"…It's called, 'Quantum Leap'." John said from the pilot seat in the Jumper. "There's this guy called Samuel Beckett who jumps from person to person. He's trying to get home and the only connection he has from there is this hologram guy called Al."
Ronon and Teyla gave each other confused looks. "How is it that you know about this? Was it some kind of government project?" Teyla asked.
Rodney snorted in amusement and John just smiled. "Not exactly. It was on TV when I was growing up."
"Ah." Teyla said, in a voice that meant that she was even more confused.
"Television is…is…" John said, trying to come up with a way to explain TV.
"It's a box that transmits images into people's homes." Rodney said, rolling his eyes. TV wasn't that hard to explain. It's not like it was brain surgery or theoretical astrophysics. Things that actually required the use of brain cells. "People on Earth sit in front of it all the time, watching all the junk that's on. That's why so many people are becoming overweight; they just sit around all the time watching reruns of 'Baywatch'."
"So people just sit and watch this box for hours at a time?" Ronon asked, trying to understand the concept of TV. The people on Earth were still a mystery to him.
Twenty-six hours later…
"An' how are we feelin'?" Carson asked walking up to where Ronon was resting and picking up his chart.
"Fine." Ronon said, scowling. He hated the fact that Elizabeth had shot him and that he hadn't been able to stop her or Sheppard before that.
Carson could sense Ronon's restlessness and said, "Don' worry, I'll release you within the next two days."
Ronon's mood slightly improved with that statement and Carson walked away, writing some notes on the clipboard. The doors swished open and Carson saw Teyla enter.
"Oh, hello Teyla." He said.
"Hello, how is John?" Teyla asked.
"Doin' fine, he's restin' now." Carson said. Teyla nodded but didn't head over to where John was.
"Is there anythin' else?" Carson asked.
"Did Samuel ever make it home?" she asked.
"Who?" Carson asked, confused.
"Your relative, Samuel Beckett. Was he ever able to make it home?"
It took a minute or two for Carson to realize who Teyla was talking about. When he did, Carson just shook his head, much to Teyla's confusion, and walked over to where John was. Seeing the grin on his face it wasn't hard to figure out that he had overheard Teyla's question. "Not one bloody word." Carson said, narrowing his eyes at John.
"Aw come on, you got to give her kudos for making the connection." John said with a grin.
"You try hearing that question from every wanker who thinks he's a bloody comedian." Carson retorted. John just grinned even bigger and Carson walked away rolling his eyes. Given the events of the past day, Carson knew that people were going to beat that joke to death.
