Harley was at Joey's place picking out an outfit for the prom tomorrow or more like Harley talking about Joey's outfits in her closet not being the best while Joey waited for Harley to pick out a dress as she was on her bed reading a book. Dresses were all around the room and some on the bed so Joey was basically trying not to scream at Harley.

"Brutal. Do not let your enemies have access to this closet. Tell me this was purchased for some sort of Halloween church lady costume."

"Ok, I get it. You think I am old and I don't have enough good dresses. But one It looks so much better on and two I always thought these dresses are cute. And no way am I going to go out and pay for another dress just for one night."

"Keep telling yourself that, sweetie."

Daisy and Pacey then walked in and both had the same expression on their faces as if they were saying what happened here?

"I know it's a mess," Joey said and kissed Daisy on the cheek as well as Pacey.

"What exactly does rosemary's baby want?" Pacey asked as he watched Harley pull out more dresses from the closet.

" She wants me to chaperone the Milton semi-formal."

"Would that involve you being in a dress?"

"Mm-hmm."

"And heels."

"Possibly."

"Well, ok. Consider my arm twisted. I'll be there. Shoe shined and suit pressed." Pacey said and kissed Joey on the lips.

Harley popped out of the closet and pulled out a frilly dress. "What's this?"

"Oh, that's one of my old dresses. You can borrow if you liked." Joey said as Daisy walked up to Harley as Harley felt the dress.

"No way. One… what even is this fabric, rayon?"

"It's silk!" Joey said as Harley gives her a look. "Blend."

" No way, am I going to wear that. You need to look good, but not too good. The men at Milton are weak of constitution and highly susceptible to the wiles of the older woman. So, seeing as it's my night, and my fair-weather, jack-of-no-trades, boyfriend Patrick is going to be there, and he has some sort of unholy attachment to you, we're gonna keep your wiles covered. Under... this lovely subdued dress."

Pacey started laughing as Joey rolled her eyes. She turned to Pacey and gave him a look as if to say you heard what I just heard?

"Harley, I think this dress is going to look good on Mommy," Daisy said as she felt the dress.

"Thank you, baby," Joey said.

"You know, Potter. Harley has a point." Pacey said.

"And what point may that be?" Joey asked.

" You are way too hot to be a chaperone," Pacey said with a wink and kissed her lips as Joey's face turned red.

"Well, I just hope Patrick doesn't see that because I want him to see me. When I walk in there, everyone is going to be in awe of my dress. So, Joey do you think I should go pasties or strapless?"

"Neither! I'm considering investing in a chastity belt for you."

"Can I come, Mommy?" Daisy asked.

"Not this time, honey. You will get to go to prom in high school but for now how about you go to Lillian's house and sleepover."

"Really?!" Daisy said jumping up and down.

"Yep," Joey said.

"I got to go pack up!" Daisy said as she raced out of the room.

"How about me?" Pacey said as he pulled Joey into him. "Do I get to sleep over?"

"Yes, you do for even two nights if you want," Joey said and kissed his lips.

"Hello!? People we aren't done here!"

"I'm sorry, madam what can I do for you?" Joey said still in Pacey's arm.

"If you're gonna be chaperoning my semi-formal, I need you to wear something that's moderately hip so I don't look like a freak associating with you. Not like sultry, older woman sexy. What am I saying? I'd never find anything like that in this closet."

"I'll see you tomorrow Harley."

"I'm out. Bye, Pacey. Bye Daisy." Harley said as she run to the door.

Joey and Pacey laughed as they watch her leave.

"You remember that?"

"I remember everything."

May 5, 2007

Joey walked into the living room as Pacey stand at the door looking at a photo as he was in a suit and carrying two flower boxes.

"Hey," Joey said and Pacey turned around.

"Hi, Oh my Lord. Harley was right, You are way too hot to be a chaperone. I think I'm living out one of my teenage fantasies right now." Pacey said as he looked at her in amazement.

"Well, you look quite comely yourself."

"Oh, this old thing? Nah." Pacey said and then kissed her lips. They continue kissing til Joey cleared her throat to get them to stop.

"Ok, now, in order to make up for our last high school dance experience, in which I did actually buy you a corsage, but then I let it wilt to a lovely shade of brown, I brought you options."

