Janet. JANET. EMERGANCY!
The Good Place, 8765 Bearimys later
My and Rosie were playing on the floor with Harry, when this horrendous alarm started going off in my ears. Rosie says she can't hear it but Harry's squealing on the floor rather more like a pig than a dog. Paradise my ash.
"JANET!" I cry out, Rosie now covers her ears as I try and pick myself up off the floor. In she pops with little to no warning other my great careening. "Janet what's all the noise?!" I shout at her, she doesn't even flinch, must just turn down her decibel receivers or some such device she must use to turn down her hearing. If that's even possible. Either way I'm off topic - Janet looks blankly at me and my covered ears and Harry's barking and still doesn't come up anything useful.
"I do not understand, do you want me to play a selection of your favourite noises - we have a pop album you enjoyed as a child?" She chides, her face lighting into a confused smile as she attempts to be helpful. Aw Janet, how you try. You can't blame her really.
"Actually-" I start, but Rosie shoots me a look of death and I quickly get back on track. "No Janet, there's a really loud noise in here and we don't know why, is something malfunctioning? Did something go wrong? Are we dying?" I rant out in a panic, Rosie walking closer to me and taking my hand as I try to relax myself.
"I don't seem to be experiencing malfunctions, do you want me to run a troubleshoot of the whole neighbourhood?" She asks, always with the questions, why wasn't Janet built with some sort of initiative setting, I might mention that to Eleanor the next time I run into her.
"Yes do that, right now!" I say, thinking that never-ending noise would never leave. Then Janet disappears, presumably troubleshooting around the neighbourhood. Rosie is leant against me and we await her reappearance. *Pop* and here she is.
"Janet? What is it?" Rosie says, her voice trembling as she looks at Janet's now haggard form. Her hair is all in disarray and her clothes are a little torn. She shaking slightly, I mean I've never seen a robot shake before so it this new. Next, she blows some fragments of her, 'uniform' shall we say, out of her mouth.
"There appears to be fireworks located nearby," I shoot a questioning look at her and she confirmed that fireworks were, as it happens, banned in the Good Place because 'accidents' in the past. And here I was thinking that we would be invulnerable in the afterlife. And that the noise was an alarm for some such accidents. The only she couldn't tell me was where the fireworks had come from, so I suppose that is a mystery for another time perhaps?
