Chapter 9 – Answers

"When your mother said that you were missing, we imagined that you went in Meridian. But why didn't you tell us? Why did you go there? We have been worried, you know!" Cornelia shouted, in the restaurant's kitchen. Caleb placed his hand on her shoulder gently.

"I guess I agree with Corny this time." Irma said.

The earth guardian glared at her.

"So, what happened?" Taranee asked.

Will didn't want to lie, or tell about Phobos.

"I thought that I should go see how things are in Meridian. It wasn't necessary to call you guys; besides, it was late."

"And?"

"And there I've been attacked by guards, captured and today I managed to come back here."

"This is it? Nothing else? What happened when you got captured?" Hay Lin asked.

"There is nothing else for now."

"What do you mean? You must tell us, ok? No secrets should be between us! What's wrong with you?" Cornelia snapped.

"There is nothing wrong with me! You just have to trust me, is that too hard?" Will said.

"Maybe." Cornelia answered.

"Girls, calm down," Hay Lin interrupted. "No matter what you say, Cornelia, or what we think and want, Will is the leader. We have to trust her and believe her. So Will, do what you have to do and we will be here for you if you need us."

"Thanks, Hay Lin."

Cornelia sniffed, but didn't protest anymore. "I hope you will tell us soon, we are guardians too and we help each other."

"Sure I will, don't worry. I have to go now. Bye!"

"Bye, Will!" the group said.

Will walked out of the restaurant and headed to the bookstore she remembered Elyon worked at.

She entered it and looked around. "It looks like a normal person from Earth has the bookstore," she thought.

Cedric appeared from the back of the room.

"Hello, may I help you?"

"It's me, Cedric."

"Oh, hi Will. So, is it time to talk and explain?"

"That's right. But I won't come with you. While you talk to Elyon, I'll try to convince Phobos."

"Done. See you later."

"Bye."

The lord closed the bookstore and went to Elyon's home. He knocked at the door. She opened it and when she saw that it was Rick, she hugged him very tight and burst into tears. He kissed her and held her safe in his arms, while he still could. He was so afraid that he could lose her.

"My dear, can we have a talk inside? Outside would not be a proper place for what I have to tell you."

"Sure, Rick. Come in. My parents are shopping, so they aren't home."

"Excellent." Cedric didn't want to have problems with those who took Elyon from Meridian 18 years ago.

In her room, Elyon sat on her bed, while the blond man refused to sit.

"Now what I'm going to tell you, it may sound more than crazy and maybe you will think I'm making up things."

"I couldn't do that, Rick. I love you so much that nothing could separate us."

"So please listen to what I have to say. It isn't easy for me to say it and the only reason I'm doing this is because I love you. Are you ready?"

She nodded. The lord took a deep breath and began.

"My love, you have a brother."

Elyon gasped in shock, but calmed herself down and decided to just trust Rick and hear everything.

"An older brother. He knows about you and wants to meet you. But there is another world, besides Earth, that is called Meridian. Your brother rules it and he is a prince. Prince Phobos. You are his sister and the princess."

"It can't be true." Elyon whispered. "Please don't mock me."

"I'm not, my dear, believe me. Do you remember that blast of energy? You can do that and much more. Phobos has powers too, but you have bigger ones. And I am his servant. I was sent by him on Earth to find you and to bring you to him."

"So you lied! You don't love me!" she couldn't control herself anymore.

"I do, Elyon! I do! Because I love you I decided to tell you all this! I don't want to play with your feelings! You see, your friends Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin know about Meridian. They are guardians, they have special powers over energy, water, fire, earth and air, and they can fly. And Caleb is on their side too. He comes from Meridian."

"And how can I find out if it's true?"

"You will come with me in Meridian. Everything is real. Like your friends, who fight with Phobos."

"With my…brother? Why?"

"Let's say he isn't the very nice kind, but now he loves Will and she loves him. And at first he wanted to drain your powers."

She shivered a little.

"So, I have an evil prince brother, who wants to harm me and you're his servant that has to take me to him?"

"I talked to Will and she went to him to convince him to give up his plan. But I will protect you in any case. I really love you! I don't want to lose you!"

"It's so hard to believe that, and I hope you understand that I'm not ready yet to go there. I mean, I love you and trust you, but it's too much for me all at once."

Tears formed in her eyes. He hugged her.

"By the way, my name is Cedric. I'm lord Cedric."

She began to cry. The lord kissed her on top of her head.

"But…my parents…they…"

"They are not your parents, my dear. They took you when you were little, from my prince. They wanted to save you and protect you."

"This is so weird, Rick. Sorry, I meant Cedric. I just wonder how things would have been if we didn't love each other… If I didn't trust you… But I do and I need to believe you!"

And they hugged again. But in that moment, at her door appeared her parents from Earth. They frowned, recognizing lord Cedric, Phobos' servant.