"Pacey…" Joey said holding in her laughter. "That's in the past. And I have forgiven you for that."

"It still haunts me to this day."

"Is it weird to think I was pregnant with Daisy then?"

"That's really weird," Pacey said. "Even weirder to think that we are standing here and you are mine now after everything."

He kissed her and then pushed her hair back. "The options?" Joey asked.

" Inbox "a"... we have the corsage for the fun-loving and whimsical Joey- a carved radish on a bed of baby carrots. And then, option "b"... the corsage for the classic and sophisticated Joey- roses on a bed of baby's breath, which has a creepy name but is a classic flower."

"Well, in honor of the youth with whom we'll be sharing the dance floor, I think I'm gonna go with option "A." The veggies."

He put the veggie courage on her wrist and Joey gives this big smile at him. It reminded him of how Daisy smiled when he said she could have ice cream as a snack.

"Cool. And in honor of the classy guy, you are tonight." Joey said and then pins a rose on his jacket.

"Don't be fooled. It's just a costume." Pacey said as Joey straighten his black tie that was crooked.

"Don't doubt yourself, Pace," Joey said and kissed his cheek.

"Shall we?" Pacey asked and grabbed her jacket for her.

"We shall," Joey whispered as Pacey wrapped Joey's jacket around Joey. Pacey hugged her from behind and Joey smiled as she put her hands on his hand.

"This will be fun," Joey whispered as he spun her around and led her to the door.

After Pacey and Joey picked up Harley and Patrick they drove to the school. Joey held Pacey's hand as they walked to the door of the school. Once they got in they noticed the whole gym was decorated with castles and knights. They haven't even been there for a minute and Pacey and Joey could see the pout on Harley's face. Pacey couldn't also help but notice Patrick giving Pacey a look every so often. He couldn't help but laugh at this because he knew at one point he was like him wanting and needing the older women. Only this time, Pacey got the older woman while the sixteen-year-old boy was jealous over it.

"I just love the smell of secret antiperspirant in the evening," Pacey said. Joey hit his arm and glared at him. "It had to be said," Pacey said

"This whole night bites already. I haven't even gotten to the part where my friends swarm around me and shriek about how much they love my dress." Harley whined.

"Harley, you're not the first woman in the history of semi-formals to accompany a non-dancing date. Mr. Witter over here was famously uncooperative when it came to the booty shake."

"Hey, I danced."

"Under duress," Joey said. The words that were unspoken were in the air very much. The words that Pacey could have been said was Pacey didn't dance with her because he broke up with her before they even could. Pacey rubbed Joey's back as if to say I know what you meant and I am here now.

"Honey, this guy's obviously not of sound mind to hurt the feelings of a babe like you," Patrick told Joey. Joey and Harley glared at him while Pacey couldn't help but laugh.

As Harley got complaints on her dress from a couple of friends. Pacey kissed Joey's hand and Joey smiled at him. But it quickly stopped when Patrick made a smart comment to Harley and Harley said I hate you, Patrick. Joey let go of Pacey's hand to stop from Harley crying.

"Patrick, perhaps you'd like to go over to the punch bowl and retrieve some drinks? I think she might wanna claw your eyes out." Joey tells Patrick and he smiled at her and leaves.

Pacey then surprised Joey but what he says next to Harley. "Have you ever noticed how much that dress brings out your eyes?" Pacey said.

"No…" Harley says but Joey fully knew Harley knew.

"Oh, well, it does. You look so pretty tonight, and I bet if you and I were to step out on the dance floor, you would be, by far, the most beautiful woman on it." Pacey told Harley and then held out his arm as Joey watched Pacey lead Harley to the dance floor. She couldn't help but smile at this. Every time she thinks she knows what Pacey is going to do. He always seems to surprise her.

Patrick walked back over with no drinks in his hand and rudely Interrupted her thoughts.

"Would you care for a dance?" Patrick asked

"Where are your drinks?" Joey asked him without looking at him but still looking at Pacey and Harley.

"Oh, beverages. I was wondering why I went over there."

Joey shook her head and give him a look and then quickly looked back at Pacey and Harley.

"You know, I should tell you that I happen to be close, personal friends with Woody Kulchak, who has snuck in a bottle of pea schnapps tonight. So, if you'd like this dance to be truly magical, I could arrange for cocktails for 2 underneath the bleachers. Just give me the word." Patrick whispered closely to her ear.

