Ivo Robotnik gazed irritably forwards, the overly waxed hairs of his firey red moustache tingling and furrowing in anger that bubbled within the rotund human like magma deep within the core of a bubbling, dormant volcano.

He looked at the great, smoking wreck of twisted metal and electronics sticking out of the soft, ruined earth like a great monolith of ruined and lost technology. He had done this hundreds and hundreds of times, that blasted hedgehog always found a way to damage it over and over and over again.

His baby blue eyes analysed the considerable damage to the small vessel, it was rather…excessive even by the standards of that insolent whelp known as Sonic The Hedgehog, the boy who constantly found a way to throw a massive spanner in the works of his master plans and sent him hurtling back to square one.

The titanium/tungsten alloy of the small hovercraft was battered and dented in numerous areas, large quill shaped marks and scratches dotted the damaged frame of the vehicle, the small engine compartment had been violently blown wide open, dangerous and highly flammable chemical fuel leaking slowly from the opened hatch like a small running stream, all the while a small, wispy cloud of smoke emerged from it.

The damage was considerable, but it was still manageable and that was enough for the doctor.

He rummaged a gloved hand through the many pockets of his large, crimson lab coat and swiftly pulled out a small, yet rather battered wrench. He sighed irritably, knowing how much time it would take to repair his egg-mobile mk2

However before he could begin to work on repairing his considerably damaged ship, he heard a familiar yet rather annoying voice that was the last thing he had wanted to hear in that moment,

"Doctor! We're back!"

He grumbled to himself and forced himself to turn and face his two creations, who frantically raced towards him, a mysterious yellow and grey mass was gently cradled within Orbot's cold metallic arms, but the doctor couldn't make out what the thing was.

He spoke to them, rage and irritation present in his voice as he half-yelled at them,

"Finally! Where on Earth have you two been?! You've been gone for over 4 hours! And what are you carrying Orbot?" he yelled, the mysterious yellow bundle slightly shaking within the machine's arms.

But mysteriously, his creation…whispered to the yellowish ball and…stroked it? But the realisation hit the doctor when Cubot this time said to him,

"Not what boss…Who. Miles, you can come out now."

Robotnik's eyes turned to gaze upon the small, fluffy ball and then saw it…shift, as if resembling the movement of two large, puffy, bushy tails that were tightly wrapped around a tiny body underneath.

And the surprise in the doctor grew as his assumption was immediately confirmed mere milliseconds after the very thought passed through his incredible brain, like a car on a motorway, the small bushy appendages of the creature uncurling to reveal the a tiny, thin body of a miniscule fox cub, not a day over 2 and a half. Two bright, baby blue eyes stared up at him with a mixture of curiosity and fright while the toddler's tiny hands held his tails close while Orbot softly rocked him in his cold, steel arms.

Eggman's confusion had hit an incredibly high point and a multitude of questions shot through his mind like lightning bolts. Who was this kid? Why was he here? Why is he so filthy and scared looking? Those were just a few examples of the hundreds he was internally asking.

"W-What is the meaning of this Orbot?! Explain yourself!" he bellowed in impossible frustration.

The tiny fox whimpered at the loud yell and tried feebly to bury his face within his two large, bushy tails in an effort to hide from the world, but more specifically the doctor's visible anger.

"Hey, don't do that Doctor! You're scaring the kid!"

The doctor grumbled, the frustration building up in him like a great roaring pyre, burning at his heart.

"Well at least tell me why you have the kid here?!"

he exclaimed, in a slightly calmer tone as to not startle the toddler like last time, however the effect of this was still rather…limited. The little fox was still visibly afraid of the doctor and was worried about being hurt by him and cast out.

"Doctor he needs our help! You don't understand he-"

"Help?! What help could he get from us? Especially now Orbot! Now take that kid back to his family and make a formal apology, I may be evil but I'm not heartless!:

Orbot sighed in irritation, his grip of little Miles slightly tightening.

"That's the point Doctor! He doesn't have a family! He's an orphan!" The robot yelled at his creator, anger bubbling in the machine's CPU.

Robotnik's face softened, small twinges of guilt striking at his heart, why, just why did he say that? God why did he have to be so insensitive at times?

"Well he at least has somebody right?" he cautiously asked, not wanting to make the small boy cry after all, he still had standards for evil.

If you build a colossal death ray that could reduce a city to ash then you were respected. If you made an orphaned toddler cry then you were quite rightfully a seen as a scumbag who deserved to be dragged kicking and screaming into an alleyway and then shot for doing such a malicious act.

Orbot looked down the tiny fox who was tightly curled up in his arms, the tiny boy was visibly shaking and the gentle rocking manoeuvre didn't help him at all, so he slowly looked up at his creator and shook his head slowly, the servos in his neck creaking softly as he did so,

"Nope…He was abandoned at birth Doctor, by everyone. He's hated by everyone in that village and can barely survive there. They beat him up with metal pipes doctor! He doesn't have anyone to go to, and if you won't help him…I will!" he exclaimed, Miles flinching softly in his arms.

Robotnik approached his creation, a bleak and saddened look on his face, he then softly stroked one of the boy's great, bushy tails.

"I know you want to help Orbot… really do, but we can't help him, not here anyway. He can stay with us until the egg-mobile's repaired. Then we can try and find someone who can take care of him. It may seem cruel to leave him Orbot, but this kid can't grow up with us. It would be inhumane to…Hang on where's the kid gone?"

Orbot looked down into his arms and mysteriously…Miles wasn't there, only a couple of clinging, dark yellow hairs that belonged to the small boy, Orbot's cpu kicked into overdrive with what could best be described as panic,

"Miles? Miles?! MILES!" he called, wanting to know where on earth his little buddy was, he couldn't have run away! It was only a few seconds since he had last looked down at him.

However, Cubot swiftly located the tiny boy, it was the small, hatch to the egg mobile's engine, but instead of billowing smoke emerging from the engine, it was two large bushy tails and a pair of tiny kicking little legs.
