Reviewer: "YOU ARE A BAD WRITER, THIS IS BADLY WRITTEN—"
Me: "I mean, fair, my tenses tend to be inconsistent and I need work on the dialogue and pacing more..."
Reviewer: "—BECAUSE YOU COULD HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MERGING ONE PIECE AND NARUTO IN THE SAME WORLD, EVERYONE'S OOC BLAH BLAH BLAH"
Me: "..."
I.E. If that's your idea of bad writing, you should probably go to the thousands of other fics here that do the exact same thing. Otherwise, I'm not going to take you seriously.
Plus, it's a fucking AU, guys. Chill the fuck out.
Also, because so many were having a tantrum about it, I removed the Naruto tag so you're welcome for that, I guess—but he's still gonna be how I write him, so be on the lookout for that.
That being said, here's the next chapter! Here are the content warnings here:
1. Uh...bad dirty talk. Like, absolutely terrible. Someone calls someone Daddy here and it's absolute cringe (not necessarily the kink itself but how it's portrayed here). You're meant to either laugh about it or go WTF?
2. Sexual Content (Hinata witnessing said content and hiding her face from it)
3. Brief shot of Furries (kind of?)
4. Trafalgar Law.

Chapter 3: The Goblin Market
Hinata lingered on the Thousand Sunny, overlooking the edge. She saw Naruto checking the boat that they'd use to get back to Water 7, to find a shipwright that would build them a ship fit for the New World, for their own crew. She noted his furrowed brow, his eyes still storming from the anger and disgust he'd felt when fighting Luffy earlier that day—the reasons for which he still hadn't revealed to her—and her heart ached for him instantly. She saw Sakura staring out at the ocean, her expression difficult to read—a rather recent development that Hinata had begun to notice, but had not considered a concern at the time.
Her hands tightened on the strap of her backpack. Part of her wanted to check it again, but she'd checked it already ten times before leaving the bedroom she'd no longer share with either Robin or Nami. There would be no point in checking it again.
Still her feet stayed glued to the deck of the Sunny. She was starting to feel the blades of grass brush up against her toes, as if the ship wanted to pull her back, to keep her from leaving. Hinata was so, so tempted to follow the order.
But then she felt a familiar figure step up behind her, and her whole body froze, her heart suddenly filled with a stabbing pain. She remembered then why it was best for her to leave.
"…So, you're going then," Zoro said.
Hinata swallowed before replying, very determined not to turn around. "Yes."
"Just like that?"
"…Yes."
"Okay."
Pause. Hinata began gnawing her lip, her hands trembling.
"I-is the Captain okay?"
"…Yeah, he's fine. After that salve you left, the worst he had after was just a few bruises. Even the knife wound healed up, it's barely a scratch now."
Pale lavender eyes rolled up to the morning sky, still in the midst of twilight, Hinata's gaze sending gratitude up to whatever cosmic being still watching over their world. Then her eyes closed, her chest filling again with guilt and so much regret. But at least Luffy was alive and wasn't too hurt from the fight.
Zoro's voice held an uncharacteristic gentleness when he spoke, "You don't have to leave, you know. Neither does Naruto, really, but he's too up his ass about things to even consider staying—I can only guess the same about Sakura, she refused to even speak to anyone earlier—but Hinata, that fight…it had nothing to do with you, really. You can still stay if you just apologize."
Hinata's stomach flipped. There was nothing she wanted more than to stay on the ship, in this beautifully insane crew. From the minute she met them, there was something about each and every one of the Strawhats that drew Hinata to them right away, even when she wasn't really ready to trust anyone after the torture she and her friends had just gone through with The Doctor. Being on the Strawhat crew made her remember the joy in little things, in having adventures, in laughing with friends. It was like being around Kiba and Shino again, but with something a little extra, somehow. Being here, around all these people, made her feel like she was capable of more than she'd always thought when she was in Konoha. Being on this crew made her feel like she was more than just another person meant to step into the background to allow others to shine, the role she had always been placed in.
And of course, that was a dangerous thought— because it was just not true. For one blissful moment, lost in new friendships and adventures and the rush of battle, Hinata had forgotten her role and it led to her doing something unforgivable— and even if there was a chance of forgiveness, she knew it would be undeserved.
A brief memory of Luffy grinning at her popped in her mind, and Hinata had to take in a shaky breath. Then she squeezed her eyes closed, shaking her head.
