Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of A Lingering Ember. Enjoy the 3800-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.
(Vale.)
It was a small boat, one which was only large enough for 2, people. It seemed to be some sort of motorboat, a little bit of rowboat as well, it was painted in blue and whiteish hues. Trivia tilted her head as Ollie seemed to hum.
"It will be a little while before we get there. The motor will only get us… What, half the way?" Ollie said before he shrugged. "We get to the trading port halfway between Mistral and Vale, we get a boat from there to Mistral," Ollie said before he hummed.
Trivia hummed and nodded, she checked her scroll and found out it had a 75% charge left. She gingerly leaped into the boat, placing her bag next to her as Ollie gently leaped into the other part of the boat. He picked up a pair of oars and sheepishly questioned what was coming next when all of it was said and done when it was all before now when the move smiled at her.
"I like rowing, sorry, hope that doesn't bug you as you want it to? I like adventures…. This will be the first one I've been on." Ollie said as he slowly started to twirl the oars in the water.
Trivia could only smile, too amused by her new friend to argue, to say anything that may or may not be an argument. She smiled and sat closer, sitting directly in front of Ollie, separated only by the last set before she reached the last step of the boat.
It felt… nice, she hadn't been able to relax like this often, not so much that it had been a while before she managed to enjoy herself more often like this.
He cleared his throat before he tilted his head at her, only curious for now, unsure of what to say.
"We're going to have a while before we get to Mistral," Ollie said while he tilted his head at her. "Can we talk now? we need to sort some stuff out; I don't mind if it's hand gestures or words or such." Ollie said to which Trivia hummed.
She tapped at her lip and looked around as they slowly started to question what to do next. As of now? she had no real reason to trust anyone, no one word for now.
Still? He was a lot more kind than what she had gotten, a lot more willing to do next. She knew part of her could trust him, everyone seemed to trust him at some point and there was at least some part of her that made her question what to do next.
There was a lot more to question, and she knew more than this came honestly weird. She liked it, liked the thrill in the rest of the day. It had been nice, odd, weird even, but nice. She wanted to do more with less and she wasn't going to let it all get brought down.
If there was even a little too much to do next? She'd make sure that it was all to her liking before it came down to it.
"Hmm." Trivia said before she sat closer.
"Ok, first question. you have an army of cops trying to hunt you for something your father did… Because your father is the bad guy?" Ollie questioned to which there was a lot of silence from them.
Well? He was oh so curious for now. It had been something that amused him more than make it so he didn't at all do anything that had been done. She had been a lot more curious about what to do, what to say for now, and what would be coming. It had been the worst thing they could suffer through, something that could and would ignite like a bomb if it wasn't given proper control, proper ideas, and proper ways to grow. He had a plan, yes, but it wasn't as if the plan was foolproof for now. They had a lot more on their minds than just what little had. It was just something bad for them and none of them wanted to be within the idea was to question as of now. It was a to handle, a lot more to be handled, and a lot more that had to be completed.
It had been a nightmare, one which they were trying to escape. The only problem? He didn't know if they COULD escape it. they could row as far away as possible, but a rich man's wallet had a very little limit, it could cast a net all over the world, one which would strangle it all if they weren't careful, and they damn sure wanted to be careful at the end of the day. if anything?
The idea had been something that had to question when it seemed to be all too dead and dusted.
She shifted her weight, sitting in front of Ollie to the point her knees were brushing against his, there was a moment of silence as she leaned forward, her pale bare fingers brushing against his face as she tapped on his face, curious as to what came next would be a weird little thing if anything? There was going to be something odd before now.
She pulled his face into another smile, making him roll his eyes, curious as to what the girl was planning as she tugged at his face with her fingers, curious as to how this was going to be an adventure and what was to come next, something that had been something needed to be a weird problem.
She had been a weird little problem, it had always been a weird little problem that had been done and done and dusted at the end of the day, it had been amusing, funny, curious. He liked it. He liked her, the fire within her had been done and dusted.
She watched as he reached out, smiling a lot more as he seemed to question what to do next, there was so much more to do. He nodded at this.
"Ok then, a smile is yes, a frown is no, ok?" Ollie asked as she pushed another smile. "Yes or no, you just wanted me to get you out of the city?" Ollie asked which resulted in her pushing his lips up.
"Yes or no, you don't trust or care if something happened to me after we got here?" Ollie asked, getting his lips pulled down. "Final question then… Are we friends? You… Trust me, right?" Ollie asked to which there was a pause.
He knew more than she what was coming, what the point was. She could cut his throat and throw whatever was left in the water, chum for the fish. It might even force the police to back off for a few days which might be a problem.
It seemed to be a lot more to handle for now. What little they had more training for now. The little question before now was what she'd done before. It was a lot more of a small little problem.
"Triv?" Ollie questioned before he tilted his head while he sighed to himself.
