position, while he got the principle and reported them. "Like I said: Stupid."

On top of being caught in the act by several of what Bakugou calls his "fangirls", which Yuuma didn't understand because he wasn't some type of idol, and camera footage supporting all of the witnesses claims, the bullies ended up getting a harsh punishment.

Because Yuuma used his quirk in an act of self defense against older boys who were openly trying to use their quirk to hurt him, he did not receive any punishment. He was actually praised for his actions and got compliments on his quirk. To say that Yuuma did not like this was an understatement, and he made his stance on what they were doing very clear.

"If this is preferential treatment because my quirk seems strong to you then I must ask that you please stop. I hope that you are not treating students unfairly because of your biases on quirks, that isn't nice or fair. This is a place of learning, where students should feel safe, but all I've seen if bullying and prejudice. I'm going to report this if it doesn't change within the next two weeks. You know who my Aunt is, correct?"

They all visibly shivered at how cold this child in front of them had become within that split second. Then the dread sank in because yes, they knew exactly who his aunt was. They had met her during his orientation when he applied to be transferred in to the school, and to say that she was terrifying was an understatement. If she found anything wrong, they were not going to escape with a slap on the wrist.

From that day on, no one tried again, and some teachers changed their tunes. And for some reason certain boys who had it out for Midoriya avoided him and Yuuma altogether, like they were scared of him. Why though? All he did was report bullying, if they don't do anything stupid he won't do anything to them. Of course, that didn't meant that all of them changed, and the ones that were still performing their prejudices were promptly reported by Yuuma, who's aunt worked in law enforcement.

Let's just saw that she had connections, and that those connections amended certain laws to better serve justice to the populace, and that those teachers were not seen or heard from again.

The boys respected him for being brave and smart, the girls added more pluses to their endless adoration of him. He was their personification of cute and strong. The more they spent time with him, the more they could decipher him, and the cuter he got.

When they first saw him, they thought he was precious. But when they got to know him, it was confirmed he was the most precious. And they banded together, becoming the "Yuuma Protection Squad". After that first incident with the bullies, they made it their duty to keep them away from their precious Yuuma-chan! Bullying within the school dropped drastically, and the days went by more peacefully than ever.

And then there was the day they found out he loved vanilla milk, the vanilla flavor in general, and all hell broke loose. His protection squad, which he knew nothing about mind you, he thought they were just a bunch of kind girls that were in his class, began holding an entire ritual before lunch was to come.

Yuuma knew nothing of any of this, and the protection squad thought that this was precious. God, he was too pure for this world, their class didn't deserve an angel such as Yuuma-chan. Yes, an absolute angel he was. They were determined to keep their little protection squad a secret from him. They shall protect his beautiful innocence from the shadows.

Yes. They needed to formulate a way to give him the entire universe. But, since they knew they couldn't do that, they did the next best thing: Give him his favorite flavor milk.

Everyday at lunch the girls would ban together to make sure he had that milk, which was popular. Each day they would vote on who would have the honor and privilege, much to Bakugou's annoyance, Midoriya's fascination, and Yuuma's confusion. When the lucky girl was decided, the others would make sure that no one could get near the machine until the desired beverage was bought, and that girl would personally give Yuuma-chan, their precious little Yuuma-chan, his favorite flavor milk.

And their prize? Watching his round eyes light up at the sight of it made their collective hearts swell with pride at their wonderful deed. That wonderful little smile and the embarrassed pink that dusted on his cheeks as he thanks the lucky girl for the gift, asking them if they were sure he can have it.

Ah... this precious angel. This innocent, darling being before them. Must protect...

"Yes, Kageyama-chan! It's perfectly okay! I had an extra one, and I know you like that flavor so I decided to give it to you." The girls secretly watching from afar could see his face light up.

"T-thank you..." He whispered softly, gazing upon his beverage. Ah... the blinding innocent light! They were unworthy! His satisfied face when he was finished was absolute bliss. They have done a good deed, God will thank them in the afterlife...

But that day didn't end well for them.

Class was continuing on, but a certain ball of innocence hadn't said anything since lunch. His face looked pale, and he was sweating a bit. "Kageyama-chan, are you feeling okay? You look a little pale..." Midoriya asked. Midoriya sat just across from Yuuma, so he could clearly see that the younger boy was distressed.

Bakugou, hearing the usually stuttering mess of a Deku ask something like that without his usual nervousness got his attention. When he peaked over to see the younger boy he noticed too. Bakugou was on the other side of him, Yuuma acting as their middleman. Katsuki and Izuku were on high alert, neither of them realizing that they'd been overcome with the same level of protectiveness over the younger boy.

