Thank you all who reviewed to my post against SOPA! SOPA has been offically halted thanks to everyone who signed the petition! Now we can write our stories without being arrested!
Now, as I said I would do, I have some responses.
AtkiakFF: Thanks for signing! You were right about SOPA dying, but I don't doubt it will come back.
fernfury: Yep, I'd say we definitely had enough signatures huh?
Wolf(Guest): Are you calling my warning, or SOPA dumb? I hope it's not my warning D= I ove writing and watching AMVs too, that's why I signed. I totally agree that we shouldn't have to sign anything. Having these things are all part of our first admenment, thus explaining the internet shut down day in 2011 (Horrid day. I was never able to complete me Literature essay for that and I got a zero for it.). You should always speak your opion, as every voice counts!
Disclaimer: I do not own How To Train Your Dragon! I only own my OC.
I could barely sleep last night as the guilt and pain were messing with my head. Around four, I knew it was no good, so I threw the sheets off of me and went downstairs, treading past Stoick's room and went outside. The crisp dawn air felt nice on what I thought to be my burning skin. I closed my eyes and sighed. I heard footsteps behind me and turned to see Hiccup.
"Couldn't sleep." We both said to each other. We cracked up, but Hiccup suddenly stopped.
"Hey Ven," he said, not looking at me. "Do… do you think it's possible for me to have some powers too?" I frowned and tilted my head. Why would he ask now and not after the raid where he shot down Toothless?
"Well… if you were a shifter, you would've shifted with me." I said slowly, trying to remember all of the things that added up to Hiccup possibly having some Shifter powers. He acted like he could understand Dragonese. When he was angry, his eyes turned toxic green like Toothless'. "But everything you do suggests otherwise." I said, narrowing my eyes. We had both blacked out from the pain. Could the Elder, who had watched us that night, be hiding something from us? I had to test my theory. "Come on. We need to get to the cove."
"What? Why?" he asked. I didn't respond as I grabbed both of our daggers and slid them into my jacket pocket. I went to the cove and Toothless came out instantly. He nuzzled me and looked at us in concern.
"Are you two okay?" he asked. I looked at Hiccup, who looked at me evenly.
"We're fine." He answered, making my stomach drop. I closed my eyes and inhaled sharply.
"Please tell us why you didn't come forward the first time you interacted with Toothless?" I asked, turning around. I felt his hurt over the bond and tried not to shudder.
"Because I wasn't sure if it was good or not." He said, his tone still the same. "Now I know that everything that I'm able to do is good. Ven, you have no idea how lucky you are." I laughed bitterly.
"You two honestly think I'm that lucky? I'm shunned by half the village and our own father thinks I should've died." I scoffed. "You should keep your curse a secret Hiccup. Being the Dragon Shifter is having a death sentence. If Hátign doesn't kill me, the outcasts will." I saw Toothless shudder at the thought of Hátign killing me. Honestly, it would be better than Alvin. "We should go."
"You're going to?" Toothless asked. I sighed and nodded.
"She has to Toothless." Hiccup said, explaining for me. "The village will be convinced she's fighting with – who was it again, Hátign? – the dragons. She comes, but doesn't watch and she stays sick for a while."
"Okay, we need to go." I said, standing up and pulling on his sleeve. We got to the arena at the same time as Astrid. I had a sinking feeling that Hiccup was going to do something stupid. I gave him a quick hug and went beside Stoick, who looked at me in worry.
"Venusar, are you okay?" he asked. I closed my eyes, but that only brought up images of the nest. My eyes snapped open and I shook my head slightly.
"Bad dreams." I said hoarsely. "Hátign is stirring. She plans to kill the dragon twins." He looked confused. "She still believes Hiccup has powers when we know he does not." He nodded once before we both turned to the ring. I could watch up until they were about to kill the dragon. Hookfang, the Nightmare who decided to surrender so she could be near me, was the dragon chosen.
Hiccup chose the dagger and I jumped up from where I was kneeling. Gods, don't let him do what I think he's about to do! Sadly, when they let Hookfang out, she crawled on the chains, causing everyone but me to step back. "Venus, isn't that your brother?" she asked. I closed my eyes and nodded. When I opened them, she was sniffing Hiccup. He dropped his dagger and threw his helmet away. "Youngling, what are you doing?!"
