Summary/Disclaimer: Time for another chapter of A Lingering Ember. Enjoy the 3000-word chapter. I don't own RWBY, Monty Oum, and Rooster Teeth do.
(Vale.)
Ollie heard the sound of a gun being cocked before they fired. A bullet was launched towards them as he turned and drew Phantom, slicing the bullet in half as it was sent flying into the sky before he rolled his eyes.
He smirked, prepared for more of them and knowing they'd just strike again more and more. He hadn't the ability to properly focus and strike her, unsure of what to do for now. It hadn't been prepared for now. She had too much to handle.
Trivia seemed to be prepared for now if anything. She looked around, unsure what to do next. There was too much to focus upon. She watched as he easily questioned what to do next.
There was an odd little move as he slowly started to march forward for now. There was an odd little thing.
"Stay here," Ollie stated before he cracked his fingers, tilting his head. "Always something going wrong… Triv? Stay with Maroon, he'll make the damn umbrella… Mainly because otherwise, Maroon would be dead." Ollie stated before surging forward, looking around now.
He kicked one of the rest of the cops to the side and tossed him to the side. He hadn't yet managed to properly defeat all of them. Another of them leveled their handgun before he turned and gripped the man before sending him flying into the wall with a simple push. He sighed as he strode forward, tossing their gun to the side as he did so.
There was too much on his mind. He looked over he seemed to be focused for now. He had something else before now, too prepared for now. There was something else. He had yet to properly establish his bond with Trivia and her father was tearing the place all up.
"He must care a helluva lot if he's doing this much to take care of you," Maroon stated to her. "He's got a big heart; I'll tell you that much. Gets him in too much damn trouble for anyone to care for him." Maroon stated while he frowned, looking down at the weapon as more of the rest of their enemy showed up.
Trivia seemed to be focused on watching Ollie send another corrupt cop flying into a lamp, dropping it to the ground, and watching it shatter into pieces.
There was a lot more on the line if they went to war with her father and she knew. He'd be killed if he went against him, but he had bigger fish to fry, and getting her back had probably jumped at the idea of getting her back.
She turned to look at them, unsure of what to tell Ollie when it seemed over. She hadn't yet revealed what was coming if her father gets more resources for their mix.
She wouldn't be going back to him anything soon; she wasn't going to be his slave again nor would she allow him to hurt anyone else.
Ollie twisted around another bullet before spinning Phantom around and cutting the gun in two, the pieces clattering to the ground before another thug slammed him into a booth.
"Do you guys have ANYTHING better to do with your lives besides stalk girls?" Ollie quipped before he kicked the guy off him and surged forward. "No, probably not. You were paid all the money to go kidnap her, probably don't give a damn who she is, who I am, who anyone is… Just need to get that damn bank money." Ollie muttered as he rolled his eyes at them.
Trivia giggled only for another of the thugs to punch Ollie from behind, he stumbled but was able to regain enough balance to parry their baton before punching them to the ground. He turned to at least half a dozen more thugs coming.
"Going to be one of those days, ain't it?" Ollie questioned before he seemed to be focused for now on how to properly focus upon this.
"Maybe if you weren't so damn lousy at watching your ass, this wouldn't have happened!" Maroon stated as he continued to work.
"And maybe if you hadn't put your shop in the most obvious spot on the entire Bazaar, people wouldn't keep robbing you, but I guess that's stupid as well!" Ollie stated as another thug tackled him. "Triv, take Maroon and run, I'll meet up with you guys when I'm done feeding these guys their teeth…" Ollie stated to which Trivia frowned.
There were a lot more thugs here than before, ones which she didn't want to fight, but she wouldn't back down before now.
She surged forward, slamming into the next thug before planting her legs around their chest. She slammed them to the ground before flipping off their body and landing to roll next to Ollie.
"You sure she needs a weapon?" Ollie heard as he rolled his eyes and swung his head towards Neo.
"They're going to know it's you if you don't let him sneak away…" Ollie said as Trivia straightened up. "Fine… I might need some help. I don't get into fights like this that often and there's a lot more than I expected." Ollie said as he sighed, slowly climbing to his feet.
"You two going to make out or fight?" Maroon joked to which Ollie held up a finger.
