I DREAM OF RAINBOWS
Disclaimer: The Cullen's, the Swans, and most of the characters mentioned in the story that are known from Stephanie Meyer's beloved Twilight Saga, are all hers and hers alone. I neither have nor wish to pass them off as mine. I do appreciate the fact that she did bring them to life and allows us to play with them in our imaginations. The only thing I will claim is the current storyline.
The awesome and talented dowlingnana searched out my errors and corrected them.
That was when Alice explained all that Jasper had just told her. While she was listening to what Alice had to tell her, Bella sank down into her chair due to the surprise that was being delivered to her.
CHAPTER 48: HELLO, SEATTLE
Edward had been true to his word; he didn't cause any problems for the two officers that were escorting him to Seattle. The flight came and went without a single hitch, that is until it was time to get into the police cruiser that would take them to the Seattle jail. That was when Edward questioned the reason why he was being put back into handcuffs. He started getting a little belligerent with the two officers.
"I kept my word and didn't create any problems or try to escape." He stated. Then asked as plainly as possible, "Why are you putting this shit back on me? Haven't I proven that I can be trusted to keep my word?"
"Cullen, it's regulations. We truly really have no choice in the matter. As much as we appreciate the fact that you were cooperative on the way back, we do still have to follow regulations once we are back in Seattle."
The other officer that had remained silent most of the time that he had been in Edward's presence, finally spoke, "Mr. Cullen, my partner is correct. Removing the handcuffs in L. A. and for the duration of the journey back to Seattle was strictly at our discretion, but once back home we have to make sure that the prisoner is secure with no possibility of being able to escape. Or, we have to act in the manner that doesn't leave any of us open for a complaint being filed against us in that area.
"Once we get you booked, and you get situated then you'll be able to contact anyone that you want and that does include calling your attorney that you might have on standby here.
"But until that time, we have to do things by the book, both for your protection and ours, no matter whether we're happy about it or not. That's just the way things are."
From that point onward Edward remained silent, even when he was being processed into the Seattle jail. However, once he was put into population, Edward made a beeline to the phone.

"Damn, Alice are you sure about your facts?" Bella asked after Alice had finished telling her all that Jasper had reported. "You're sure that Edward Cullen has been extradited back here to Seattle? That his parents are about to board a plane to come here as well?"
"Bella, this whole thing is a damn mess and I'm not sure how it can be fixed. However, to answer your questions, yes, I'm sure about Edward being taken to Seattle and that his parents are getting ready to fly to Seattle, but I don't know what time their flight is leaving." Alice uttered with some distress coming through in her voice. Then she added, "We need to get all of this straightened out so the movie project of your book can continue.
"This affects not only you, but both Rosalie and myself. That movie part that Rosalie was trying out for was for the lead in the movie from your book and I've been offered the contract to do the costumes for the movie. We all three will be working together for the first time and I can tell you that Rosalie and I are looking forward to it. Or, at least, we were until this mess got stirred up."
"Stop fretting, cuz, I'm going to make sure that things are handled, and I can tell you that Dad is working to get everything fixed, also. He never thought that by doing his job that he would be stirring up such a hornet's nest as what has been done. He's definitely sorry about that." Bella told her cousin with a bit of a chuckle as she remembered the recent talk, she and Charlie had just the day before.
"Bella, is there anything that you can do that could help get this mess finished and then we can get back to a bit of normalcy?"
"I don't know, but I promise to give it some thought. However, do you think that you can find out what flight the older Cullen's will be on? I think Dad and I might need to be at Sea-Tac to meet them when they do land."
"That's a great idea." Alice expressed her enthusiasm over the idea. Then she said that she would get the information and get it back to Bella as quickly as possible.
After Bella had finished talking with Alice, she stood in thought for a moment or so then decided to call her dad. Once she dialed his number, she glanced at the clock and realized that Charlie had been gone longer than what she had thought that it had seemed.
It seemed to take forever before Charlie answered his phone and Bella was about ready to hang up when he did finally answer. She immediately launched into the reason of why she had called without giving him a chance to even say hello. "Dad, I just received a call from Alice letting me know that Edward Cullen has been extradited to Seattle and that his parents are going to be flying in later this afternoon.
"I think that we both should be at the airport to meet his parents once they arrive."
Charlie didn't say anything for a pause or two after Bella had finished telling him why she was calling. "Sweetheart, I already knew of Edward Cullen being picked up in L. A. and being brought back to Seattle. That was part of the reason why I left so early this morning. I needed to see about getting some things taken care of to be able to help get this mess fixed for everyone concerned.
"I got a good attorney for him that has gone down to the jail to talk with Cullen. In fact, he should be there now to begin working on Cullen's case.
"But if you think we should be meeting with his parents then meet with them we shall." Charlie told Bella. It wasn't something that he was readily looking forward to doing, but at this point to move things towards a happy conclusion, he didn't really have a choice. He didn't want to do anything that might make things go backwards in regards to getting things back to normal with his daughter.
Charlie had considered trying to talk with the District Attorney but decided against doing that since the warning that after what he had pulled in L. A. talking with Edward Cullen that he could be called as a witness against Cullen. No, it was probably better that he didn't go that route, Charlie thought to himself.
Looking at his watch, Charlie knew that he had better get a move on to head back to Bella's so he could change clothes and they head to the airport. Since the place was between Seattle and Tacoma it would take some time to get there and then to locate the older Cullen's.

