Annabeth Chase was a common topic in the boys locker room. She was one of, if not the most, popular girls in school, and pretty much every guy wanted to date her.

That included Percy Jackson. Percy had been going to Goode since forever, he was born and raised in town. It was a relatively small school, with around 60 other pupils in his grade. It was small enough that you noticed a new student, especially one as gorgeous as Annabeth.

Plus, she was a pretty well known streamer. Percy had known of her and her online presence for the past three years, when she started streaming at 14. She had cumulated a mass following, currently standing at around 8 million on youtube. As soon as the halls of Goode found out that someone 'famous' was joining their class, word spread quicker than a fire. Percy personally didn't understand why everyone was so excited, he didn't even watch her streams.

That was until she walked into his class for the first time. All the oxygen in his lungs disappeared and he became fixated on the beauty that moved to sit a couple rows in front of him.

She was beautiful, and she had the prettiest laugh that Percy couldn't help smiling whenever he heard it. He remembers as she politely introduced herself to the guy sat next to her, Connor Stoll, the lucky man, and they struck up a engaging conversation straight away. He could see Connor grinning down at the girl, and Percy concluded in that moment that this charming, pretty girl was going to be the death of him.

She had now been going to Goode for the just short of a year, and over summer Percy had been watching her streams on repeat daily until she posted more. She was so charismatic and she made him laugh so much. He found himself watching her when he was sad, or felt alone and her smile instantly made him feel better.

He could count the number of interactions they had in person on one hand. He'll admit, she's incredibly intimidating. He watches from afar as she is hit on countless times and day, and sees her uncomfortable smile as the boys walk away, and he swears he never wants to make her feel like that.

This year, he reflects, will be his moment to shine. He is going to date Annabeth Chase.

'Percy!'

Percy finishes parking his car and grabs his backpack from the passenger seat, stepping out to greet his friends.

'Hey guys!' He steps forward and gives Jason, Leo, Frank and Nico one of those guy hugs, and grins down at Piper and Hazel.

'Who's ready for senior year?'

The girls laugh and cheer slightly, but Leo just rolls his eyes.

'I haven't even stepped in the building yet and i already want to die. Lets get this over with!'

Frank shoved his friend slightly and chuckled, 'Liven up Valdez! Who knows, Coach might let you play this year!'

Everyone laughed and walked towards the building, smiling at friends they passed on their way to the door.

A loud tire screech rang clear through the parking lot, and a sports car came racing into their eyesight, narrowly missing them and sliding into a space.

Luke Castellan hopped out of the drivers seat, and Percys heart dropped when Annabeth slid out of the passenger side.

Luke Castellan was Goode's notorious Pretty Boy. He was head of the football team, and every girl had a crush on him, even though Percy personally thought he was an asshole. Luke was also known for being a bully, something Percy and his friends have been a victim to.

'Hey! Watch it Asshole!' Jason yelled before chucking his arm over Pipers shoulder and making his way inside.

Luke rolled his eyes at the group and mumbled something under his breath, to which Annabeth shoved his side and muttered 'Cut it out! You said you'd be nice!'

Percy dejectedly watched as Luke leaned down and pecked Annabeth's lips, holding his hands up in pretend surrender, to which she rolled her eyes and grabbed his hand, leading him into the building. She smiled apologetically at Percy and his friends as she passed.

Annabeth Chase was dating Luke? Why? What did she see in him? He was an awful person. Sure, he wasn't bad looking, Percy supposed, but she could definitely do better.

'Oh great,' Nico sighed, 'And here's me hoping we could avoid those brats today.'

Percy's eyes shot to Nico and he rushed to speak,

'Hey! Annabeth's nice! Its just Luke thats an asshole!'

Nico rolled his eyes, and shrugged slightly.

'Whatever, lets just go.'

Percy had just decided that he loved science. No, really. It was his new favourite lesson, and it definitely had nothing to do with the seating plan that his teaching had done, not at all.

He smiled at Annabeth as she scanned the board looking for her name and stopping when she saw it, grin lighting up her face. She spun on her heel and made her way over to him.

She was really pretty. Her hair was curly and flowing over her shoulders, and her grey eyes pierced into his as she walked towards him. Her smile was soft, and it made his heart do flips when he saw it was towards him.

She dropped her bag to the floor and placed her books on the desk, before sitting down and turning to him.

'Hey! It's Percy, right?'

Percy nodded and played with his pencil, trying to wash out some of his nervous energy.

'Yeah, Percy Jackson.' He lamely replied.

She opened her notebook and wrote the date down. His mind was running in overdrive and he was picking up on the smallest things. She smelt like vanilla. She was left handed. She was wearing one of her friends youtube merch.

Recognition pooled into her eyes and she shot round to face him once more.

'Wait! You're the kid that Luke almost hit this morning!'

Percy laughed slightly and nodded.

'Yeah, don't worry, i'm not planning on suing.'

Guilt was present on her features and her eyes softened as she glanced at him. She placed a hand on his shoulder and his heart raced.

'Im sorry, Percy, i told him to apologise but he can be a real asshole sometimes. Im really sorry though.'

Percy shook his head dismissively as the teacher finally stood up from her desk, trying to get the attention of the students.

