Chapter 1: Woke Up
The silence of the bedroom was shattered with the slam of the headboard against the wall, the wood from the bed frame creaking as it rocked back and forth with their movements. Hinata let out a whimper from a closed mouth as he slammed inside her from behind, his thighs smacking against her own, and his hands squeezing around her hips so hard that she was certain there would be bruises blooming later. As the bed rocked and rocked, Hinata's expression wrinkled further into a cringe, her lips parting to reveal grinding teeth and her hands clenching the bedspread tight.
Ow, ow, ow, she cried out a quick mantra in her mind, her eyes snapping wide and near tearful as he began a series of especially rough thrusts while groaning nonsense above her. Hinata bit her lip, trying to keep herself from crying out in pain. The thrust of his cock inside her, over and over, was feeling less like a slide and too much like a scrape to her insides. When he'd kissed randomly a few minutes ago and dragged her back to their bedroom, he'd decided to forgo the foreplay and just shove his cock in her as soon as her shorts were down and her white vest was undone to reveal her breasts.
Hinata had known it wouldn't feel good, but this was the first time he'd touched her in months and she couldn't pass up such a rare moment of his attention. She'd thought she could put up with it, that the attention alone would be enough to make it feel good.
But she'd been wrong, Hinata realized this with a few tears rolling from her eyes, her mouth kept closed so she could repress a painful sob. However, it wasn't long before it got too painful, and then she couldn't stop herself from choking out:
"N-Naruto, stop…! Stop! Please, it hurts—"
"—Seriously, again?! Fuck!" Naruto groaned and pulled out, too fast, too painful. Hinata collapsed onto her stomach, panting into her pillow, while he flopped next to her and directed his gaze to the ceiling. His blue eyes glared up at the cracked paint of the bedroom they rented for the night, while his mouth twisted into a scowl. "You're really becoming difficult to please these days, Hinata…"
She stiffened at the tone. Then she leaned on her elbows and pulled up to look at him, her face flushed and her pale lavender eyes wide.
"I-I-I'm sorry, Naruto, I just. J-j-just," Hinata paused to clear her throat, cursing her childhood stammer which she knew just made her sound desperate, pathetic. "Just give me a few minutes and—"
"Forget it, the moment's gone anyway." He let out a sigh and sat up to get up from the bed. While fastening his pants closed, Naruto muttered, "I'll just find Sakura, she's always pretty easy. Or maybe that girl we met on the island? She was really cute. But then again, I haven't talked to Bonney in a hot minute—"
Hinata deflated instantly. Her face fell, her eyes landing back down on the flower embroidered sheets of their bed. After a sigh, her eyes closed and Hinata waited for him to leave, her chest heavy. The faster he left, the more opportunity for her to gather herself together—
"—Hina, this isn't how I wanted to bring it up, but I can't do this anymore."
Hinata's eyes snapped open. She lifted her head and herself up on her knees again, her palms on the bed. He turned back to her, his eyes suddenly holding a chill that pierced through her heart.
"What…what do you mean?" she asked, her heart pounding.
"I can't do it anymore! This, this whole thing," he started, his mouth twisting into a scowl. "I can't take you stifling me anymore."
...What.
"I told you before, if you can't handle me being with other women, then you should just leave! Not this manipulating, guilting thing you keep doing. You're becoming the reason so many of the girls are leaving—"
Hinata's mouth fell open in shock. What is he talking about? Yes, okay, despite the special arrangement in their relationship, she sometimes got a little bitter whenever he took another woman to their bed—especially during the times when he does it without discussing it with her first, which had been the only rule she'd given him—but she never tried to make him feel bad about it. All she'd ever done, both before and after their relationship started, was support him!
As for the other women on the crew, let alone whoever they meet? Most of them barely speak to her, so how in the world could she have gotten them to leave anyway? They mostly interacted with Sakura, who is admittedly a lot warmer and friendly. Probably the kindest girl Naruto ever picked up to join the crew had been Vivi, who Hinata had liked very much; but she ended up having to leave because of her duties in Alabasta (or so she told Hinata, at least). Nojiko had gone back to Cocoyashi Village not too long after they came to the New World. Anyone else who left the crew always ended up leaving for their own reasons. So, what in the world…?
