Ch 7
A/N: Hello all it's certainly been a while. Worry not though the story continues on. I had planned to write a good bit of this over break when I had time away from school but unfortunately I came down with a bad case of pneumonia so I was pretty much unable to do anything. I'm better now so here's the story. I will finish this worry not. It's just about finding time to do so as my schedule can get crazy around the holidays as I'm sure you all know as well from personal experience. Anyway, on with the show, here's chapter 7. Thank you all for your continued feedback and I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year's.
As light began to filter into the room through the curtained windows, Jaune blearly opened his eyes and was faced with the sight of his wife's head laying on his chest. It still felt weird to think that though he assumed it would take a little bit more time to fully grasp getting married so soon. Or the fact that he married a rich widow who controlled most of the dust supply on Remnant, which kind of made him one of the most influential people on Remnant by default? Wait, does this mean I'm now the youngest millionaire on Remnant?
Shaking his head, Jaune decided to push those thoughts out of his head and enjoy a few more minutes of rest as he gently placed a hand on top of Willow's head which in turn caused the sleeping woman to wrap her arms around him and pull him closer. Seeing this Jaune let out a small chuckle before leaning his head back more into the pillow and closing his eyes, content to just lay there.
And he would've if not for those meddling kids and their dog- wait no team RWBY was back at Beacon. Blinking his eyes a few times he saw instead it was a different white haired teen and a dog. A second later and a quick flash and a *click* indicated that Whitley had taken a picture of them.
"Was that really necessary?" Jaune asked as he looked towards the teen.
Whitley just smirked in reply and began making his way down the hall.
Jaune just looked back up towards the ceiling and sighed before looking back down towards Willow to see her now staring back up at him.
"Well good morning Willow. Have a good sleep?" Jaune asked
"Indeed, it was one of the better ones I had in awhile, much like I had suspected it would be. I just wish I could've laid here a bit longer but it seems like we have to go deal with a rather rambunctious son who decided a picture of us in bed together might help him keep a dog he "found."
"So what are we gonna do about it?"
"We? Will someone be taking the stern father role of saying no or will he leave it to his poor wife?"
"Uh well I, er maybe you should tell him. After all, I'm still pretty new around here."
"Right, I'm sure that's the reason." Willow said with a playful role of her eyes. "All right, time to get up." Willow said as she sat up and stretched her arms.
As she did this though it gave Jaune a good look of what she had worn to bed that he didn't see last night. Willow had on a black negligee that contrasted her pale skin and white hair.
With a heavy blush Jaune turned aside and began ready for the day. After a quick shower and putting on some clean clothes he made his way downstairs to find everyone seated at the dining table eating breakfast.
After saying a quick thank you to one of the cooks he saw bustling about Jaune made his way over and sat down at the table.
"Good morning everyone."
"Good morning sweetie." and "Good morning son." Came the reply from his mother and father. With a silent nod coming from Winter who currently had food in her mouth and didn't want to show bad table manners.
After a few more minutes Willow came down and joined them at the table, taking a seat next to Jaune before saying good morning to everyone as well.
Shortly after Willow's arrival Whitley came wandering in followed by a small grey corgi. Puzzled by the new addition Nicholas and Juniper looked over to Jaune and Willow only to see Jaune shrug his shoulders and Willow give a defeated sigh.
Seeing the sight both gave a small laugh before returning to their food.
Winter however decided she would comment on the new furry arrival. "So what's up with the dog?"
"Indeed, tell us Whitley. What is the deal with the dog?" Willow said, giving a very pointed look towards her son.
"Well I was out in the garden and found him so now he's here." Whitley said very nonchalantly with a shrug of his shoulders.
"Really? A small dog somehow managed to make its way onto the gated property all the way to the gardens where you just happened to "find" him." Came Willow's reply.
"Yup." Whitley said, popping the p sound and reminding Jaune of Ruby.
"So I'm sure if we were to call the animal shelter or something they wouldn't have any records of a certain white haired boy adopting a dog this morning?" Jaune said as he decided to try to give Willow some help.
Honestly though he found the whole situation amusing as it reminded him of the time a cat "followed" one of his little sisters home. Amber didn't give up the cat then and it looks like Whitley wasn't going to give up his dog now.
"Well er, maybe. There's probably a lot of white haired teens though." Whitely said trying to come up with an argument/excuse.
