The first one's name was easy—Sousetsu, because he was perfectly white like the frost and snow. The second was a little trickier—Suimitsu, because he was the same color as a ripe white peach. The third's was the hardest—Shirogetsu, because his fur shone white like a full moon.
But the fourth's was the easiest of all. Shishi. Because she was the only heir to Jiji's slick, inky blackness.
Jiji watched, dizzy with pride, as his lovely mate cleaned the newborn kittens. Their kittens. His kittens. He purred for joy so hard he thought that he could just explode.