"I'm not one of them!" he proclaimed. Stoick looked murderous and hit his hammer against the cage. The louder than life echoes hit my over sensitive ears and I screamed, covering them. I could tell Hookfang had the same reaction and let her true dragon senses take over.
"HICCUP!" I screamed, watching him both wince and duck, avoiding Hookfang's snap. I didn't think of the consequences as I jumped through a hole and transformed. I snapped at Hookfang, who snapped back at me. Sadly, I was in my Night Fury form, which meant I was a whole lot smaller than her. I hissed and arched my back as the rouge forced me into a corner.
We both heard a familiar power-up and she used my pause to try to launch at me. I rolled under her and tried to run to the gate, where Stoick and Astrid where watching, looking distressed. Where was Hiccup?! I snapped around to see Hookfang grabbing him under her claws. A mix of blue and purple filled my vision and I flinched, covering my head with my wings.
"Night Fury!" I heard Gobber gasp. Toothless! I saw him clawing at Hookfang and I used that time to get Hiccup. I flipped into the air and came back to earth as a human. I turned to Hiccup, who cowered.
What the hell were you thinking?! Hookfang may have come peacefully, but you should know better! I ranted. He cringed, but we both rant to Toothless when Hookfang went back to her cell. "Toothless, you have to leave!" I said, pushing the male night fury with Hiccup.
He refused to budge, but a chilling fire lit up in his toxic green eyes when Stoick came racing at us with an axe. "You!" he growled. He shot out of our grips, which was amazing as I had a death grip on his saddle. He tackled Stoick to the ground and got ready to fire. I admit it, I screamed the one word that I hadn't used since mom died.
"DADDY!" I screeched as Hiccup yelled for Toothless not to hurt him. Toothless stopped getting ready to fire and looked at us with wide eyes. Stoick took that time to pin Toothless. Astrid held both our arms, knowing I wouldn't be able to do anything as I was crying. Toothless whimpered as the dragged him into an empty cell, but I think most of it was seeing me crying and not being able to do anything. Stoick grabbed us roughly and dragged us to the dining hall.
We were both thrown to the floor where Hiccup scrambled up, but I only sat up as I was still crying. "Dad please, I can explain!" he said, looking back at me.
"You best." He grunted, glaring at Hiccup.
"I shot Toothless-." Hiccup began. I winced as Stoick began to yell.
"You named the beast?!" he shouted. I glared at him.
"I did when I was kidnapped!" I screamed back. "It was Toothless' mother who brought be back to Berk! She died two months afterwards from a punishment from Hátign!"
"I could care less for a dead dragon." He growled. I shot up and he realized what he had just said. He had been grateful towards Guolega when she had carried me back, but now it seemed like a hundred years ago.
"I shot him down and he didn't even try to fight back, even when Venus wasn't with me!" he yelped. I looked at him in shock. Why would he go without me? "Dad, he would never harm anyone. He tackled you because-."
"Because I ran to him for comfort when others shun me." I said coldly. Stoick eyes flashed in betrayal. "Toothless is my second brother Stoick. He's there in situations Hiccup cannot and must not be in."
"Dad," Hiccup cut in. "We don't understand them! They're being controlled! In the nest, there's this even-." Stoick grabbed Hiccup's outstretched arm and glared at me.
"You've been to the nest?!" he hissed. "Did you take him?!"
"No, dad, you don't understand! Only a dragon can fully locate the nest! Venus was following Toothless and I." he said, standing up in front of me. I winced away from the tribe leader as Hiccup realized what he just said. Stoick straightened and marched towards the door. We both raced forward and grabbed each one of his arms. "For the first time in our lives, will you just listen to us?!" Hiccup cried out.
Stoick yanked his arms away and made us fall to the ground. "You're not a Viking. You are not my children." He growled, finally disowning us. The tears started again and hiccup quickly hugged me. "Ready the ships!" I heard him yell when the door slammed shut.
"No, no, it's okay Ven." He said. I shook my head violently.
"You know the first time we went to Camp Halfblood?" I asked. He nodded mutely. "I had a nightmare. You and Toothless were fighting Hátign and I wasn't there. S-she killed you both and I couldn't stop it. Now he's going to die because I screamed in pain."
"Not if I can do anything about it." He said defiantly, dragging me to my feet.
You know the drill! Review if you want me to answer a question you've had about the plot or possible sequel (Might just mash them up near the end. No need to prolong Venus' pain) which you can learn about on the sneak peak section of my Bio. I update when I can, so please don't guilt me when i can't update.
