A/N: Yeah, another Narnian fic. I love these, and this song just spoke to me when I sang it during Choir Tour and I connected the dots. Read and enjoy! Oh, and I own none of C.S. Lewis's fabulous creations, I just like to play with them.
Watching Over MeSusan woke with a gasp. She shook her head and thought to her dream, the one she had since her siblings died. Multiple people: her siblings, Aslan, Mr. Tumnus, the beavers, everyone she had even met or spoken to in Narnia had come to her.
In the middle of the trouble
In the midst of the struggle
I try to find you,
Where can I find you? They had all come to her, asking her why she betrayed Narnia. The one that stabbed at her heart though, was Aslan. The great lion, asking her why she had betrayed him. Susan had only been silent.
Then I remembered you'd said you'd never leave me,
You'd promised you'd always be with me.
Then it was her sister Lucy. Her innocent eyes looking up at her, asking why she stopped believing. Susan had still been silent. Then it was Ed, the one who had blossomed the most during their reign. He asked why too. He said the truth, that Susan had changed. Susan still remained silent.
Then it was Peter. Peter, the high king. Peter had shunned her, saying she was no longer a friend of Narnia. Then Susan had sobbed out her apologies, but Peter only turned his head and disappeared.
When I really need your powerWhen I need you to shower me with your strength
I feel your strength
Then Aslan appeared. He turned his eyes to her, his sorrowful amber eyes. "When you die Daughter of Eve, and if you believe, you too will follow your siblings. Until then my beloved." He too disappeared.
There you are, watching over me,
There you are, I know you never sleep.
Susan shakily stood up and got dressed. She walked out the door, having eyes for only one place, the church. After her siblings had died, she remembered that Aslan had said that he was in their world as well as Narnia. After they had died, she had found him, in the form of Jesus Christ. She walked into the church and walked into the back pew. She fell to her knees. "Aslan, I need you." She whispered in a prayer.
You never slumber, so I never wonder if you're watching,
I know you're watching,
Watching over me.
There was a roar and she heard the gentle voice of Aslan. "I am here, my beloved one." She felt his cold nose on her cheek and smiled. She knew he was watching, and she knew she would see her siblings again soon.
Watching over me…
