Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of A Lingering Ember. Enjoy the 4400-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.
(Vale.)
Ollie pulled up the collar of his cloak. He knew Trivia was tapping into her semblance to hide. Smart, the Bazaar was something he only heard about.
"You want to get into trouble when we get there? Go ahead, I just want you to realize how crazy this will be. The Bazaar is… An odd place and they do try to sell anything." Ollie added to which he frowned.
Trivia blinked before they stepped onto the stone path which was in front of the island. He hadn't set his eye on it before, for obvious reasons… But Trivia would.
Trivia gasped upon seeing tents draped in wonderful shades of blue and purple and pink and green. Ribbons of such wonderful hues also draped the permitter of the entire event which told her that this place was wonderful when she questioned it.
"Nice, ain't it? This place is supposed to be a trading port between Vale and Mistral. The Bizarre Bazaar I've heard they called it. mom told me a lot of stories about this place." Ollie stated while he tilted his head.
"Just don't go crazy with the money and hide the fancy clothes," Ollie stated before he tilted his head. "We're here to get you a weapon and as I said? Everyone here sells things, ANYTHING. If you're not going to use your semblance? Then I'd hide the fancy clothes." Ollie said before he stepped off the boat.
Trivia frowned and looked around. Ollie hummed and started to step through the crowd of people. Trivia followed, her eyes drifting back and forth as he did so.
"It's a nice place if you leave out the more… Questionable things here," Ollie said before rubbing at his nose. "Mom used to call it the trading port of the world. Ever been somewhere this fancy? I could never come here, had too much of a wandering eye." Ollie added as he smirked.
Trivia looked at Ollie as if unsure if she just heard him make a silly joke. He was an odd boy, someone whom she could expect for now.
She gripped his hand as he turned to look at her, unsure of what to tell her. She probably didn't want him to talk about the money or how much she could spend. If she was in bad of a rut as she said? Then she was probably in a spot where she didn't want to be told not to.
Ollie whipped his head around. He might not have the gift of sight but he could hear a lot better than them, the smells from foods as far as Solitas and sounds from toys from Vacuo. This place was both a smuggler's paradise and yet something that would never leave Trivia's memories.
If anything? That just made him more amused when it came down to it. He was unsure if he should say anything for fear of properly bothering her. She was nice and he couldn't at all say it the same way this had been.
"Are you going to be, ok?" Trivia heard while she frowned, unsure of what it seemed to be prepared on this.
He tilted his head, cracking his fingers to himself. Trivia tilted herself to the side as of now.
If anything? He was curious as to how this would have been before now. He smiled, questioning what was coming next. He'd be prepared for the worst, unsure of what it'd be if nothing else when all of it was said and done.
The two began their walk through the odd sights surrounding them. He had a lot more to question at the time which seemed as if he'd be getting there before now.
Trivia started to tap on her knees, unsure of what her friend would be doing for now. Trivia seemed all for now to be unsure of what to do when it seemed to be prepared for now when something else while he tilted to question before now.
He seemed to be preparing for now as of now. Trivia was a lot more curious as to everything when it hummed as she questioned what was around here, what could have been here before now, and what would become of this place if she didn't at all understand while he seemed to become bored.
"You know, not every single place we go to is going to be this nice. I'd like to point out that this place only seems to float around…What, once, twice a few months or so?" Ollie questioned before he hummed while all of this was over.
"Also? I'd be careful, but I'm just going to go out on a limb and assume you don't care about that when it comes down to it…. I mean, I'd be a lot more shocked if I didn't at least have some small understanding when all of this was done and dusted." Ollie stated to which Trivia tilted her head.
She was unsure of what he meant but she didn't exactly care at the end of the day. It wasn't exactly something odd, there was a lot more to focus on when all of this was over with.
"Also? You're going to have to tell me about the weapon you want… Only get one, isn't like I get endless weapons today." Ollie said as he turned to look at her before now.
"What are you going to ask for anyway?" Ollie questioned what to do next before now. "No, seriously. What is it you want? You only get one… Also? There's probably the fact he might throw both of us under the bus, so there's that when it came down to it." Ollie said while he frowned to himself.
Ollie was tired before now; he was tired of now and this wasn't helping her. She was going to be bored before now when it was as of now. He was a lot more focused on taking her down at the end of the day.
They walked further into the mass of tents and other such merchandise they had for a sail. This place seemed to be bustling with something that lay just under the crackling surface.
He was not sure if anything had been properly explained. This place was odder than what it had been at the end of the day.
Still? Ollie knew enough to know the sounds of the merchant who had been in this place and business for a longer time than they had been here. He tilted his head, tapping his fingers on the back of his clothes.
