Part 27: What Just Happened?

"So…" Adrien blushed. "Marinette. Ladybug. Can't say I saw that coming."

Kat rolled her eyes. The three were in Marinette's room, Mari and Adrien on the floor, Kat on the chaise longue (I looked it up, it's the really long chair thing). Plagg and Tikki were up on the roof. Apparently, Plagg wanted to sunbathe, and it didn't matter that Tikki told him he couldn't tan.

"Adrien, sweetie, sweetheart, Cinnabon, you constantly talk about how beautiful her eyes and hair are. They don't change color. Heck, her hair doesn't even change its style. You're just really clueless, sweets."

Marinette watched Adrien with a slightly bewildered look. She let out a small gasp.

"You've been flirting with me. For...oh, how did I not notice?" Mari facepalmed. Her cheeks turned redder than a tomato, quickly followed by the rest of her face. Adrien's eyes narrowed, accompanied by a frown.

"Why're you blushing, Marinette? I know you probably think it was all an act, and everything, but I…"

"That's not why she's blushing," Kat cut in, a sly smile on her face.

"You're not going to—"

"Oh, I am. I am."

"Not going to what?" Adrien was completely lost.

"You're her cruuuush," Kat sing-song-ed. Adrien blinked as his brain took a moment to register what she said. He turned to face Marinette.

"You like me? As in, like me-like me?"

Marinette blushed a deeper red and nodded. Kat tried to hold back a laugh (and failed terribly).

"Adrien, Marinette has been in love with you since you met. Well, at least from when you gave her that umbrella."

"What?" Adrien gasped. "I thought...you thought...of us as friends."

"We are friends!" Marinette said quickly.

Adrien froze, which caused Mari to worry. Finally, Adrien whispered, "I was in love with you too."

"Really?"

"I was in love with Ladybug, Marinette," Adrien continued, "and you were right under my nose the entire time."

"I would really like to know why you didn't notice," said Kat. "As I said before--"

"My eyes and hair changed when I transformed," replied Adrien. "I thought Ladybug's did, too."

"You--" Kat narrowed her eyes. "Actually, that makes a lot of sense."

The three friends contemplated everything that had occurred over the past few hours, and everything that might occur. Just as Kat was about to suggest they go down to the bakery to get some food, a headache made her groan.

"Aah!" Kat grasped her head as pain spread through her skull.

"Kat, what's wrong?" Marinette and Adrien crouched on both sides of their friend, each with a hand on her shoulders.

"My head…" Kat slumped forward. The newly revealed superheroes caught her.

"What's wrong with her?" Adrien asked.

"I don't know." They slowly lowered her to the floor. Kat continued to groan. The floor began to shake.

"What's going on?" The two superheroes asked in unison. Plagg and Tikki flew into the room.

"Marinette, what's going on?" Tikki asked.

"We don't know."

Kat forced herself to take deep, even breaths to breathe through the pain. Flashes of episodes flew through her mind. Except, they weren't Miraculous episodes that she recognized. There were new characters and villains and...Hawkmoth with the peacock miraculous? That couldn't be right. Marinette a guardian? That might be right. With each new image, the pain in her head worsened. She blacked out.

Marinette, Adrien, and their kwamis stood (and hovered) in place. A pool of sparkling black and blue spread beneath Kat, slowly rising around her unconscious form. At the last second, Marinette and Adrien grabbed Kat's arms. The kwamis joined in. All four of them pulled with all their strength, but to no avail. Whatever this thing was, it had a hold on Kat that couldn't be broken. With a combined scream from the four of them, they were all sucked into the swirling, growing pool of black and blue. Everything snapped back to normal.

Except for the three friends and two kwamis.

Okay...so it's been a while. A very long while. A very, very long while. I apologize. I'd blame Covid, but I actually just got distracted doing other things. But I'm back, and that's the important thing! I recently watched season 4, so that's where we are headed! I can't guarantee that I will update Miraculous Kat regularly, but I'll try not to have like a year of a gap. I've also taken a few creative writing classes, so hopefully my writing has improved in the last four years and it'll be easier reading from here on out. Once again, sorry for the long time between updates.
