AU – modern day, might be OOC. It's my first fic ever. xD please bare with me and give constructive criticism.
Sasunaru for now; possibly other pairings later.
Summary: Modern day with no ninja. Sasuke and Naruto have been together for 6 years. They have been living together for a year, but now a domino effect beginning from a single event, is starting to rip the two apart. "But not permanently, right?" Naruto begs.
Chapter one: It starts.
3:25pm
Glancing at the clock for the umpteenth time, Naruto sighed at his workstation. Another hour and a half before he can get off work, which makes it another 2 and a half hours before he can get home. I wonder if Sasuke will be home in time for dinner with me. Naruto sighed again. Else, I won't see him until 10 o'clock.
These past 2 months have been tough, and will continue to be for another 3 before things can get better. Naruto has been seeing Sasuke less and less. What with his work and school and Sasuke's overtime. Sometimes Naruto wonders if he overestimated his abilities – working full time and taking 6 classes at the local community college, concurrently. Perhaps, he has been overly ambitious. But it was not a rash decision – the classes and work were doable – and Sasuke support was what had cinched the deal. The only side-effect was Naruto had so little free time that he and Sasuke barely get to hang out anymore. Ironic, since they finally live together. But it was the best course of action, for their future together; because the sooner Naruto was done with his classes, the sooner he can get his license from the state and raking in the big bucks. Then, finally, he and Sasuke could buy a house together and settle down permanently. No more renting, moving, and landlords. But for Naruto especially, no more being tied down to the dead end job and the evil, evil boss he had been serving for the past 2 years.
Coming out of his thoughts, Naruto turned back to his computer, the same iron resolve from 2 month ago echoing in his mind, I will pass all my classes even if it kills me. After this semester, the license he had been trying to attain would finally be his, and he and Sasuke will be set for life. I just have to hang in there for another 3 month…
and it will all be worth it…