Whatever he did next before had been prepared for now. He was unsure of whatever would come. He was not focused on whatever he did next.
"Hey, runt!" He and she heard as Trivia pouted. "Are you good? What had been done is done." Ollie heard as he shook his head.
"Damn it, Mackie," Ollie said while he frowned, rolling his eyes before he shook his head back and forth.
Ollie held back Trivia who seemed to be trying to rip him into half. Trivia frowned, unsure of whatever had been there before.
"Triv, stay back," Ollie said while frowning. "Mackie, you old dog! Maybe don't tick off the little lady with me who wants to turn you into Megalodon Chow… Triv? This is Mackie Maroon. Also known as Mr. Lying Weaponsmith who almost got my mom in trouble because he decided the best damn thing to do… Mackie, you owe my mom and my dad a favor and I'm cashing it." Ollie stated before he frowned to himself.
"Your mom got out of that damn situation just fine, short stack." Ollie heard as he held up a finger. "And who's the little princess with you? You finally grow up and decide to get with someone who can kick your ass? Heh." Ollie also heard as he sighed.
"Triv? Mackie has a good case of the jackass…" Ollie said before he walked up to Maroon. "One? She can kick BOTH our asses, so I'd clam up before she puts those designer shows where the sun doesn't shine. Two? She can't talk, old dog. She's like me…. And three? Just cause you're from Solitas means you can talk crap. It's my mom that's the reason you even here to talk crap. You know that as well as I do you owe her one, you told her that when she stopped those guys from kicking the snot out of you." Ollie said as the man held up his hands, preparing for the worst.
"She needs a weapon, doesn't she? I don't see one as I made for you. Spoiled brat did go and got himself a lady friend." Maroon said to which the boy flipped him off. "Alright… Fine, but you owe me. Anyways? What can I do you for, Little Lady? You don't strike me as the type that wants something basic like your little buddy as he questioned his weapon a thousand damn times." Maroon stated before he questioned what to do next.
Ollie only rolled his eyes and knew the man was a damn fool at times, there was only so much he could take of his babbling before long. It made his mind hurt, addled and painful to the end, that was the same type of man he had gotten used to when it came down to it. He sighed as he rolled his eyes.
"Maybe because some jackass decided to keep trying to charge more for something simple. I'm homeless, you damn, daft fool. It isn't like I can upkeep the damn thing." Trivia heard from Ollie as he rolled his eyes.
"Yeah, yeah. You're being a damn pain. Let the lady show me what she wants me to make her… Then you can shove off. I need my damn space and your mom has me busy with a blasted quest I need to help her." Ollie heard from Maroon as he rolled his eyes.
He knew there was a hitch, there was always a but in this case which always made him wonder what the hell the man was good for when it came down to it. There was a lot more to question anyway.
"Triv, feel free to go crazy, it's what he owes my mom for what she did a while ago and it ain't like he's got much better to do for the time being," Ollie said before he turned and started to lean on the stand. "I didn't think you'd get brought back to the Bazaar, Maroon. Last time you were here? Dad said you ended up in a cell or something, what's the matter? Got out on good behavior?" Ollie asked as the man rolled his eyes, unsure of what to say.
"Your mom got me out… And secondly? A… That's a lot more interesting than I expected. Mistrial Steel forged over Atlesian Silk… Fancy, your gal pal has an eye for fashion." Maroon stated to which Ollie raised an eyebrow.
"What happened to... Screw it, it's not my weapon." Ollie muttered before he rubbed at his temples. "Hey, speaking of mom? How is she…? I haven't seen them here in a while and she's usually busy. I never get to do anything before." Ollie before he questioned as he hummed, unsure what to do and say for now.
There was a lot more to focus on before long and he knew it, just like how he knew her magic would be hummed as he questioned before now. If anything? She had a lot more to focus on when it came down to it. There was a lot more to properly deal with when push came to shove.
There was oh so much to handle before now. There was a lot more to be done, a lot more to focus on before now. If anything? He was not sure of what would go on and what wouldn't be real for now.
He was prepared for now when it came down to it. There was only so much he could do to stop them.
Ollie didn't find it to be so much of a problem as she. There was so much more to see, to do. This place would not be but a pit stops when all of it was said and done.
Trivia looked over dozens of weapons in front of her as Ollie sighed, preparing for now what to question before she seemed to pick one out, pointing one of them before she watched as he raised an eyebrow.
Trivia seemed to question what he'd done before now. Whatever it seemed to be next? She'd deal with it, there was all too much to do before now. She nodded at one as Ollie hummed, tilting his head.