"Just make the damn thing," Ollie muttered before he held up Phantom. "I'm sure you can handle yourself fine, but don't forget that both of us can help the other fight… I don't know how bad this is going to get or how you fight…. But I do also know I can help." Ollie stated before he sighed to himself with annoyance as he knew just how that ended.
He sighed and spun his weapon. There was a lot more on the line if they failed, a lot more on the line if he handled it the way he did. There was too much to process. The ideas? The morals? Those could have been hers, but there was too much to process.
She turned and slammed her weight into another of the thugs next to her. She hadn't the faintest idea as to how this could have gone and how it should have. They wanted her and not him. There was simply too much on the line if push came to shove and a lot more to properly focus upon before then. What they did have was a nightmare that hadn't yet found itself a home.
Still? She would be damned if she was taken from Ollie's side, she'd be damned if nothing else. There were some terrors as to how to handle it. She had questioned what to do next. There was too much on the line if she didn't pull through this.
She tilted her head at him as the thugs and corrupt cops charged, their weapons were drawn to kill her protector. She was faster… Much faster.
The first was dealt with via a kick which threw him to the side, she swung back to vault across the small of Ollie's back, allowing him to swing her into another thug for a crescent kick. Ollie managed to turn and throw one of the thugs to the ground, preparing for the worst as she rolled along the ground.
One of them slashed at Trivia as she drew the knife from her holster and parried it as another tackled her, trying their best to pin her down. Ollie turned only for another of the cops to slam him into the lamp, knocking Phantom from his hand.
Ollie was about to say something as the cop slammed him into the wall, preparing for his next move as best he could. There was too much on his mind for him to say anything.
Then a shotgun blast threw the man off him and away from him, killing the man as he collapsed to the ground. Ollie felt the breath leave his throat before he turned, retrieving his weapon.
"I'd say we're even after this, kid." Ollie heard from Maroon as he clicked his fingers together.
He held up a smoking shotgun as Ollie rolled his damaged eyes, unsure before he sighed. The man seemed to only be smirking his smile as he questioned what their next course was going to be. He seemed to be a lot more focused on what they'd do next.
"Get the kid, kill the rest." One of the thugs stated before Maroon sighed.
"And here I was saving one of these for a rainy day," Maroon muttered and threw something from his pocket. "Run, you damn brats! I'll handle it… But, kid? You damn well owe me when this is over." Maroon stated as he frowned to shake his head while all of this passed over.
Ollie turned on his semblance and vanished with Trivia, vanishing into the smoke as did she. He had a smirk on his face as she kicked hers in before they vanished into nothingness.
Ollie was glad that their semblances let them vanish into the dust. They could properly focus and it hadn't yet been an odd little thing for now.
Ollie and Trivia looked at each other before they and Maroon vanished. They had a common idea and it stuck. There was more on the line as of now. Trivia seemed to question what Ollie had been focused on her as they ran through the streets of the bazaar.
"Are you good?" Ollie asked as she and he ran through the streets, turning to look at Trivia.
He had too much more on the line before now. She had more on her mind as she leaned on the wall, preparing for the best. They continued to run through the streets, Trivia looking at the others.
She looked at the others before gazing at Ollie who gripped her hand, pulling her along as she still tilted her head before now.
They turned a corner into the deeper annuls of the event as Ollie turned to Trivia as he frowned, preparing to speak.
"So, you two always destroy businesses wherever you go, or am I just special like that?" Maroon asked as the two turned to him. "Ollie? I have some business in Mistral. I make you the damn umbrella she wants? You promise her to help me? Then we're even until the next damn event goes off?" Maroon asked as Ollie shrugged.
"Depends on her. You saw her kick ass. I can't stop her if she doesn't want it." Ollie said as Trivia leaned on him.
She took his chin between her fingers and nodded up and down as Ollie grabbed her hand and lowered it to the side, there was a second of amusement crossing his face as he rolled his eyes. He hadn't the idea before now when it seemed to be over.
"Oy, I'm stuck with you, ain't I?" Ollie questioned which gained a nod before now as to what to do next before he questions.
"I'm going to be ok." Trivia stated before she looked at Ollie as of now. "That was fun. That was a lot more interesting than we had been before." Trivia stated before she hummed to herself as of now.
There was a lot more to focus on before he seemed as of now. She hadn't yet seemed to be ok for now. There was also a second of silence as Ollie turned to her, turning over her hand and signing something along the palm of her bare hand which caused her to nod as she did so.
