Summary/disclaimer: Time for another chapter of Sorcerers and Soulmates. Enjoy the 1000-word chapter. I don't own LWA, Yoh Yoshinari and a few others do.
Aayden looked up at the dim brown ceiling, the low hanging light seemed sway like a star. He was tired, the bed as comfy as a cocoon, Aayden guessed the warm blankets and soothing pillow were simply a small price for the school to pay for education.
But he couldn't sleep. The shimmering stars seemed like a thousand lights all burning into his eyes. He shook his head, crossing his arms and slowly sitting up slowly in his bed as he slowly pulled himself out of his bed.
"Oy, this is going to be a long night, isn't it?" Aayden questioned as he shook his head, walking to the oak door. "I don't know what's going to happen, this is something else." Aayden stated as he slowly reached the door handle, twisting it slightly to the side.
The door opened, rewarding Aayden with pitch black light of the narrow bare hallway. The tan paint seemed to be ashen black in the moonlight, then again? Aayden hadn't paid much attention to the looks of the hallway. He slowly stepped into the part of the building, his eyes slowly adjusting to the light.
They did, NOT HOWEVER, adjust to the silhouette which Aayden didn't notice for the few seconds it took for him to crash into the figure. Aayden let out a muffled curse as he collapsed to the ground, spinning in a circle as he blinked in absolute surprise.
"What the hell!?" Aayden questioned as he mentally racked his brain for who could be out this late.
"Watch where you're going!" Aayden heard in a muffled tone as he held out his hands, trying to arrest his fall as he sighed.
The moonlight showed him enough to know he had crashed into one of the many women who attended the school. Aayden could make out greenish locks of hair which seemed almost as peculiar as the magic this school taught. They were draped in a white dress which seemed to contrast in every single way with the small natural colors of the room around them.
Then again? This was a school for training for magic, the idea anything was at all normal in anyway shape or form was at least somewhat comical when he thought about it.
"I'm sorry, I didn't see you." Aayden said as he managed to slowly pick himself up slightly. "Wait, why the hell are you out this late!?" Aayden stated as he tried to corral his voice to a more manageable level.
"I was busy admiring the artistry, you ruffian." The voice said as Aayden rolled his eyes.
'Ruffin? Seriously? This sounds like an old-time greaser joint or something. It's just weird.' Aayden thought, more offput by the words then any pain rushing to his thick head as he thought about how he could respond.
The woman looked at him, two orbs full of anger and high class. It was enough to make Ayden weak for words for once at the moment, he was curious who this was. This all, however, was not enough to make him forget his manners and off a hand to get the woman off his feet.
"I'm sorry, I didn't notice someone else stepping into the hallway at the moment." Ayden said, awkwardly rubbing at part of his neck, too caught off guard to really think of words.
The woman accepted his hand, some of the cold she was exhorting seemed to melt away as she realized the gesture was mostly an accident and he meant no harm. He brushed off his shirt.
"Why are you even here then if everyone is asleep?" Aayden heard as he sighed, holding his hands up as he did so.
"I wanted some time to think and make sure everything is, ok?" Aayden questioned as he shook his head. "I've just been here a day. I don't know what's going to happen tomorrow, I just wanted to think about what's going to happen next, ok? That so damn wrong?" Aayden questioned, as he did so.
"I…. Suppose that makes some sense." The woman said as she looked around the hallway. "I'm Diana Cavendish." The woman added, offering her hand as Aayden nodded...
He reached out towards the slender arm and shook it slightly, looking at the woman who clicked her fingers together while she shook her head.
"Aayden Adairmon." Aayden stated, shaking her hand as he leaned on the wall behind him. "I'm really sorry I hit into you by accident. I can't really see anything; it isn't like there's a light orb spell." Aayden said as he put his hand to his temples, curious as to where he was.
"There might be?" Diana asked as she looked up into the sky a few moments later. "I don't know what the teaching curriculum will end up being, but I know enough to know it's clear that spell might exist at the end of the day. It wouldn't be that simple, but it's certainly something I can imagine them teaching at the moment." Diana added, brushing off her dress as she did so.
"There's plenty of work, however." Diana said while she shook her head. "I do not know what to expect either, it is part of the teaching class at the moment to keep us on our toes." Diana said as she paused to take in her surroundings.
"Would you like to walk around the building then?" Aayden questioned as he brought a hand to his temples.