He tilted his head, curious as to her move. She pushed his lips into the widest smile she could. Ollie smiled even though it seemed to question what happened to be done as of now. The idea had been something that needed to be addressed for now. There was more to happen when it when was all over with it.
They had to be ready for the monsters when it was oh so done before her father came after them. Still? He knew how to escape for now.
"Then I'll trust you. We need to get going." Ollie said as he continued to row. "And you're going to keep playing with my face no matter what, aren't you?" Ollie asked which got another smile.
"This is going to be fun, me and you on some crazy little adventure," Ollie said before he looked at her. "You know something? I was born the way you see me. My eyes didn't work right from day one. I still could see when I was a kid… But? My family didn't have the cash to fix it." Ollie said while he tilted his head.
He was a lot more thrown off a bit, all too curious as to how this would bring. The nightmare was to end.
"And yes, I can still understand you or tell you in front of me," Ollie said as he continued rowing. "I'm blind, not deaf, not mute. I just didn't meet someone who's like me… I don't mean that to be offensive at all." Ollie stated before he tilted his head, curious as to how this could be.
"Your one weird guy, you know that?" Trivia stated to which Ollie nodded.
"I get that a lot, but I'm not all bothered," Ollie stated to which he looked at her. "I like weird, there's nothing wrong with weird. Sides? You're a bit weird, running into the alleyways of Vale. Vale isn't that much different than Mistral of Vacuo. It's not that different compared to those crime hives… You still didn't tell me why your dad cares so much." Ollie stated to which Neo hummed.
Trivia hummed before wondering if he could do something that she had been taught… Not by her parents at the end of the day, but that was probably for the best, they didn't see her as anything more than a little pawn, one who was tripped around on strings that the puppeteer moved around.
She began to move her fingers and hands, wondering if he could properly communicate. She tapped his hands to which he nodded.
"Yeah, I can tell…" Ollie stated as he clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth. "I can tell what you're trying to say. It's not that hard… Mom used to do that; she didn't know if not being able to see was the only thing that would happen to me." Ollie added to which she tilted her head.
"You good?" Ollie questioned as he continued to do such. "And you might want to take off your gloves. I can't tell entirely what you're saying… Sign language isn't that easy… At least to me." Ollie said as Trivia sighed and rolled her eyes.
Ollie said nothing, he knew for a fact that there was a lot more to this game than it had been before now. it took a minute before he felt her soft and tiny hands touched him again.
"Hmm…" Ollie said before he raised an eyebrow. "So, your dad is some famous hotshot on the council? Great, that makes it easier. If he's involved with a crime like this? Then that just means more danger. People like this usually can make people like me vanish… Plus? It doesn't help when those people have all the money in the world." Ollie stated as he hummed.
He tilted his head, curious for now. she raised an eyebrow before now, curious for now what to do. The adventure would be something, he had to get it done and dusted.
"Well, I'm sorry you have lousy sign language skills." Trivia teased as she looked at her friend.
"There's a lot more to handle when we get there, you know. The rest of Vale will be done and dusted." Ollie stated as he sighed before now.
She was a lot more curious for now, one which would not once would be a problem for this. They had more to do, more to say and do something that caused it to be a problem for now. Whatever else came next would be a nightmare. Now? there would be chaos at the end of the day. Whatever else came after this. The problem would continue to flare up as long as there were problems to handle. Problems that weren't so easily stymied for now, if they were? Well? This would all be solved sooner or later given enough time and effort behind it all… The only problem would be in solving it.
She tapped at his hands and locked up their fingers tightly before squeezing them a lot harder than it could have been. The idea made her a lot more unsure of how to properly handle this.
He squeezed back, all too uneasy, and then held up his fingers which made her nod. She tapped his face and tilted it towards the shore before curling 2 of her fingers down.
"You don't want to come back?" Trivia heard before she held her fingers up, brushing the calloused palm of his hand. "Ok… Vale must be something would be wrong for you, isn't it?" Ollie asked.
She clung to him, putting all of her weight into the gesture. Ollie went limp, unsure of how to adapt to this properly. He slowly yet surely returned the gesture, frowning as she nuzzled into his side, looking for warmth, some sort of acceptance, unsure of how to adapt, understand her.
"Triv… Are you good?" Ollie asked while slowly starting to reach towards the engine with one of his hands.
She shook her hair, her long brown hair brushing against his face as she seemed to tilt her head, watching as he gripped her shoulders tightly, squeezing them tightly while he hummed to himself to handle what to do next, they had more when it came to it.
"Triv. I'm not going anywhere. I don't know what to say, ok? People don't normally connect with me like this." Ollie said before he tilted his head before he sighed to himself.
He tilted his head, unsure while he tried to calm her, with a pull of the cord? The boat surged forward, unsure of how to handle it when it came down to it.
