Chapter Four: A Sentence of Humiliation and Death
Somewhere in outside of Osaka, predawn.
Having traveled all night, the van swayed and jumped as it slowly made its away to the Top Secret Government labs. Inside, Dr. Shizuoka sat grim faced, scowling at Captain Koizuri of the second unit. "You were told that he was to be taken alive."
The officer normally wasn't the easiest individual to intimidate but the Senior Scientist's expression left little doubt that one mistake was all that would be allowed. "Yes, Ma'am," the uniformed man nervously replied.
"Then what is the excuse for the amount of the sedative that was used in the male's capture?" The female scientist looked at the chart that she had been given by one of her assistants. Her voice held an unspoken contempt.
"He was unstoppable, Dr. Shizuoka. He took out three of my men with the prescribed amount going through his system. I take full responsibility for the state he was brought in, but with all respect it is my opinion that this project should not commence."
"Well isn't it good that we're not relying on your judgment in these matters. I wonder if you would be less apt to go against orders if you were the creature's next donor." The Asian woman smiled vindictively.
The lumbering vehicle slowed even more as it approached the hidden gateway into the facility. The massive steel doors opened and the van rolled into the large parking area.
Major Yamada gave the Captain a stern look, "I would suggest that you not mention any more of your ideas. We're here to do our job, not to question those with higher authority." He turned away as the van doors opened. The rest of the men avoided looking at him as they filed out. Captain Mizuho Koizuri frowned; it wasn't the first time he'd had a reprimand but he still could not shake the feeling that what they were about to do went against his personal beliefs and nature. Leaving the van he gave the two unconscious teenagers a sympathetic look before they were carted away.

A hundred meters inside the perimeter of the Compound.
Sakura stood well inside the boundaries of the obvious military compound. She fumed, 'I knew it; Akane is in danger.' Her anxiety was high as she felt the sun begin to rise; there was nothing she could do for the children. The sun was just as much an enemy to their kind as the monsters that had abducted two unsuspecting children.
Her tall companion approached having given the Japanese woman some privacy. "You know that we can't do anything until night falls again. As it is we need to find shelter now before we are no more than ash, which would be of no use to your daughter or the other young one."
"We have some time. I am going to call the dojo." Her expression was fierce, daring her maker to contest this action.
Sighing heavily the blond man nodded. "Fine, but let us make haste. I have no wish to see the daylight yet."
Sakura frowned at the thought that the man she had come to know would perhaps one day seek the daylight. She knew that he had made similar remarks before, so casually that it was hard to tell if he really meant it or just in jest.
With a turn, the blond man appeared to vanish as he ran back to the last village that they had passed in pursuit of the villains. Only with her keen eyesight was she able to track the other vampire's progress. Sakura turned briefly looking back at the place that was now holding her daughter and future son-in-law. With a heavy heart she sprinted after her companion. It was a race against the on-coming light that gave her an extra boost to catch up to the American. Those children needed help now, not when the night fell again. She prayed with all her soul that those at the dojo would act on what she would tell them.
As they sped back the way they had come, their wake created a gust of wind, which rustled leaves and brushed over a car that was sitting idling four miles away.

4 miles from the secret base
The small bug that trailed after the white van stopped well before the signs that stated that trespassers would be shot. A brunette man of medium height stepped out of the small vehicle, his clothes fluttering partially in the wind, which the car door didn't conceal. Raising his hands, he looked through a pair of binoculars as he made a quick scan of the area.
"The boss isn't going to like this," sighed a feminine voice from inside the vehicle.
"He isn't going to like what? That we let the government get hold of more of those monsters or that we now know where they keep them?" The man inquired as he took one last look around the camouflaged compound.
The woman gave her companion a doubtful look as he climbed back into the bug. She started it up without making a further comment about what she thought of his ideas.
Ignoring the driver, the brunette took out a small cell-phone and hit the speed dial. He smiled as images sprang to mind: a vampire laying on the ground with a stake through its heart; a white coated scientist being held back as the GOH did away with their experiments in front of them. In his mind they were just as bad, trying to create more of those creatures to foul the earth.
---------------
Nerima Early Morning
Always an early riser, Kasumi Tendo went half-heartily about getting breakfast ready. Her usual routine had been disrupted by the news about Akane and Ranma. Her eyes were blood-shot with the amount of crying she had done after everyone had settled in for the night. She had no idea of where the two might be but she was positive that together they would be safe. Ranma wouldn't let anything bad happen to Akane if it was in his power. Kasumi sighed as she place the rice in the cooker. Her thoughts going over again the might-have-beens. She had always known that any of them could contract the same disease as their mother, for she had studied it. She had hoped that it would skip over them even though she had no wish to condemn any future children they might have. It was just that she didn't think that their father could take another death.
The sound of footfalls from behind startled the young woman out of her reverie. "Oh, Nabiki. You're up rather early."
The sleep-tousled teen also looked nothing like her normal mischievous self. Her eyes were slightly red and swollen with dark circles under them. She hadn't slept more than a couple of hours at most. It just wasn't fair, sure she had made money off of her sister and her iinazuke but not in the way that they all thought. She really wasn't the insensitive ice queen everyone thought. The death of their mother had hardened her but she still cared for her family. Most of what she did was to keep the household from going bankrupt and to save for college. In her own way she figured that the best way to really keep the family solvent was to get into big business. She had never intended for things to happen the way they did. The Saotomes had caused more problems than any teenaged girl with a head for figures could anticipate. Nabiki had rallied though it had cost her alot: she grew even harder and more distance from her family. Even though Ranma could be just what Akane had always called the young man an 'insensitive jerk' he had a way of getting people to like him. He had brought the house to life, which had been lacking ever since Sakura Tendo's death.
"Yeah well I didn't really get any sleep last night."
The ringing of the phone interrupted the sisters. Nabiki, being the closest, rushed to see if it was her sister and her brother-in-law-to-be. "Moshi... Mo..." was all she managed to say when the caller broke through her greeting.
"Nabiki," a low motherly voice resonated across the line. "I don't have much time. Government officials have kidnapped Akane and Ranma. They're interested in the Belladonna Antigen. It's not a disease, but a way to become immortal. I would tell you more, but I have to go."
Before the brunette young woman could question the caller there was an abrupt click and the phone went dead. In shock Nabiki looked at the phone. She ran the caller's words over in her mind again. It was either someone sick joke or the real thing. Her gut instinct and logical mind told her that it was the real thing and not some kind of crank call, because, so far, only the family knew that Ranma and Akane had a disease called the Belladonna Antigen.
Kasumi came up to her, "Who was that?"
"An informant," Nabiki stated with narrowed eyes. "I need to make some calls. I'll explain when I can confirm information given."
"Is this about Ranma and Akane?" inquired the anguished brunette.
"Isn't everything that happens in Nerima about those two?" Nabiki grumbled.
Walking away, Kasumi admonished her younger sister. "Nabiki, that's a little unfair don't you think?"
Feeling slightly abashed, though it didn't show on her face, she made no response to her sister, she picked up the receiver and started dialing her assistant, leaving the disruptive people for later. It was more than likely that she would need to gather them in order to find her little sister and her cross-gender iinazuke.
