Prologue

The teacher lectures in front of the classroom, the alumni listen attentively, or most of them do. As soon as the bell rings, the class is dispersed, with a few people standing behind on their seats, taking their belongings or chatting.

Ryo Marufuji is one of them, but he is doing neither, his mind is somewhere else, his eyes squint a bit as the thoughts of his long lost friend come to mind, he shakes his head and gets up.

There are some girls in that class that are specially loud, he overhears their conversation while passing by.

"You heard the last news?"

"What, What?!"

"Do you remember when there was that case of a group of students that went to the abandoned dorm after it was forbidden last year?"

"Yes, didn't they do it like, right after it was forbidden and everyone was afraid? And weren't there rumors that out of the students that went there, there was a girl that came back? The only one that came out alive. Thrilling."

"Yes, the truth is she did come back, but apparently she became all isolated and strange, no one knows what happened, she didn't tell anyone what occurred there and it was all a big problem. She couldn't speak, it seems."

"Creepy. Did she become dumb or something?"

"No, everyone wonders why, maybe she was regretting going there or something. But the thing is, she will start attending classes again this year, in our class."

"Eeeh, that is so unfair! If she couldn't come for this long, she should be demoted and give more space for new blood! I doubt she can catch up to us students of obelisk blue again!"

"Maybe the director is letting her come back out of pity, but she might be very outdated in terms of knowledge by now."

"Ah, look, Kaiser-sama is passing by!"

"Kyaah. So cool!"

They soon get distracted by his mere presence and much to his bother, the annoying squeals reach his ears. He doesn't care in the least for any of those girls, if anything, Asuka was the only girl he had a friendly relationship with for many reasons, mostly because of her brother.

Ignoring their reactions, he gets out of the room. Why do some people even occupy themselves by making rumors and spreading it? If they used their time more wisely, maybe they could become better duelists.

That same night, Ryo stands on the bridge connecting the coast to the lighthouse. His gaze is lost in the horizon, his arms crossed, as if he is waiting for something. A sigh, no way Fubuki is coming back now, but he still came here despite telling himself that.

Asuka is also there, her eyes filled with hopes of good news. This was something he admired in her: no matter the situation, how many times she felt hopeless, she would stand up and look at the path ahead. He wishes his little brother could be like that too.

After a while she departs first with a faint smile. He observes her until she is gone, then his eyes are cast to the sea again.

"Is Fubuki still alive somewhere…?"

Shaking off those thoughts he steps towards the obelisk dorms again, but there in this same night something is about to happen, something that will shake this whole academy later. Secrets never remain uncovered forever.

As he makes his way back to the dorm, still nearby the lighthouse, amidst the darkness he sees a person standing on the top of the cliff above. His eyes squint slightly, trying to see better the person there, it is certainly a girl, but what is she…?

He dismisses those questions and starts walking again until the loud sound of water splashing occurs, his sight frantically searching for the cause.

"That girl… She is not on the cliff anymore… Don't tell me she...?!"

He gasps in shock, he is sure she jumped down to the sea, into the unbridled waves, his heart accelerates, he has to do something! Without a second thought, he jumps into the ocean too.

A girl that lost everything and a boy that had everything he could wish for, what will come from their meeting? A tale starts under the eerie veil of darkness.
