Someone trapped me a few days ago. Some idiot rammed the back of my car while I was at the opening of a roundabout, at a good fast pace too. Been hopped up on painkillers. Anyway, I escaped the trap, to return you all to Macgyver being trapped in deadly nerve gas.
When I was in smarter bodies with more going on upstairs, I had predicted that Jigsaw might be tricky with irony. In the ice room, I had faced being chained to a pipe again, just like in Saw 1. Here I had faced the same poison as had been used in Saw 2. Kramer loved people to die ironic deaths, and what would be more ironic than me dying to what I had survived before?
I knew that I might be facing some sort of poison again, especially after the ankle trap. There were tons of plastic sheets flapping around in this meat factory, so as we had adventured through this place I had been sewing and wiring and affixing myself with plastic wrap. It was a bit restrictive, and would tear in a fight, but that was for later.
I had myself a makeshift hazmat suit.
A voice boomed from a speaker above.
"Hello Macgyver. I want to play a game."
Above me, I saw a segment of the ceiling pull away, wheeled on electric motors, and had a flash of fear. I grabbed the judge, and began running out as a massive fan began spraying something down at us.
I quickly bought Packrat up to A rank, which once a decade allowed me to summon an epic storage device. Epic meant a lot. It was the absolute peak of human manufacturing abilities and let me summon things that had abilities well beyond the normal, for just 26 points. With a burst of mental effort, I chose to summon a chemical waste disposal bag rated to handle chemical weapons. It was thick and covered in plastics that would resist even the most corrosive of wastes.
"Not again. You monster. Stop abducting me." The judge said as I shoved him in the bag and tied it up. With a second action I pulled a makeshift hood around my neck, and with a third I tossed the judge into a fireman's carry.
I almost escaped it. I was at the ridge of the container the judge was in when a rush of air hit me, mixed in with little shards of glass coated in poison. I felt them slice across me, piercing some of my armor, injecting me with more toxin.
You have been hit by a massive dose of a previously used poison. Your D rank air control is inferior to the A ranked fan. You will die in thirty minutes.
Better than instant death without armour but not good.
The voice from above spoke again.
"You have poisoned many people with your toxic ideology, teaching them to avoid suffering rather than cherishing their lives."
I pointed my gun up at the fan, and squeezed the trigger on the pototo cannon. I felt the fire burn my armor as a mess of nails, screws, and random metal junk slammed up into the fan, missing anything important.
"I need to learn to shoot good."
I ran off, and shouted to my companions. "To the next door!" taking the steps down three at a time, relying on my absolutely inhuman dexterity to keep me from falling.
My Gamer's body was able to fully heal me of most things in an hour, but I had probably taken more than enough of a dose to die.
Spending another 36 of my now halved perk points, I bought the Plague Doctor perk I needed.
Absolute purge D. Choose a disease, status debuff, or poison you have. Exert your will on yourself or another, and reduce symptoms to low levels and lessen any consequences. Note. Long term perk, requires a lot of stamina.
The perk had massively improved with the merging, and if I ever fixed up the skill so I could actually access all three parts it would be amazing. For now I just engaged the poison aspect.
I began pouring the infinite stamina I currently had into a cure, feeling toxins within me burn away as my powerful skill focused fully on poison resistance. I could see the air go hazy with sweat as I pushed it out of me.
You will die in 50 minutes.
Good enough. Some time to change the game.
The voice spoke once more, as the fan above started to angle downwards, shards of glass skipping down the stairs towards us.
"You love poisoning people, so you'll love being poisoned. Each of those shards of glass is coated with enough poison to kill a man."
I arrived at the bottom. Adam had legged it to the door and yanking at the handle. Three thick steel pipes had locked across it, preventing it from opening despite his best efforts.
I waved at Jeff and Laura. "Quick!"
Jeff got moving to the door. Laura stood still.
"I'm not getting involved in another of your messes!" She said. "I have a new life! I'm better now!"
"I'm on it." Adam said, running to her. "You focus on getting the door open."
I ran to the door, and inspected it, tossing down my bag of judge, and ignoring his cries of pain. Lots of HP and armor, enough to slow me from just kicking it down quickly, before the poison spread. I burnt my strength perks, tearing the pipes off one by one. It was hard work, enough to make my arms and leg burn, but I could do this.
"If you truly care so much about them you can save them. The fan is tracking you. If you return to die, you can save them. Or you can leave them to die and cherish your own life. Make your choice. "
For the third one, I couldn't quite get it off, my strength perks used up. Jeff helped me, adding in his weight and strength, and together we managed to crack and break the pole off.
With the barriers torn off I called upon my door smasher perk and felt stamina pooling in my leg and shoulder. I rammed the door shoulder first, and felt my bone pop out of the joint as the door slammed to the ground. Jeff walked in after me.
"Get off me!" I heard from behind me as Adam wrestled Laura forward. She slammed her fist into his side, but he was pretty buff compared to when I had possessed him and her feeble efforts came to nothing.
Once she was through I picked up the bag of judge and wedged the door back in place. Taking some spare plastic tarp, I seared the plastic together as a makeshift barrier to keep any of the poison shards from reaching me with little bursts of fire.
