A/N: I'm sorry for the long wait. I was going to post sooner but a bunch of stuff popped up. I plan to finish my sequel to this after I finish this story. Hopefully, it doesn't take as long to finish this time since I'm trying to make the chapters longer by combining some of the old chapters and adding new things here and there to make the story run a little smoother. I decided to change the POV to make it easier to write in the future so I hope it's not too weird. I'll try posting soon. In the meantime please enjoy this chapter.

All that Kai could think was run. He needed to run, he had to run. The sky was so black not a drop of light went through, there wasn't enough light to even make a shadow. Building after building collapsed into piles of debris in every direction. Footsteps behind him got louder as he struggled to move faster, his ankle and arm throbbed in pain with each step. For some reason, he turned around only to see the other ninja getting closer.

Laughter echoed through the air and sent chills down his spine. "You can't run forever, ninja." The Overlord cackled. "I will find you. I will always find you!"

Kai shook his head and kept going only to trip over a piece of debris, falling on his broken arm. "Urg... Dang it!" New laughter had joined in and he looked up, seeing the others, pull out their swords.

"Did ya have a nice trip?" Jay laughed.

Again with the puns? Some things just don't change. "Back up! I don't want to hurt you." He got back to his feet and backed away slowly.

"Look at how weak he is!" Cole joined in. "It's pathetic!

"It is no wonder he found his true potential last" Zane stated "He could not have found it quicker if he was given step-by-step instructions!"

Kai glared at them. "I could beat you all with one hand tied behind my back!"

They looked at eachother and burst into laughter.

"You have a broken arm! You might as well tie your leg behind your back too!" Jay laughed.

The three of them moved closer as he backed away a little more. The air grew colder as the sound of glass shattering filled the air; he felt the ground give out under him. Last thing he saw was his friends laughing faces as pounding laughter filled his ears.

The next thing Kai knew, he jolt awake looking around as he tried to catch his breath. Looking around he saw he was back in the dojo.

"Just a dream.." he sighed, putting a hand to my head.

Dr. Julien ran into the room. "I heard screaming, is everything alright?" he asked, clearly worried.

Screaming… great… "Just a weird dream… How long was I out?" Kai yawned.

"A little over 2 hours." He walked over, looking over my arm. "Hmm… It doesn't look any worse, that's good."

He winced slightly. "Yeah... just sore. Any word from Sensei?"

He moved to Kai's ankle and paused for a moment before checking it. "No, nothing yet."

What's taking them so long… He stood as Dr. Julien moved away. "I'm going out there."

"Kai, I'm sure they are fine. You are lucky it isn't as bad as Lloyd's leg. You need rest." He replied quickly.

"Lloyd is a strong kid." He stated. "If they are still looking then they aren't looking in the right area. They should have been back with him by now."

"The other ninja are still out there, what if you are caught?"

"I'll use Spinjitzu."

"Your Spinjitzu is weakened by your injuries. You'll just make it worse." He replied.

"Well it's better than doing nothing!" Kai snapped back.

He sighed. "I can see I can't stop you… At least take Dareth with you as back-up." He walked over to the training equipment.

"Dareth?! You can't be serious! He isn't even a ninja!" I can't take him, he'll get us killed! "He's more of a hazard than anything. I'll end up saving his butt every five seconds!"

"Well I'm not going and you need someone with you. He also controls those stone soldiers." Dr. Julien walked back over with a bo staff and handed it to me. "Take this to help you walk, I don't have a cane so this will have to work."

Kai sighed, rolling his eyes. "Fine… Tell him to meet out front. If he's not there in five minutes I'm going without him."

Dr. Julien nodded and left the room. After stumbling a little he made it to the hall and into the main area. People from all over the city were crowded there.

Great… Just need to get out of here before anything-

"Oh look Ed, Kai's awake!"

Else happens… He turned around and smile at Jay's parents. "Hey there, Mr. and Mrs. Walker"

"Shouldn't you be resting? We heard about your battle you know."

At least they know about Jay then… "I took a nap. Besides, if evil won't rest why should I." He replied.

"But you can't run off little sleep!" Ed stated.

"Oh, he's right, Kai! You'll stumble into trouble that way! Especially injured." Edna added.

The red ninja sighed. "I need to help find Lloyd. Dareth is coming with." Not that I had a choice about it.

"Hmm… well, I suppose if you stay safe," Enda said.

"Of course he will! He's a ninja!" Ed told her.

If I hurry I can leave without Dareth. "I better get going before it gets dark. It was nice talking with you."

They both waved goodbye and went back to what they were talking about. Moving a little faster, he nearly got to the door before Cole's dad stepped in the way.

"Now where do you think you're going, young man. I haven't seen you boys since the race!" He pat his shoulder roughly.

"We've been kinda busy. You know, stone souldiers and battling evil." I just wanted to get out of here! "I was actually going out to look for Lloyd, so I better get going"

He looked over me and frowned. "Are you sure? Your Sensei told me all about your fight. I thought you'd be resting."

"I feel like I slept a whole year." He lied, not mentioning he barely slept cause of a nightmare. "I'll be fine, Dareth is going with since he controls the stone souldiers."

"Hmm… Well if you say so, I wish you luck finding the kid." He gave him another pat on the shoulder before going back to join his group.

Now to get out of here before Dareth can catch up. Kai pushed through the crowd and out the door.

"Heeey, Kai what took you so long?"

He turned quickly to find Dareth leaning against the wall. "What- How'd you get here before me?!"

"A ninja never reveals their secrets. Hiya!" He tried kicking the air only to trip over his belt and fall flat o his back.

Kai facepalmed. So much for making this quick and simple… "Let's get moving, the sooner we find Lloyd the better. Who knows if he's hurt out there." He started limping in the last direction he'd last seen the younger ninja.

Dareth jumped to his feet, pretending nothing happened as he continued making fake fighting sounds.

Urg… This is going to be a long day…

Meanwhile… In the Overlords fortress

Zane entered the dimly lit room, the only source of light being purple torches that lined the walls leading to a massive throne. He knelt before the throne.

"Hmm… Speak. What brings you here?" The Overlords voice echoed through the room, making the floor rumble.

"My Lord, Kai has been spotted wandering your city with the brown ninja, Dareth." The ninjroid stated.

"Hmm… I see…" The dragon thought for a moment before smiling evilly. "Zane, I have a task for you."

The ninja looked up and smiled. "What would you like me to do, Master?"