"Oi, brat. Are you sick?" He asked, more calm than he normally is. And was that a hint of worry in his voice? Over the few weeks that Yuuma had been at their school, they made the theory that Bakugou had a soft spot for the kid. Why, where, when, and how?

How?

Some looked to the skies waiting patiently for them to split. How?

No one knew, but the Innocent Angel of Aldera had managed to do it. He had unlocked a softer side of the Bakugou Katsuki. Was that what they were really seeing? The gossip mongers had yet to get that solid evidence to prove their "A Soft Bakugou Does Exist" theory, and they cared for their lives just enough to not linger around him to try and find out.

"I-I don't know..." He answered weakly. "I'm dizzy and my stomach hurts. I'm going to ask to go to the nurse..." He raised his hand to ask, getting the teacher's attention.

60%

"Yes, Kageyama?" He asked, now noticing that there was a problem.

"I don't feel well..." He couldn't finish that statement before he started to fall out of his seat. Katsuki noticed immediately and his reflexes kicked in.

"Oi!" Katsuki caught him before he could hit the floor, and everyone was in an uproar. The girls were panicking as their precious Yuuma-chan fainted! Even the boys in the class were worried. "Oi! Get ahold of yourself!" Katsuki tried to wake him up, but as soon as he touched his skin he could feel that it was abnormally warm.

He didn't wait for the teacher to understand what was happening before he had the kid in his arms bridal style and carried him to the nurse's office. Annoying Deku was right behind him, but Katsuki didn't care about that. They were at the nurse's office within the next five minutes, and the nurses were on Yuuma faster than the explodaboi could blink!

After checking everything, they determined that it was food poisoning. Katsuki was absolutely livid because he knew exactly where he could've gotten it. Deku stayed with Yuuma, the younger boy holding his hand. Deku was keeping him calm since the kid was out of it and things had started floating indicating Yuuma's distress.

Everyone present began to notice that stuff had started to float around the room, and it could only be assumed that Yuuma was losing the delicate grip he had on his quirk because he was sick. Deku was soothing him, managing to calm the scared child down enough for him to regain his delicate control.

Yep, Katsuki saw red.

Someone had to DIE.

Explosions were rampaging in his palms as he stormed back into classroom, eyeing a certain group of dumbass fangirls. "You dumb broads!" He hit the desk of the particular girl who'd given Yuuma the milk. "It's all your fault, you cult fucks! I'll fucking kill you!" Explosions shot off as he was about to make good on his promise.

"Bakugou!" The teacher regained his remaining brain cell.

"What!" He exploded back, not giving a damn if that it was his teacher or not.

"No quirks during class! Now sit down in your seat before I write you up! It will go on your record." The teacher said with finality. Katsuki needed his record clean if he was going to get into Yuuei. But someone also needed to DIE, specifically this broad in front of him.

He grumbled curses for a long, pregnant minute before he finally sat back down. The teacher called the nurse's office to check, being informed that Yuuma wouldn't be participating in the rest of class that day. Midoriya had stayed with the boy until he finally rested, and his aunt was called to pick him up.

From that day on, Yuuma no longer accepted the vanilla milk from the girls, and the girls put a strike on the beverage machine that sold the milk so hard that the cafeteria ended up getting rid of it altogether.

Oh, and it was now proven fact that Bakugou Katsuki did indeed have a soft spot for one Kageyama Yuuma. They hung out a lot more after that incident than they previously did. Eventually, it became natural to see them together. Because of this, however, Yuuma's fans could no longer come anywhere near him without the possibility guarantee of them getting blasted into oblivion.

He also hung out with Midoriya a lot more often too. They would have lunch together and would often work on class projects with one another. It was common to see the two going back and forth about the various uses of different quirks, the green haired boy filling out his notebooks with their numerous discoveries and theories.

Because of how much they hung out, Yuuma proceeded to start calling both Bakugou and Midoriya "nii" instead of "san". To him it was like having older brothers around, so it felt right calling them with that add on. The added familiarity made both of them swell with silent pride. Midoriya was openly happy. Bakugou will never admit that he was happy too, ever. No one will ever find out.

Unless that someone was Yuuma who could visibly see when a person was happy or sad based on the energy they emit. And when the younger boy eventually started using their first names? It became even more obvious.

Those two might not of been on the best of terms all the time, but they had one common denominator between them that made being around each other bearable. A younger boy they mutually wanted to protect from the world: Yuuma Kageyama.

[A/N] Katsuki will never admit that he is soft for Yuuma. It didn't happen, you saw nothing, end of discussion. We are finally at the beginning of the anime! Also, I hope that me switching between first, last, and nicknames isn't confusing. I'll stick to one if it is.

Hope you've been enjoying it so far! See you next chapter.
