introductions
The room was dark, like most of Rapture. The only lights present were those of reflections off puddles, and the yellow light eminating from Omega's eyes. He sat in a water and fire damaged brass chair with his legs proped up on the side of a bar. Subject Iota lay just five feet away on her back with one hand on her stomach and the other beside her.
Omega admired the make-shift bed of chair cushions he had made for Iota. He couldn't help but try to imagine what she would look like had he still possesed his mental conditioning. His attention was brought back to the sleeping protector when she made a barely audible sound. When he realized she was fine he breathed a sigh of relief and continued to study her as she mouthed words in her sleep.
He knew she was having a dream of somekind but he couldn't figure out if they were good or bad. His vision hadn't left her since he had fixed her bed, He monitered her breathing to make sure she wouldn't suffocate somehow, and listened to make sure it wasn't labored in any way.
Omega had finally found another of Raptures Elite Guardians, after what seemed like forever, So he watched in amazement as another Protector lay merely feet away, and wondered what would happen when she awoke.
In Subject Iota's dream she remembered coming back to Rapture on Mother's orders, only to find that her Family had disapeared. Iota could hardly find a trace of them, aside from the video footage in Mothers office she had no idea what had happened to them. Until she came across a video tape of Subject Omega carrying the body of a dead Big Sister.
The image was hard to make out from all of the static, but that one piece of evidence gave her the smallest shred of hope that Delta had been killed by one of Mother's Children. The video was taken after Delta's attack on the Family so was it possible that Subject Omega had killed him? Or perhaps he knew where Mother had gone?
She couldn't be sure until she found Subject Omega alive or dead and searched him for clues. The hardest part of her plan would be searching all of Rapture for him, a Hunter as deadly as herself and an expert on tracking and covering his trails.
All she had to go on was a small piece of video footage, a solitary piece of evidence in an entire City of chaos. She also couldn't help but question the Big Brother's actions in the video, what was he doing carrying a dead Sister? It all seemed a little odd to her, so she put the question on her mental list of things to ask him if and when she ever found him
Iota felt like a small fish inside a very big pond, to tell the truth she was terrified. She kept asking herself questions like, where was mother?, where were the other Sisters and Eleanor?, and how was she going to find Omega? The questions plagued her until she heard his hunting call weeks later, she knew if anyone knew where Mother was it was Big Brother.
The sound of a fellow Hunter's call was more beautiful to her in that moment than any of Sander Cohen's masterpieces. The next thing she remembered was seeing him rush into the Kashmir diner in a hail of bullets and dust. She could only watch in amazement as the skilled Warrior dispatched his every foe with the speed of light, and the force of a hurricane.
His movements were swift, calculated, and deadly. The speed with which he moved was amazing, hard even for her to keep track of. As he stood holding a dead splicer by the throat, he looked to the Leader of the rag-tag group of men who was now out of ammo. He clinched his right hand, and threw the body aside like a toy he was bored with.
Iota was aw-struck, she had finally found another Protector, and a deadly one at that. He moved through the Battlefield with a certain grace, combat to him was as natural as sleeping. She was snapped back to reality when she realized the man had pulled out his secret weapon, a detonator.
She knew the detonator was for explosives but where, and how many? Iota noticed Omega's head looking around the floor, and realized the danger they possesed. The Splicer was going to destroy her last clue to finding their Family, He was going to harm a fellow Protector! Subject Iota felt her instincts kick in and Rage fill her being.
Iota's vision turned red with fury and her body reacted before her mind could, before she knew it she was darting through the doors of the establishment and over barracades toward the frightened Splicer after giving three warning shreiks.
She had to stop him, there was no other choice. As she began to pass her staring counterpart he tackled her onto a large table with what seemed like the strength of the Ocean. She couldn't figure out what he was doing, why was he holding her back? That's when she remembered something. He like her had a Protector's instinct, and was putting her before himself.
She had just enough time to figure out he was acting as a human shield to protect her before an immense sound filled the air. As Iota looked around she could see flames engulf the table and as time sped up everything went black. The explosion tore through the already beaten diner, and left tremendous damage everywhere.
Iota was gasping for breath as she faded in and out of conciousness, she looked to the other Protector who had stopped moving, and had a giant gash in his helmet, then like before, everything went black. As her vision left and came back multiple times, she could see small fragments of images. She saw the Big Brother look to her, then he appeared beside her stabbing himself with her needle, and continue to lay on his back.
After a little while she could make out strange sounds coming from above her in the establishment, when she looked to her right the Protector had vanished. With all the strength she could muster, Iota rolled onto her stomach with pain shooting through her body.
Now with a better view she could see Subject Omega crawling his way to the dying Splicer leaving a trail of blood in his wake. As Omega crawled onto the man, Iota could see the bloodied, gashed, and rage-filled left side of Omega. The lights on his helmet were no longer in working condition, but what light she could see was a bright red, almost pinkish color.
She knew this color well, Iota and her Sisters had taken down Rogue Daddies with the very same color in their visors. She could only watch with enjoyment as the Titan of a Protector destroyed the Splicer completely, after she felt satisfied that Omega would live Iota let herself slip into oblivion. After all, he did act as a shield for her and the actions thereafter were proof enough he wouldn't hurt her.
When Iota emerged from her slumber she felt weak, her joints were stiff, and she was still in quite alot of pain, but not nearly as much as she could be in. She slowely opened her eyes and blinked allowing her vision to slowely return, when she realized where she was she jumped herself awake and leaned up slightely to survey the area with even more pain shooting into her.
As she did she could hear a chair squek as Omega jumped to his feet and stared at her with a slight expression of concern. The tension in the air could be cut with a knife as the two just starred at one another, The Sister finally broke the gaze, and layed her head back down with a whimper.
Omega slowely limped his way to her and knelt down beside her. Iota may have put her head back down but she followed the Brother with her eyes intensely. As Omega slowely put his hand behind his back, Iota tried to move further away. He could understand her reasoning behind it. She had no idea what he had behind his back, and wished he had thought this all through better.
He placed his left hand in front of him to assure the wounded Sister she was safe, and with the other he pulled a bottle of water from behind him. Placing the bottle in his right hand he gently lifted the Sister's head so she could take a few sips of the liquid. Suprised at the kind and thoughtful notion Iota couldn't help but blush at the memory of him protecting her.
After pulling the bottle away and placing the container beside him, Omega began to inspect the damage to her suit. He brushed his fingers over the knife-made gash in her suit located on her ribs, and heard the girl give a small squek. When he looked back up her face had become red and she starred at him almost in shock.
Realizing what he had just done Omega looked away and chuckled a bit. Was one of the most deadly creatures in the world ticklish? After a few akward moments Omega brought his right hand up and held it in front of the Sister's view showing his Protector insignia, Iota noded slightly, and attempted to do the same. It wasn't much as far as introductions go, but as long as she wasn't alone she couldn't care how they said hello.
A/N: sorry for the long wait, i recently got my hands on an alienware and have been playing tons of games and doing cool stuff with it and if the chapter is crap it's probably because i havn't written anything in a while. With that being said forgive any errors please and expect more to come!
