The huge room was eerily quiet under the light of the chandelier above the oval table. It was dim and yet bright enough to brighten the room which had become the usual meet-up among the leaders of the clans in the land of Ishkar.
Kakashi stood quietly behind the empty chair, staring calmly at every guest that gradually filled up the nine chairs before the clock even reached eight in the evening. He wore his formal attire, consisting of the navy blue dress shirt that was tucked formally into his black pants. A dark coat hanging loosely around his broad shoulders with a chain of clock dangling from the pocket. The silver metal shines under the light, showing some pattern on the clock surface.
His expression was hidden behind the black mask that covered half of his face except for a pair of dark grey eyes which gave nothing despite the tension that slowly rose in the room. He noticed the leaders had grown restless from the quietness but no one dared to break, as if they were waiting for someone to start.
Kakashi's gaze lingered on his surroundings. It's been a while since he stepped into the room but it still looks the same; lack of furniture except for the set of long tables and chairs, a few bookshelves and vases of dried flowers, and also the same heavy curtain hanging at the only window of the room. It was like no one had attended the room since eight years ago which caused the dust to thicken and the scent of old papyrus strengthened in his nose.
However, even though the room still looks the same, he himself and the owner of the chairs have drastically changed throughout the years. That much Kakashi could tell.
The war had affected everyone, more than he could imagine. Through their eyes and expression, Kakashi can conclude that they were tired - wrinkles appeared around the eyes and mouths, eyebags were heavy, and the cheerfulness which usually resonated among them was gone like smoke. There's no chatting or bantering - only staring among themselves with gloom and tense expression.
Kakashi cleared his throat, trying to catch their attention. "While waiting for her, we should discuss the main matter."
"Will she come?" Someone asked and Kakashi recognized him as the leader of the Yamanaka Clan, Yamanaka Inoichi. His ashen blonde hair illuminates under ray but the usual calm in the emerald orbs is slightly dim tonight.
"Yes, I assure you," he replied, tone clipped.
"But she never appeared before us, no? I mean the aksara had nothing to do with her-"
"Lady Momoko," Kakashi said almost sternly. He realized his status before the leaders in the room but he will not anyone, any aksara to belittle his lady.
"The Aksara may not be her people, but the blood of Kaguya ran deeply in her vein," he said icily, causing the old leader to flinch at his tone. "Moreover, she was born in this land. There's no reason for her not to be concerned about this land's well-being."
"Kakashi is right. We only need to keep faith in her," the brute, muscular leader interjected, voice laced with finality.
At his words, everyone nodded sternly. In awe, Kakashi stared at the laik that was able to shut down the protest, even the slightest noise. His strong and sturdy voice, his body that executes strength and power, and the way he brings himself among his people were the reasons they feared and respected him. The man will be a great leader if it's not because of the prophecy.
That's the reason the meeting was held.
To discuss the damn prophecy.
You see, Kakashi is not the type who believes such things as prophecy. He doesn't believe knowing the future will help the land or defeat the mongus. What he knows is that the leaders need to be united now and find a way to solve the problems, not depending on an unsure variable.
"The mongus already started their moves," he stated, suddenly calling out for his servant from the outside. "Bring me the map."
The servant bows and then head outside. Killer B who prefers to be called B, taps the table to grab attention. "We have to find the prince. Quick."
"That's the matter of prophecy," Momoko sighed, clearly on the board with Kakashi on that matter. "Is it legit? I've been hearing it since ancient times but none come to pass."
"I agree. We cannot for sure depend on the prophecy alone. We need to act by ourselves and strike first," Yamanaka said, nodding his blonde head.
B contemplates for a moment, rubbing the stubble chin before locking his gaze with Kakashi. "The mongus think the prophecy is real, that's why they had searched for the prince all this time. We can't dismiss our only hope-"
"But what if the prince is dead?" Sabaku, who had kept silent the whole time, interfered.
The room went deadly quiet. All nine of them including Kakashi looked at each other, brows furrowing. The probability of such a situation didn't cross their mind at all.
"Let's be an optimist, shall we?" Kakashi said once the atmosphere had turned tense again. In his mind, he scowled at the Sabaku leader. Everyone knows he's one of the aksara who didn't believe in the prophecy. Wasting of time, he had said. Though it's kinda true because they had spent their energy and resources to find the prince but all the efforts were futile.
"We can't discard the probability, Hatake. All this time we place our bet, our hope on something uncertain. Shouldn't we focus on the present time instead of the future?" Sabaku retorted again, crossing his arms. He leaned against the chair and shot a glare at anyone who dared to refute his words.
"B-but he's our prince! The mongus are still out there looking for him. For sure he's still-"
"Lady Nohara, for all due respect, you need to broaden your mind," he snarled. "What an 18 years old laik can do to help the land? If he's still alive, he's weak. Without his father to teach him, he's nothing but an empty vassal to the raksha."
The young lady of the Nohara clan widened her eyes before lowering her head. "T-that's kinda true. But I'm still hoping he was out there, still breathing. I still believe in the prophecy."
The sturdy and unwavering loyalty of the three-tailed raksha set Sabaku on fire. His grip on the armchairs tightened and his body had leaned forward, almost touching the table's edge.
"You-"
"I assure you, your hope is not misplaced, Lady Nohara."
