Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of A Lingering Ember. Enjoy the 2000-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.
(Vale.)
Neo followed Ollie back into the stain-soaked hallways, the ramshackle debris strewn about made her think of something from her childhood. It made her question the time.
Ollie tilted his head to the side while he sighed to himself before he glanced at the second. She let go of his hand before he hummed to himself.
"Hmm," Ollie said before he sighed to himself as he clicked his tongue against the roof of his throat.
He found her odd, a lot odder than he expected it to be. Then again? He didn't know what the hell to expect. She hadn't said anything and he had yet to tell her what was going on with himself. He suspected she was a lost and scared girl. Then again? He'd MUCH rather leave before it looked like something wrong and horrid compared to him simply trying to lead them to safety.
He sighed to himself before he turned to face her, he could hear the whistling of the wind, but she hadn't moved. At least, he hadn't heard it as of the second.
"I'm… Sorry." Ollie said before he shook his head. "I'm dragging you around the city like an idiot, I should go. I'm probably coming off like a total creep." Ollie said before he moved to go and depart into the shadows.
He was honestly finding it odd as of the second. This had to end sooner or later. A lot sooner than he expected to as of the time.
He felt a dainty hand clasp his arm as he turned. He could not see her face, but the grip was strong, unyielding, it wasn't something that he could shake off. He turned and tilted his head, his dirty and unkept hair peeking out of the hooded and tattered cloak while he did so.
The girl was smiling and rolling her eyes, not as if he could see the gesture… But he felt her finger poke his nose as she seemed to be suggesting highly against this. Ollie seemed to relent as he backed down, at odds with what this meant.
"You want me to stay?" Ollie asked to which there was a shake of his arm. "If that's what you want. Ok, so, Neo? I'm uh, not the best with people as you can tell. This isn't something when it comes down to it. He was honestly curious as of the time." Ollie stated before he hummed to himself.
He was honestly curious as to what he did next. She was still surprising him and he had a feeling this wouldn't change at the moment at least.
He rubbed at his nose curious as to the next move. This had to change sometime soon. The more time he devoted to this insanity, the more he found it to be funnier than anything he had dealt with before now. He rubbed at his temples, annoyed a lot more by what was coming next.
Ollie found at least some amusement in it still. She giggled to herself before she hummed, interested in what was coming next. Still? If she wanted to drag him around? He supposed that he'd allow it.
She slowly started to pull him along as he hummed, tilting his head to the side before he sighed to himself, clicking his fingers together.
"You talk a lot, no?" Trivia asked on her scroll which Ollie hummed at, tilting his head to the side. "And I'll be ok. I cannot talk normally." Trivia stated before Ollie said before he hummed to himself at the time.
The boy fell silent as he clicked his fingers once more. He couldn't hear her for a second. It had made him question what to do next. Ollie had been surprising her as much as she had been surprising him.
Still? There were many questions between them while they walked, interested in what the hell was going on at the time and what was to question before he sighed as of the second.
"Well, you're not the only person whom I've known that has that quirk," Ollie stated before he leaned on the wall.
Trivia let go of his arm as she turned towards him. She blinked as she poked his nose again, straining on the top of her tiptoes to do so as she rolled her eyes at him. She could sense something off about him, like her. It had been something fun that made her question if something was going on. Something that couldn't be explained, nor did she expect it to be interesting. It had been something that she wanted to do next.
Still? She had been interested in what to do next at the time. she had been curious and constantly pondering what was to come next. It had been something interesting.
Ollie laughed and poked her back, his hood moving slightly as he tried to return the hood to its regular location. He hummed, far calmer than he had been a few seconds ago.
The two looked at one another before police sirens started to signal down the road, they stared back at one another. They crossed their arms before he nodded in the direction of the cop cars. Trivia knew that they were probably coming after her as of the second. It was going to be insane and she didn't want to be caught by these cops, many of whom worked for her father.
"You still, ok?" Trivia heard from Ollie as she hummed to herself.
