Chapter 12: Training Pt-1
Seth sat down on the ground with his back resting upon on of the many trees dotting the Shinjuku Park. He was waiting for the Tamers and Digidestend who wanted training to show up with their partners. Takato unfortunately could not be there, as he was currently being debriefed by Yamaki at the Leagues local headquarters. This left Seth to train both the digimon and their partners today.
Seth sighed as he glanced around the area nearby. The area he sat in was a small clearing in the park situated away from the more frequented areas of the park. The clearing was surrounded by trees that gently blew in the wind. The sky was cloudless allowing the sun to shine down and will the area with a pleasant warmth that reminded Seth that spring was indeed underway. Seth honestly preferred to spend his time in nature. The natural area around him had no sounds of machinery, no people to deal with, and most importantly was that Seth found a feeling of safety surrounded by the sounds of animals around him. So when suddenly those animals became quite Seth became fully alert though he pretended to stay relaxed as his eyes casually but carefully scrutinized the area. It didn't take him long to spot the disturbance and only a couple more seconds for the individual to emerge from the tree line.
"Renamon" Seth greeted the vixen as he rose from his relaxed position and stepped toward the new arrival. Renamon gave a nod in greeting to the individual who would be training her for the foreseeable future.
"Seth. The others will be here soon." Renamon announced.
Seth nodded "Very well, and why are you here early and not with them if I may ask?" he asked with a raised brown
Renamon fidgeted and locked her gaze to the ground "I-I just wanted to again thank you for helping me with trying to get Takato's attention." Renamon stated with a thankful tone.
Seth nodded and gave a small relaxed smile which shocked the vixen "Hey, don't worry about it. I can see that this is important to you and know that you and Takato complement each other. You both prefer to spend you off time quietly relaxing with pleasant company, however you both know when it's time to be serious and carry yourselves with a professionalism." Seth complemented much to Renamon's embarrassment and inner happiness at being judged as compatible with her crush.
"Thank you for the complement… oh the others are here." Renamon stated as her ears swiveled to the sounds of people approaching from the tree line.
As the two watched they saw the form of Shade emerge from the tree line followed by the chatting forms of Gatomon, V-mon, Agumon, Biyomon, Kari, Rika, Tai, Davis, Sora, and Izzy. As the group meet up with them they quitted down as Seth stepped toward them.
"Thank you for guiding them here Shade." Seth nodded toward his partner who gave a nod in reply.
Focusing on the group as a whole Seth examined them for a couple seconds before giving a nod to himself as if reaching a conclusion. "Alright, you all here because you want to get stronger, this I know. However I want to hear your reasons for wanting to be stronger. I want you to answer here for all of us to hear. I want to be sure of your reasoning before we progress any further." Seth announced before calling out the first person to speaks name "Rika you first."
Rika was a little put off at being called out so quickly but shrugged it off and answered honestly. "I have always wanted to be the best and for a while I thought I was. However recently I found out that there where people out there stronger than me and that the world I thought I knew was so different from what my own perceptions thought it was. I learned that the world around me was in a crisis while I was living in a deluded fantasy and comfort. How could I call myself the best when there are people out their fighting while I sit on my ass here playing games? So I want to get stronger, not only so I can help in the fighting ahead but so I can be that person that people look up to as a person of strength. Someone who was the ideal of someone to become, not the 'digimon queen' whose really good at digimon cards but as Rika Nonaka the Tamer." Rika stated with strength in her voice. Her passionate answer had surprised many present but also filled them with confidence, a fact that did not escape Seth's gaze.
"Rika… you're going to be quite the leader when you get older. You're closer to your goal than you realize." Seth thought before he turned toward the leader of the first generation of digidestend. "Tai, Agumon your turn."
Tai swallowed nervously under Seth's intense stare having had little to no exposure to it but squared his shoulders and pushed forward regardless. "I was once the leader of the Digi destined and although I have passed that title down to Davis I still feel responsible for the well-being of all digidestend and tamer around the planet. A few days ago I was content to be a mentor to the younger generation but then I learned of the hardships they faced, the news that many had died, the reality that many more would follow with the way things are now. It hurt to hear that many where killed because they didn't have the experience or the support we have enjoyed here in Japan. I want to change that I want to get stronger so I can travel the World and help kids get that experience I want to be their mentor to be their support when they need it. If I can save a few of them then any hardship I have to overcome will be worth it." Tai answered.
"Same here I'm not gonna let Tai do this alone or let any bad Digimon get away with hurting any of our friends and allies!" Agumon stated backing up his partner.