"N-no. No, I can't," she said. "I can't."
Zoro didn't reply at first, didn't seem to react at all. Then he was walking towards Hinata, his footfalls soft on the grass but still firm enough to make her heart jolt. She liked to think she knew him well at this point, enough to read his intent just as his fingers twitched around the hilts of his swords, but the truth is, Zoro was as unpredictable as everyone else on the ship. He could probably take off her head without blinking, and honestly, he would be within his rights to do it. Even so, knowing this was enough to make Hinata freeze up, her whole body going into defense mode.
She couldn't help but be surprised when he walked to the rail instead. When her eyes rolled to look at him from the side, Hinata saw that Zoro was staring ahead at the ocean, his elbows leaning on the wood as his silver eyes clouded with thought.
Then, he finally spoke.
"Do me a favor, then, Hyuga: Don't come back."
Deep in the Grand Line is a part of the ocean that is on a whole other level of chaos with its series of islands and the pirates who sail and conquer there. A part known to all sailors—pirate or not—as the New World. Most pirates who sail these waters struggle with this new chaos, often not surviving past certain islands, let alone pirates. The few who do, those who arguably own the chaos rather than the other way around, end up discovering parts of themselves they hadn't realized existed. Sometimes, in between adventures, a pirate might dare to do something so drastic that it tilts the world on its axis.
That being said, when you have back to back adventures—specifically involving the beatdown of two of the Four Emperors—the best thing to do is to head over to an island where you can just unwind and have fun.
That's where the island of Tortuga comes in.
Tortuga is a small island located in an undisclosed location in the New World, known primarily by pirates. As such, it is considered by those in the know to be a pirate paradise. Gambling, brawls, women—or men, or whichever your preference be—and spiced rum that flows like a fresh river. On Tortuga, there is very little sin that any pirate has not indulged in to their heart's content.
But probably the most sinful, the absolutely most carnal of places, is the night club known as The Goblin Market—a club where anything, and we do mean anything goes. Up until 8pm? It is a regular bar that serves drinks and food to satiate the usual appetite of several hungry men. After 8pm, however, the doors shut and stay locked until sunrise. It's then that the real fun, when people sate their true appetites, truly begins.
"…Basically, a free-for-all, night long orgy for every kind of degenerate to enjoy," Law finishes explaining as they walk down the hall of the second floor, where the Straw hats are sitting and drinking in a personal room. "You've got your standard BDSM peeps—"
"…Tell me, you little whore," Hinata hears a husky voice demand from inside a room. "Tell me who owns you."
The comment is swiftly followed by the sound of something leathery hitting skin and then someone begins wailing out.
"You do! You do, my Mistress, holy fuck! Only you…"
Law continues, much like a tour guide, as they walk, "Then you have your average, mild bondage kinksters…"
"Mm, yeah, tighter—wait, wait, not that tight…!"
"The swingers—"
"Okay, I'll fuck your husband," an old woman is saying to another, very casually as they both lean against a door. "And you can fuck my wife— and then we'll roll from there and see what happens."
The other woman shrugs. "Sounds cool to me—"
"And then there's—well, I'll be honest," Law pauses to regard the next couple. "I don't know what the fuck to call these two…"
"Unh, baby," groans a man while rolling his hips up to slowly fuck a near sobbing woman into the wall. "Feels so fucking good inside you—"
"I'm so close, Daddy" she whines, her hands clinging to his shoulders, their masked faces barely a breath away.
"Me too, doll, me too. With me, okay…?"
Hinata has to hide her face with her palm, her blush burning right to the tips of her ears as the two begin moaning way too loud, as if they're the only two people in the damn hallway. With a shudder, she lifts her eyes and looks up at Law, who is studying the couple with a tilted head.
"They're not…actually related," she says, then swallows. "R-r-right?"
"Hmm…I think we can assume that, yeah."
"Okay, but. Why are they wearing wolf masks?"
Both of them turn as the woman lets out an odd animalistic yowl, her expression still hidden by the animal mask over her head while the man lets out a final howl before stilling inside her, his body stuttering against hers. While Hinata gapes, both weirded out and oddly fascinated—like how one would stare at the aftermath of a train crash—Law narrows his eyes further.
"I think one of them's a coyote, actually."
She stares up at him, her palms lifting from either side of her head, frozen before she desperately gestures at them. "Ok, but again: Why?"