"No," Joey said and walked away. In the background, she could hear him say Think about it, babe.

A little later, Joey was at the punch bowl getting a drink when Pacey put his chin on her shoulder.

"What kind of school dance actually has a punch bowl?"

"A schmancy private school dance," Joey said as he pushed back her hair and kissed her neck.

"Well, I hope for the sake of all involved, that some intrepid student has spiked this punch, or else it kind of loses out on its cliché value."

"Hmm, you know Patrick just to hype up the fact he knew a guy to get himself to seem good."

"Ha, that's funny," Pacey said as Joey turned and kissed him.

"What was that for?"

"For being the man that never fails to surprise me."

"And what did I do this time, Miss. Potter?"

"You treated Harley like Patrick should be treating Harley. I don't know why I was surprised over how kind you were to her when she needed someone to be kind to her. So, that's only the first part of gratitude for you."

"Oh, yeah… and what would the second part be?" Pacey asked.

Joey went close to his ear and whispered. "Guess you will have to find out tonight, Mr. Witter," Joey said as she kissed behind his ear.

But before it could get anywhere farther than a kiss, Pacey and Joey heard Harley yelling at Patrick.

"Patrick, let him go! Let him go!"

"Why should I? You guys were dancing pelvis to pelvis like it was going out of style." Patrick yelled back at her.

"It was my only recourse after you failed me in every way! Jamie came to my aid!"

"Jamie is not your date! I am!"

"In name only! Did you do one date-like thing the entire night?"

"Please, this is date-like!"

Joey and Pacey watched this for a minute until Joey realize that this could really badly any minute."

"Aren't you going to do something before this gets worse?" Joey asked Pacey

"Yeah, Yeah. Of course. It's just… It's so funny."

Joey gave Pacey a dirty look and it didn't take long before Pacey went out there and in between the two boys.

"Ok, ok, ok. Hey, break it up you two." Pacey said to the boys and pushed them from one another.

"That's how you win my heart? By trying to give the guy a wedge?!" Harley yelled at Patrick

"It's called the Koran maga, and used it in enough," Patrick told her.

"Hey, it's patty from the block," Jamie yelled and the crowd laughed.

"You walked right into that one bud," Pacey said.

"Yeah, that wasn't even funny, buddy," Patrick said as he tried to get closer to Jamie but Pacey didn't let him.

"Come on… your girlfriend liked it." Jamie told Patrick.

"Oh yeah?" Patrick said and then takes a swing at Jamie but ends up hitting Pacey in the ear.

"All right. Jo take Harley. I'll take Patrick." Pacey said and took Patrick by the collar and into the boy's bathroom as Joey followed behind to go to the girl's bathroom.

When Harley and Joey walked into the bathroom, Harley started sobbing. She sat on the bathroom sink as Joey got a paper towel to wipe Harley's tears and mascara off that was smeared across her eyes.

"Look at me! I look completely hideous." Harley cried.

"No, you don't. You look like a rock star." Joey said and wiped Harley's eyes.

"Please tell me you are kidding."

"No, you have the whole smoky eye look going or did."

"Ugh look at me. I'm crying in the bathroom."

"When I was in high school. I was crying in that exact place you were."

"Listen, Joey, I don't wanna hurt your feelings, but my high school experiences shouldn't really be the same as yours, or I'm doing something terribly, terribly wrong. "

"Well I think you should listen to me and what I have to say even if you think it's wrong." Joey said as she sat next to Harley."

"Alright.." Harley said as she looked at Joey.

"You know at your age, I fell in love with Pacey. And it was a mountain of emotions. But the first prom I went to with him, I remember taking his hand and he gave me the whole speech that I will never forget. But to shorten it up into what he had said it was that he remembered everything. He remembered when I am upset, or when I tell him something important because he loved me. And even though the next prom wasn't a picture-perfect moment, I knew at that moment I still needed him. Because it was different than the first prom, it was different because I love him more than I did before. Losing him was a worse thing for me then and it would still be the worse thing now."

"How do you know you need someone like you knew with Pacey?" Harley asked.