"You realize I've never seen anyone with white hair like that of this family before joining this family right? I mean the first time I did was when I saw Weiss at Beacon." Jaune said as he all but smashed Whitley's excuse.
"Ok fine. I went out and saw the shelter and saw someone giving him up and decided I could give him a home so he wouldn't spend time in the shelter." Whitley said as he shrunk back into his seat.
"Does he at least have a name so we can stop referring to him as he?" Jaune asked as he glanced at the corgi.
"Yes, his name is Winston. It all seemed perfect as his name started with a W so he fits the W.S. naming scheme."
"Technically it's W. A-S. now son." Willow replied.
"So we can keep him then?" Whitley asked after hearing his mom reply.
"I never said that." Willow said as Jaune burst out laughing next to her at how hard Whitley was trying.
"It's like they're a family already." Juniper said as she took Nicholas' hand.
"Reminds you of home doesn't it?" Nicholas replied to his wife.
"Yes, yes it does." Juniper said with a smile as she watched the situation unfold.
"Winter, help me out here." Willow said as she cast a glare at Jaune.
"Winter?" Willow repeated as she looked around trying to find her daughter.
"Who's a good boy? You are, yes you are." Winter said as she sat on the floor petting the corgi.
"Dammit." Willow muttered under her breath as Jaune started laughing harder. "Fine the dog can stay but you WILL be responsible for it. That means food, water, and giving him proper exercise every day."
"Hooray!" Whitley cheered as he went around the table and gave Willow a hug.
While Jaune placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a warm smile, one she couldn't help but return before giving a playful chide of "Don't you have some training to do dear?"
"Yeah, I'll go grab my gear." Jaune said as he got up from the table.
"Oh no, not a beat down in training. I mean educational stuff about dust, supply lines, and international laws. I'm sure that will be a lot more fun." Willow said with a wicked grin knowing this cram session would basically be her payback for not helping with the dog issue.
"Aw man. I was hoping I could keep pushing that off." Jaune mumbled.
"Nope. Now I'll give you a bunch of stuff and Klein can help you with it should you get stuck. He's a rather smart one after all. I meanwhile have to go tell our shareholders and the rest of the world about Jacques' death and the fact I'll finally be taking over like some shareholders had pushed me to do previously." Willow said as she rose from her chair to go prepare the materials necessary for Jaune and herself.
"I'll put the things in your study Jaune." Willow said as she walked out of the dining room.
"My study?"
"She probably means the study that belonged to Jacques. Which means it's now yours." Winter said as she put down Winston, much to the dog's displeasure as he gave a small whine.
"Come on boy, let's go play." Whitley said as he too left the dining room with Winston following behind after giving a happy bark.
"Well dear do you want to go explore Atlas some? The kids will probably be expecting some souvenirs because they couldn't come." Juniper said to her husband.
"That sounds like a wonderful idea dear." Nicholas said as they both stood and made their way to go shopping.
Meanwhile as Jaune was walking down the hall he reached the room that would now be his study. Taking a deep breath he opened the door before seeing a desk piled high with papers and books.
"Oh dear." Jaune said to no one in particular, before letting out a sigh as he made his way to the desk.
On it were various books about supply chain logistics and the intricacies of dust. Along with a book about international shipping, and various other laws. Besides the pile of books he saw reports on the SDC. Ranging from financial statements, accounting expenditures, and shareholder information from the meetings.
"There's probably going to be more to go over after Willow announces all the news." Jaune said and was startled to hear someone answer him.
"Right you are boy. There is going to be plenty to keep you occupied for the few days you're here. I'll also see about assigning you some homework for when you're back at Beacon." Klein said as he entered the study before taking a seat in one of the chairs by the bookcases.
Something Jaune didn't notice when he first entered as he was too focused on the pile of stuff on the desk.
"All right Klein. How should I get started?" Jaune asked, dreading the portly man's answer.
"Well let's start you off with some basic stuff from each. We'll spend an hour or two on each subject. Those being the logistics, dust, and international laws. All in all consider this a school day as we'll spend about six or seven hours going over stuff. Of course we'll also take a quick break for lunch when you get hungry or you can eat while you read. The choice is yours."
"I don't suppose a nap after lunch is possible is it?" A hopeful Jaune asked.
"I'm afraid not, master Arc-Schnee." Klein said as he pulled a book from the shelf and started reading.
