A/N: Last chapter I have in mind. Then, probably, a BCD chapter. Thinking Kuran. I'd like to save Seiren for last. Rima would be second to last. Which means Shiki and Ichijo would be the next.
Stop. Kain panted as he segregated himself from the neck, desperate for the sweet taste and touch. He heard the whine from far away, dazed as Aidou waved his hand in his face, smacking him. He wrapped a hand around his cousin's wrist, inhaling the scent. No, he concluded, the blood wasn't his. He wet his lips again as his cousin helped him stand. He stumbled against his cousin, his eyes landing on the crumbled body of Kiryuu. Kain stopped dead in his tracks, understanding slowly dawning. "Come on. I'll come back for him."
Kain dropped to his knees, crawling towards him against Aidou's wishes. Even now, he felt groggy as he lifted the Hunter into his arms, examining the bite he left. "Don't you dare, Akatsuki."
"He fed me." Kain muttered against Kiryuu's hair, trying to steady himself as he lifted the other.
"I'll come back for him." Aidou soothed, trying to lift Kain. Finding the aristocrat holding the Hunter, he pinched the bridge of his nose. "I can't carry you both, Akatsuki."
"I can carry him." Kain assured, resting Kiryuu's head against his shoulder. He picked him up bridal style, using Aidou to stabilize them. "He's pale."
"You almost drained him." Aidou answered, an arm around his cousins' waist. Kain rested against Aidou, forcing himself awake.
"I'm tired."
"That I can believe." Somehow, Aidou managed to guide the staggering Kain to the car, watching as the aristocrat climb into the back next to his chosen. He watched as Kain shifted into a position where Kiryuu was comfortable, even if he wasn't. He wrapped his arms around the others waist, stroking the side of his face. "Aren't you worried he'll bite you?"
Kain shook his head. "He won't wake until the transfusions."
Silence. Every so often, Aidou would examine the couple as he drove the highway. His cousin shifted his position each time, from pressing his lips against Kiryuu's head to toying with his fingers to stroking his hair. It seemed to the driver that Kiryuu snuggled deeper into Kain at each ounce of affection. "Akatsuki?"
"Hmm?" He found Aidou's eye, clutching Kiryuu's side.
"I'm glad you're happy." Aidou finally said, sorting through his thoughts. He only shared a half smile. "What's your favourite thing about him?"
"His dry sense of humor… His eyes… His moan… The way he smiles when he's amused." Kain couldn't help the wide grin spreading across his face, pained as he traced the new scars he left.
"He insisted." Aidou tried.
"I figured that much." Kain watched the street lights increase, toying with Kiryuu's fingers. "Will you tell the Kurans?"
"If I don't, Ruuka will." Aidou replied.
"Emphasis how bad it was. Even if you have to exaggerate."
"Building burning, glitter monster, three really hot women who all sacrificed themselves?"
"Add a hot guy and maybe." Aidou snorted as Kain traced Kiryuu's lip. "Actually, don't. I don't want to have to fight with someone over Kiryuu."
"Someone's in L-O-V-E." He winced at Kain's back hand. "Okay, great like, then."
"What about yours?" He questioned, resting his hand on Kiryuu's back, rubbing the shoulder blade.
"Unknown yet. Somebody was busy being Kain-napped…"
"A pun. Really?" He covered a yawn.
"Are you going to bring him to it?" Aidou asked.
"I'll ask." He assured, his eyes drooping. He shook himself awake. "Can you ask Gonkuro to make a stew?"
"Does it help?" Aidou asked, watching the sleeping figure as he nuzzled Kain's neck.
"It should." He adjusted Kiryuu just as the others fangs extended. Aidou pulled to the front, ready to assist Kain. Gonkuro outran him, resting Kain against him.
"Stew." Aidou tried.
"Stew." Gonkuro confirmed, slight smile on his face. "See the transfusion is set up and force Kain to sleep somewhere else."
After hearing his butler, Kain squeezed Kiryuu tightly, his eyes narrowing. "No."
"Kain." Touya guided him to the sofa. Souen rushed to his side afterwards. Touya took Kiryuu from him. Souen glared at the silverette.
"Ruuka, he saved me." Kain warned, leaning against her.
"He endangered you." She fought, settling him onto the couch.
"No, Miss Souen," Gonkuro piped up, "Kain went missing shortly after Mr. Kiryuu and myself ate. Enmei was to join us and got a call to pick him up."
Kain felt Gonkuro was lying but held his tongue. For the first time, he studied the room around him. "The workers got a lot done."
"Now is not the time for exploring, Master Kain."