"And honestly, the sex—it's just not the same anymore. I need to feel like a man again, not like I'm always holding glass. You couldn't even endure it long enough to let me finish—!"
I just...I wanted to enjoy it too. I deserve to feel good too, was the retort Hinata wanted to yell out, but the growing lump in her throat stopped her. And she knew that nothing would come out of it anyway; it seemed like Naruto already made up his mind.
And honestly, she was so tired.
So she closed her eyes in resignation and took as many breaths she needed to in order to remain composed.
"Okay," she said finally, sitting up and facing away from him. "Whatever you feel is right, Naruto."
He paused, probably in shock. Then he said, with relief and a grin in his voice, "I knew you'd understand. Thanks, Hinata."
"...You're welcome."
"I'll talk to Sakura later and make sure you'll still be allowed in the crew."
Again, her heart pounds, this time with a different fear. "You...you think this could be a problem?"
"Well, I don't think so, as long as you don't make things awkward—but I still want to get Sakura's input. She's my First, after all," Naruto said with a grin, seeming not to notice how Hinata cringed.
"I...I see."
"I'm sure it's fine, though! So don't worry."
Hinata chewed her lips, her eyes wide and staring ahead. "Don't worry," he said. That was already easier said than done. Now that he'd put that idea in her mind, that the dissolving of her relationship with Naruto could lead to her being kicked off the crew, that would be all she'd think about for the rest of the night. After all, why would Sakura and Naruto want to keep her when they had stronger and better crewmates? Hinata knew she'd probably just get in the way.
But the idea of being kicked off the Nine-Tails crew, of being left alone in the New World, made Hinata's heart give a painful clench.
"I'm going to head back down now. See you in a few minutes?"
"Sure," she said, still very numb.
"Okay," said Naruto. He pauses in the doorway and then turns to her one last time. "Thanks again for understanding, Hina."
Hinata didn't reply. She just watched him leave, tears starting to fall from her eyes. When the door finally closed, she let out a sigh and clenched her eyes closed. Then, with a groan, she let herself fall face first into the pillow.
Before tonight, Hinata liked to consider herself a relatively intelligent young woman. Granted, she wasn't a genius like Sakura, but she was decent in the intelligence department. When it came to paper tests at the Academy back home, she excelled with A's across the board. When it came to the Chunin exam, at least the written portion, she always knew the answers and passed easily without the need to cheat. Whenever Team 8 received an assignment, she was usually the one to come up with the plans on how to approach the missions, especially if they involved combat with an enemy.
Sure, not everything was approached with the forethought it deserved—her failed attempt at fighting Pein to defend Naruto still makes her cringe to this very day—but if there's anything Hinata has done these past few years after the war, it's to learn from her mistakes.
Her headbutting Kid, with a layer of chakra against her skull to make his own give a jolt of pain? Probably not her best idea, honestly.
"AH, motherfucker!" Kid hisses in pain, stepping back to press his good hand to his forehead.
Behind him, a masked man— Killer, Hinata remembers with a shudder, recalling how Naruto spoke of them the few times he interacted with them—lets out a snort, his folded arms squeezing together as if to hold in his laughter.
"Guess she's not as sweet as that girl claimed," he comments, his smirk heard in his voice. Despite his mask, Hinata can feel his eyes pierce into her and she can't help but glower back. He snorts again. "Look at her, she looks like all she wants to do is rip our hearts from our chests."
Despite still rubbing his head, Kid chuckled as he sent Killer a look. "That's good. I like it when they put up some kind of fight. It makes the whole scene more—"
Hinata lets out a furious scream from behind the gag and lifts one of her legs to kick frantically in the men's direction. Her eyes flare up with rage, veins pulsing around them as her Byakugan activates. When they both pause in their leering to stare at her, she begins pulling at the chains binding her wrists, bracing her legs so she's ready to fight—however she can. There has to be something she can do, some way she can fight out of this and get back to Naruto and the crew.
Speaking of the crew, where are they, anyway…? The last thing Hinata remembers is being with Naruto earlier that night, before he and she had that…talk. But what happened after that?