"Remember if you get stuck ask me for help. Now go ahead and start on the logistics book. There should be a guide towards the front of the book that helps break down a path forward." Klein said as he peered over his book to make sure Jaune found the correct book and went to the correct section.
SDC Headquarters
Willow had made her way to the SDC headquarters and was heading to her office. As she approached her office she passed her secretary. A rather young woman about mid twenties or so with dirty blonde hair. She was wearing a red blouse and a black skirt, along with a pair of red heels.
"Sandy, is everything ready for my press conference?" Willow said as she approached the desk outside her office.
"Yes Mrs. Schnee. Everything has been prepared and the reporters are waiting in the conference room downstairs."
"Excellent. Thank you for your hard work, I know this isn't the easiest job especially with you being just recently hired but I'm pleased to see you doing quite well."
"Thank you Mrs. Schnee. It's a pleasure to work here, I'm glad my talents could be of some use. Also the scheduled call with some of the board members has been set up as well so all you have to do is simply sit down in your office and turn the camera on after the press announcement."
"Wonderful. Well time to go see those news hounds. I swear they never stop hungering for the latest scoop." Willow said with a sigh.
"Well it is their job after all." Sandy replied in a sarcastic playful tone.
"You say that but wait until you're famous one day then you'll understand my pain." Willow said with a small laugh.
"I'd rather stay a secretary than deal with those people." Sandy said as she went back to working on something on her computer.
After going down the elevator Willow stepped out the stage and walked to the podium filled with several microphones from the various news networks.
Beacon Academy
"Look Weiss, your mom is on tv." Ruby said as she pointed to one of the tvs in the cafeteria that had a chyron reading "SDC set to make major announcement"
"I'm sure it's simply going to be mother saying my father has passed and she'll go on about some speech about him being a great man or some such sort." Weiss replied as she ate her lunch totally uninterested in the news report or press conference.
"You should probably still care. It's your family's business after all. The very one you talk about changing for the better someday after graduation." Yang said as she took a bite of her sandwich.
"I guess you're right. As much as it pains me to admit it."
"Oh come on Ice Queen. I can be right a good deal of the time." Yang said as refocused her attention on the tv.
"Shush, it's starting." Ruby said as she preemptively shut off a retort from Weiss about being called Ice Queen.
"Ladies and Gentlemen thank you all for being here today." Willow said as she began her little speech.
"The reason I've called you all here today has to do with what some of you have noticed as the absence of my former husband. I say former because I would like to announce that Jacques Schnee has officially passed." Willow said as a few of the reporters in the audience gasped.
Willow let the shock settle before continuing. "He died after collapsing from a stroke in his office. Now my father always told me if I don't have anything nice to say to say nothing at all. So I will say nothing about my husband and move on to things that matter." Willow stated getting more audible gasps from the audience.
After letting the gasps settle down again she resumed her speech. "Now as the largest majority shareholder as well as bearer of the company's name itself I will be taking over as CEO of the SDC temporarily until the board can ultimately vote me in permanently. Which should happen immediately following this press conference. We will update you all once the vote has become official. Now, any questions?" Willow asked as she finished her speech.
Several hands were raised in the audience and she looked them over before pointing to a fair skin mustached man with black hair towards the back.
"Yes you in the back with the mustache and black hair." Willow said.
"Hello Mrs. Schnee, my name is Cobe Slater with Atlas News Network. My question is who will be the one assuming Jacques' shares now that he has passed?"
"That would be me for the time being. Until both my daughter Weiss and my son Whitley are old enough I will hold their shares that Jacques left for them until they are of age. The other shares have been set aside for me and they will remain in my custody until I decide to pass them to someone else or oum forbid something happen to me. Next question?"
Once again several hands shot up and Willow looked around before choosing a woman with shoulder length hair in a blue pantsuit towards the front.
"Hello Mrs. Schnee, my name is Catalina Sangria and I'm with one of the smaller news outlets that operate in Menagerie. Thank you for taking my question. My question is now with the departure of Jacques Schnee, a man known for his hard policies towards faunus laborers, how does the board and yourself plan to move forward with any reforms if at all?"
"Good question. We will discuss that at a later date, but do know that change will come and it will be for the better." Willow replied with a smile and a nod of her head.
"Alright we have time for one last question before I need to go meet with the board of directors. You with the purple hair in the dark purple pantsuit towards the front." Willow said as she pointed at the woman in question.
