'thoughts of Sesshomaru's beast'

Sesshomaru woke up in the middle of the night. At first, he did not know why he woke up, but soon he smelled fear and distress coming from Hermione's room.

'Our mate is afraid. We need to go to her.' 'Yes.'

He stormed about of his room and rushed into the ones of his little witch. Now he also heard her whimpering and quiet groans. He hurried to her side and kneeled beside her. He could not see what was wrong, then he remembered her nightmares. But normally she would mask her scent and sounds with her magic.

'We want to hold her. We need to show her she is safe. Do as we did by the well. Hold her and make reassuring sounds.'

Sesshomaru took her in his arms and held her. At the beginning she struggled, but after a short while she started to clam down. He purred reassuringly and started to nuzzle her. He licked away her tears like he did not so long ago.

"Shh, I am here my little witch. You are safe. That vile woman is no longer. She can not hurt you. I will not let anyone hurt you", he told her.

He laid next to her and held her in his arms. Her breath slowed down and she nestled against him. He hummed contently and his beast waged his tail, he was so happy. After some time he fell asleep again.

Hermione felt warm when she woke up. She breathed in deep and smelled a familiar but unexpected scent. Slowly she opened her eyes and blinked a few times. Was she still dreaming? Why was Lord Sesshomaru in her room, hugging her in der futon? Her heart started beating faster and she felt warmth travel up her face. She knew she was blushing.

"Good morning, little witch. What is the matter?"

"I… ehm… g-good morning. W-what are you doing here?", she stuttered and blushed a bit more.

He grinned down at her.

"You had a nightmare. I smelled your distress and came to make sure everything was well with you. It seems you forgot to mask your scent and sounds."

"But… why didn't you wake me? Why are you hugging me and sleeping here?", she asked shyly.

"I did not want to wake you. You were exhausted yesterday, and when you calmed, I did not want to leave you alone. In case you would have another nightmare again."

"Oh. I… Thank you then."

They stayed like that a few mor moments until Hemione said: "I… I think we should get up? I am sure Rin is waiting for us to eat breakfast? Or are we going to eat with Sirius an Mr. Flamel like yesterday?"

"I suppose you are right. Today we will eat with Rin. She felt lonely without us yesterday."

He let her go and she stood up a bit reluctantly. It felt nice to be held by him, but she would not tell him so.

"Ehm… I will meet you in your chambers. I still need to change", she said not looking at him.

"Hn.", he said and left.

She put her hands on her burning cheeks. 'I slept with Sesshomaru. Well not like that but… he held me in his arms. It felt … nice. He came to me, to comfort me.' But he was a Lord and from another time. She wanted to go back to her own time. Nothing would ever come of it.

'Lies. We wanted to stay because we like her. Her scent is wonderful, when not afraid.' 'Patience. We will not tell her that. Yet.'

Sesshomaru did not want to let her go, but she had a good point, and he could not hold her any longer without explaining himself. So he let her go grudgingly and stood up as well. He looked at her in her sleeping kimono and her open flowing hair. She was wonderful and he longed to play with her bouncy curls.

'Do it, we want to touch it.' 'No, like this Sesshomaru said before, we need to be patient.' 'Boring.'

He rolled his eyes and stayed silent. When Hemione mentioned changing, his inner beast started battling for control. So Sesshomaru nodded only, made an affirmative sound and left for his rooms. His eyes slowly bleeding red he fought his beast for control.

'We want to go to our mate!' 'No, not like this. She will be afraid of us!'

Hearing that, his beast calmed down a bit and gave up fighting for control.

He went into his room without looking at his servant Yamato. In his rooms he found that Rin was already here and seated at the table with something to eat.

"Good morning, Rin."

"Good morning, Lord Sesshomaru. Where did you go in your sleepwear?"

He looked at her and could see that she was asking curiously.

"Hermione was having a nightmare and forgot to mask her scent. This Sesshomaru went to comfort her", he told her while he went behind a screen to put on his clothes for the day.