'Don't worry about it,' he whispered, 'I'm absolutely awful at science so you're going to have to carry us, consider us even.'

She laughed quickly and turned round to face the front.

He didn't hear a thing that lesson. He was too busy staring at Annabeth, and thinking that she deserved a lot better than Luke.

For the rest of the day, he didn't see Annabeth. He spent Lunch with his friends and drove home, heart still racing from the small interaction he did have with her, and spent time with his mom. He wont lie, his eyes kept flicking down to his phone, eagerly waiting the notification that she was streaming, but it never came.

He watched reruns of her outlast gameplays (they were his favourite, she was so funny when she was scared), and fell asleep excited for the first time, to go to school the next day, eager to see Annabeth.

'I might throw up.'

Percy turned to Annabeth who's face was completely white and chuckled slightly. They were dissecting a frog, and Percy had just found out that Annabeth was incredibly squeamish.

'It's fine! I've got it,' he replied, rummaging around in the frog to try and locate specific parts. Annabeth pulled a face and turned round to stare out the window.

'You have something wrong with you. How are you enjoying this.' She shook her head, arms folded.

Percy let out a laugh and turned round to grin at her, picking up the frog.

'Look Beth, he wants to say hi!'

She glanced at him out the corner of her eye before smacking his arm gently, disgust on her face.

'Put him down!' She spoke, half laughing.

Percy grinned and placed the frog back on the table, removing his gloves and chucking them in the bin. The teacher came round and removed the frogs and Annabeth hesitantly returned to her seat.

She was still incredibly pale, and Percy went to put his hands on her shoulders to reassure her.

'Woah! Don't be touching me with your froggy hands buddy! Go wash them!'

Percy laughed once more and wiggled his fingers in her face, causing her to scoff and push him away.

He heard her muttering to himself as he walked to the sink and washed his hands.

'That poor little frog. He did nothing wrong.'

Percy grinned as he sat back next to her,

'You know, i'm surprised how much you hate blood and gore considering how many horror games you play.'

Annabeth raised her eyes to meet his, cocky smile plastered on her face.

'I didn't know you watched my videos.'

Percy froze like a deer in headlights.

'Well,' he stuttered, 'I don't! Well i do, but -'

He couldn't believe this. Annabeth was making fun of him! Percy glanced down her from where she was grinning at him, eyebrows raised in question.

He composed himself and rolled his eyes, trying not to grin.

'Shut up you.'

She giggled and began writing in her notebook what the teacher was putting on the board.

His heart pounded as he began to write too, overflowing with happiness.

He loved science.

'He's such an asshole! Honestly, i really hate the jerk!'

Percy zoned back in and looked at Jason from across the table. It was lunch, and they were sat in the canteen.

'Whats up?'

Leo rolled his eyes and point at Percy with his spoon.

'You need to pay more attention, we've been on about this for like ten minutes now!'

Percy grinned apologetically and focused on Jason.

'Who's a jerk?'

'Who do you think? Castellan!'

Percys eyes shot across the canteen where Luke was sat with his friends, and Annabeth. His heart dropped watching them chat and playfully push each other, but he focused back on his friend in front of him.

'Why? What did he do?'

The girls were still in line to get food, so it was currently just him, Nico, Jason and Leo. Leo coughed awkwardly and spoke up.

'After gym, he cornered me and Nico. We managed, but he kept calling us shit names and stuff.'

Percy frowned. 'Like what?'

Leo glanced round the table and played with his food nervously.

'Well, he kept calling Nico gay and stuff.'

Percys jaw hardened and his eyes shot to Nico, who was staring at the table in defeat.

'What the fuck.'

'Its not a big deal.' Nico interrupted.

Percy went to stand up, vision tunnelling on Luke, but Nico grabbed his arm and pulled him back down.

'Its fine!' He yelled, 'I don't care, so you shouldn't, alright? Its not a big deal.'

Percy went to argue back but the girls returned to the table and conversation died.

Percy's gaze was still locked on Luke, eager to go and put him in his place, but Nico kicked his leg under the table and gave him a warning glare, telling him to drop it for now.

The week quickly passed, and Percy felt himself crushing on Annabeth more and more as the days went on. The more he learnt about her, the more he appreciated being able to call her a friend.

His own friends wouldn't leave him alone about it, the girls saying how sweet it was, and the boys calling him a massive simp.

'Jason, you cant exactly judge, look at you and Piper!' He argued, causing everyone to laugh and Piper roll her eyes and give him a kiss. They were all hanging out at Pipers.

You see, her dad is a famous movie star, Tristen McLean, and has the coolest house Percy has ever seen. He's rarely around anymore, something that used to upset Piper but she says shes gotten used to it, making her house the central for all of their get togethers.

' I wanna be her friend, you know, she just seems really nice! I've spoken to her a few times but i wanna invite her round more.' Piper spoke, and Hazel nodded in agreement.

Percy couldn't say he was opposed.

'Her only issue is that boyfriend of hers. Luke. I really hate the guy. I don't know why she dates him if shes as good as you say she is.' Leo replied, and Nico nodded.

Piper frowned and shrugged. 'I don't know, maybe theres more going on than what we see! Either way, I'm going to try and speak to her next week.'

They all nodded in agreement, and turned back to face the movie.