"…I have no fucking clue," he says, surprisingly at a loss for words—then he shrugs. "Just one of those things, I guess."
Hinata keeps staring up at him, her eyes wide like plates. Law watches the couple in their afterglow for a moment before sliding his gaze down at her, his mouth spread into a smirk that's as amused as he allegedly gets whenever he uses his Devil Fruit on someone.
"Keep walking, Bunny-ya," he tells her before turning on his heel. When he hears her footfalls behind him, he continues, "I think you get the basic gist. Any degenerate worth his salt is in this place."
Hinata regards him a moment before lowering her gaze to the floor, her brow furrowing in thought. She can understand the sort of place she's in right now— the evidence occurring around her is very difficult to ignore—but there is something completely off about the whole situation.
Number one: How did I end up here? And not just this club either, but this whole island. The last thing Hinata remembers is having a conversation with Naruto, the one that didn't end well—but that had been on an entirely different island, over at the tropical island of Boriken. Tortuga, however? Hinata had never even heard of it, and she's certain neither had the rest of her crew. So if she's on an entirely different island…
How long have I been here? How long has it been since I saw the crew? Hinata swallows. Was I unconscious the whole time…?
Just the implications alone is enough to make every cell in her body erupt in sheer panic, her whole body giving a sickening shudder. Before she can get too overwhelmed with anxiety, Hinata has to use those deep breathing exercises Chopper had taught her two years ago to calm down. She can't think about that now, not yet. One thing at a time, she thinks to herself, just to keep herself grounded.
Which leads to Number two: Why are the Strawhats here? Hinata had only sailed with them for a brief time two years ago, but from what she remembers, these pirates are not exactly your typical bawdy crew. They are adventurers and explorers, and occasionally treasure hunters; the last thing they would ever do is go to a sex club, of all places. Hinata pauses then, her mouth pursing as she realizes it might not be too unbelievable. As in, maybe Sanji would enjoy a place like this. Probably Robin too. And considering Nami's tendency to flirt, perhaps her too. But everyone else? Hinata has a hard time wrapping her mind around anyone else on the crew even thinking about coming to a place like this, especially the Captain. After all, far as Naruto had told her—usually in a shocked, bemused tone—Luffy didn't have any interest in that stuff.
"...So, why are they here?" she ends up murmuring out loud.
"It was Kid's idea, actually."
"Eep!" Hinata squeaks in surprise, then looks up to see that Law somehow moved to walk next to her, his eyes piercing through her. She flinches back, eyeing him warily. "How long have you been…?"
"You're the ninja, little rabbit," Law says, quirking a brow. "Shouldn't you be able to answer that question?"
A hot flush rises to Hinata's cheeks as her frown deepens. Then, with a snort, she turns to look forward, her expression neutral. "I don't need to explain myself to a so-called doctor who likes to remove people's hearts for fun," she retorts softly.
Law smirks wider but doesn't respond. Instead, he continues from his earlier tangent, "But yeah, it was his idea to come here. Said he wanted to unwind after everything that happened in Wano— and everyone decided to go with it."
She doesn't know how to respond to that. It makes a little sense, sure—there have been many rumors about how intense the battle at Onigashima got, and Hinata remembered the leer on Kid's face when she woke up; he definitely looks the type to enjoy a place like this—but she can't help but feel there was more to it than that. Three captains of the Worst Generation, in the same place? Just so soon after everything that happened at Wano? Something has to be going on.
Then again, this is Trafalgar Law. From what little Hinata knows of him, based on anecdotes and what Naruto told her of their first meeting, he just seems the sort of person who keeps his secrets close to his chest until the time is right. So with a shrug, she decides not to press the issue further.
"Ah, here it is—everyone else is in here" he says, finally stopping in front of a closed door.
Hinata stands next to him, staring at the door with wide eyes. It suddenly hits her just who exactly is behind this door. She stares and thinks of two years ago, the last time she had ever felt safe or happy. She thinks of what she did, of how she left the crew. She thinks of Nami running to Luffy's side, of how her brown eyes went from warm to ice cold as she spat out accusations. She thinks of Zoro, the finality in his voice when he told her his last order. She thinks of all these memories and realizes that going inside that room, seeing all of them again—it probably isn't a good idea.
("…Don't come back.")
"U-um," she tries to speak, tries to protest as Law knocks on the door twice. "W-wait, wait—"
But before Hinata can finish, the door opens.