"You can't bring me into this again. You can't you can't" said Laura, collapsing to her knees.
I went to her. "I didn't do this. Jigsaw did."
"He did it because of you. To get revenge on you. You incited him. I'll just stay here. I don't want to go on." She said, huddled in the corner.
I looked at her. She was doing a lot worse than Adam was.
"You were meant to die."
"I wasn't meant to die. I'm meant to live."
I shook my head. "I saw the future. Without me you'd have died. That poison would have killed you in the nerve gas house."
Adam leaned in. "How did I die?"
"Amanda gave you a happy ending by means of bag over head."
"I'm glad you wrecked her then. Erotic asphyxiation isn't how I want to go out. Thought I might have cut my foot off and bled out."
"Nah, you pussied out."
"I was pretty weak then."
I gestured at his more muscular form. "You seem to be doing well."
He grinned and flexed. "This gamer's mind thing you gave me is incredible. I don't think we realize just how much damage our mind takes over time. Every old fear, every bit of anxiety, every rude comment, you don't notice it till it's gone. I wake up fresh as a flower, and I can work all day without getting tired. I've got a new photography business, I'm swimming in eager people who want to get a bit famous, it's going great."
Laura glared at me. "You didn't give me anything like that. You just came in and took took took."
I shrugged. "You're what, an ok thief? He's actually useful in spying and stuff."
"I'm more than that. I have a life, a family."
"I gave you a way to help your sister as well. You got sent cash didn't you?" I looked at Adam.
"Load of cash, and free insulin from Xavier. He's got quite a business selling generics cheap. Big pharma is even more violent than drug lords as well the way he tells it. He's never been happier."
I pointed a finger at Laura. "So don't pretend I just fucked you over. I did my rights by you. You're alive, your sister has insulin, you have cash.
I heard a muffled voice from below. "She has PTSD you idiot."
I unzipped the judge from his hazmat bag. "Welcome to the conversation. And yeah. I guess it's just been a long day and I should be nicer. A long several days. You heard that all?"
Judge Hayden, an old kindly looking man with baldness and a few bruises crawled out of the bag.
Jeff stepped up. "You are the reason my son's killer went free."
The judge stood proud and tall. "Vengeance is never the answer. It won't bring your son back."
I put my hand up. "But it will make me feel better killing Jigsaw. Let us leave the politics out of this till later. You can do fisticuffs then."
Hayden shook his head. "This is all happening because of his need for vengeance. He needs to give it up, or we're all in danger."
I glared at him. "Fuck you. Grief doesn't have a timeline. If he wants to be sad all these years later, he has a right to it. Also, fuck you again, no politics or I'll punch you.
I held a fist up, and felt some glass grinding inside of my armor. I used my water control to ping them out. The movement burnt something inside me. I put my hand up, and coughed some blood into it.
He looked me over. "Are you… clean?"
I summoned a ball of water to my hands. "Yep, I couldn't do much near the fan, but I've handled the poison here. I personally am poisoned. Massive dose. I don't have long left to this world. I'm gonna kill Jigsaw though.
Laura rushed to my side. "You're poisoned? Like in the house?" She pushed a pill to my hand. "This is the antidote. Take it."
I looked it over, tasted it, and nodded. It was. I recognized the herb. I swallowed it.
Antidote identified. You now have two hours before you'll die.
I looked at Laura. "You do care." I smiled.
She looked down. "You did save my life. I just hate it here. I hate traps. I hate blood. I don't want to be here. I know it's his fault. I've had flashbacks every night since then. I hate it."
I took her hands in mine and looked her in the eyes.
"We'll get through this. Today is the day John Kramer, Jigsaw, dies. I've got a plan. I've got a load of buffs. We just need to push through a bit longer."
I wanted to survive as well. I need more perk points to get gamer's body level 5. With that, I could survive long enough to fix this poison.
I thumbed through my menu, going to the quest screen.
Kill John Kramer once and for all. John Kramer has worked with dark supernatural forces of terrible evil. Kill him, and destroy the artifact he possesses. 2000 perk points, and one unlocked inventory item.
Destroy the throne of Autumn. Autumn has a foothold in this world and will use it to burn this world and every other world. Destroy her throne. 1000 perk points and a stat upgrade.
That was a pretty nice reward. Almost half of my total perk hoard. That would do it.
Plus the spooky stat upgrade and inventory item upgrade. Next time I was in saw I could bring my trusty m6 spartan laser and see how well saw traps stood up to a tactical artillery laser gun.
I looked back at Jeff. "I'll get your vengeance. He-" I thumbed at the judge. "Denied you what should have been yours. I'll free your family as well." The judge looked like he wanted to speak more, but a raised fist quietened him.
I looked over Adam and Laura. "I possessed you once. It went better for some of you than others. We're in this together now. I'll make sure we rise up even more."
I felt my Mark of Maturin burning hot. On their wrists marks burned just as hot and I felt one more.
David Tapp was here. My third Saw host. We were all coming together.
The final confrontation approaches. Who will win? A person who was meant to die with no hope of escape to teach another person that murder is wrong, or the engineer of death?
Sonjubbi. Yep, Freddy seems to be leading the votes now, even with reviews. Lots of risk and reward there.