Seth nodded rather liking Tai's reasons and planning what he could do to help facilitate his dream. "Kari and Gatomon your up."
Kari stepped forward and after a moment's thought gave a small smile before replying "I don't have any big goals like my brother or Rika. I just want to help protect as many people as I can. If that means getting stronger to be their guardian angel so be it." Kari answered.
Gatomon nodded "Yep, besides there is someone we care about that is already doing the whole protect everyone thing. If we do this we can stay by his side and help." Gatomon replied.
"Wanting to protect others isn't a bad goal or motivation. Just be aware that you can't protect everyone at the same time." Seth instructed to which the pair acknowledged before he moved on to the next pair. "Sora and Biyomon."
Sora stepped forward "My reasoning is the same as both Ty and Kari. I'm one of the original Digi destined it's my responsibility to help out the new digidestend and tamers. Plus I also wish to keep them from harm as much as I can as well. To do that I have to be stronger plus I can't let Tai do all the work or he would work himself to death." Sora answered while giving Tai a nudge with her elbow, making the original goggle head chuckle.
"Well don't they act and look like a couple. About time too from what Davis has told me." Seth thought.
"I'm with Sora like always." Biyomon stated before she captured Agumon in a hug. "Besides I can't leave my new mate to save the world all by himself now can I." Biyomon stated making Agumon blush in happiness and embarrassment.
"You two are finally together!" Gatomon exclaimed in happiness "Congratulations!" she exclaimed as she caught Biyomon in a hug quickly followed by the others.
Seth waited for all of them to settle down before he called out the next person. "Izzy your up."
"Well I have always been trying to help other digidestend and tamers as much as I could with my computer skills. If I want to get better I need to learn how League digimon and tamers operate in the field as well as the systems the League utilizes." Izzy relayed.
Seth nodded "From what I heard you have extensive skills and experience is supporting the digidestend with only a lab top. I can definitely see your skills making a difference if you are given the proper resources." Seth complemented the brains of the Digidestend before focusing on the last pair. "Davis and V-mon, you're up."
Davis nodded before stepping forward and addressing Seth at parade rest surprising everyone who was used to his goofball personality. "As some here already know I have been a part of the League's DART branch for some time. I decided to help the league but I wanted to stay in Japan so I could be with my friends longer and provide information on developments amongst the digidestend. However with events playing out as they are around the globe I feel it's time for me to commit myself fully to helping stop this threat and officially join the league. By joining the League I would be standing as a symbol to all the other digidestend and tamers out there as a proud member of the League and as the leader of all Digi destined." Davis answered with conviction.
"I'm with Davis. We need to get back in shape because it's about time we got serious and help the League beat those evil digimon." V-mon announced being the more gung-ho of the two.
Seth nodded pleased with Davis's answer, seeing the strong sense of duty and commitment that had attracted the leagues attention to the young man. "Very well than it's about time I introduce to you all some new allies. You can come out now you six." Seth stated as he turned to the tree line and saw six figures emerge and greet the group.
The lead figure was a male human standing at about 5'6 with blond hair and grey eyes behind a pair of glasses. He appeared to be in his late teens with a lanky build but hansom look despite his rather simple attire of a white T-shirt and grey pants. He approached the group before giving a slight bow and addressing them. "Morning all. My name is Thomas Vassilis a member of the League's R&D branch. I enjoy inventing new weapon designs and metal working. I dislike fighting myself and hope that one day my inventions will pave the way for peace. Seth here asked me to help you understand League operations and policies as well as tactics on and off the battlefield. I hope we can all get along well."
Once Thomas was done the next figure stepped forward. This one was a digimon a Nefertimon to be exact which surprised and intrigued Gatomon. "Greetings" The Nefertimon began in a feminine voice revealing it to be female. "I am Mia a Nefartimon and digimon employed by the League. I have only been a member for a few months but am quite skilled in support type combat. I tend to be more defensive of a fighter while helping my allies from mid-range. I enjoy long catnaps and relaxing flights through the clouds. I dislike people who abuse digimon and people who threaten my special someone. My dream is to stay by my chosen ward and protect him. I am here to finish my training to become a full time member of the Leagues FANG unit and convince my chosen ward to accept me as his partner. I hope we can all become good friends!" Mia announced with a pleasant smile though Gatomon promised herself to ask about this whole chosen ward thing Mia was talking about.