He knew just as much as Maroon what was going on. there was a catch, there would always be a catch. The man was one of the best weapon smiths in this region, yet there was a lot more to focus upon for now.
"If you screw her over, I swear to the one above, I'm going to rip you apart before now." Trivia seemed to question before now, while she tilted her head.
She was oh so amused, oh so eager to see his weapon and what he made for her. If anything? All this excitement did nothing to quench the fires of enjoyment slowly spinning around in her chest. She didn't even know what she was going to be unsure what to happen next.
What she seemed to prepare for now was what would be done when it came down to it. There was only so much he could provide her that she couldn't just take, that she wanted.
If anything? This gave her what she wanted, what she wanted beyond it all. She was happy, she got what she wanted and all of this was done and dusted.
There were a lot more questions before now. She had a lot more to focus on what to handle before now. This seemed to be prepared for now. There was a lot more to do. A whole lot more to question when it was prepared for now.
"Triv?" Ollie stated before yawning to himself. "We are going to need to head off sooner or later. Those guys who work for your father? They're not going to show up to stop us. We need to properly get rolling on the problem." Ollie stated before he sighed, tilting his head while he did it.
Trivia seemed to be too bored before now. She seemed all too much in her world, unsure of what was to be done, what would happen after this was to be fair, too prepared for now, unsure of what to put into her weapon as Ollie sighed, stepping up to the plate to make sure before.
He still seemed to be questioning what to handle before now. There was a lot more to tilt her head, prepared for the worst.
Ollie cracked his fingers, looking around before he tilted his head, unsure of what was going to be properly dealt with if anything, there was more to deal with before this came down to it. He seemed to be properly focused on the idea of beating them in a fair fight, plus? It wasn't as if he had been ground down by this.
Where would they even go if not away from here? Where would allow them the comfort they needed? It made him roll his eyes… If he could see from them.
"What is it you're even making Triv, hmm?" Ollie questioned as he turned, raising an eyebrow as he did so.
"She wants an umbrella with a blade inside of it, a grappling hook attached to the hook, and a gun tucked inside… Very interesting idea of a weapon if I'm not lying to myself." Ollie heard as he turned his head to Trivia.
"Well… That's unique." Ollie stated to which he turned to look at Trivia. "Consider it a gift to you or whatever. I do want to point out we're going to need to leave soon or later. There's a lot more to deal with them when all of it's over with." Ollie added while he cracked his fingers and looked around, unsure of anything.
Trivia smiled to herself while she turned and gave one to ollie. He didn't see it, but he could tell from her dance in place, her heels clicking on the pavement as he rolled his eyes, unsure of what she'd do next if not properly focused on their task at hand. It just made him more unsure what they'd do when all of this was over with.
That just made him laugh more, perhaps uncaring if anything about what had been done and what would be done.
She brought a laugh to him and everyone around him. he smiled as he realized she soon is up where he had been sooner or later. There was too much on the line for him to not smile as he realized what was going on, what she'd be doing. Yes, it made him laugh to know at least she was going to be some enjoyment to this, some mirth to their friendship if nothing else.
He yawned to himself while slowly starting to sit up and slowly start to look around at everything, taking in his surroundings as he could see.
He knew it was a fool's errand to attempt to see in his state. There was technology that could have made him look a lot better and could allow him to properly focus on life. If anything? He wasn't going to be allowed the same comforts as them. He didn't want to pretend as if he needed to fix himself.
So much to say and do, so much to fix. This would be nothing if not chaotic for now. He had a lot more to focus upon. What did he question before now? He had more to focus upon, even if nothing else.
There was a lot more he didn't notice but he wanted to. He knew the details of a weapon managed as much as this. She had an eye for style, he could tell that, and he could also tell that she was too ready for now. It hadn't yet sunk in that she was on this level. There was a lot more to focus upon when he was able to properly deal with this.
He hadn't yet focused on what she could do. Her talents, what they seemed to have been.
One thing he knew for certain was she could fight. Trivia was no closeted city girl who had never been in a scrap. If at all? She had been used to battle and as such? She knew more than her fair share of combat in the past or perhaps recently.
That semblance was also far more powerful which gave him a few more questions about what had spawned her into being… And finally? He was entirely found upon what she could do as well. There were so many options on which this could be done for now.
It seemed as if the entire world was going to be out for their blood. That was nice and calming to him if anything else. There was a lot more to question and a lot more to do when the dust settled and they went back and forth with this when all of it was decided.
He hummed to himself and settled into the niche he needed to have been in while pondering what was going to be happening if at all. There was just nothing in the way that would have allowed him the sheer idea when it came down to it. There was something stronger inside her, something that couldn't be matched so easily with juvenile emotions for more than anything else.