"Hello Mrs. Schnee, my name is Lisa Lavender with the Vale News Network. My question is less business related and more of a personal matter. What do you have to say towards anyone eyeing you and thinking of themselves as a potential suitor?" Lisa said as she stared at Willow at the podium.
"What I would say is to get any ridiculous thoughts like that out of their heads. I already have someone in mind who's quite capable of handling everything I could ever want them too, thank you." Willow said with a smirk.
Back at Beacon all heads at the table teams RWBY and (J)NPR were turned to Weiss in shock. Weiss however, was just as dumbfounded as they were as she stared at the screen completely shocked with her mother's announcement.
Back at the press conference this answer gave Lisa a chance to press further as she was vying to get a great possibly scandalous story.
"That wouldn't have anything to do with the recent rumors of a young blonde male staying at the Schnee manor would it?" Lisa said with a wicked grin on her face as she hoped for a scandal.
"I'm not sure what rumors you are talking about Miss Lavender, but that would probably be the huntsman bodyguard who was assigned for me following a recent White Fang attempt on my life. Sorry to burst your bubble." Willow replied with a smirk of her own before she began walking off the stage.
"Does that mean there's a case of hero love? Love at first save for the person who gallantly rescued you?" Lisa shouted as Willow walked off the stage ignoring her completely.
Back at Beacon the teenagers who sat around the table started discussing what they just heard.
"Weiss, did you know your mother was attacked by the White Fang recently?" Ruby asked as she stared at her partner.
"No I didn't, but that would explain a few things. It also makes sense for those animals to go after my mother now that father is dead."
"Don't call them animals!" Blake said as she glared at her teammate.
"I'm sorry is violent terrorist better? What would you prefer me to call the extremists who tried to murder my mother?" Weiss snipped back
"Well you didn't seem too concerned about her well being when you were screaming at her when she came to visit." Blake shot back.
Hearing Blake's words Weiss began to shrink in on herself a little as she remembered her recent actions towards her mother when she came to inform her of her father's death.
"Wait, who do you guys think got assigned to guard Willow? They mentioned a blonde huntsman? *Gasp* You don't think it's our dad do you?" Ruby said as she wondered who was guarding the Schnee matriarch.
"Nah sis it can't be dad. He's busy teaching at Signal. Besides Lisa said it was a younger person so it definitely can't be dad." Yang replied as she took another sip of her drink.
"Ooh ooh what if it's Jaune-Jaune and after saving her she's falling in love with him and they get married and have plenty of kids." Nora said as gave another of her crazy ideas.
"Nora, Jaune is still a huntsman in training so I doubt he would be assigned to protect Mrs. Schnee. Besides, Headmaster Ozpin said Jaune was taking a week or so off for a family situation." Ren replied as he tried to calm his energetic partner.
"But what if Jaune is part of the Schnee family now Renny?" Nora replied.
"Pfft can you imagine. Weiss having to call Jaune daddy." Yang said as she burst out laughing.
After promptly doing a small spit take and plastering Yang's face with orange soda, something Weiss would say was karma later on, she regained her composure before giving her own retort. "I would never call that blond dork daddy. Even if he were somehow able to wiggle his way into my family."
"I would." Came a very quiet mumble from the redhead at the table that only Yang and Nora seemed to pick up. It wasn't until Yang was about to make a joke about it that she realized it also came from besider her too. As she looked over towards her little sister too stunned to say anything else.
"WAIT A MINUTE!" Weiss all but shouted as she remembered an event from earlier on in the week.
"And what is it that made you shout Ice Queen?" Blake said using the hated nickname for Weiss as she rubbed her ears. The shout had been a little too close for the volume level.
"When Jaune was talking to his team, I could have sworn I heard my little brother in the background tell him something. If that was him then Jaune might actually be, ugh, with my family." Weiss said as her face went into her hands.
"Don't be silly I'm sure you misheard Weiss. Here we'll solve this now." Yang responded after finally coming out of her shock as she pulled out her scroll and dialed Jaune.
"Yang, do you really have Jaune saved in your contacts as "Vomit Boy?" Ruby said as the scroll began ringing.
"What? That's what I call him." She replied with a shrug as she looked around at the glances from her friends around the table. After a few more seconds the ringing stopped and Jaune's voice came through the other end.
"Hello?"
"Hey Vomit Boy! How ya doing?"