The third figure stepped forward and revealed itself to be a Flamedramon though with a few cosmetic changes including armor around its waist and a pair of D-cup breasts covered by its breastplate explaining the need for the new piece of armor. "Hi everyone!" She began enthusiastically "I'm Ruby a Flamedramon that like Mia, am finishing my training to become a member of the League's FANG unit. I have been training since I was a little V-mon with marginal improvement until Seth took me in and trained me. When I heard he was here in Japan and preparing to teach again I jumped on the chance to finish my training under him. My dream is to be a famous FANG operator and one day start a family!" Ruby exclaimed dreamily while casting a subtle glance at Seth when she mentioned starting a family.
Next was what appeared to be a female human wearing a red witch get-up, she had a black cape and black leather belts around her waist. She had blond hair and blue silted eyes with black steaks crossing over her brows and traveling down to her cheeks. Her eyes appeared nervous as they darted around the people in front of her. However she seemed to be put at ease as a black floating cat with blue eyes appeared draped around her shoulder. Gathering her courage the girl standing at 5'8 stepped forward and for some reason Gatomon and Kari felt that she was familiar but shook it off as she began her introduction. "H-hello" The girl began nervously "M-my name is Nina a-and I'm a Witchmon. I am new to the League, having joined only a few days ago. I had an accident recently and can't remember much about my past but the League has been very kind to me and is looking out for me. I am training to become a full time League member and earn enough money to buy a house in the new digimon settlement of Haven." Nina introduced herself as the group gave her encouraging smiles.
The next digimon was a surprise to everyone as it looked like a female version of Leomon with the exception that her pants where more form fitting with the left paint leg cut off around her upper thigh. She also wore a black training bra that had added yellow material that ran up to her neck. She also did not have the large blade her male version had instead having a pair of trench knifes sheathed at her sides. She stood confidently before them and gave a slight bow "A pleasure to meet you all. You may call me Elisa. As you can likely tell I am a Leowomon and have been a member of the League since its founding. I have been brought here to help train you in various combat styles at the request of Seth." Elisa introduced herself.
"So you two know each other?" Ty asked as he glanced between Seth and Elisa.
Elisa nodded "Yes Seth and I have been allies since the founding years of the League. As for my likes I enjoy training and teaching. I dislike those that think they cannot learn from others as well as those that pick on people weaker than them. My dream is to one day settle down and become an official instructor, maybe open a gym for people willing to learn." Elisa finished her introduction and allowed the final member of the group to approach.
The final member of the group was a purple furred mammal digimon that looked like a cross between a dinosaur and a fox. It had white fur at the tip of its tail as well as on its nose, feet, underbelly, and arms. It had two small bat like wings on its back and a red gem imbedded on its forehead. "Good evening" the small digimon spoke up in a feminine voice that seemed cautious of them "My name is Sara and I am a digimon known as a Dorumon. I have been a part of the league for a month now and came here both to train and convince Seth to allow me to be his partner." Sara stated while glancing over to Seth.
"Why do you want to be his partner?" Sora asked the digimon.
"Before I joined the league I was partnered to a Tamer that… didn't really appreciate me being around. He only saw me as another mouth to feed and constantly forced me to go out and do manual labor in order to keep living with them and also refused to give me any food. Eventually I collapsed and he started to beat me and yell for me to get up and keep working. It was at this point that Seth appeared and knocked him out while crushing my tamer's digivice before I blacked out." Sara explained.
It was at this point that Seth filled them in on the rest of the story "A concerned neighbor had called the League reporting that a Tamer was abusing their digimon. I was the closest support and was sent to investigate. I arrived to the Tamer beating Sara while she laid their exhausted with obvious signs of sever fatigue and malnourishment. So I intervened by knocking out the Tamer crushing his digivice before calling in a medical team as well as informing the closest DART branch to arrest the Tamer." Seth explained in a bored tone before checking his watch before nodding.
"Okay with introductions out of the way follow me to the training area." Seth explained as he moved toward a dirt path leading further into the park.
"Wait where not training here?" Rika asked as the group moved to follow.
"And risk you throwing around digital attacks into a populated area like its free candy? No thanks. The League has a specialized facility for members in the area we use to train and not cause a panic." Seth explained with a chuckle before turning around and giving them a hard stare "Just remember though, you asked for this. So don't blame me when the pain comes." And with those last words of encouragement the group followed the human into the park not knowing what suffering and pain they would soon experience.
Aaaannnndddd Chapter! So some of you may be a little made that Takato wasn't in this chapter but don't worry he will get some time in the next one. This chapter was to introduce some new characters from the League so expect them to be a little high on the skill scale.