He hummed, cracking his fingers before he tilted his head and questioned before he seemed to tilt his head before he was over with.
"We next to get going," Ollie stated before he rubbed at his temples before he seemed to tilt her head.
Ollie seemed to question before he questioned before now.
HE was bored, a lot more to question about what to handle before now. He seemed to be prepared for now. He questioned what to handle before now.
He yawned what to question before now. He was prepared for the best before now. He seemed to be bored, to constantly drag himself down and down until he snapped, too unfocused and uncoordinated to amount to anything yet.
Still? There was more work to be done, a lot more that didn't at all concern him at the end of the day. There was just too much for him to properly commune with peacefully. It didn't seem like that was going to change anytime soon. He just couldn't do it.
Trivia was wide-eyed as her eyes sparkled before she turned to Ollie who seemed to question what to handle before now. Ollie rubbed at his nose, prepared for the best while he questioned what to do next. If he wasn't sure what to do next what would happen before now.
Ollie could only roll his eyes. A small smile graced his lips before he questioned what would be over with. There was a lot more focus before he seemed to be able to question.
He was too bored with what to do next. He knew that she'd be ok, she was properly ok. Trivia tapped on his arms, tugging him forward. He rolled his eyes, prepared for now. He hadn't yet been too bored before he questioned what to prepare for.
Trivia watched as the man slowly started to work upon her weapon as Ollie hummed, too confused at all to see how this would have been. He knew more than she, but he wasn't going to mention anything that could have made her a problem.
He rubbed at his temples, unsure of what she'd do, but possibly focused upon what would be done to fix it… There was a lot more to have done and not so little time for him to focus upon.
Now? He had more on his mind. He had a lot more to question before now. He was to be at peace more and more. There would be a lot more focus. Something that hadn't yet been questioned, nor would he allow her to get healed before now.
He had too much to do, saving her, protecting her for this. There was a lot more to do.
Yet she didn't care. He was far too focused, prepared for the long road behind them. He knew more than them what would happen. He knew that Trivia was going to be on the ropes for a while she focused.
He had a lot more to handle before now. He wasn't going to let her be hurt or anything else. He wasn't prepared for what came next, but he would be prepared if they tried to hunt them down before long.
Did they want a hunt? He'd give them one, he'd give them one at the end of the day, there was too much riding on this for him to just give up and let them win… Plus? It'd be a lot more of a fun adventure for now. He had a lot more fun planned for them and he knew Trivia did as well, there was something that they hadn't yet focused on that for now.
There was a lot more fun to be had, a lot more and he hadn't yet seemed to focus on what was over yet. He had a lot more fun to be done before now.
Still? She was getting a weapon; he was going to see it through at the end of the day.
There was a lot more to have fun with, a whole lot more fun. Trivia seemed to question what her friend was going to be focused on now. He was too curious for now and how this was going to get handled before now.
If anything? He was a bit thrown off, but he was still smirking to himself. He seemed to question before now. He looked at Phantom which hung on his side.
"Hey, Maroon? How are you holding up really? Things weren't that good last time I came around here." Ollie questioned to which the man fell silent for now.
There was a look of annoyance sooner or later. There was a lot more to question as of now.
"I've been here and there. Back-alley crap mostly, O. Your mom came looking for an upgrade to her sword, but that's all." Maroon stated as he watched his friend sigh. "Works well if you don't poke your head out that often… You might be a street rat, but your family knows how to survive. That's more than I can say about most people." Maroon stated to which Ollie shrugged.
He seemed to question what to do next before now. Ollie seemed to prepare for now. It was only a matter of time before the illusions slowly wore themselves down and someone saw them coming.
"I should warn you some guys came sniffing around here. I don't know if their cops or something else, I do know there's a lot of them." Maroon stated to which Ollie frowned, too unsure of what to say or what he'd do if this was over with.
Still? if he knew something they didn't? that was a bad omen, one which couldn't be solved so easily. It sent a chill up his spine as Ollie hummed with uncertainty that hadn't been there a few seconds ago.
Trivia turned to see that Ollie had become more uncertain in their task, he said nothing to her, too unsure of what to properly say or what would have been done. He hadn't yet figured out what he'd even be telling for that.
Ollie hummed, too unprepared for this.
Then came the gunfire.
Author Note
Phew. Another chapter is done! I want to point out that the next chapter will be in 2-10 months and will show both Ollie and Trivia fighting the others. The next chapter will be in 900-6500 words and all that. Until then, Lighting Wolf out!