How the hell did Hinata get captured by the Kid Pirates?
That doesn't matter right now, she pushes her wondering to the side. She glares at the men in front of her, breathing heavily as she tries desperately to think, think, think while pulling harder at her chains, to the point of causing pain to shoot down her arm. I have to get out of here—!
Meanwhile, as Hinata's desperation to get free becomes more obvious— too obvious—the two pirates can't help but observe her, though both have different reasons.
"Damn, she's really looking pissed," Killer comments from across the room, this time in a softer, more thoughtful tone. With a glance at his captain, he adds in a whisper, "Do you think she's really acting?"
Kid regards him with a furrowed brow. "You think she's not…?"
Killer doesn't answer, just turns to direct his look at Hinata, mentally noting the desperation in her eyes. Kid follows his gaze and narrows his eyes. As a realization flashes through his gaze, Kid can't help but let out a groan, his own shoulders slumping as he looks to the ceiling.
"God fucking damn it!"
Hinata jolts at the shout, then freezes, pressing her body to the wall. She stares at Kid, sees that he's pinching the bridge of his nose with his good hand. She watches him let out another groan and then remove his hand to give her a wry look. Then he begins walking towards her again.
Hinata lets out another scream from her gag, putting as much death in her gaze as possible. Kid snorts but doesn't pause in his walk towards her. When she tries to kick him, he just wraps his metal hand around her ankle.
"Relax girlie—I think there's been a misunderstanding," he says in an exasperated sigh. "But to be sure, I've gotta remove that gag around your head. Can you hold still until I do that?"
She still glowers at him, but stays still.
"Great."
Kid walks over and, while still looking Hinata in the eye, he reaches behind her head to remove the leather strap forcing the ball gag in her mouth. Once it's removed, Hinata closes her mouth and moves it around slightly, finding the muscles in her lips sore from being parted by such a thing. Then she looks at him again and opens her mouth.
"Where have you taken me?" she asks first in a raspy voice, and then, "Where's Naruto?"
Kid scowls. "Listen, bitch, I'm not the one who brought you to this place. I just wanted to have a good time and you happened to cross my path. As for Whiskers, I haven't seen him. You, Killer?"
Killer shakes his head.
"That still doesn't answer my first question," Hinata says, her frown deepening. "Where am I?"
At this, both Kid and Killer share a grim look. She truly doesn't know? Didn't the person who brought her here hours ago tell her? And if not, then…?
Just before either of them can answer, there comes an ominous banging on the steel door—like one would hear from a battering ram—Hinata jolt in place and spin her gaze around to cast wide eyes at the door. Whoever hit the door left a deep dent in the metal, something that makes Hinata begin to sweat again. Who could that…?
Spiky blond hair and blue eyes come to mind, making her heart flutter. Could it be?
Then the door is slammed again, this time from its hinges as it's forced open—revealing the last person Hinata ever expected to come to her aid. Her eyes widen as he steps inside the room, his fists clenched at his sides and his eyes glowering at Kid, his lips pulled back in a snarl that bares his teeth. Kid also glares back, bracing himself for a fight.
"Where the fuck is she, Jaggy?" he growls. "I swear, if you laid one finger on her, I'll rip out your other fucking arm—"
Hinata gapes at him, her heart thumping wildly against her ribs, filling her with a mix of hope and more than a bit of regret. She opens her mouth to speak, her voice coming out in a stammer as her emotions overwhelm her.
"C-captain?"
He freezes in place at her voice, then spins around to cast round brown eyes at her. His expression instantly brightens, just as it did two years ago when he'd invited her, Naruto, and Sakura to join his crew after saving their lives.
"Hinata! I knew it, you are here," Luffy says. Then he's grinning so wide that the brilliance of it goes right through Hinata's chest, just like when he stepped in to help her, Sakura, and Naruto all that time ago—when, once upon a time, Hinata had this visceral feeling that if given the chance, she would have followed him anywhere.
She had been given that chance, along with Naruto and Sakura, and things were good for a while. And then, just like with everything, Hinata fucked it all up.