"Can I go to bed?" He asked, as sheepish as any four-year-old.
"Not in Kiryuu's." Touya exclaimed, returning from setting him with the transfusion. "He's quite bity right now."
"But, he's alone." He wasn't sure if it was his tiredness or his new emotional bond to Kiryuu that decided his actions. "He's been alone most of his life."
He fidgeted to right himself against Souen and Touya. Gonkuro stood back as Aidou tried to settle the two girls from fighting him. Exasperated, he stepped down and whistled loudly. Touya covered her ears, cringing as Souen glared at her boyfriend. "Akatsuki fed on him."
"Thanks." Kain muttered under his breath.
"I know." Touya replied. "That's why I'm trying to keep them apart."
"What do you know about it, Touya?" Souen questioned, her arms crossing over her chest.
"I know how much I wanted to drain Sayori." She didn't glance at anyone in the room.
"Akatsuki has more control than that." Aidou assured.
"But, Touya said it herself: Kiryuu's bity." Souen stated. Kain draped an arm over his eyes, falling into Kiryuu's shared emotional mind. Satisfied to find him relaxed, he dozed.
Kain woke early, surprised to find his cousins and Touya asleep around him. The only sounds he could find were Gonkuro in the kitchen, busying himself with meal preparation. Quietly, he seated himself in the bar stool. Gonkuro turned and placed a hand over his heart. "Don't sneak up on an old man."
"Sorry." His head darted to his shared bedroom. "How is he?"
"Still out of it. From what Aidou described, sounded like some sort of vampire poison. The most common being Hunter spells where it requires fresh blood but, Zero's not human so, couldn't be." He leaned against the counter, steady staring his childhood friend. "Is it starting?"
"Is what starting?" Kain asked, knowing full well what Gonkuro meant.
"The emotions. The slips." Gonkuro clarified. Kain sank his head down. The butler inhaled loudly. "You'll need to complete the bond, then."
"Why?" Kain asked, knowing full well why.
"The descent into madness is slow but steady. I've seen it a million times with Kitashi's play things. Inevitably, it'll lead you into the sense of insecurity and hatred and jealousy." He poured each of them a tea. "Now, have you figured out who'd want you out of the way?"
"Many people. No way to narrow it." He was glad Gonkuro could tell when to drop a conversation.
"Start. I'll look into it."
"Kurans. Council. Hunters. AVAH. Colleagues." He lowered his head. "Kiryuu."
"Kurans first?" Gonkuro asked.
"Yes. I think Kaname no longer needs me. Especially if he learned what happened." He wet his lips, the taste faint on his tongue.
"Feeling the cravings?" Gonkuro questioned.
"More so his cravings." He bit his lip, forcing himself to remain in the current. "I think he's a bite whore."
"Well, he can beg for it but it doesn't mean you should. Especially considering how much you want to." He noted.
"Two weeks between bites should be okay?" Kain questioned.
"Two to three weeks should be." Gonkuro's face twisted into one of a joking-serious manner. "Now, when you have the sex –"
"Oh, dear…" He covered his ears. "Don't you dare."
"Don't you dare what?" Touya asked, yawning as she poured herself a coffee.
"I'm trying to explain safety during carnal activities." He winked at his Master.
"Condoms are a must, Kain. Though, if you want him to claim you…" Again, that wink. Kain groaned, slamming his head against the counter. "But seriously, I say hotel. Say, in the Bahamas…"
"I'm not going to the freakin' Bahamas, Touya." He muttered between clenched teeth.
"Who's going to the Bahamas?" Souen asked, stifling a yawn. She thanked Gonkuro for the tea.
"I'm trying to convince Kain to take Kiryuu on a flirtation."
Souen rolled her eyes. "Vacation and flirtation in the same sentence? Anyway, the Bahamas wouldn't fit Kain. Try Finland."
"Or Sweden." A new voice added. Aidou sauntered into the kitchen without much reason other to be around people. "The closer to cold, the better."
"Fine, fine." Touya consented. "What about a world tour where they can join the mile high club?"
"Hell no." Kain tried to hide the smile growing on his face. Kiryuu slipped into the seat next to Kain, unphased by the others instant touch. "Travelling is up to us."
"I'm just trying to help –" Touya backpedaled.
"Then, let us explore whatever we are." His objection was reasonable though, Kain felt it more of a command. He exchanged glances with Gonkuro, knowing that he now had a master to obey.
A/N: This was as far as my brain wanted to go. Next up, a BCD chapter. Probably Kuran and Kuran. Most likely.
Until next time, lovelies!