Emmett took Carlisle and Esme to LAX, arriving in plenty of time to be able to check in and make it through security to make their flight to Seattle. He gave both of his parents a hug and told them to be sure to keep him and Jasper up to date about what was happening with Edward.
"If we need to be there for him; then we'll be on the next flight to Seattle. But I really believe that everything is going to turn out okay." He told his parents. "Be sure to let Edward know that we are supporting him."
"Don't worry, son, we believe that everything is going to be okay. You and Jasper take care of business here and that will be a big load off of all of our minds." Carlisle told Emmett before shaking his hand and then turning to slip his arm around his wife's waist and they turned to leave.
There was nothing else that Emmett could do so he left to go back to the office and to talk with Jasper.

Alice didn't hesitate to give Rosalie a quick call to bring her up to date about the discussion with Bella. Then she was going to call Jasper and let him know that Bella was going to be meeting Carlisle and Esme at the airport once they landed in Seattle.
Also, from what Bella had told Alice, Charlie was trying to help to get the whole mess cleared up as well. Hopefully that information would help to reassure both Jasper and Emmett about the fate of their brother.

Edward wasn't long in the general population when his name was called to let him know that his attorney was there to speak with him.
This, of course, was news to him. He wasn't even aware that his parents had had enough time to find, let alone hire a good attorney for him. However, Edward sure in the hell wasn't going to question things at this point. He just wanted to get all of this shit behind him and be able to move on. Once he was free then he could take time to make a decision about what he wanted to do about one Isabella Swan.
Edward was shown into a consultation room and came face to face with a man that had salt and pepper hair, a few wrinkles around the eyes, and a lively sparkle in his eyes, he stood about five feet nine with a bit of a pudgy stomach and a little bald spot on the back of his head.
The man had been sitting at the table looking over some paperwork when the guard had opened the door to motion for Edward to enter the room. Rising the man walked around the table while extending a hand to greet Edward.
"Mr. Cullen, my name is Jason Jenks and I've been retained by a person that you know as Sean Winston to represent you. Do you have any objections to accepting these arrangements?"
This information surprised Edward but was proof to him that Mr. Winston had been telling him the truth about planning to try to help him to get this mess fixed. However, with hearing the clearing of a throat, Edward realized that he had zoned out for a moment or so. He brought his attention back to the man that had evidently returned to his seat at the table while Edward had been zoned out and answered, "No, I definitely do not have any objection to the arrangements that Mr. Winston has made. I am happy to let you represent me in this matter."
"Good. Now, let's get down to the business at hand. Mr. Winston told me all that you had told him about this entire situation, but Mr. Cullen, I want to hear everything directly from you. Leave nothing out, even if it seems to be unimportant."
So, with that said, Edward did begin from the beginning and told Mr. Jenks everything that he had told Mr. Winston. During the whole time he had been speaking Mr. Jenks was busily making notes on the notepad that he had in front of him on the table.
"Okay, now let me ask you why you never thought to have medical help summoned to aid Ms. Swan? Surely you had some concern about her condition considering that she was unconscious?" Mr. Jenks asked and then explained that these would be questions that the D. A. would be wanting answered.
"However, Mr. Cullen, I'll be raising an objection since the incident didn't occur in Seattle and really has no direct baring on the charges you're facing here.
"I really don't think that we're going to have too much to worry about where your case is concerned, but so that we are prepared, I still need your answers."
"Mr. Jenks, to be honest with you, I never gave any serious thought to how badly Ms. Swan might be injured. I thought she might be tipsy from doing some heavy drinking and that the bump into the wall only disabled her for a short time.
"To my way of thinking I thought she was more passed out from being drunk than anything else. Then, to be honest, I didn't want to take the chance that anyone would know that I had been involved with backing into Ms. Swan and that that was what had sent her into the wall.
"I believed that I was doing the right thing by taking her back into the room that she had just exited instead of leaving her in the hallway of the hotel. To me she seemed to be sneaking out of her agent's room and didn't want to be seen doing the walk of shame, if you catch my meaning.
"I really thought that I was doing her, well, everyone, a favor and had no idea that anything was really wrong with her." Edward stumbled through trying to explain his actions to Mr. Jenks.
"Mr. Cullen, I think that we won't have too much trouble getting all of this behind you. However, you are going to have to get your thinking straightened out concerning how you approach and treat women. The playboy lifestyle will only carry you so far and only for so long." And, with that said Jenks rose, shook hands with Edward once more after telling him that he would be in touch and left.
The guard escorted Edward back to his cell block, and Edward was feeling more assured of the outcome of things than what he had before meeting Mr. Winston and Jenks.
A/N: Edward is starting to be honest about why he handled things with way he did when he accidentally knocked Bella unconscious in the hotel. However, his thoughts of still getting even with Bella haven't changed. How will the meeting go with Bella and Charlie meeting the older Cullen's at the airport?
Thanks for reading and looking forward to hearing from you.
