Chapter 1 – Man that's a weird building…
"Damn... that's a weird shaped building. I wonder who could design something like tha-Ooof?" he grunted out as a grouchy looking blonde pushed past.
Standing in front of the UA gate looking at the school building was one young man standing amongst many potential students. With light blue crystalline wings on his back and the blue hair to match is our soon to be hero. Ren Hoseki
"Aaaannnndd TIME!" the proctor yelled.
"Glad that's done with. If only I had looked more into hero Law, then those last two questions wouldn't have stumped me so much. Eh everything else I put down should have me in the top ten at least. Now I just have to do the practical."
"Here Hoseki take this. It should cover everything about the practical for you read it over and then head over to hall A for the introduction."
"Thank you, sir." I took the paper and read it over.
Hero Practical Exam
H.P.E
The H.P.E will test your combat skills in a mass villain attack.
You using your skills must disable as many faux villains as possible within ten minutes.
There are three types
Type 1: One pointer – these faux villains are robots with low level combat skills that can only dish out weaker punches. But watch out they travel in groups!
Type 2: Two pointer – these faux villains are robots with a higher attack power than the previous and with a larger level in fighting skill.
Type 3: Three pointer – these faux villains are robots with much sturdier bodies as well as extremely powerful long-range capabilities, but don't lower your guard the pack an even meaner punch than either of its weaker family.
Huh that's good to know but I should probably get to the presentation to see where I end up.
"Man, Present mic really is louder in person". He half yelled trying to get his ear to stop ringing. Rubbing it to ease the pain.
"And that tall Guy! why was he so intense!? The poor kid was just nervous no need to be so rude!"
"Everybody! Onto your buses we leave in three minutes to the exam site so prep yourself and let's go!" the same proctor from the exam yelled out.
"AAANNNNDDD GOOOOOO!"
Okay let's do this, the pamphlet said three pointers liked to attack from long range so my best bet to rack up points quickly would be to fly into the sky over the buildings and wait till something fires at me. Slapping his face and jumping as hard as he could Ren takes off into the sky circling the arena before flying over the center where he is immediately shot at from three different directions.
Okay so one to the east and two to the west. I'll get the single one by itself first then head for the duo.
No sooner than he said that he once again shot through the sky but this time with a target in mind. Seeing the robot come into view aiming its gun at him, Ren takes aim and fires off three shards destroying the gun and the robot wielding it.
Okay now rinse and repeat.
Circling back around to where the duo was eyeing him up for another shot, Ren was planning their doom.
"Aaaannnd that makes… siixxxttty... Two! Awesome that should put me pretty high up on the exam, but I can d better there's still a couple minutes le- OH SHI-" falling from the sky as a chunk of debris hit his side sending him flying into a building the zero-pointer emerged in its titanic glory.
Damn that hurt. Whoa that's one big bitch. Okay! Limb check 1! 2! 3! 4... wait where's my fifth limb frantically patting his body it clicks "oh yeah… my head. Might have to get that checked but its all there!"
Shakily getting up and wiping the remaining bits of debris off his clothes he looks at the giant robot to see it chasing a green haired girl who is frantically jumping away through an alley until she ends up getting corned by a remaining two-pointer.
Shit, I should help her otherwise she might get squished by Power-loaders compensation bot!
Shooting up from the ground and into the sky just narrowly dodging a building being flung by the titan he yells "Hey you! Need a hand?" looking up at him the girl immediately shoots out her tongue wrapping around his arm and pulling herself up and sitting on Ren's back.
"Thanks for the save, ribbit" "s'no problem but we should get out of here before that building dozer gets closer."
As Akira started to fly further away, he heard a cry. Looking down right at the oncoming titans' feet was a girl with short black hair and… earjacks? Doesn't matter her arm was pinned under a shredded one-pointer.
"We should help her, Croak" "agreed" taking off towards the ground landing right next to the downed teen the green haired girl hops off Ren's back and starts lifting the robot, With Akira in short pursuit.
Just as the robot started to move the titan was almost upon them with its massive frame coiling pack what was sure to be a devastating punch.
"Greenie! Can you lift this by yourself for a second? I need both my hands to block that!" not even waiting for an answer he lets go sending all the feather off the base of his wings into the ground in front of them creating a line of shards
Perfectly aligned now! "RISE!" straining his throat as he yelled the feathers on the ground started to flash as the cement around it started to warp and fall apart as the high-quality quartz within started to shift and fly up out of the ground into the shape of crystal-clear knights shield the size of the robots' fist, just barely in time to stop it.
"URGHH. Hah. It. Finally. Worked." The strain of holding the quartz in place from the power of the fist completely wiped-out Akira as he fell his feathers flying back onto his wing as the shield stood strong.
