Chapter 14 - Marriage proposal
Phobos, followed close behind by Cedric, entered his dungeon. Irma, Taranee, Cornelia, Hay Lin and Caleb were all there, but they were silent. Only when they saw who came in, they reacted. Cornelia sniffed angrily, Taranee lit a small fire in front of her finger, Hay Lin started gazing those two, Caleb narrowed his eyes and Irma muttered something that contained "snake boy and his master."
The prince offered them a smile, waving his hand for the guards to leave.
"What do you want? Are you here to make fun of us? And where is Will? Probably it's all her fault that we are here." Cornelia asked.
"She does not know that you are here." Cedric answered. "And neither does Elyon."
"So you want to surprise them? They will be glad!"
"Stop it! How can you not see that they care about you? About Earth and Meridian?"
"If they did, they wouldn't have changed sides to help you."
"They didn't. They just love us and because of them we managed to change. I now love so much Will and care a lot about my younger sister; that's why you are here: I want you to listen to me. I care about my people, about Meridian! I want peace and I want you to be my friends. Joy entered my life when Will entered my heart! She is not a traitor, she is your best friend and a generous and kind person!"
"So is Elyon, who wants to help everyone and likes to be honest. You just got it all wrong! Just give them, and us, a chance to prove that we are right. It's true that we captured you, but we didn't want to harm you. That is something new, right? And if you think about it, you will see there was no other way for you to listen to what we had to say!"
The prince of Meridian and the blond lord continued to talk with so much passion and care about that land, those people and about Will and Elyon, that the captured ones almost believed them. But a small doubt was still in their hearts, so when those two finished and asked them politely to forgive the leader guardian and the princess, Caleb declined their request and no one fought about his decision.
Phobos sighed. "Very well, we will talk some other day. But I can't let you leave; you will not make my Will suffer! You must understand! She means everything to me and I won't let anybody hurt her!"
When they were left alone, they started to discuss.
"That was weird, you must admit it; Phobos could never waste his time talking for nothing. And Cedric seemed to be so emotional…" Taranee began.
"They can be really good actors, right?" Caleb asked ironically.
"But they talked with so much passion!" Hay Lin responded.
"Guys, Will would never let anything bad happen. She is one of us and will never change." Taranee said.
"But she tried to hide it from us! Do you think that if it was a good thing she wouldn't have told us from the beginning?" Cornelia snapped.
"And how do you think we would have reacted? Hug her from the start, assuring her what a good idea it was? She knew that those two changed, but we didn't! And of course she figured out how we could react, so she told us when she thought it was the right time." Irma said.
"But she didn't. We just found her with Phobos when we thought that she was a prisoner."
"Actually, remember that Blunk told us that Will called for us. And he never mentioned that she is in danger, we just guessed. So probably Will wanted to explain everything, but we misunderstood. We didn't act fair, that's the truth."
"Yes, we didn't give Elyon and Will a chance. Not even a single one." Caleb realized.
"But what are we doing here, trapped?" Cornelia asked, not giving up."
"The girls don't know about us." Hay Lin answered.
"Yeah, and Phobos with Cedric tried to convince us, in their own way. A weird way, but it's definitely a big change since we fought with them." Irma spoke.
"And if they will just leave us here for a long time? Maybe they are still evil."
"Look what we will do: if they come again, we will admit that we were wrong. If not, we will find a way to escape and fight back. Ok?"
Everyone agreed.
Susan had asked about "they", but when she heard what was going on, she smiled and promised not to tell anything. She was amazed that Phobos and Cedric did that for Will and Elyon.
Two days later from this conversation, Cedric was talking in whisper with his master. Early in the morning, they were in the throne room. The blond lord was very nervous, but seemed determined. So was Phobos.
"So, when Elyon wakes up and comes to breakfast, I'll take her to that balcony she loves so much…"
"Yes, this is the most beautiful day ever! I care only about their happiness. I just hope that…Umm…Good morning, beautiful!"
Will came in, smiling weakly. Phobos looked at Cedric, who nodded, and then took the girl's hand, saying: "Please come with me, my love. I have something to tell you."
Soon, Elyon came in the throne room. Cedric stroke her hair.
"My dear Elyon, please come with me."
They were in that lovely garden, which Will liked so much.
"I love you, Will. It's the biggest truth in my life. You changed me, when nobody could. Because of you my heart can love. And I'm the happiest man because you love me too. I want to protect and support you all my life. So please…"
He kneeled in one knee in front of her and opened a small box, which had the most beautiful ring Will had ever seen. It contained a wonderful ruby in the middle.
"Will you marry me?" Phobos asked, smiling with all his heart.
Will started to cry, because of all her happiness. Her friends were mad at her, but they would forgive her sooner or later. But now the one she loved…
"Yes… Of course I will, Phobos!"
He gave her the ring and kissed her like he never did before.
"What are we doing here, Cedric?"
The balcony was amazing in the sun's light.
Cedric kneeled in front of her.
"My dearest Elyon, all my life was nothing, until you came. You opened the way of love for me and you accepted me, even if I can turn into that snake form. You are unique in the world and you are mine. I can't even express myself in words for how happy I am that you are here with me! And I want to…ask you: will you marry me, my love?"
"Of course… YES, I WILL!"
Elyon was so happy!
Cedric gave her a superb silver ring, with a precious sapphire in the middle, and then took her in his sweetest embrace ever.