At hearing the soft and powerful voice, swiftly all of them stood up as the wooden door opened from the outside. Walking through the doorway was a lady, almost as tall as Lady Nohara but with a slim figure and huge bust, covered by the beige undershirt and red robe that draped to the floor, hiding the pure, white skirt underneath it. Her long, blond hair was tied in a messy bun, some tresses fell to frame the oval face. The always sharp mahogany eyes scanned the surroundings before landing on Kakashi's face.
"Apologize for the lateness," she said, a smile spread on her beautiful face. "It's hard to avoid the mongus nowadays. You know I don't have your aksara strength."
Kakashi chuckled slightly as he offered his hand and when the mar took it, he brought her to the empty chair and ushered her to take a seat.
"It's okay, Tsunade hime-sama. As long as you are here."
The assurance and honesty in his voice softened her gaze and she nodded her head, turning to face the audience in the room. There's relief, happiness, anger, and annoyance illustrated on their faces and Tsunade took pleasure in remembering the owner of such negative emotions.
"Before anything else, I want you to know that the prince is alive," she calmly said, ignoring the sound of grunt and huff. "But our focus now is not on the searching anymore."
All of them looked up with bewildered expressions. It's been their main goal for the past eight years. Sabaku, for once, thought they would continue the useless searching and at least indulged while secretly making his own plan.
"Why the change?" He asked curiously. Tsunade, although not one of them, has authority and power that held higher than him, the one-tailed raksha. Heck, except the nine-tailed raksha, everyone in the room was lower than her.
She's a mongus, but more than that, she's a Shikah. The direct descendant of Kaguya Goddess and inherit the seer and other abilities which made her dangerous and lethal. It's not wise for him to go against her when right at the moment, she at least has the support of half the Table.
"Because he's near."
"What?" Sabaku almost jumped from his seat. That can't be. His preparation is not yet completed. There are a lot of things to do before his clan is fully ready. He only needs another three moons, and when the time comes-
"He's somewhere around us but not fully blooming," Tsunade told them, closing her eyes for a second, and when she opened them, a golden ray glowed in the irises like a fire. It's when Tsunade in her Shikah state that the ancient power awakens, running through the blood of the goddess in her veins. "I can feel him, his heart beats with mine, his far but near, his strong yet weak. However, it's a matter of time before he finds us."
After she finished, her eyes had returned to their original color but were still bright and strong.
"So we had to wait?" B asked which earned a nod from the Shikah.
"He will come to us. And when he does, he will be fully awake, along with the Moon by his side."
Kakashi's eyes darted instantly to the mar's face, frowning as he slowly sank the information. Is that the new prophecy? He never heard about the Moon before. It is always the Sun, the prince, or the uniting.
"The Moon, hime-sama? Is she part of the prophecy?" Lady Momoko asked, confused by the sudden new element. "Aren't we supposed to focus on the prince only?"
Kakashi could only imagine it brought another load to the leaders' shoulders if they had to find another missing element to the prophecy. Probably they need to have another eight years until all the variables are completed and when the time did come, the land already perished at the hand of mongus.
Tsunade let out a soft chuckle, surprising Kakashi for a brief moment. He didn't find the question funny, though.
"You can't neglect the other when they exist in a pair, our esteem leaders. Just like husband and wife, yin and yang, fire and water - it's the same with our Sun and Moon. However, finding the moon is indeed our job."
"Hime-sama!" B moaned, rubbing his face tiredly. "We had used all our resources to find the prince, we can't-"
The Shikah held out her hand, stopping the complaint immediately. "I know and I understand. But the Moon is not that hard to find, actually."
"What do you mean, hime-sama?" Kakashi tilted his head from behind Tsunade, catching the amusement smirk on her red lips.
"In my dream, I only could see hair as dark as the starless night and skill pale as the full moon under the cloudless sky. Don't you think there's only one clan suit for our Sun?"
"Ah." The image of long, ebony hairs of a certain man quickly flashed into his mind. Kakashi nodded apprehensively, pleased with the choices.
"I heard he was blessed with two daughters," B mumbled but loud enough for the whole room to hear.
Tsunade smiled. "Indeed."
"And both are omega?" Roshi, the four-tailed raksha asked for the first time. He was always a quiet one but sometimes, he threw questions that reflect his concern for the land's being.
"Yes, I assure you," the Shikah said with confidence. "I already have someone in my mind to deal with the clan. And while waiting, we will discuss our next move to stop the mongus advance on our prince. Don't worry, we will win this war."
After the convincing speech, the air in the room lighten abruptly and tension sipped out under the cold weather. Smiles bloomed and gaze changed dramatically. There's no doubt that they will be able to pull out of the misery the mongus had put them through since the New Moon War.
They will get their land back and ruled the mongus once and for all.
A/N: This is my first attempt at writing NaruSasu fics. Usually, I prefer to read rather than write but my goal for this year is at least to write and finish a story whether it's a fic, translation, or stories. This is not the first idea or rather the third one. It's a fantasy in an omegaverse setup, smutty and short chapters. I think it's a bad move to write a long one since I tend to drop a series because of writer block. English is not my main language so excuse me for all the grammatical errors and whatnot. I'm trying to sharpen it through writing ,
And yeah, there are words that I created for this world. Just playing around, hope you guys don't mind. Enjoy reading and please leave a star if you like it!