"TIME! EXAM COMPLETE!" the proctor yelled and the zero-pointer shut down, mid second swing.
Tilting his head to the side he sees both girls, just staring at him heads tilted with and the black-haired girl with a shocked look.
"Are yall good?" he panted out in utter exhaustion.
The black hair girl just yelled "HOLY SHIT DUDE, THAT WAS awesome! How did you do that!?" Ren chuckled before answering, "my quirk lets me use the feathers on my wing to control quartz, and since quartz is a major component of cement, I just stole it out of the sidewalk. Hwwooof… how about we introduce ourselves till the medic gets here, the Name's Ren Hoseki how about the two of you?"
the black-haired teen answered first "that's sounds like a great idea I'm Kyouka Jiro" unfortunately when she reached out her hand, she felt an incredibly sharp pain flowing through it causing her to cry out.
"Urghh Damn that hurts!"
"Ribbi, I'm Tsuyu Asui but you can call me Tsu, can you make a rod of quartz so we can make a splint for Jirou, Croak" the green haired teen croaked out.
"Sure, that's easy enough, also here take my sweater it should work for cloth since it got pretty ripped up when I got thrown earlier." Standing up to slip the sweater off he noticed a large gash on the side of his waist. Huh must've been when that debris came down, add that to the list of things I'll bother 'him' about this test later heh its hard-to-get good pity from him but if I play this right, I should be able to stay in the dorms once I get in!
Shaking his head, he sends a feather down to the ground and wills the Quartz to from into shape, grabbing it and crouching down near Jirou to help Tsu out.
"Oho that's some splendid work boy, you must know your first aid quite well! Let me help you out with that cut first." -SMOOOCHH-
After a short but disgustingly wet kiss on the cheek, Ren turned around to see a short old lady that anyone who knew their stuff would instantly recognize as recovery girl.
"Thanks Mam! But I feel like my new friend over here, would like that much more than me." He spoke trying to be respectful but coming off rude, not like it wasn't intentional you don't just smooch someone who's trying to use said cut for blackmail.
"Bah, kids these days so ungrateful. Here girly -SMOOOCH- There you should be all good, And what about you? Are you fine or are you trying to hide an injury like this numbskull over here." She asked mid cane swing knocking on Ren's head once again hurting his head.
"OW- Stop doing that! Just because you can hit people doesn't mean you should!" he cried out putting his hands on his head trying to lessen his growing headache.
"Hehe, well anyway dearies I've got more people to heal your exam scores should be back in a week, hopefully I'll see you three make it in soon, Bye-Bye!"
"Urf youthful is right! She's still got a mean swing with that cane of hers!" Ren spoke out still clutching his head as the two girls next to him just laughed at him.
I do wonder how well I placed 'HE' did say there was gonna be something special about the exam this year…? Well, knowing him he was probably just saying that to get in my head and mess with me…eh food for thought. The better question is if I should ask these two for their phone numbers it would be good to have potential friends in U.A if I get in… it wouldn't hurt to ask right?
Readying himself for failure he asks "I was wondering, would you two want to share phone numbers with me, it would be nice to have some potential friends in the same school if we all get in?" he paused after he finished, praying he didn't ruin another chance to have friends.
"Sure/Why not" the two answered him at the same time causing them to chuckle bringing out their phones as they walked to the bus that they entered the exam area on.
"Awesome it was fun meeting you guys. Aside from the whole robot trying to pummel us thing." Ren spoke as he was walking away from his two new friends, "Also don't be shy, if your bored shoot me a text or something I'm usually pretty free… unless that little 'Rat' is up to no good but even then, just call!" he yelled progressively getting further until it was just Tsuyu and Jirou left walking the opposite way to the bus stop.
Tsuyu just stared off towards where Ren last was tilting her head "I wonder does he not realize that the buses are in the opposite direction, ribbii?" Jirou just chuckled "eh, I'm sure he'll figure it out sooner or later." Both just started laughing as they continued on walking.
Back with Ren
Today was an AMAZING day, two new friends a score I'm almost certain will be one of the highest! The better question is what is he gonna do once I'm back no doubt about it he's laid a trap for once I get back home but! What will it be? Would I be better off going through my window? Hmmmmm…
As Ren walked deep in thought he didn't realize he had already made it back, he opened the door still thinking and completely cut off from the outside world in his mind he didn't notice the three large swinging axes as he walked through the hallway and up the stairs, absent mindedly dodging the paint can swinging towards him as he trekked up and opening the door to his room in the attic and laying down on his bed.
"OH! COME! ON! THAT TOOK ME SO LONG TO SET UP! HOW DO YOU KEEP DOING THAT!" the voice shouted from downstairs causing Ren to jolt back out of his head.
"Oops never mind I guess, didn't need to plan at all 'he' messed up his timing again. Heh stupid Rat."