There was something else that made him question before now. It hadn't yet mended before now. There was a lot more focus as of now. There was a lot more to do before now if he sighed, preparing for the worst.
"You two lovebirds can mess with each other after this is all over," Maroon stated as Ollie rolled his damaged eyes.
"Nice to know you give a damn, Maroon," Ollie stated and sighed. "Triv? Maroon is a lot of damn things, but he's a master at weapon-making… Consider it a birthday gift or something nice like that. Secondly? Do you want that favor? How about telling us what it is first. I don't know what you want or how I can do it… I'm a blind teenager, not a mind reader, old man. There's only so much I can help you with and you know it." Ollie added to which she hummed.
Ollie sighed and smiled at her as he rolled his eyes now as he rolled his eyes, unsure of what this was going to bring. He wanted more adventure, and if that was what kept her around? Well, he couldn't exactly just deny what she wanted… It was out of his hands, to begin with, and he knew she'd be ok.
She was probably a much better fighter than him… But she still needed a little training. All the skills in the world could eventually get rusty.
Plus? It wasn't like she hadn't seemed to be a problem. It hadn't something they couldn't handle. She sighed before leaning on her new friend before he looked at her. She hadn't seemed to be at odds with the problem. Maybe she was a lot more at ease as he seemed to be at odds.
He sighed and smirked at her, tilting his head, perhaps she seemed to know this more. She questioned more mentally as he looked around. There was more on the line as of now. This was a small little niche at this moment for now.
He didn't know what was going to be focused upon now while this was over. There was a lot more to focus upon before he seemed to handle before now. There was a lot more to question before he seemed to question what to do next.
Trivia seemed to tilt her head, preparing for the best, the worst, all of it seemed to be focused as of now what to handle before now.
If anything? There was a smirk, preparing for the best move, a lot more to question, a lot more to do before now.
"She's in, you know she's a lot more on this," Ollie stated before he hummed to himself, yawning as he did so.
"Then fine, come with me, I'll make the umbrella and send you on your damn way," Maroon stated before he cracked his fingers before he sighed, unsure of what to focus upon before now.
He yawned and leaned on the wall before slowly starting to think where might he bring them, where might he ask them to go. It made him laugh, but he was still amused, all the same, assured of what to do next. He knew something else before now as of the second.
He tilted his head, listening around the room as he did so now. He hadn't been too focused before now. He yawned and looked around the room. He hadn't yet seemed to be on now.
Trivia smiled, prepared for the worst, for all of it. She hadn't yet come to terms with now as if they had been too undecided for now. This hadn't yet ended, nor had it been something he wanted to focus upon. She enjoyed the danger and all of the twists and turns, yet now? She had a lot more to focus on now.
He leaned on the wall, unsure before now. She tilted her head at him while drawing on his hands, trying to get some assurances, that there was a lot more blood to be spilled before all of this was over.
He sighed, yawning to himself whilst crossing his arms and looking around. He smiled at her before he seemed to question now. There was something insane in her eyes while she clutched her eyes, too deep into the chaos not to enjoy it. She enjoyed the chaos for now. He hadn't the proper skills for what may come next at the moment.
There was something else before now what else was over. He hadn't yet prepared for now.
"We need to get this over with, not yet, we're not prepared for Mistral or Atlas or whatever you need, I just hope you notice that." Trivia seemed to tilt her head, sure of nothing else.
He seemed to be rubbing at his temples before he looked up into the sky. He seemed to turn to Maroon, smirking to himself. There was a lot more to do next before now.
She hadn't yet seemed to finish it. He smiled once more while he smirked to himself. He hadn't yet seemed to be properly lay onto this problem. There was more on the mind for this to come down to it.
Ollie hummed as of now. He leaned on the wall before he clicked his fingers against the waiste of his belt. He yaanwed once more before he tilted his head at the floor, questioning as of now what to do next. He sighed, rubbing at his damaged eyes. It hurt, but he was still able to tilt his head before he leaned on the wall.
"She wants her fancy umbrella. It's a work of art if you could gaze upon it, Oll." Maroon stated to which Ollie shrugged.
"Well, Phantom is a very pretty weapon. That's just what your going to do next." Ollie stated before he still tilted before he tilted his head as of now.
"Yeah, well, you still owe me for making little Ms. Fancy." Maroon stated to which he hummed to himself. "What are you going to do?" Maroon added.