"Yang? Uh, not to be rude but why are you calling me? You like never call me. Did something happen to Ruby?" Jaune said concern showing in her voice.
"No no she's still her fine cookie and weapon obsessed self." Yang responded earning an indignent "Hey!" from the reaper in question.
"Well that's good to hear but uh why are you calling?" Jaune asked confused as to why the blond brawler would randomly call him out of the blue.
"Well you see we were watching the press announcement from Weiss' mom Willow who's now head of the SDC. One of the things that got mentioned was a supposed rumor about a blond huntsman protecting/body guarding her which she confirmed." Yang said, listening closely to hear his reaction as all the fellow teens around the table leaned in as well.
"She did? Well that's uh the first I'm hearing about it. Good for her though for uh getting a guard with her husband passing she probably needs it." Jaune said, sounding far more distracted than Yang thought he should.
"Whatcha doing there VB? You sound very distracted, some might say nervous." Yang inquired as she kept pushing the blond knight.
"Well I am distracted Yang. I'm studying after all. Something I'm sure you are VERY familiar with." Jaune replied with a heavy sarcasm.
Letting out an audible gasp Yang continued with a mock hurt tone of voice. "Jaune are you saying I don't study? I'm hurt."
"Well he's got a point sis. You've never been the most studious." Ruby said earning a "Shut up Ruby." from Yang.
"Hey Ruby." Came Jaune's voice through the scroll.
"Hi Jaune." Ruby replied.
"Hey listen guys I gotta go. I'm about to move on to studying dust so I need to focus. I'll talk to you guys later." Jaune said before hanging up on the call.
"Did anyone notice the fact that Jaune mentioned Weiss' mom husband dying but I never mentioned that." Yang said as she looked around at everyone's reactions.
"That's true, you didn't mention father's passing, only that mother got a guard." Weiss as she replayed the conversation in her head over and over again.
"He also mentioned studying dust or starting too. Maybe the dork is trying to be more studious." Weiss said as she added a follow up point.
"Well maybe he's trying to make up for missing class." Pyrrha said as she tried to shed some good light on her leader and well known crush.
"Ozpin did say Jaune was away for a family situation though, so why would he be studying during a family situation that was urgent enough for him to leave school?" Ren said, deciding to add his own input into the conversation.
"It definitely is strange." Blake said as she considered everything she had heard her friends discuss.
Suddenly another ringing was heard of a scroll call and everyone looked to see Ruby with her scroll next to her head. Followed by a "Hello sweetie. What is it? I'm about to start teaching teaching class at the moment. If it's not important, can I call you back after school is out?"
"Sure dad. I just wanted to check in and see how things were going. Talk to you later." Ruby said before telling Taiyang goodbye and hanging up the scroll.
"See Yang he's still at Signal. I told you he was." Ruby said cheekily.
"You said he might not be there, Ruby. I said he was still there." Yang replied back.
"No no, you definitely said it and therefore you were wrong and I was right like always." Ruby said with a grin before she stuck out her tongue playfully.
"You little." Yang said as she playfully pulled her sister into a headlock and began to give her a noogie.
Schnee Manor
Jacques' Jaune's Study
Jaune was desperately writing notes a mile a minute much like he would try to in Professor Oobleck's class as Klein explained some of the more advanced intricacies of dust, and their application/usage.
As he thought this back at Beacon a certain green haired doctor sneezed.
"Bless you Bartholomew." Glynda said as she looked at her caffeine addicted colleague.
"Thank you Glynda, but something is not right. I sense a disturbance, I sense someone calling me "Professor.""
"Bart you got to calm down with that." Glynda said as she groaned into her cup of tea.
"I worked very hard for that title thank you very much but very well. It was faint anyway so I doubt they are nearby." Oobleck replied as he stared out the window of the teacher's lounge.
Back with Jaune the teen had undergone several hours of studying and note taking and Klein was finally giving him a break and calling in lunch for the two of them.
After a few minutes the knight and butler heard the door open and looked up to see the cooks wheeling in a small silver cart with several plates on it. After lifting the lids on each plate they saw food items ranging from sandwiches to soups.
After grabbing a plate and bowl of each item Jaune sat back down at his desk and began studying the dust book he was looking at once again. Alternating between bites of sandwich and soup and flipping pages in the book.
After another half hour or so both Jaune and Klein had finished eating their meals so Klein had him switch to international laws about trade. Not before he surprised Jaune with a little test regarding the earlier subjects of dust and trade logistics.