She was curious as of the second. He didn't seem to be scared. Was he on their payroll? There was a lot more on the second. He had been calm when it came to it.
The sirens drew closer, filling the alleyway with them. He turned to look towards before he hummed to himself. He had been curious about her, yet something told him that she was different. It had been driving him insane when it came down to it.
"We need to go." Trivia said before she started to pull Ollie alongside her. "Please, they're working for my father." Trivia typed before he hummed.
He had been honestly curious at the time. She couldn't believe that something like this had happened, but she had been curious at the time. He glanced at her and tilted his head to the side, looking around before he hummed to himself before he looked around at everything around him before he hummed to himself.
She said nothing for only a moment. It had been hard to type on her scroll as she looked at him. The sirens drew closer before he glanced at her before he slowly started to tug her forward and nodded at her. It was what he expected from her. He hummed at her.
"Ok," Ollie said as he sighed and looked down before he slowly started to walk her forward. "You mean the corrupt police?" Ollie questioned before he hummed to himself.
Trivia's eyes widened, she had been happy at the time, surprised at this when it came down to it. She was going to be interested at the time.
He said nothing while he pulled her into the alley. He didn't want to be terrifying at the time before he hummed to himself as he sighed and started to pull himself forward along the path. She followed her after her before she hummed to herself.
It had been a lot more confusing to her how he was so calm at the time, there was a piece of the puzzle that she had yet to see. It was something that she had been curious about at the time.
The sirens began to scream through the alley like the savage cries of a Beowolf. It had been something that had been starting to become harder and harder to ignore.
"There's a police car behind us as well if you run? They will get you before you get halfway to the other street." Ollie said before he gripped her arm. "C'mon. I know a shortcut that cuts across town… Unless you'd like to tell me why the police scare you more than the stranger you seem to be clinging to harder than a pup to its mother." Ollie said before he hummed to himself.
The idea made her laugh before she tapped his shoulder. It seemed to give him the answer as he dragged her into a side passe which seemed far too small for anyone to fit through…. Was he mocking her or was he simply ahead of the curve to a degree that he knew better than her? It had been a lot more interesting for her to know this than she had before.
It was a far funnier case that had made her want to roll her eyes. She had a feeling there was more to her tapping garnering more of a response than anything, but she'd leave the questions for if she had anything else resembling a future.
It had been something she wanted to be answered, but it'd be something she would wait on when it came down to it. there was a lot more on the line when it came down to it. A lot more had to be answered.
He easily slipped into another part of the alley and only turned to make sure she hadn't let go. There was a long way for him to go if they were to get to the tunnel where he knew the police didn't look.
They didn't want trash, and he knew where the trash was more than anything. They didn't want to be dealing with something that didn't matter to society, not society that didn't pay them to look the other way when it came down to it.
Ollie felt as if he'd be sick if something didn't happen. This girl had given him a lot more questions than he was honestly hoping that this was going to answer sooner or later. It was a lot more interesting as of the second. There was a lot more at the time.
Ollie heard a noise behind him. Not Trivia, it had been clinging to his hand. No. Something else. It was a noise that he was used to when someone saw him and the rich asked for something to deal with him.
The police. The crooked ones at the very least at the moment. He turned towards them. If they wanted Trivia? It was not for a reason he believed was honestly a good thing.
There were more than 2. He sighed; they wanted the girl whom he had yet to question.
Still? If they wanted her for some reason? He'd at least ask, he couldn't just blindly assume that they were bad and attack them. It would make him just as bad as them as of the moment and the last thing he wanted was for that to be the case.
He hummed as Trivia seemed to move behind him. It'd be a nice thing if he wasn't more terrifying. He hummed to himself before he sighed himself.
He rested his hand on his hip before he hummed and sighed to himself as he glanced around. He could hear a lot more than he thought he had.
"Stay behind me," Ollie said before he rolled his eyes and looked around before he rubbed at his temples.
He crossed his arms and looked at the cops before he tilted his head. They had been more than quiet as they seemed to wait for something. He didn't know what they were trying to gain, but he did know he couldn't let them have it.