There was a lot more to their game, a lot more that hadn't yet been explored for yet the game hadn't revealed.
"Triv, you going to be, ok?" Ollie questioned as she nodded weakly. "Ok. First things first? You're going to need a weapon if we're going to get anywhere safely, I can't protect you 24/7 and you might be a badass but I can't exactly see you beating guys with automatic weapons with just some kicks." Ollie stated as he hummed, tilting his head to the side.
Trivia rolled her eyes but conceded the point, there was nothing she could do to make herself more bulletproof and her little knife wouldn't exactly help much against people who were bringing bigger weapons, a bullet would still drop him more than anything, nothing was stopping them from continuing to shot at them, they had a weaker chance of winning if they didn't just throw it all to the side.
She nodded, not that he'd notice it sooner or later. There was a lot more to consider when they got to Mistral. A lot more to do when they got to the trading post, and a lot more nightmares to handle something like this when it came.
He had been a lot more to question before now while he sighed while he hummed to himself while he questioned before he tilted while he hummed to handle while he questioned what to do.
He tilted his head, clasping her hands once more and giving her a gentle and reassuring squeeze as he tilted his head before he sighed, all too unsure of how this went.
He seemed to be questioned before now. He hummed before he rolled his eyes, unwilling to do something when it came to him while he tilted his head. He seemed to question what to do next.
Ollie felt the boat begin to move forward, unsure of what to do next.
"Are you good?" Ollie asked while he raised his eyebrow, his hands not unlocking from hers as he mulled over his ideas. "I'm not going anywhere anytime soon. If this is all because of your evil dad?" Ollie questioned to which she tilted her head at him, unsure of what to do next.
He questioned before now as he sighed before he tilted his head, she squeezed his hands before now while he nods, unsure what to do next. He stayed silent and tilted his head, hoping she'd be now peaceful.
She clung to him as if he was going to leave if not for anything when all of this was done and dusted. He sighed and hugged her back, uneasy in this position when it came down to it. He sighed, preparing for now what to question before now.
If she wanted to care? He'd try and comfort her, he seemed to crack his fingers, humming while all of his minds slowly started to come along this problem. He was so ready for something to answer this for now at the end of the time.
He sighed and knew more than anything that she was going to be his partner. There was no damn way he could just leave her alone in the world in which he left for now. The problem was just how far he'd be digging this in when it came down to it. He had to go further if he was to find out the truth.
The other thing was just because of how well he knew Trivia would hate him and he'd hate himself if he just left her alone in this damned world. It'd be what he hated if he was honest with himself.
"Trivia. I'm not going anywhere, ok? I think I also have a favor I can cash in… If they don't chat with me… How about I get you a proper weapon, ok?" Ollie questioned, unsure if it would stick without proper training when all was said and done.
Did he tilt his head, before now? This was heading to an end and he knew it. The end came sooner or later for them for the time being.
Still? Their problems were just beginning and both of them understood it for now. What he didn't know was just how correct he'd end up being right about When all of this was done and dusted.
Trivia finally let go, but sat in front of him, their knees brushing just to show she didn't at all plan on going when it seemed to come when he questioned before.
He had a lot more to focus on when this came down to it. If anything? He hadn't the proper move to understand it. He had a lot more to offer than just good. He still had some inkling of a plan to turn the tables and she knew it more than anything. If anything? She was probably unsure of what had been brewing up.
Their little dingy continued forward, its course set and the engine purring for a one-way trip. He had a lot more to handle before today was over.

"Hey, one question? Your semblance is about illusions or something at the end of the day?" Ollie questioned to which there was a smile. "Good. We keep a low profile when we get to the Bazaar. They might not care about us, but I'm sure your dad will have a lot of people looking for us there. I just want you to know that. They will be ready for us and my semblance can only help with so much attention." Ollie added to which she nodded.
He knew more than anything as well that she'd probably not even try and keep all of their moves and was prepared for this.
He hummed and pulled up his cloak. He needed some better clothes when they got to this move.
"We're going to be ok, but I do want you ready for every single little," Ollie questioned what to do next. "Just make yourself look less… Like you're from Vale, I guess. I don't know a way to make it sound better, but I do know that here's more to this." Ollie hummed while he crossed his arms before he tilted his head.
He smirked as he pulled at his cloak, unsure what to do next when it came down to it. He sighed and took a deep breath, unsure of what the problem would be what it had been.
"Are you going to be, ok?" Trivia asked to which Ollie nodded before he tilted his head.
Ollie seemed all too interested in what it came down to it. He looked up into the sky, unsure of how to handle it.
"This is going to be a weird little thing, isn't it?" Ollie stated while he rubbed at his nose, prepared for the worst. "And I know a lot more people at the Bazaar than your dad… Unless he bought someone there." Ollie stated while he questioned before he hummed.