"A test really? Why am I getting a test? When did you even find the time to make this? You've been reading books." Jaune questioned trying to figure out when the man found time.
Klein just gave a slight smile and went back to reading his book while Jaune just sighed before starting his impromptu test.
After a few dozen minutes Jaune looked up from his test towards Klein and said he had finished the whole thing.
Getting up from his chair, Klein made his way over to the desk before grabbing the test and beginning to look it over before letting a few pleased hums when he saw Jaune had gotten the questions right.
"So I passed?" Jaune said looking up from his international trade laws book.
"Yes dear boy. You did a fine job, even beating Weiss' score when she took the test."
"Really?" Jaune questioned.
"Yes really. Albeit she was a little younger than you when she took it but she was just as studious as she is now. So congratulations on that." Klein said with a smile before returning to his chair and grabbing a book once again.
"There's gonna be another test on the trade stuff isn't there?" Jaune said with a defeated sigh.
"Indeed, so pay attention when you read." Klein answered before returning his gaze to his book.
"Alright." Jaune said with another sigh as he went back before looking up again. "So uh about that nap?"
"Read Jaune." Klein said not even looking up from his book this time.
"Well, it was worth a try." Jaune said as he flipped another page in the book.
An hour and a half passed before Jaune closed the book with a satisfying *thunk* before his satisfaction was quickly taken away as Klein stood and handed him another test.
Not even bothering to sigh this time Jaune just grabbed a pen and started working. One excruciating pain staking hour later Jaune had finally finished and let his head fall down on the desk before just letting it lay there.
After closing his book Klein stood and made his way over to the desk and grabbed the test Jaune had finished.
Letting a hum or two he read over all the answers both the multiple choice and short answer as this test had both due to the topics it covered and how some couldn't easily be answered by multiple choice or yes no.
With a grin Klein made his way to the study door before opening it and leaving.
"Wait. How'd I do?" Jaune asked as the man left, but Klein was already gone.
Meanwhile during the later portion of the studying Willow had met and gotten confirmed to the position of CEO and had made her way back to the manor as Klein began walking around.
"Ah Klein, I see you're out and about. Does this mean you and Jaune have finished your session for the day?" Willow asked as she saw him in the hall.
"Yes it does. I must say I'm rather proud of myself. He did rather well. He even beat Weiss' scores from when she took these tests a few years back." Klein said with a grin.
"Well maybe you missed your calling as a teacher then if your students do so well." Willow said knowing the man wasn't interested in a teaching career.
"Well it's only two students but I'm rather glad I could be of assistance." Klein said as he handed the test to Willow before continuing down the hall towards his own quarters.
"Interesting, this just might work out yet." Willow said as she looked over the test a smile growing on her face. Before she looked towards the end of the hall Klein had come from.
"Well I guess I should go check on him. Assuming he's still in his study." Willow thought as she began making her way down the hall towards the study.
After arriving at the door she knocked twice on it before hearing a groan of "Come in."
After opening the door Willow was greeted by the sight of Jaune with his head still firmly planted on the desk, looking oh so pitiful.
Holding back a small laugh, Willow walked over to the desk before she started rubbing Jaune's back. "I saw your tests, you did a good job. Congratulations."
"Thanks Willow, I'm exhausted though." Jaune said not even raising his head from the desk.
"Come on, let's get you to bed so you can take a quick nap before dinner." Willow said, grabbing Jaune's arm and pulling him from the chair.
After leading him out of the study the duo made their way to the room Jaune was sleeping in. Willow opened the door and Jaune made his way to the bed before he just fell forward onto it not even bothering to change clothes or even get under the covers.
Willow let out a laugh before grabbing a blanket from the closet and laying it over the now sleeping blond knight and planting a kiss on his forehead.
"Good night Jaune." Willow said before exiting the room and making her way back downstairs to see what her two kids were doing.
Not surprisingly she found both were curled up on one of the couches with Winston in between them. Likely all three of them were tired from playing all day long. Grabbing a nearby blanket she laid it over the trio and smiled to herself as they all latched on to it before snuggling further into the couch.
Meanwhile a car had just pulled up and out got Nicholas and Juniper, who had finally returned after a shopping-filled day, with Nicholas looking worse for wear as he carried all the bags towards the manor.
"Have fun shopping?'' she asked as she greeted the couple as they entered inside.