Rin was sitting alone in Lord Sesshomaru's room. She wondered where her father figure was. Yamato had let her in and brought breakfast for Lord Sesshomaru, Hemione and her. She had missed the both of them at breakfast the day before. She really liked to eat with them both. She felt like a real family. When Sesshomaru came into the room, she looked up and smiled at him.

Curious as she was, she saw that he was still wearing his sleeping kimono and asked him about it. Her eyes widened at his words. Did she hear right? He had spent the night in Hermione's bed? Did her wish already come true? Would she have a real family soon? Even with siblings? Lady Kaede had told her, that if a woman and a man loved each other and slept together they would have children nine months later. Would Hermione also have a baby in nine months? Rin hoped so. She would have to tell Shippo, about it. He did not believe her, when she had told him, that Lord Sesshomaru was interested in Hermione. Sango and Kagome always smiled a knowing smile, when they heard about the two, but Rin did not know what it meant.

"Good morning Hermione", she greeted her mother figure and stood up to hug her.

"Good morning Rin, did you sleep well?"

"Yes Rin did, how did you sleep? Lord Sesshomaru told me you had a nightmare again. Did he make it better?", she asked innocently and sat down again.

Rin saw how Hermione blushed and smiled. She was sure she would get her siblings soon.

"I… I slept well after the nightmare. How was your day yesterday?"

"Rin missed eating with you and Lord Sesshomaru and she had boring lessons. But later I played a little with Tomomi, that was fun."

"I am glad to hear, that you also had fun."

Hermione started to eat as well, when Lord Sesshomaru sat down at the table.

"This Sesshomaru is glad as well, to know that Rin hat fun."

Rin smiled happily and continued eating.

"When can Rin meat the guests from far away?", she asked the adults.

"This Sesshomaru is unsure. What do you think, little witch?"

"I don't think it should be a problem to let her meet Sirius, I don't know about Mr. Flame, but since he is friends with Sirius he should be alright as well. We could eat lunch together? I don't know what you had planned."

"That sounds like a good Idea. This Sesshomaru will let Yamato know to bring the guest to the room we were in yesterday."

"Do we have lessons till then?", Hermione asked.

"No, you both can do as you wish this morning. Rin's lessons will resume in the afternoon. This Sesshomaru will have to hold court, but you are welcome to stay here."

"Thank you, I think I will see after my plants and maybe brew a little. Would you like to help me, Rin? Or do you want to go and play with Tomomi?"

Rin considered her options and decided then: "Rin will go play with Tomomi. Rin thinks Hemione will be able to work better that way."

"That is fine for me Rin. Enjoy your time with her."

Hermione smiled and waved at Rin, as she left. Then she continued eating. After some time, she looked up, as Sesshomaru stood. He came to her and put a hand on her shoulder.

"I will see you later at lunch, my little witch", he said and left her alone.

Why did he keep calling her that? And also touching her? She did not think that he was such a touchy person, but now she realised, that he actually was. She didn't really have something against it, but she felt strange when he did it, not unpleasant but strange. She groaned and finished eating.

When she left Sesshomaru's rooms, Nishi, the cat half demon, was waiting for her.

"Good morning Nishi. Can you bring me to my work rooms?"

"Good Morning Lady Hermione. I will gladly do so."

Hemione waited for her to lead the way, but in vain.

"Nishi, we had this conversation when I first came here. I don't know the way, I can't lead the way if I don't know it, so can you please lead the way, or at least show it to me?", she asked exasperatedly.

Nishi seemed to think for a moment and then she pointed in a direction and waited for Hermione to walk in front of her. Hermione sighed. This could be a long morning.

AN: And another chapter for you. Like I said, I plan to finish this story, even if I don't know when it will be. Since my muse is happy and giving me motivation and Ideas and I also am on vacation I will try and write as much as possible. I can't guarantee that I will post a new chapter daily but I will try for a few times a week. I hope you enjoyed the chapter.