"Well, I had this best friend Dawson…" Joey said as she got done and got mascara out of Harley's bag. "And we went on a trip to his aunt's house. She told me this story about how she stayed in this relationship that made her safe and comfortable but when she met this another man how she felt alive for the very first time. That night after I heard that Pacey kissed me and for the first time I felt what I knew deep in my heart the kiss made me feel alive and like I needed more. That's how I knew I needed someone like Pacey."

"What do boys even have to suffer through? I mean girls have to find a good meaning to be with someone while they do what?" Harley asked as she looked at herself in the mirror.

"Thinking they're gonna have sex afterward and being sorely disappointed."

"Well.."

"Harley, I'm pretty sure you said you didn't want your life to turn out like mine. As much as I was ready and as much as I wanted to do it. I would have told myself to wait. Of course, that would literally change everything and probably wouldn't have us sitting here today…"

"Relax," Harley said.

"I'll be right back, I'm going to see how the boys are."

Pacey and Patrick were in the bathroom talking as Pacey tried to talk some sense into the sixteen-year-old.

"I'm all for the grand romantic gesture, but next time, instead of flailing around wildly, why don't you just tell her that you like her? And then, if you still feel the need for throwing a punch afterward, pick an enemy your own size. Like an opossum." Pacey said.

"Oh, yeah. Yeah. Like you're the rock or something." Patrick said as he rolled his eyes.

"Hey, hobbit, at least I can grow facial hair."

"What do you call this?" Patrick said as he looked in the mirror.

"Lint."

"So what do I have to do?"

"Don't be afraid to be nice to her."

"Oh. So, by nice to her, you mean…"

"I mean tell her you like her shoes."

"Oh and her.. uh," Patrick said and nodded his head.

"I mean tell her that you like her, idiot," Pacey said as he hit Patrick on the back of the head.

Patrick then pushed Pacey and the two pushed each other back and forth until Joey walked in and saw them the two then quickly stopped.

"Hello? Everything ok?" Joey said as she had to bite her lip from laughing at the scene that unfolded in her eyes.

"Yeah, fine," Patrick said as his neck was wrapped around Pacey's arms.

"Everything's good in here," Pacey said as he didn't look into her eyes

Joey smiled and nodded. "Just checking. Do you think you guys could be done soon so that way you could meet us on the dance floor?"

"Yeah." Patrick and Pacey both said at the same time.

"Ok," Joey said as she leaves.

"Yeah, I don't know why I should be taking advice from you. Like you're some kind of Yoda when it comes to the chicks." Patrick said as she straighten up his suit.

"Have you seen my date?" Pacey asked.

"Tell me more sensei."

Pacey walked out and saw Joey sitting down on the bleachers out into the distance. He nodded at Patrick who went to Harley and took her hand as Pacey was left to Joey.

The song that was playing was older, a song he didn't think he would hear nowadays. But as he listen he figured it would be a good song to dance to for the first time in a while with Joey.

I see the crystal raindrops fall

And the beauty of it all

Is when the sun comes shining through

To make those rainbows in my mind

When I think of you sometime

And I wanna spend some time with you

"May I have this dance?" Pacey whispered holding out his hand to grab hers. Just like she did not too many years ago.

"You may," Joey whispered back.

The two went on the dance floor and Joey rubbed Pacey's ear that Patrick had punched earlier.

"He got you pretty good." She whispered.

"He sure did."

"I feel like prom has changed so much since the last time," Pacey said as he pulled her in and she rest her head on her shoulder.

"That damn rap music"

"And those baggy pants. Even with the damage to my unsuspecting eardrum, I did think that tonight was quite nice. Quite nice."

"It's been a perfect night," Joey whispered as they slow danced to the song. Joey listened to the words of the song and decided this was the perfect moment to tell him what was on her mind.

I hear the crystal raindrops fall

On the window down the hall

And it becomes the morning dew

And darling when the morning comes

And I see the morning sun

I wanna be the one with you

"Pace?" Joey whispered as she lift her head up.

"Yeah?"

"I love you," Joey whispered.

"I love you too, Jo," Pacey said and kissed her lips softly.

That night was one of the most passionate night that Joey and Pacey had since the first time they made love. Even though last time was great this time there was no fear or any wonder whether this was going to go anywhere. They were there and at the moment for the first time in a long time.