"Oh yeah, lots of fun. Tons of fun. So much fun I need a nap." Nicholas said as he set down all the bags he was carrying.
"You know I could've helped carry some of those if you let me." Juniper said as she looked towards her husband.
"When would you have carried them? You did most of the shopping." Nicholas replied with a small laugh as he began making his way upstairs towards their room.
"I'll have someone come wake you when dinner is ready in a few hours." Willow said as the man climbed the stairs giving a wave back in thanks.
"So where's Jaune?" Juniper said as she looked towards Willow.
"He's asleep in his room. He was studying all day and Klein likely put him through the ringer with all the terminology and concepts so I helped him to bed. He'll be woken up for dinner as well." Willow said as she and Juniper made their way towards the other unoccupied couch.
"Are you going to have someone else wake him up as well?"
"No, I can wake him on my own. He is my husband after all."
"It's still weird to think my little boy is married. Seems like yesterday he was playing with a wooden sword in the garden when he wasn't begging his father for training." Juniper said with a sigh.
"Why didn't he train him? Jaune has quite the mind for tactics and business as well if the two tests today are anything to go by. I'm sure he could've taken it well."
"Well with Nicholas being a huntsman and me being a huntress before settling down and also having some huntress friends you see some people not make it or go through horrible things and you can't wish that fate on anyone. Especially your kids. So we both kind of figured he might grow out of it if we left it alone."
"I can kind of understand that. When Winter went off and joined the military it was mainly to spite Jacques but I still did everything I could to try and support her. It wasn't much though as that prick still had a lot of control over me at the time. It was the same for Weiss unfortunately." Willow said as she looked over towards the sleeping Winter.
"Yeah I heard Jacques wasn't good."
"No he wasn't, but back to Jaune. He still got into Beacon despite the lack of training from your husband, right?"
"Yes and he took off one night with the family sword and a cheap set of armor he got from Oum knows where."
"Well that's fixed now that he has a proper weapon and armor thanks to Pietro." Willow said making a mental note to thank Pietro for his help again, maybe with a nice gift basket or something.
"Yes and I'm glad for that. It'll help protect him better should something happen to him." Juniper replied as a smile formed on her knowing her son would be better protected than he was beforehand.
About roughly two hours passed of idle chatter between the two when the trio asleep on the couch began to stir, prompting Willow to go talk to the staff about them preparing dinner.
Willow came back and informed everyone dinner was going to start being prepared so everyone went off to prepare for dinner.
Winter and Whitley went back to their rooms and took much needed showers after playing with the dog all day. While Juniper and Willow simply needed to freshen up.
After Willow was done she had someone go check on the Arc parents to make sure Nicholas had awoken and Juniper was informed of the time dinner was to be served before making her way to Jaune's room to wake him up.
After gently opening the door she saw the blond teen sprawled out on the bed with the blanket haven being thrown off of him onto the floor.
With an amused smile on her face she made her way over to the bed before gently shaking Jaune.
"Time to wake up dear. Dinner is almost ready." Willow said in a sweet voice.
"Ugh five more minutes." Jaune mumbled before rolling over.
"Now now, don't be like that." Willow said with a smirk as she flipped Jaune back over so he was facing her. "It's time to get up and you need to eat."
Groggily opening his eyes, Jaune saw Willow sitting on the bed beside him looking down on him and couldn't help but smile.
"Alright, let's go get some dinner." Jaune said as he sat up and got out of bed.
As the two made their way downstairs they found everyone else already seated around the table and sat down at the two open chairs before everyone dug in to the food.
After the meal was over Winter and Nicholas dragged Jaune off for some sword training whilst Willow, Juniper, and Whitley went outside with Winston to watch them.
After a few hours of sparring/training Nicholas, Jaune, and Winter were covered in sweat and decided to call it a night as it was starting to get late.
Everyone went back to their respective rooms and after varying lengths of showers, short for Jaune as he just wanted to get to bed, while Winter and Nicholas both took their times with their own showers as the manor had quite an advanced water heating system so as to not run out allowing for very long showers should one desire it.
After changing into a pair of gym shorts and deciding to forgo a tshirt for the night Jaune climbed into bed and was almost asleep when he felt an increase in warmth and a pair of arms wrap around him.
"Good night Willow." Jaune said he drifted off to sleep.
"Good night Jaune." Willow said as she too drifted off to sleep.
